Printing to HP PSC1300 Series shared by Windows XP

I have configured my macbook to print to a HP 1300 PSC printer on a Windows network. I have downloaded all the drivers and they appear in my printer list - and I have configered to print to the printer (a HP PSC 1355) on the network. When I print my macbook is happy and the print job arrives in the PC (running XP) queue fine - then it sits - freezing the Windows print queue.
The printer makes a few noizes but then nothing !! I can print to the printer on the USB - but not on the network.
Help !! I love my new MAC and want to beleive it is a Windows problem - but maybe not.

It's me again. I have found after a bit of experimentation that the HP 1100 Series driver works fine with this printer. All I can assume at this stage is that it's a problem with the driver ...
Cheers,
Krish

  • HP All-in-One 2355 Shared from Windows PC - Cannot print from any Mac

    Hi all!
I have a HP All-in-One 2355 printer. It is installed correctly on my Mac, and when I try to use it connected by USB, works fine.
But the printer is all the time conected to a PC, where is installed to. The PC runs Windows XP, at is in the same Wireless network as my MacBook Pro. The printer is "shared" on this PC.
When I search the HP 2355 with my MacBook throught wireless, I can find it. I see it if I going to Preferences Settings, Printers, Windows, Workgroup... Then I can add the printer, but I can't select any driver to asign, because the driver for HP All-in-One 2350 series don't appear.
What can I do? I contacted with HP, but they tell me that they don't support sharing between Windows and Mac.
    Please, Help me!

    Install this three-part driver:

  • Printer sharing with Windows 7 64 bit

I am trying to install an HP laserjet 1320 printer connected to a Windows XP Pro 32 bit machine.  Windows 7 goes out and tries to find the approriate drivers but reports that a suiable driver could not be found.  The printer installs fine when connected to the Windows 7 machine via USB port.  Downloaded and unzipeed the Universal print driver HP's site says is the correct driver - no luck.  Tried installing using the share name - same error message.

I found that I had issues with getting all of these to work - individually.  I have an XPPro (32) pc trying to print to Win7Ultimate printer - printer is shared with all settings wide open, works great with another 7 or Vista machine, but same errors
as above for XP.  I got it to work an old way, and then the "local port" way worked.  I don't really know why as yet, but I am investigating.
    My Solution -
    1. As stated in other posts, install the printer locally on the XP machine.  Make sure that it prints.
2. Connect the printer to the 7 machine, print a test, then change the file and print sharing options to "yes".  I also installed the "Universal Driver" for my printer - HP1200 Laserjet.
    3. Make sure that the Network type that the 7 machine sees is "Work" or "Home", not "Public". -  I don't know if this really  did anything or not, but I did make the change - mine thought the network was "Public".
    4. Go back to the XP machine, if you get errors when you add the "Local Port" as suggested, then do this -
    Warning Old Dos Trick -
         -  Open a Command Prompt, then type (without quotes) "net use Lpt1 \\COMPUTERNAME\PRINTERSHARE " - where "computername" is the name of the computer and sharename is the shared name of the printer
    on that computer.
        - you SHOULD see "command completed successfully", if not check to make sure that you have rights on the 7 machine.  Now you should be able to print a test page to the printer. CAUTION - it took awhile for the changes to
take, so you may have the hourglass looking at you for a few minutes. - Once you reboot this will not work as the connection is just for that session.
To explain: this command is the dos version of what happens when you re-route output to a different destination - thus any traffic to LPT1 goes to \\computername\sharename.
    5. After this worked, I then could add the "local port", as detailed earlier and had no errors.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • File and Printer Sharing between Windows 7 RC and XP

I was wondering if any one has successfully networked Windows 7 with XP? I have several machines on a home network, only this one on Windows 7, all the others are XP Pro. While I can browse and access files on the XP machines from Windows 7, I am unable to access files on this machine from any of the XP machines on the network. Also have been as of yet unable to print from this machine to a shared printer on one of the XP machines. When I try to add the neworked printer to this machine, I get an access denied error. There must be some prmisions settings I am missing some where.
Any help would be apriciated. If this queston has already be ansewared in another post, I apologize as I did search unsucsesfuly for the solution.

