Printing to Kodak 1400

I have a kodak 1400 printer with legal sized paper. When I go to print, it will only print 4x6 photos two-up in landscape orientation. If I switch my printer to a Canon 4300 with the same size paper it will print three-up in landscape.
For years, I've been exporting to Kodak EasyShare as it will let me print the photos rotated and 4+ to a page.
Is there some way to create custom page setups for iPhoto, as it's silly to do this whole export/print deal!?

  • Won't Print to Kodak 1400 Professional - "Printing" never ends

Hi - Using MacBook Pro 17" and Aperture. OS 10.4.x. Out of box, new Kodak 1400 Professional Printer worked fine, and printed several great pictures. A week later, I was unable to print anything at all. Printer Window shows "PRINTING" and the twirling barber pole thermometer, but it NEVER prints however long I wait and no error message.
I've opened and closed printer, restarted printer and computer, checked that the firmware is up to date, re-set the paper in tray, etc. ALSO, it won't print JPGS from Preview, or apparently anything.
    What could have happened?
    Fix?

I have no idea if this will help anyone, but it helped me. I had my Kodak 1400 working with no problems for quite a while. I never really printed much, but I did now and then. About two months ago, I ran out of paper and didn't purchase any more for a while. I finally got my two packs (so I could get the third free!) about two weeks ago. I now have two clients who need prints, a total of about 85 8x10s.
So, I setup the printer, installed the driver, and started going about my business. Setup the prints, got it all rolling, and prepared to run the first print through as I've found the first print on a new ribbon is a dud due to dust. Nothing happened. It went to "printing" and stared at me as though it were as dumbfounded I asked it to print as I was that it WASN'T printing.
That was yesterday. Since then, I've removed the driver about a bajillion times. Googled this, FAQ'd that, held my tongue appropriately, used different USB cables, different USB ports, removed the other printer, blahdy blahdy blah. Then, this afternoon while I was somewhere between awake and sleep, it hit me: why not try an older driver. I thought about it, and realized that since the last time I was using the 1400 successfully, I'd reinstalled OSX. What were the odds that when I downloaded the driver the last time, I downloaded the "wrong" driver and got the old one (1.0.2) instead of the NEW correct driver, 2.0.0.
So, I removed the old driver from everywhere I could. Restarted the computer. Installed 1.0.2, cliked print, and felt my heart sink as the red Error light blinked intermittently with the "Media" light. Shot through the heart... then, all of a sudden, it sucked in some paper, and started printing! Problem solved!
So, if you still can't print, try using 1.0.2. It might not work, but if you can't print with 2.0.0, what harm can it do? NONE! Muhahahaha. I feel so adventurous for using an old driver. (yes, this is what now counts as "adventure" for me... now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.)
    Hope that works for someone!

  • Aperture Printing Error on Kodak 1400 Pro

I, like many others have had some dread problems printing with Kodak's great 1400 thermal printer. The problem is with SIZES. Aperture doesn't send correct size info to the printer so the prints come out inaccurate.
To update everyone else - I just came off the phone with Kodak and they said that fixing the driver was on their 'wish list' but couldn't say IF or WHEN it would ever happen.
Because the driver works fine with just about every other App... liek Photoshop etc. I'd say it sounds like it would be just as easy - and responsible - for Apple to release an update to Aperture and iPhoto that resolve the same issue. I wish they'd get current software working before spending all their effort on new stuff like Leopard.
Please Apple, it's a printer designed specifically for photography, and so is Aperture... so someone needs to sort it out!

I find that jpeg exports from Aperture can be greatly improved in iPhoto prior to printing. Something very different about the two histograms it seems. After tweaking and cropping in iPhoto I drag the required files to the desktop and then print from Elements 3 on my Kodak 1400.
It doesn't really bother me that the drivers don't work in iPhoto or Aperture as there is often something needing the attention of Photoshop's clone tool or neutral density layers prior to printing anyway. Then again I don't print huge amounts as most of my commercial and PR work is emailed these days.
It would be nice if it worked properly, you are right, but the work around I employ for the kind of work I am engaged in is no problem to me.

  • Ordering Photoshop Element Album Print on Kodak Gallery

I have spent many many hours creating an album using Photoshop Element 7,0 and then wanted to print using Kodak Gallery. Did not work. Here is what happened:
Click on the PSE file on the organizer.
Then click 'Order print' and landed on Kodak Gallery site and logged in, I can see my album there but could not find a way to simply order a print copy of it.  Only choice seems to select 'New album' which then would force me to redo all the work, reselecting templates etc...
    What am I missing ?

A bit more details should help here.  Essentially, I am talking about trying to export a PSE album file from Photoshop Element to the Kodak Gallery website to order a print copy. Here how I did it:
    1. Went from 'organiser' to Create Photobook, imported all my pictures and created the pse file using Photoshop Element 6,0 templates, backgrounds etc.
    2. Saved it in Organiser and on a separate file located on my desktop.
    3. Reopen Organiser, clicked on Share, Order print which directed me to Kodak Gallery site. I could see there my pse file or album.
    4. Tried to find a print album function to just order a print copy but did not find anything like it.Always forced to go through their 'New album' function which essentially meant redoing all the work.
    5. Tried to use the print photo function but then would not import or use pse file, only jpeg.
    Hope this help.

Can my ipad2 print to a wifi printer?  Kodak hero 4.2

here is the link to the current list of printers that are airprint enabled.  I am sorry to say, there are no kodak entries.  check the app store to see if Kodak has place a workaound in an app, but given their status, I would bet not.

  • Printing to Kodak 5300 AIO

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has tried to print photos from iphoto to one of Kodak's new All-in-One inkjet printers (5100, 5300 or 5500). What kind of results you have had, and is it as simple a process as kodak suggests with the printer determining the optimum settings.
My prints from iphoto to my canon ip8500 are a little dark typically so I have created a "custom" preset in the print dialog to lighten the prints up a bit. I was just curious if anyone has any experience with these new printers.
    Thanks for your comments.
    Tom

I just ordered a Kodak 5300 after seeing prints of the exact same photo (8X10) printed on an the HP photo printer, the high end Epson priner with pigment ink and a Kodak 5300. I put the prints in order of quality (without knowing printer) and Kodak was 1st, followed by epson, then HP. I currently have an Epson and I am tired of cost of the ink ($80 for the full set and $37 for the BW.)

  • New Mac Mini won't print on Kodak AIO 7

We bought a new Mini yesterday and I've already run into a problem. Although my Mac recognizes my Kodak AIO 7 printer and I've been able to wireless scan from it to the Mac, I can't print from the Mini to the AIO. I get an error message that says that it can't connect to the print.
It's odd and I haven't been able to find a fix. Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Have you updated drivers and printer firmware from http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=1 3657/13660&product=EKN035329&operatingSystem=macos_x_10_6x (assuming your Kodak AIO 7 is the same as the Kodak ESP 7, which is an AIO)

  • Iphoto 6 -- why am i not getting properly framed prints from kodak

I email 4x6 digital images (taken with my panasonic lumix camera) using the iphoto 6 service to be printed and mailed back to me (by kodak, i think) and despite my careful framing of the photos, the prints commonly end up cutting off heads and limbs, etc. I'm always surprised when the print contains part of the image that I'd deliberately cropped out. How is this possible. Am I doing something wrong. Here's one more question from a beginner: is there some way to get the prints mailed back in the sequence taken (they always seem wildly out of sequence). Thanks.

    David:
Did you crop your images to 4 x 6 before ordering the prints? If not, then that's why you're getting some parts of the top and bottom getting cut off. The long size is sized to the paper and any excess of the short side, the height, will be cut off equally on top and bottom. You can see the effect if you go to crop a photo and select 4 x 6 in the constrain menu. The default crop area will pop up on the photo and you'll see what will be lost.
    Do you Twango?
P.S. After positing the crop area on the picture you must click on the crop button before hitting the Done button or the crop will not be made.

  • IPhoto '08 no longer prints to Kodak EasyShare printer dock series 3

I installed iLife '08 last week. Used iPhoto '08 for the first time today. It will not longer print to the Kodak EasyShare printer dock series 3 photo printer. I get the message that the "Cartridge and tray type do not match."
I called Kodak. They have never seen this error message before. They had me update the EasyShare software because it is connected to iPhoto in the background when it comes to printing. Everything prints perfectly from the EasyShare software but it still will not print from iPhoto '08. It did from the previous versions.
Kodak believes that it is an iPhoto problem.
Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem yet. I didn't find any when I did a search.
It's kind of silly to export a photo from iPhoto to EasyShare just to print.
    thanks...

I was having the same problem with my Kodak Photo Printer 300, except that I could not print from ANY app other than Preview (I have iPhoto '08 also, but I never used the printer with an older version so I don't know if the problem happened after I upgraded iLife). I was able to work around the problem by using "4x6" as the paper size instead of "L-size." Hope this helps.

Looking for help with printing to a windows shared printer but I believe I need instructions for a domain rather than a workgroups??? Trying to print to a windows shared Epson Stylus Photo 1400 from a Mac running OS 10.4.11. Sharing works fine to other PC's an a network using active directory. • Printing through Kodak with one button in iPhoto

    I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4.
While visiting a friend who has v.7 I noticed there was a 'Kodak' button at the bottom of the window. She explained that that connected with the Kodak site and you could then send the pictures you wanted to be printed. Does anyone know about this feature?
I would absolutely LOVE to have that, but I some suspect that it comes with the iLife for $ 99.00 or so and it is definately not in my budget. Does anyone know if that is only with iLife? Or are there other ways to get it?
Thank you in advance for your information.
    Regards,
    Milli.

    Thank you Terence!
That possibility had crossed my mind, the problem with it was that the person who had it on her computer is a complete and utter computer illiterate, and there is NO WAY she could have done this. That for me was the reason to turn to this forum first.
I did find it on the Kodak site, thank you very much for your help!

  • Printing to Kodak 1440

Anyone managed to come with any settings so that Aperture will actually fill the paper without leaving a silly 1" border around the edge? I put this in as a bug in V1.0 but no fix in 1.1, making Aperture utterly useless for printing, and that "scale" dialogue in the print menu, and the "border" options really just don't work.

  • Printing with Kodak ESP7 and BT infinity

    OK,
So I have had my macbook with OSX lion 10.7 for a year, and also my Kodak ESP7 printer. This was fine. Connected wirelessly and printing was good. In December we upgraded our wireless to BT infinity from BT homehub. Since then my macbook cannot find the printer at all. Both are connected to the wireless network and showing 100% connection.
If I connect the printer via USB it appears and I can print, but this is not the ideal solution for me based on my printing needs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. I have turned everything off and on again and restarted.
What can I do to fix this?

The printer is optimized for HP paper with the default settings/options. To print decently on other types of paper, the printer settings need to changed manually. The document found at this link should help you with this:
