Printing to Canon ImageRUNNER 3200 network color printer

Hi folks,
I'm the lone Mac user working in a corporate Windows environment. I've succesfully been able to use IP addresses to print to various HP printers, but I'm so far unable to print to the aforementioned Canon ImageRUNNER 3200 color laser printer. I downloaded Canon's driver for Mac OS 10.1/10.2/10.3/10.4 and tried adding it to the printer center as an IP printer but it won't print. Then I tried adding it using Canon's IP printer utility (I saw it in the pull down menu from the print center) and that doesn't work either. It seems to see the printer on the network, but just won't print. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was doing some Googling and saw the device Queue Name for ImageRunners is "print." Try entering that in Printer Setup.

  • Canon imageRunner 3200 with Intel Mac

    Hi,
I got my MacBook Pro in late October. Before that I had a iMac G5 and had it connected via TCP/IP to a Canon ir3200. Worked great.
However, it has never worked on my MBP. Not before or after Leopard. Canon's support for this machine is terrible - they simply send you to their dealer, which, in my case, has absolutely no knowledge of software issues. I have downloaded multiple drivers from the Canon site (none of which are explicitly made for Intel Macs or Leopard OS), and none of them work. I have tried downloading drivers and printing via IP, no luck there, either.
I have even tried leaving my G5 turned on and sharing the printer through it. No luck, I get an error message that after research is a result of the Fiery RIP on the Canon not meshing properly with the Intel chipset. (that is a topic for another day, just telling everyone to keep that option from being suggested).
Does anyone have any ideas, or had any luck working with a similar Canon IR series printer on their Intel or Leopard Mac? I am in desperate need of a resolution...saving files to PDF and sending them to the G5 then printing is a hassle.
Thanks for your time and help.

    The Canon Au web site does have the UB for the Canon printer board. This is the PS Printer Driver Installer v1.80. This is the link;
    http://www.canon.com.au/products/multifunctionals/multifunctionaldigital_devices/irc3100drivers.aspx
As for the W7250, you will have to wait for an update. Our iPF is working but the W series is older and that is the likely issue with the drivers on Leopard. I would expect there to be a newer driver that will work on Leopard, but my experience with Canon (and this is probably the case with other vendors also) is that the current models get priority while the older models can take some time to get updates. Given that Canon doesn't provide direct service/sales on their wide format I am not sure who you could talk to. Maybe try ringing the Sydney office (02 9805 2000) and ask for the National Marketing manager for wide format printers?

  • MacBook Pro won't print in color to Canon ImageRunner network printer

I have a MacBook Pro that I have installed drivers for and I am able to print to the Canon ImageRunner Color 5185i printer in our office. However, I cannot seem to get it to print in color. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Canon but to no avail. Anybody have any ideas out there? This is a network printer with it's own static IP on the network. So frustrated...

I was having a similar problem with an HP printer. When I checked to see which driver my laptop was actually using (System Prefs>Print and Fax>Options and Supplies>Driver), it was using some sort of generic driver that worked fine for black and white, but wasn't getting color. I chose the HP driver out of the set listed and can now print in color. I know you said that you installed the latest drivers and you have probably already checked to see if those drivers are actually the ones being used by your computer, but if not, that might be a solution.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot print via network to Canon imagerunner color 2620

I've installed the drivers/softwre, added the printer.
But when I try to print:
    1) Print job starts
    2) Print job shows completed
    3) Nothing comes out of the printer!
(print job is done via ethernet/wireless network)
    Please help
Printer model: Canon ImageRunner Color 2620 (in the US), aka iRC2600N (in China)