Quote from "Jimbo45" on Windows 7 forum...
    http://www.sevenforums.com/network-internet/4602-xp-7-printer-sharing.html
I've posted on this before but to share Printers attached to XP computers with either X-64 or X-32 versions of W7 is SIMPLE. These instructions are for the Printer attached to the XP machine (but works in reverse as well).
("Stand alone" Network printers can be done slightly similarly BTW).
assume the computers are call XPMACHINE and W7MACHINE.
    1) Ensure Printer on XP machine is shared - assume it's called SHAREDPRINTER.
    2) On the Network Browsing on your W7 machine ensure you can "See" the Printer share.
Now on the W7 machine do the following (doesn't matter if it's X-86 or x-64).
    3) Control Panel==> add LOCAL (Yes LOCAL) printer. I know it's on a Network but hold your horses -- what we are actually doing is "Poodlefaking" the W7 machine into thinking it's running the printer.
    4) Create NEW port==>Local port
    5) Portname is \\XPMACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER
    6) Now W7 will load a driver and you'll be able to print on the XP machine.
    Simple
(For a "Network stand alone printer") at 4) chose TCPIP port
and at 5) enter the IP address.
If the printer is on the W7 machine and you want to print on the XP machine then do the same instructions on the XP machine --
port name in this case will be \\W7MACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER
It worked fine for me, I wonder why Microsoft don´t give this method as default?

  • File and Printer sharing on Windows 7 Through Group Policy

    Hi,
I was wondering how to enable File and Printer sharing on Windows 7 Through Group Policy. I have enabled the policy called: Allow inbound file and printer sharing exception.
But when I go to advanced sharing settings, it's still turned off.
Windows Server 2003 AD Domain, and I'm using the Group Policy Manager from my Windows 7 machine to edit the policy.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, there is no Group Policy setting for enabling and disabling File and Printer sharing. To do this, you may need to write a script and you can go to our Scripting Forum for help.
In addition, I would like to share the following with you:
Enable or Disable File Sharing for a User or Group by Using Group Policy
Network and Sharing Center Group Policy Settings
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • Sharing a Windows Printer

I am trying to setup a Canon PIXMA 5200 printer. The printer is attached by USB to a Windows PC. I can access the network and see the printer, but the printer model does not appear on the drop down menu. If I install the printer to the Mac by USB cable, then the correct driver is used and the printer functions normally.
How can I use this printer when it's installed on the Windows based PC?
    Thanks in advance.

Glad to be of some help. This bug does smack of Windows XP. Maybe I'm biased.
Mark, thanks for your info. I have been printing
just fine for many version of MAC OS X with my
printer shared name of "Epson Photo 900". I do not
print very often from my MAC but when I want to, it
    is great to have.
Anyway, yesterday i went to print, and my XP printer
did not show up. After searching the forum, i came
accross your post, and changed the name to one word
title Epson_900, and like magic it showed up. Wonder
whose bug this one is, MACs or XPs?
    Anyway thanks again,

  • Printer Sharing with Windows Desktop

I wanted to share my HP Printer over the Wi-Fi network.
The printer is connected to my HP Pavilion Windows PC.
I added the network printer and when i print, it displays error message:
    "Connection Error: NTSTATUS_BAD_NETWORKNAME"
How can i fix this problem?
    Thanks!
P.S. I tried plugging the printer to my iBook directly via USB, and of course, it worked perfectly without installing any drivers. But it's nicer if i can print via network without pulling and plugging out cables everytime. Also, the iBook can "communicate" with my PC, as both can share files.

