Printing to Canon LBP5000 on express?

I have acquired a Canon Lasershot LBP5000 colour laser printer. I have connected it via usb to express. My macBook can see it (in print preferences) but when I print NOTHING HAPPENS. CAPT drivers installed successfully on Mac... Any ideas anybody?

I don't believe that what you and the other user are experiencing is a common issue. I think that you need to be aware of the interplay between the driver, the Mac colour management system and the application.
When the iP6000D is connected directly to the Mac, then the Canon created driver will be used. This same driver cannot be used when the printer is being shared by Windows. In this setup the Gutenprint driver has to be used.
The Canon and Gutenprint drivers behave differently when it comes to colour management and have different settings. The Canon driver typically uses its own matching system while the Gutenprint driver uses ColorSync by default. Personally I only have experience with the Canon driver as none of my printers are being shared by Windows. I suggest you look at connecting the printer to the Mac via USB temporarily so that you can use the following info to achieve a good result.
With the Canon driver, the colour profiles are related to the paper stock selected. You can see the gamut of the respective paper profiles in ColorSync > Profiles. To achieve an optimal output you need to set the application so that the printer driver manages the colour. Then via the ColorSync menu you ensure the option is set to Canon Color Matching. The last step is to change to the Quality and Media menu and choose the correct media type and the print quality. Note that you will never get a good photo if you are printing on plain paper. The printers are profiled to give the best output with photo paper.
Do you get a lighter print when using the process above?

  • Printing problem with Macbook, Airport Express and new Canon IP4600

Just set up new printer, a Canon ip4600. Adding printer in System Preferences to my flat-screen iMac, I got it working using the Airport Express. But trying the same thing with the Macbook (2.4 GHz Intel), can't get it to print. (Both worked fine with previous Epson printer.) I fear it's a network issue, not sure what to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

For each of the AirPort Express Base Stations (AX), did you also change the "iTunes Speaker Name" on the Music tab when using the AirPort Admin Utility? Is this the name you're referring to from iTunes?

  • Trouble printing to Canon ip4200 over Airport Express from Windows XP

I've just spent the last 4 hours trying to get my Dell laptop running XP to print to my Canon ip4200 USB printer connected to my Airport Express. My PowerBook (10.3.4) connected without issue and has been working fine. The XP laptop just refused to print, and the "troubleshooter" was useless. It would print fine over a direct USB connection, but, despite following the directions for connecting an Airport Printer in XP to the letter, it failed to print every time.

The default Raw configuration for "Standard TCP/IP Port" was set to 9100. I manaully changed it to 9101 and all works great now.
I don't know where the default of 9100 came from, but this has cost me an entire morning of frustration. GRRRRR!

  • Printing impossib between Macbook pro OSX Leopard and Canon LBP5000 printer

I couldnot print using Mas OSX leopard and Canon LBP 5000 printer. If any one have a driver solution. Thanks and regards. Michel.

Hi all... it's the ninth... at least where i'm from. wondering if canon has released the drive. we're stuck in the middle of nowhere because of this driver issue. terrible. terrible. paid good money for leopard only to have major hiccups like this explode in my face. sigh.

  • Canon LBP5000 does not work after Leopard Upgrade

    Hi all,
We have a Canon LBP5000 that is directly connected to one of our iMac's and worked like a charm when we were using Tiger. After upgrading to Leopard, everything went weird. It is still installed but when we tried printing, we get a 'Load Paper' warning from the printer. After checking to make sure that the default paper was all in A4 format it still wouldn't print. We then tried hooking it up to an Airport Express to share and while trying to add it via Bonjour, an Error 9672. We're seriously looking at getting a new clour laser printer that works with Leopard as at this point in time, there is yet to be found a driver from Canon that works with Leopard. Any suggestions of colour laser printers that work with Leopard or solutions to our problems ?