    Hi William,
Thanks for the reply. Okay, let's assume it is a Canon board. Therefore I recommend you perform the following steps.
    1. Ensure you are using the Canon PS Driver v1.60. This was the first version of a Universal driver to include support for Intel Mac's. You can download it from the Canon Australia web site (http://www.canon.com.au/products/business/multifunctionals/multifunctionaldigital_devices/iRC2620drivers.aspx).
    2. Open the Printer Setup Utility and click on the title menu. Click on Reset Printing System. This will delete the Canon driver from your system. To be sure, open Library > Printers > Canon. The driver resides in a folder called PS. If you see it, delete it and empty the trash. Then restart the Mac.
    3. Once the Mac has restarted you can run the installer for the v1.60 driver. You will have to reboot again once the installation is complete. With the Mac back on, open the Printer Setup Utility. Click Add and then click More Printers. Select 'Canon IP (PS)' and then enter the IP address of the iR C2620 and a queue name of LP. Click Add. The driver queries the printer, selects the appropriate ppd and configures the cassette and finisher setup.
    4. With the printer now residing in the printer list, open TextEdit and write a few lines of text. Click File > Page Setup and ensure that A4 is selected. Then select Print and click Copies & Pages. Select Special Features from the menu. You will see an image of the copier and the Job Accounting tab. Because the driver queries the printer, if Job Accounting is enabled, the driver will reflect this. So you will have to select the Job Accounting tab and enter a valid ID and password. Now make sure this ID has enough prints remaining. If you are using an ID that doesn't have any remaining prints, the job will be deleted once it arrives at the copier. The other things to watch out for is the value for colour and b&w. With the cost of colour printing, some admins set the colour value quite low (or zero) meaning that if your document does have any colour it will be deleted by the copier once the colour print limit is reached.
    5. With the ID and password set ( if needed) print the document. If it prints then open a different application and see if you can print from it. If it doesn't print, then please post back here the last 10 entries from the cups error log. This can be found via the Console application or the System Profiler.

  • Canon ir 3200 printer scanner:  two issues

I have MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.4. Some issues have shown up when interfacing with Canon color imagerunner C3200, connected through IP.
Problem 1: showed up when I installed Leopard about 3 months ago. The Canon C3200 is a color copier that can print and scan. When scanning, it pushes the file to a folder. I used to be able to scan to my Mac. Once I upgraded, the Canon could no longer scan to my computer. It scans fine to the PCs in house. I have installed all updates (Leopard, Canon, drivers, etc). No luck.
I tried a WIDE variety of pathnames and sharing privileges, but have been unsuccessful since the upgrade in using the scan feature. Anybody run into this?
Problem 2: started last week. I cannot print in color to the Canon IR C3200 - my documents come out in black and white. I have removed the printer, re-installed it, updated drivers, etc. I can print in color to other printers, just not the Canon.

    Hi there,
The configuration of SMB sharing on Leopard has changed compared to Tiger. To enable SMB access on Mac OS X 10.5, perform the following steps.
    1. Navigate to System Preferences > Sharing
    2. Enable File Sharing
    3. Select Options
    4. Enable 'Share files and folders using SMB'
    5. In the Accounts window, select the Account you will use to authenticate to the Mac. You will be prompted to authenticate as the Mac administrator.
    6. Click Done
    7. Ensure the folder you are scanning to is in the Shared Folders list and that the account you choose in Step 5 has Read & Write privileges to the folder.
Then on the iRC3200, check the following.
For the Host Name, the entry should read \\macbookpronameaccountname. Also, instead of using the 'macbookpro_name', you could use the MBP's ip address.
Note that the 'account_name' is the short name for the home folder where the scans folder (the folder you want to scan to) resides.
Then for the directory path, the file path syntax requires a leading back-slash ( \ ) and any additional sub-folders also require another back-slash as a separator. For example, \Desktop\Scans
So, for example, if the MBP was named 'Battlestar', the user home folder was 'Galactica' and the scans folder was 'Adama' located on the Desktop, then the syntax in the iRC3200 address book needs to be entered as follows:
Address Name: +Any name you want - this is just a label+
    Select the Windows (SMB) protocol
    Host Name: \\Battlestar\Galactica
    File path: \Desktop\Adama
Username: The account name you enabled in the Mac sharing
Password: The password for the account above
Re the B&W printing, if you are using the iRC3200 PPD or Generic PostScript, rather than the PS v1.81 driver, then check the copier Color Mode setting. This is located in Additional Functions > Printer Settings > Settings > Color Mode. Ensure this is set to Auto.

  • 10.5 and Canon ImageRunner 6870U: No Landscape Printing!

A while back (see here), I got my office's Canon ImageRunner 6870U all set up to run on my PowerBook G4 running Tiger. Recently, I got a new computer (MacBook Pro) running 10.5.4, and set up the ImageRunner, and all seemed great.
Until I wanted to print in Landscape.
The Print Preview appears to work correctly. When I print to PDF, it generates a landscape-oriented page and everything looks right. But when I send to the printer, it seems to have put the page into landscape orientation, but printed it onto the page in portrait orientation (i.e., there's a big top and bottom margin, and the right side of the page is cut off). I looked on the ImageRunner itself, which can display a preview of the page to be printed, and it displays exactly what it eventually prints (the wrong orientation), which implies to me that it's a problem on the Mac end.
The problem was previously reported by another person back in January at MacOSXHints. However, it sounds like they were printing (to a different iR model) using SMB, which I'm not (I'm using Canon IP). In any case, it doesn't seem like the problem was resolved for them.
Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!
    --Mike