I've had a similar problem with my HP Printer, I don't get an error message printed but I do when I try to print- it just hangs. Again, when attached there are no probs and the iBook and desktop PC can communicate fine. I looked into it a bit more and found out that HP knew about the problem and were working on driver updates. It may be that this is the problem with your as well and until HP do something about it we're stuffed! Try going to the HP website and downloading the most upto date drivers for ur iBook and PC. It may help! Sorry to be the bringer of bad news!

  • Connect Mac OS 10.6 to canon ip3600 shared on windows XP home

I am trying to connect my Mac OS 10.6 to a canon ip3600 printer shared on windows XP home. I have read dozens of posts on this topic and tried dozens of solutions. Although the Mac will identify the printer and apparently connect, when I print nothing comes out of the printer. During my reading around the topic, I have come to the conclusion that my printer has a particularly troubled relationship with Macs. If there is anyone out there who has chosen the same configuration of products I would be extremely pleased to hear how they eventually established printing to the shared printer.

Unfortunately it is not possible to use the Canon MF series from a Mac when the printer is being shared by Windows. This is due to limitations of Canon's UFR2 driver for OS X.
But if your wireless router has an Ethernet port then you would be able to print from the Mac and from Windows if the MF4680 Ethernet port was connected to the Ethernet port of the wireless router. All the printer will require is an IP address, which the router can assign automatically (DHCP). If your wireless router does have an Ethernet port and you need information on how to set the MF4680 to DHCP then please reply.

  • Printing problem with forms 4.5 on windows xp

    Hi,
We have an application using forms 4.5 on DB version Oracle 9207 running on winxp.
Recently the clients were formatted for virus infection problems.
Now when a print job is fired from a client to a shared printer, system flashes error
*" NO PRINTER PORT FOUND IN REGISTRY "*
The same job print to a local printer , also all windows test page printing print ok to the same shared printer .
This error is flashed only when the print job is fired from Forms 4.5 to a shared printer on the network
    Please Advise urgently
    Altaf

Urgently restore a backup of the registry.
Urgently do not use the word 'urgently' in a forum of volunteers.
Also it can not be urgent, as Forms 4.5 dates from the Flintstone age, and probably isn't even certified on XP.
However, the error message is very clear: Apparently Forms 4.5 uses the registry to store printer info: you need to get that entry back. That kind of info is usually documented. Documentation is likely still online.

  • Unable to connect to HP PSC1510 shared at Windows XP

As the title suggests I've got a HP PSC1510 All-in-one printer attached by USB to a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine. The printer has been shared in Windows.
I've tried following various articles on the Apple Support site, but nothing seems to work. I can't locate the printer on the network, and as a result I can't connect to it.
Is there some trick that I am overlooking? Any help would be very welcome.

There are two issues here - connection protocol and driver. For driver, look up your model here and install the recommended driver:
    http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/macosx
(You need a CUPS driver because HP's driver was written for USB only)
    Then follow this guide:

  • Networking ~ File Sharing With Windows Vista

Alright, I've browsed enough of the web and I've tried a lot to try and resolve this issue, but none of it has worked at all for me. Here's my scenario about as specific as it gets:
I have a home private network consisting of two Windows Vista PCs, a HP Photosmart Printer, a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1, and an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4. The network is routed through a Medialink MWN-WAPR300N router connected to a Time Warner Cable modem which goes to the Internet. My primary PC, the MacBook Pro, and the iPhone 5 all connect wirelessly; the other PC and printer connects via Ethernet. All devices connect to the Internet flawlessly, and they are all assigned a static LAN IP address through the router because I portforward to one of my PCs, and the router requires it. The network was originally configured using one of the PCs as a Private network under the default workgroup, "WORKGROUP". Everything else router-specific is automatic.
Here's the problem: My MacBook and my primary PC do not communicate over the network at all. Both the MacBook and my primary PC can file share with the other PC connected via Ethernet, and they can both print just fine. After using LAN Scan v1.02 by Nutec Apps, LLC on my iPhone however, neither my primary PC nor the MacBook Pro shows up on the list of LAN devices. But that's not all, the MacBook Pro always recognizes the other PC via Ethernet in Finder, and the MacBook Pro can be found in both PC's Network list. However, when I try to connect to it via my primary PC, it says that "[My MacBook] is not a valid host name." What?
To futher satisfy my curious mind, I set up a small Peer-to-Peer network between my primary PC and the MacBook Pro via Ethernet. Both devices instantly recognized each other and connected without any issues. I was able to transfer files at approximately 100mb/s and I was stoked. I then disconnected and tried to transfer over the network again, and there was nothing there. I have even done ping tests over the network to the MacBook Pro's LAN IP address, and it came back with no response.
I've restarted both computers numerous times, played around with file sharing settings, set appropriate sharing permissions, disabled firewalls, enabled sharing for Windows on the MacBook Pro, enabled file sharing on the Windows PC, you name it. I'm sure there is a small fix that I may have overlooked, but I cannot figure out what the problem is for the life of me. Because the operation worked via Ethernet, and it's working wireless-to-Ethernet, but not wireless-to-wireless, I have a feeling that the problem is related to one or both of the wireless configurations.
Thanks in advance for any help provided, if there is anything I missed I will be happy to proivde more details per request. This issues has been bugging me for weeks now and it's time I seeked professional help

Alright, I am still having the problem and I have the results of the ifconfig command if it will be of any help to any Apple techies out there:

The section in question is where it says bridge100 because the IP address listed under that section reads 192.168.2.1, as previously suggested. However another IP address is listed above it as 192.168.1.104, which is exactly what it should be as I have it assigned via DHCP in the router. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, because this is driving me crazy.
PS: I apologize for the confusion. I made a typo in my previous post about my MacBook's LAN IP address. It should be 192.168.1.104, not 103. I can confirm that it is listed as *.104 in my router and it shows *.104 on the above ifconfig. Please ignore the *.103, thanks

  • Printer HP Envy 4500 Series cannot be contacted over the network

My wireless printing chooses when it wants to work, and right now it's really acting up. It is connected wirelessly, it is the default printer, but after troubleshooting it is telling me "Printer HP Envy 4500 Series cannot be contacted over the network." What can I do to get printing again?

    Hello featherfamily,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer not connecting with a wireless connection.
Please click on the following link that deals with when the 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • IPhone 4 AirPrint printing issue (AirPrint Installer 1.3 for Windows)

I have been trying to get AirPrint working on my iPhone 4 (CDMA/Verizon) for a while now without success
I know that the AirPrint feature is designed to work with AirPrint compatible HP WiFi printers (as Apple dropped support for OS X), though I have no plans on buying a new printer when I have 2 perfectly fine printers shared on the network, let alone one specifically designed to work with AirPrint
I have tried out AirPrint Installer 1.3 for Windows (running on WinXP MCE 2005), but can't seem to get it to work properly
After installing AirPrint Installer, I was able to see one printer from the iPhone (from a laser printer shared from another computer on the network), and was able to send a print command from the iPhone to the XP MCE computer, but I kept getting "Error-Printing" from the print que (on XP MCE)
After sharing a printer connected locally (via USB), I was able to print from my iPhone once successfully, but nothing from the iPhone would show up in the que on XP MCE since
Since then I have also shared the Microsoft XPS Document Writer (saves "printed" documents to an XPS file) as a way to tinker around with AirPrint without wasting paper, ink, and/or toner, and was unable to print from it
Now whenever I attempt to print from my iPhone, I have the option of 3 printers, the shared laser on a different computer on the network, the local inkjet via USB, and the Microsoft XPS Document Writer, selecting any of them will then give me a message with an image of a piece of doggy eared paper saying "Printing to "<Printer Name>" Sending to Printer" as if it's about to print, but there is no change on XP MCE, the print cue shows nothing, and nothing prints and I don't get a popup asking where I would like to save (when using the XPS Document Writer), yet I can print fine from the computer itself
Also, I have noticed that after a while, the printers will disappear from the list (on the iPhone) one by one, and I have to constantly uninstall and reinstall AirPrint Installer, only for it to not work again
Am I doing something wrong? I have updated iTunes, I don't have a software firewall, and I am pretty sure I have installed AirPrint Installer 1.3 correctly
I have also tried using AirPrint Activator and AirPrint Hacktivator on my MBA, but I only have Leopard on it (haven't upgraded to Snow Leopard yet, and may not for a while), so AirPrint Hacktivator will close unexpectedly (constantly), and AirPrint Activator gives me an error saying I need at least Snow Leopard, so I would really appreciate it if I could get AirPrint Installer 1.3 to work

I have been having exactly the same problem as Mike's original problem as well as this problem as well. Originally, i couldn't get the iphone to see all my shared printers. I have an Epson RX580 ink jet all in one printer and a HP P1006 laser jet printer. They are both shared printers. Both are able to be printed to from other wired and wireless computers in my network. They are both showing as ready when I look at them in the printer/fax window.
I'm using Window's XP SP3 with all the latest updates. I originally down loaded a german version of this AirPrint Installer 1.3. It didn't have all the bells this version does. After DL'ing this version AirPrint Installer 1.3, My Verizon Iphone 4 with 4.2 OS could see the printers on my network.
When I try to print an email or picture. I takes me to the screen on the iphone to choose the printer I want to use. When I choose either printer and click the "Print" button, it takes me to a screen that says "Communicating with Printer" with an image of a page of paper with the edge turned down. After about 30-45 seconds the screen reverts back to the email or picture. After another min or so, a message will pop up saying that the printer is offline with one button that says cancel and another button that says continue.
If I look at the print que for the printers, there is nothing in the que, but when I high light the printer in the printer/fax window some extra options become available that aren't there if there are really no jobs in the cue. One of the options on the left is the option to cancell all print jobs. When I click this, the computer looks like it does something cause the screen kind of flickers and then the option dissappears.
I would really like to be able to print pic's straight from my iphone and would love to get this working. Would really appreciate any help with this issue.

  • File Sharing With Windows

Right this is annoying the **** out of me. I've enabled everything I should on my Mac to get it sharing with windows. I'm convinced I've broke my OSX, but there's clearly something I've missed which is stopping this from working that maybes someone else can see! So here we go
    Gone to system preferences, sharing
    -> Ticked file sharing
-> Ticked share files over SMB
    -> Ticked my user
-> Added what I want to share and gave permission to everyone as read/write for public folder.
-> Gone to network preferences and setup the WINS server to the same group as my windows PC
Just got the standard apple firewall running on my mac. I've tried disabling this and letting anything through.
The problem im having is my windows laptop cant see my mac quite often. Sometimes it can, and when it can see my mac it only displays shared printers rather than any of my shared folders. The problem here is that I dont have any printers on my mac, and printer sharing is not enabled.
Any idea why this isnt working? I've disabled windows firewall/any other firewall on my windows laptop. My windows laptop can happily access the FTP and HTTP on my Mac. Just has issues file sharing.
I actually had this working a while ago for a day, then it's never worked since. I cant for the **** of it figure out why. I've gone through loads of tutorials to see if i've missed things. Some things have even told me to change a registry file in windows, which I've done to no success.
    Cheers in advance!

I downloaded the drivers from the Samsung website for the CLX-3180 Series, the software installs (at least it says it did).
I then go to add printer under printers/scanners and select Samsung CLX-3180 Series from the window. Messages indicate that the software was downloaded and updated and then I get the message "An error occurred while trying to add the selected device; Unable to find an appropriate software on your system after running software update."
I then reset the printer system, update the system software, restarted the laptop and tried again; still get the same error message.