    Hi Donny/PJB,
I did look and googled the drivers but the European site has outdated ones. We were actually using Japanese drivers CAPT (Ver. 1.60) for Tiger but it doesn't work now for Leopard. PJB, thanks for pointing out your post and I had a run through the Japanese site but it's all in Japanese
Anyway, I basically used common sense and updated the CAPT to (Ver. 1.61) but it still doesn't work after installing it. Every time I try to print or so a test print, the progress went Printing to Stopped.
When we click Resume it doesn't do anything and after 4 clicks, there was a short 'Fatal: Failed to load module' message pops up in the Print Queue dialog box. Has anyone actually have a Canon LBP 5000 printer that has worked with Leopard ? That is my question really...sigh.

  • Printer problem Canon MP170 "Failed to print document" error

I have a Canon PIXMA MP 170 printer connected to the airport express via USB.
I get the error failed to print document
I pinged the IP address and it is okay. I used Bonjour and Windows to configure printer and both do not work.
I can connect to my sterio with itunes to listen to music.
I asssume it must be with my printer driver are there any solutions for this problem?
    Thank you.

    Possibilities:
    1. Your Acrobat and OS are not compatible (you did not indicate either). It may be you had an install that was working marginally and the update from MS did it in.
    2. AcroTray is not running. Try printing to the Adobe PDF printer with the print-to-file selected. Then open the file in Distiller to create the PDF. If that works, check for AcroTray in the tasks list.
    3. Do a Repair of Acrobat. Sometimes the windows updates seems to cause problems and a repair is needed.

  • After upgrading to Maverick I can print from Canon IR5050. Downloaded new driver from Canon site with no luck.

I can not print from Canon IR5050 after installing Maverick. I downloaded new driver from Canon with no luck.

I'm almost completely certain that the scanning feature worked before the update. Having said that though, I don't scan a great deal and it may be the case that when I have done, the printer was directly connected to the MBP. However, since I have a laptop it's far more logical that I would have had the printer connected to Airport Express for reasons of portability so I can't really see that I would have had the printer connected directly to the laptop. Besides this, I have no memory of having this problem previously. Therefore, I don't think my memory is to blame although of course, if it were I'd have no way of knowing!

  • Print a report from Application Express direct to a CUPS Printer

Hi all, I'm new to this technology, is it possible to print a report from Application Express directly to a CUPS Printer? Can someone tell me in laymans terms how to do it? I find the terminology and documentation less than helpful.

    Jeremy,
BI Publisher handles submitting reports directly to a CUPS printer. However, the APEX integration doesn't currently integrate with that portion of BI Publisher.
    Here's an options:
Use the Java API of BI Publisher to build a custom Java program that would do this for you. Delivering to CUPS is part of the Java API.

Have you ruled out an issue with the driver for the printer? It is possible that the material on the installation disk was developed prior to PSEv.12. I understand that everything is new, but who knows what the date of production is. You can check on Canon's web site for driver update.

  • Can't print to Canon LBP7200Cdn after Lion upgrade

Since upgrading to Lion, I can't register (and therefore can't use) my office printer, a Canon LBP7200Cdn.
I tried for weeks to get it to work with the interim driver Canon released with Lion, then gave up and waited for the full driver. Then that didn't work either.
Installation of the driver appears to work fine, but once the printer is registered, printing from any program gives me the error message "/Library/Printers/Canon/CUPSCAPT/Bins/capdftopdl failed".
The problem is the same whether connecting via USB or IP.
I had the same problem when I updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.7, but installing Canon's new driver fixed it. Now nothing works and I haven't been able to print since the summer. No other Mac users are having this problem (but I'm the only one running Lion). Would welcome help from anyone.

  • HP Laserjet printer connected to my Airport Express?

I have bought a HP Laserjet printer and I want to connect it to my Airport express, so I can print wireless. I have my Airport express installed and connected to my router via Ethernet cabel and I the printer is connected to the Airport station by a USB cable. But my Macbook Pro can't find the printer when I search for it? What might the problem be?
    Hope someone can help!

The problem may be that the AirPort Express does not support your printer model.  Not all printers are supported, and Apple tends to favor popular, lower priced All-in-One devices for USB support.
On your Mac....open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Print & Scan
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list
Hopefully, your printer model will appear. If it does, click on the name of the printer to highlight it, then click Add to install the printer at the location of the AirPort Express
Try to print. Be sure to select the correct location of your printer, as it may appear as a printer connected to your MacBook Pro and as a printer connected to the AirPort Express. You must choose the correct location to be able to print.
If your printer model does not appear when you click the + button in the steps above, about all that you can do is contact HP Support to see if they have an updated printer driver that you could download and install....that might allow the print function at the AirPort Express.

  • Hard drive, printer, PS3, etc to Airport Express

Hi guys.  I have a few devices that I want to hook up somehow but am not quite sure how to go about it.  I have some knowledge but when people provide highly technical responses, I sometimes get lost in it all so please go easy on me.    I've already read several threads and I think I've gotten myself completely turned around so I thought I would ask you fine people.
For what it's worth, I have the old style of Airport Express that does NOT have the ethernet output port though that woud help to simplify things a bit if I did.
I currently have an Airport Express, a USB hard drive, a PS3, a macbook and a printer (non-wireless).  I'd like to somehow get everything hooked up and playing well with each other.  Currently the Macbook and AE work together just fine as does the iPhone.  That's great.
The PS3 connects to the AE wirelessly as well but I'd like to find a way to get the PS3 connected to the internet via ethernet cable instead to speed it up a bit though this isn't a life or death sort of situation at all.  I'm also not sure if doing so would make it so that my macbook couldn't stream to it wirelessly for movies and such.... ok... I've just answered my own question on that one.  Nevermind the PS3 part.  Wireless it is.
Now, the trouble that I'm having is logistics about where things have to be in my apartment.  I have one cable outlet so the cable modem and airport express have to be in one particular corner.  There is not room to put the printer over there too so I can't connect the printer directly to the airport express.  I also know that I can't connect the hard drive to the AE directly (as much as I wish that were possible).  What is the simplest and most affordable way that I can somehow get the printer AND the hard drive to be available wirelessly on my network while not at all being in the same physical location of my apartment?  They'd need to be on the other side of the apartment.
I am ok with the idea of needing to add another device to handle the hard drive and printer (ie another wireless modem) though I don't know what would necessarily work with the existing AE well or what I should be looking for.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Here are some facts to consider:
    1) Hard drive
The AirPort Express will not support a hard drive at its USB port. You need an AirPort Extreme for that type of functionality.
    2) PS3
As you already know, in order to connect the PS3 using Ethernet, you will need the "new" AirPort Express with both a WAN and LAN port. The PS3 would connect to the LAN <-> port. An AirPort Extreme would work as well for this, as it provides 3 LAN ports.
    3) USB Printer
The USB cable of the printer must connect to the USB port on the AirPort Express.
If you cannot locate the printer close enough to the Express to be able to connect to it, you will not be able to use the printer that you have.
In that case, consider a wireless printer to connect to the network wirelessly. Then, you can locate the printer anywhere you want as long as it is in range of the wireless signal.
I have one cable outlet so the cable modem and airport express have to be in one particular corner.
Leave the cable modem where it is. You can run an Ethernet cable any length that you need from the modem to the AirPort, so you can locate the AirPort anywhere the Ethernet cable will go. Cables come in 10 feet, 25 feet, 50 feet etc lengths in any color that you want.
For example, my modem is in the garage. The AirPort is in my office about 60 feet away.
Bottom line.....it sounds like you need an AirPort Extreme to handle the hard drive and the USB printer. You can use one of the 3 LAN ports to connect the PS3, and still have 2 available ports for future expansion.