Based on John's reply about the Page Setup > Orientation not being saved within a preset, which I totally agree with, I was wondering how your preset would be showing the document preview in the correct orientation. The only thing I can conclude is that the file must have been created as a landscape document, because the preset will not influence the orientation if this is set via Page Setup. So how is your landscape document printing on portrait paper?
I did some testing with our iRC6870. I created a landscape document in Word and then saved it as a pdf. I then opened the pdf in Preview, which showed the document in landscape orientation, and printed it using a preset that have stapling and two-sided set. This document printed fine.
I then took the same document, and chose to print it to a cassette that had the paper loaded as A4R. This was the only way I could get the landscape document to print the same as your result, with the large border on the top and bottom.
So, could the presets also have a tray selection saved, and this tray currently has the paper loaded in a rotated (short-edge feed) orientation?
If this is not the case, you also mentioned that you can preview the document on the 6870, which shows the output you are getting. Since there is no ability for the Canon board to do this, then I believe you do have the imagePASS-G1 print controller, as this RIP does give you previews of printed jobs. I also believe that you may be able to select orientation via the Printer Features and this was set in the preset. Can you confirm this please.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.0 printing to Canon ImageRunner 3220 prints only first page of multi-page documents?

We just got the new CS4 and with the Acrobat Pro 9.0 install, we cannot seem to print multi-page documents.  Only the first page comes through, and the queue clears as though the document's been fully printed.
We are running Windows XP Pro SP3, and the printer is the Canon ImageRunner irC3220.
I do not want to use the "Print as Image" option, as I don't want to rasterize the file before sending it to the printer. It's an important document and it's imperative that it is printed at high quality.
We had no problems printing with Acrobat 8.
I've seen old posts regarding this issue, but couldn't find anything newer that might have had an updated solution.
Thank you in advance!! any help would be sooo appreciated right now!

    Great! Many thanks
Is there actually a kind of marketplace for Javascipts for Adobe Acrobat Pro somewhere? ...
    Really useful!

  • Problems with Canon ImageRunner C6870U

I was wondering if any of you have experience with the Canon ImageRunner C6870U, or any of the ImageRunner series and would be willing to help. I have read several posts about other ImageRunner models, but haven't been able to solve my problem.
My office just got this new machine. I have downloaded the driver (v1.80) and installed according to the PDF in the disk image, but no luck. It appears that things have installed correctly, but when I go to print:
-- The "Special Features" menu doesn't appear in the pull-down menu of the Print dialog box. I have checked that the Page Setup specifies the printer model.
-- The PS PrintMonitor utility says "The Printer Is Ready."
-- When I tried to print, though, the job doesn't go and the print queue is stopped.
Interestingly, if I just set up the printer to communicate via AppleTalk in the Default Browser of the Printer Setup Utility, I can actually print to it, but the "special features" (e.g., mailboxes) don't appear in any dialog box.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times. I'm really confused! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response! I had read some of your previous posts related to the ImageRunner series, so I knew there were people around who could help.
    Here's what I've done now:
    1) I checked to make sure that LPD is active (it is), with a default queue name of "print." Port 9100 services are also available, and AppleTalk is enabled. Just a note -- on this model, I wasn't able to find this setting in the menus on the device, but rather using the Remote UI.
    2) I added the printer as you said ("More Printers" -> Canon IP (PS)), and entered the printer name and "print" under queue. In the printer list, the printer is identified as "iR5000-6000 Canon PS." (More on this below).
    3) Opened TextEdit and made a test document. When I hit Print, a little (Canon) warning appears on the screen saying "Acquiring Information From The Printer," then the standard Apple print dialog box pops up. In the pull-down menu, my choices are: Copies & Pages, Layout, Scheduler, Paper Handling, Color Sync, Cover Page, Error Handling, Quality, About, Supply Levels, and Summary. "About" says that I'm using the Canon PostScript Driver v1.80. "Quality" shows a blue box, and buttons for "Printer Info" and "Quality Settings..." The Printer Info button pops up a window that says, "Printer Information Generic", with one tab reading "Configuration," and info that the duplexing unit, stapler, etc are Available.
    4) When I try to Print, it appears to try to do it, but then the queue is stopped with the file still in the queue.
    5) The PS PrintMonitor program attempts to start up, but a dialog box pops up saying "Cannot find the printer to monitor: Print Monitor is closed."
    Other notes:
    a) I can select the printer in the Printer List and Show Info, and from here I can change the "Printer Model" (is this the PPD file?) from IR5000-6000 Canon PS" to "iR C6780 Canon PS." Changing this seems to have no effect.
    b) Setting up the printer using the IP Printer -> LPD process (rather than the Canon IP (PS) process) had the same results in every way, as far as I could tell. Putting in the IP number, rather than the printer name, has the same effects.
So I still can't get it to work -- from your post, it sounds like the driver isn't installing correctly, since I don't have the right menus under the pull-down menu in the Print dialog box.
Thanks again, hope you can help!

  • Canon ImageRunner Mailbox

I am upgrading from a Dell Latitude to a MacBook. My firm's network has Canon ImageRunner printers, and each of us has a mailbox on each printer. I've found the printers and can print to them, but I cannot seem to find the option, even within the Canon drivers (I think) to print to (store, really) my print jobs in my mailbox. Any similar experiences? I'm not sure that the Mac version of the ImageRunner drivers supports the store feature.
    Thanks for any suggestions/feedback.

    Hi PAHU,
I am still experiencing problems trying to print to my Canon iR3570 after reading all of your similar posts and was hoping that you may be able to provide some more advice.
I have looked at the printer and can see no sign of an EFI imagePASS controller (there's no other box attached to the printer - the ethernet cable goes directly into the side). I am therefore assuming that it is using the standard Canon controller.
I have uninstalled the Canon PS3 v1.80, reset the printer system and then reinstalled the driver. Using the "More Printers" option, I added the IP address the of the printer and a queue name of "LP" (and have tried with no queue name). The system finds the printer, but incorrectly identifies it as an "iR5000-6000". I have changed this to the correct driver (iR3570/4570PS) and the printer is added to the list of printers with the correct looking icon.
However, when I attempt to print, there is no "special features" menu so I cannot select my mailbox. If I attempt to print without specifying a mailbox the printer either goes to a paused status, or upon playing with various settings, outputs a few pages of postscript junk!
I tried using the imagePASS drivers, and this gave me the mailbox options, but it would not actually output anything other than postscript garbage.
I hope that I am missing something simple here, because there must a solution to this silly issue.

  • Can't scan to Mac OS 10.6.4 from Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7055 - HELP!

Hi all, our company just purchased a Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7055, I have the Drivers and all the Macs in the office (both 10.4.11 and 10.6.4) can print to the printer but when we try and connect via the Scanning feature from the Canon to the Mac OS 10.6.4 it doesn't work. All the File and Screen Sharing is On but it just doesn't see the Macs with OS 10.6.4 for the purpose of scanning to them (they can print to it however).
The Canon manual naturally has nothing on this problem so I'm hoping someone has encountered the same problem or is smart enough to work out what is going wrong from my post.
    Thanks in advance

Nevermind it was an issue with not having the SMB switched on in the File Sharing options.

  • Canon iP4500 - Switch OFF Color Management in Leopard 10.5.3

    Hello,
a few days ago I've got the Canon iP4500; I've downloaded the latest drivers for it (on the Canon web called 2.1, but when installed it says 10.1). I wanted to profile the printer with the EyeOnePhoto spectrometer, so I logically wanted to switch OFF the color management in the printer driver for printing the reference file..
So, after hours of frustration I must give up: I can't find any way to switch the color management off. In my previous Canon there was an "Color mode: None" option, but for the iP4500 there is only "Standard" and "Vivid", e.g. "None" is missing in the dropdown options.
I've googled hours and read the online help with no success. The online help says it should be there, in "Color Correction" section. It's not. Am I having too new driver version or am I missing something? I've tried everything possible already, set the color management to "Vendor" and "ColorSync", looked in ColorSync Tool, changed media.. Nothing.. From none application, with any possible setting combination, IT IS NOT THERE..
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much,
    Andrej

Unfortunately the Canon inkjet drivers are not provided with an uninstaller, so it requires a manual clean-up. Following is my uninstall/reinstall procedure for the iP series of Canon printers...
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Highlight the Canon printer in the Printer list and click the minus ( - ) button.
    2. Hold Control key and click in the empty Printers list. Click on Reset Printing System.
    3. Close Print & Fax
    4. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder.
    5. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the Canon driver package files. The file name will show Canon iP4500 xxx.pkg and there will be one for the Canon CUPS version, most likely showing v10.x.
    6. Go to Library > Preferences and delete the Canon folder.
    7. Empty the Trash
    8. Unplug the Canon USB cable and restart the Mac
    9. Reinstall the version 6.9.2 of the Canon driver.
    10. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
    11. Reconnect the Canon USB cable. Then open Print & Fax and see if the Canon printer is listed. If it is, try a test print.
    12. If the printer is not listed, click the plus ( + ) button.
    13. Select the Default view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer. This should be the v6.9.2 driver.
    14. Click Add to add the printer.

  • Networking color laserjet 3800 printer with Windows 7 OS

I have a color laserjet 3800 that is networked in an office of 5 computers using Windows XP pro OS.  I just purchased a HP pavilion Slimline Windows 7 64 bit OS computer.  The networking and printer networking set up was a breeze until it came to connecting the 3800.  I have downloaded the PCL 5, 6 and universal drivers.  When I go to add printer as a network printer and choose the 3800 it gives an error of not being able to find a driver.  I tried to manually find the driver but it does not find a match in PCL 5, 6 or universal driver.  The link below clearly shows the 3800 to be compatible with windows 7, but I cannot get it work.
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=HP%20Col...
The network absolutely sees the printer and lets it be chosen but does not let it get installed on the windows 7 machine.

  • Canon MP600R WiFi Network Scan/Print Failure

    Hi there
    My setup:
    * a Canon MP600R multifunctional printer/scanner
    * an Apple iMac running Snow Leopard
    * a Dell Laptop running Windows Vista, and
    * a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router.
The printer and the two computers are all wirelessly connected to the router - there are no USB cables or wired LAN connections being used between these machines. All the machines have statically configured IP addresses (printer included).
I can print and scan reliably from/to the Windows laptop. Printing from the Mac used to work reliably, but scanning to/from the iMac only worked once in a blue moon.
To try to fix this, I updated the drivers on the Mac to the latest versions for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and now I can't print or scan at all. The software I've been using is:
    From Canon Europe:
    * mp600rosxcp102620ea8-2.dmg - CUPS Printer Driver for OSX (10.26.2)
    * mp600rosxns10ea7-3.dmg - MP Drivers for Network (Snow Leopard) (1.00)
    * mp600rosxsd12131ej7.dmg - ScanGear CS for OS X (12.13.1)
    * mpnosx304ej7.dmg - MP Navigator- MP Navigator for Mac OS X (3.04)
    From Apple:
    * CanonPrinterDrivers2.3.dmg - Apple's Canon Printer Drivers (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899)
    From Canon Australia:
    * ntosxm270ea8-2.dmg - IJ Network Tool Ver. 2.7.0
After many delete/reinstall steps on the Mac (following PAHU's advice!) and much Googling - including disabling/enabling firewall settings, IPv6 settings and even various router RIP settings - I could do with some help please!
What appears to be happening is that the Mac can't 'see' the printer, whereas the PC can - the drivers all seem to be installed in a similar way, and once set up (using the one-off USB connection step that the installers seem to like) they all have the right MAC address info. However the Mac Network Scan Utility shows a warning next to the printer's MAC address, whereas the PC is happy. Likewise, the PC's printer utilities can tell me about ink levels, the Mac's one gives me a communication error and puts the printer into paused mode.
This leads me to believe it was something going on on the network. I can, however, ping the printer from the Mac and access it's web configuration interface - so it's not that the printer's unreachable from the Mac.
To try to see what was going on in a bit more detail, I installed Wireshark and did some captures of the use of the Network Tool and Scan Utility.
On the PC (192.168.0.4), which works, it appears to direct the BJNP discovery commands direct to the printers IP address (192.168.0.2).
On the Mac (192.168.0.5), which fails, it appears to be broadcasting BJNP discovery messages to the subnet (192.168.0.255) and receiving ICMP Parameter problem responses from the printer.
So, is this likely to be:
    A. the Canon drivers on the Mac
    B. the Netgear router doing something to stop the broadcast discovery, or
    C. something in the printer firmware?
If so, any ideas how to workaround it - for example, can I 'force' the Mac version of the drivers to not do broadcast discovery and simply go direct to the IP address like the PC?
    Any help, pointers, gratefully received!

    Hi PAHU
Thank you very much for responding - particularly with such detailed and reasoned advice!
I have just tried deleting the BJPrinter folder, restarting and reinstalling only the Apple Canon Printer Drivers 2.3. On opening Print & Fax -> Add Printer I don't see anything in the window (no Bonjour Scanner or canonijnetwork) - I have left it open for more than 20 minutes now and still nothing.
Using wireshark, I can see the Canon BJNP Discover packets to both 8611 and 8612 (and some mdns and db-lsp-disc packets). I can see the printer responding with error responses too:
