Printing to Lexmark attached to PC on network

Can anyone help me I am trying to print to a Lexmark Laser printer (C522). My Imac G5 is connected to an ethernet network, the server runs windows NT. The printer I want to use is connected to my PC running XP, by USB, which is on the same ethernet network. Of course the other PC's on the network can see the printer and can print it, but I can't get the imac to see it. I have tried various methods of printer set-up in the print set-up utility, and the disk that came with the printer, but no luck. I can use the internet on the network and can also connect to the server for files. Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Many thanks for the suggestion, It was a good tutorial. The only problem is when I try to print the printer says Unable to connect to SAMBA host will retry, and comes up with NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY.
Any thoughts anyone?

If your printer is on this list follow the manufacturers instructions.

If is not see if there is an app from the manufacturer or:

  • How to print from different wireless connection on same network

I can print wirelessly when I am in range of the wifi to which my computer and attached printer connect. However, when I go to a different wifi connection within the same network, I cannot print. How can I my wifi connections on same network talk to each other so that I can print from second wifi site on same network?

The problem is you loaded the printer directly and now do not have it plugged in.. so delete the printer in the control panel.. then setup the printer again.. this time connect to it as network printer. The bonjour should make it available as a network resource..
Tell me if you still run into trouble doing that. You may need to load the IP of the TC manually..
Window7 has higher security level than xp.. and that can sometimes also cause issues.
Are you using SMB compliant names for the TC, wireless and printer??
Can the windows 7 computer get internet via the TC? Can you ping it?
Look up how to reduce the security level in windows to match xp.. I don't remember the details but you have to do some nifty footwork.

  • Why do all of my printers uninstall when I try to print a pdf attachment?

Not every time, but often.  What happens is that I try to print a pdf attachment and it says I need to install a printer before I can print.  I have 4 network printers, 1 attached, and 3 kinds of pdf creator printers that all disappear from my printer folder.  This has been happening for the past year and recently more often.  If I restart the computer, the printers all reappear, but if I try to print the same attachment the same thing happens.  If I try to download the pdf and then print it to a pdf creator that does not work.  If I download the pdf, change the name of it, then attach it to another email and send it to myself, it does not work.  If I forward the email to a different email address and try to open it on my computer it does not work.  If I open the email on a different computer, this does not happen.  I have tried different pdf readers and browsers with no luck.  It seems to be specific pdfs, but there can be two attachments to an email created by the same person using the same program and one will print and the other uninstalls all my printers.  This happens no matter what adobe version I am using.  I am at my wits end trying to figure out what is causing this problem.

  • Print to windows attached printer

    Hi!
I am facing a "small" problem here in my home lan. I have to computers connected. One is running Windows XP and has attached an Epson Stylous C60 printer. The other is running redhat 9 (2.4.8-20smp)
I have managed to make thw two boxes "talk" via samba.
    $ rpm -q samba
    samba-2.2.7a-7.9.0
I can read/write from one box to another without problem. The windows can see the linux through the lan and the linux can see the windous after mounting the share. But the thing I cannot do is print from linux to the windows attached printer.
First of all I checked if the printer is supported redhat and I found out that it is.
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_p...pson-Stylus_C60
So this eliminates the obvious question: Can you print with this printer from linux in the first place?
I've read many things about how to print to windows, like
    http://www.idevelopment.info/data/U...tLinuxSMB.shtml
    http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/...mb-printer.html
as well as many stuff from google search But there is no way I can solve my problem. I follow the instructions but still I can't print
    I also tried cups
    $ rpm -q cups
    cups-1.1.17-13
But there too I faced the same proble.
Can someone help me out here because I need that printer. I attach my smb.conf file. Any other information I will be standing by to submit.

I am running Windows 7 on my laptop. I just created a new wifi network and my Photosmart C6280 is attached via cable to the router. Now my print doc from my laptop goes wirelessly to the print queue but does not print. How can I make it begin to print?

Here something in the router is the printer IP set so that the computer knows what IP to print to? I know on my network printer with a Netgear router I have to set two IP address for both printer so that when I install printer software it knows where to find the printer and set the right print driver to the right printer. Did you do that? I could be that it can't find the printer on the network so that is why it gets stuck in the queue. You have to make a Static IP printer address so the print software knows where to send the print command to.

How do I print coupons from my device?First, make sure your device is connected to the same wireless network as your printer(s). Then, select a printer from the "Printers" menu in the More tab.
In the Coupons tab, "clip" coupons from the Coupons gallery. After you've finished clipping, select "View Cart" at the bottom of the screen and then "Print Coupons." Please note that at this time, Grocery iQ can only print to HP printers.
You Can Only Print To HP Printers ONLY. That's why your printer can not be found wirelessly.....  you will have to send it to your email and then print from there!

  • Internet printing to Lexmark Pro205

    Hello,
I have just purchased a new Lexmark Pro 205 series printer and had a question about it that I cannot seem to find anywhere else online. I am trying to setup Internet Printing and cannot get it to work.
Let me explain my setup first:
Lexmark Pro 205 series printer setup and working in local wireless network
Apple Time Capsule router for wireless connectivity
Desktop PC running Windows Vista 64-bit connected with ethernet to Time Capsule and printing fine to printer on local network
Macbook running Mac OS X Snow Leopard connected wirelessly to Time Capsule and printing fine to printer on local network
What I am wanting to do is setup the printer on the Macbook so that I can print over the internet. I have tried setting it up on the Macbook with IPP and LPD protocols and neither will connect when trying a test print. I have also forwarded the IPP and LPD TCP ports specifically on the Time Capsule to the printer but still cannot connect when trying a test print.
I have also tried printer sharing on the PC by setting up the printer then sharing it from the PC. I then forwarded the ports again but to the PC this time instead of the printer. Again it does not connect when trying to print a test page.
If you have any ideas or, even better, a specific setup guide needed to print over the internet, please email it back to me so that I can finally get this accomplished.
Above was sent to Lexmark Support but wanted the take of anyone on here as well.
    Thanks All!

Well, to answer one part of your reply (which btw, thanks for replying), I use DynDNS with a hostname for fixed IP so I always know my way home so to speak
I do have Mobile Me and can obviously use Back to My Mac except only have the one Mac which I am taking with me for remote printing.
I know how to allow access to the printer through the Time Capsule and have tried forwarding both IPP and LPD ports to both the printer and the desktop PC which has printer sharing enabled.
Is there another port I should be enabling?

How do I add an Epson printer connected to an iMac on the network to the printer list on my MacBook Pro? I cannot get it to show up in the list for printers to add.

That only works if the printer is itself a network printer. You can't do it if it is directly connected to another computer on the network unless it is configured to be a Shared Printer on the other computer.

  • How to print from an Ipad2 3G without changing networks?

I bought my elderly parents an Ipad 3G for Christmas because they cannot get anything but dial-up service at their home for a computer.  We also bought an HP printer with AirPrint and e-Print.  However, in order to print to the printer, you must turn off the 3G network and enter a wireless network that the printer is on.  Well, going into setting and changing every time they want/need to print is simply to technical for them.  is there any way to print directly to the printer, wirelessly, using either the AirPrint or this e-Print that HP has?  Has anyone written a 3rd party app that will do this?  Why doesn't Apple fix this issue since people are paying very expensive prices plus monthly fees to have the 3G versions so they can gain internet access.  IMHO, without the ability to print to a printer while on the 3G and connected to the internet, the thing is near useless.  Apple has really dropped the ball, here, and I think that this is very unlike Apple not to have thought of this.
Does anyone know of an app that when you need to print and push print, will automatically switch to the printer network, send the file to the printer, and then swithch back.  I think this is a poor way to do this, but at least it is a way to do it that won't require my parents to get all upset trying to go into settings and fool with turning networks on and off.
    Thanks,
    JJ the mustang man

    JJ-
I do not have the 3G model.  Is this a real problem, or just one you are worried will happen?  I was under the impression that the 3G iPad would change its Internet connection between WiFi and 3G as needed, but would continue to print via WiFi regardless of how it accessed the Internet.

  • Can't print to my HP D2460 over the network anymore, after upgrade to SL.

    Hi,
I upgraded to Snow Leopard today. Now I can't print to my HP D2460 Deskjet printer anymore. The printer is shared from my Windows XP system via SMB. When I try to print I see the following message in the print queue on the Windows XP system: "Remote Downlevel Document - Error printing".
I have updated the print drivers at both ends and still can't get it to work.
If I connect the printer to a USB port on my MacBook Pro, it prints fine. It's only the network/SMB printing that seems to be broken.
Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix it?
    Cheers.

  • I am trying to restrict color printing on my laserjet 4700dn for my network

Here is my issue.  I am trying to restrict color printing on my Laserjet 4700dn for my network.  I have configured it for "color if Allowed" and all works perfectly.  I was then going to allow certain users to print in color so I started by configuring my username and allow color.  Every time I print it is still in black and white.  I then decided to look at the color usage log and what I found would explain why.  The color usage log only shows the username of one user on my network.  All other jobs just show the date and number of pages.  So my issue is why can my printer not see all the other users and how do I configure it to do so.  Also why would only that one user show in the log.  It also does not show any applications but it does for that one user.  Is there something else that needs to be installed on the computers for it work?
