Printing to Officejet 6313 over network freezes

I have an OfficeJet 6313 hardwired to a network.
Using a Mac with OS 10.5 I can't print although I can scan. When I print any document from any program it goes to the print queue but seems to get stuck at a random percentage of completion. So for example the print queue will display "printing page 1  72% complete" or "printing page 1  43% complete" but there is no reaction from the printer.
Also the printer printed fine over USB from the Mac so I am thinking a network issue?
This question was solved.

Well nevermind because I sorted it eventually. The printer was randomly installed as another series which would explain why it couldn't print.

  • Unable To Communicate With Printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network)

I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600. One morning a couple weeks ago I tried to print something and I received a prompt saying "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)". I turned off the printer and turned it back on which did not help, I then turned off my wireless network, turned it back on and still nothing. I finally figured out that I first have to turn off the printer, then turn off my wireless router wait thirty seconds, turn the router back on and the turn the printer back on. After these steps my printer was working. The next morning the same thing happened "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)" and I've been replaying Groundhog's Day ever since.
    Please help!

    Hello msheehy-
I would like to help you with this issue. It sounds like the router is changing the ip address of the printer. This could be caused by a couple reasons. (ip lease time, power loss to the router) I would recommend looking at the following link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03781399&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4323648&tmp...
I think if you would set a static ip address in the printer EWS you would better off. I hope this helps.

  • HP210a print jobs fail over wireless, but can still print Test Diagnostic page over network

Help!  I cannot print over the wireless network anymore.  When I try, the print job queues up and I get "Error - Printer" message.  I can print the Test Diagnostic page just fine over the network.  I can also print fine when connecting via USB port.  I have the latest firmware.  Any ideas?

    Hi HP_210a_user,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 210a printer and not printing over wireless. HP Print and Scan Doctor.
The HP Print and Scan Doctor will help resolve this issue. I would also restart the printer. Unplug wait 1 min plug back in.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printer sharing through Classic over network

    Hello,
Have a G4 desktop running 10.3.9 and an iMac running 10.4.8. There is an Epson printer connected to the desktop via USB. These 2 computers are networked through a wireless router.
I would like to print from a Classic app on the iMac to the printer connected to the desktop. I have read the Mac Help articles on USB Printer sharing and desktop printing under OS 9, but am still having problems. (By the way, this Epson printer, Stylus CX7800 has no OS 9 drivers available.)
    Thanks,
    Marc

    Sounds like the identical problem!!
My shared printer is hosted by my "Panther G3 laptop (10.3.9)" via a USB to parallel converter cable.
I have no problem in printing an OS X document from my "Tiger G5 desktop" to the shared printer over my (Ethernet) network.
But when I try to print a Classic document from my "Tiger G5 desktop" over the network as per Mac Help, i.e. "Choose Apple menu > Chooser, and then select one of the following: To print to a Mac OS X printer, select LaserWriter 8," I just get an error message "LaserWriter is waiting for paper".
Then I am forced to copy my Classic document to the host computer and to print it from there. This is no longer "shared printing", it's just a pain in the neck.
Does any one have a suggestion? Do I need a printer driver on the iMac as well as on the host iBook?

  • Print spooler crashes whenever I try to print to Deskjet F4280 over the network.

    Greetings,
I have a nice and cheap F4280 connected to my computer via USB. My computer is running Windows XP SP3 (downgraded from Vista, had the same problem with Vista as well). I can print fine from my printer, but whenever I try to print from a laptop over the wireless network, the print spooler on my computer crashes and the F4280 doesn't do anything.
I downloaded a Microsoft tool to restart the print spooler, but when I resend the document to the printer over the netword, the spooler drashes again.
I've downloaded all the latest drivers, and attempted to run the critical patch, but an error message said I was already up to date and didn't need to install it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Resolution/Fix:
You first need to clear out your print queue to prevent the print spooler from crashing again.
On the computer designated as the server do the following:
Stop the printer spool service by right clicking on your My Computer icon and selecting "Manage"
Expand "Services and Applications" and the click on services
Browse through the list of services and find "Printer Spooler".
Right click on the "Print Spooler" service and select "Stop" if Stop is grayed out or disabled and "Start" is an available option, then the service is already stopped.
    Go to the c:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers folder
You should see some files in this directory with a .SHD file extension or a .SPL extension you will want to delete these. In some cases you may see other files in this directory as well, and in general it is safe to delete them. Files besides the .SHD and .SPL should be backed up before you delete them to be safe.
You may either reboot the computer or Start the "Print Spooler" service manually.
Once your print spool is clear you can now proceed with the following on the server computer:
Click on Start then control panel, and then Printer and Faxes
Right click on the HP Deskjet F4280 printer and select Properties
    Click on the Advanced tab
    Uncheck "Enable advanced printing features"
    Click the OK button
You should now be able to print fine from any computer on the network

  • HT4356 I have two printers on my network.  Does anyone know how to change the printer nomenclature - Officejet Pro 8600  (0B54AF) to a recognizable name...like Brad's Office?

I have two printers on my network.  Does anyone know how to change the printer nomenclature - Officejet Pro 8600  (0B54AF) to a recognizable name...like Brad's Office when you use Airprint?

You would have to change that in the printer's settings on the printer, if that option is offered by the manufacturer. The iPhone just finds printers on the network and uses the name they have given themselves or that were given to them when they were set up.

  • Cannot print PDF files on shared Laserjet Pro P1102w over network.

Having an issue with a P1102w not printing PDF files when sent to it over the network. Printer is shared on a networked PC via USB (wireless enabled but not used) and listed in the Active Directory so anyone can find it and print, However, if any computer other than the host tries to send a PDF document then the printer ejects a blank page and the warning light flashes, Word documents, Powerpoint presentations print fine just not PDFs? Tried changing the print processor, printing directly, resinstalling drivers but still no luck.
Network is a small server with 2008 standard 32bit connected to a HP 24 port procurve switch. Anyone come across this problem before?

    Hi,
    Are you using Adobe Reader?
From the Print dialog, click the Advanced Button.
Check the Print as image option, confirm the changes and try printing.
    Can you see any change?

  • How can I get my wireless printer to join my wifi network?

Since HP Setup Assistant doesn't work with Mavericks, is there another way to get my wireless printer connected to my new wifi network? This printer (HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809) worked just fine with Mavericks on my old wifi network. But my DSL provider recently installed a new router, so I have a new wifi network, which  works just fine with everything else.
I was able to get my two Airport Expresses to join my new network, using Airport Utility, but I'm stumped as to how to get my printer to join the new network without the aid of HP Setup Assistant.
Following the advice of Shlomi, I managed to reset my printer so that it now appears in my list of wifi networks under Devices, as hpsetup. But that's as far as I got. Any help would be most approeciated.

Bruce777 solved this for me, thank you Bruce! My printer now works perfectly on my new wifi network!
Bruce's  instructions, for anyone else having the same issue:
    - delete any previously set up printers
    - scrub old hp software and update software to get the hp 2.8 drivers
    - remove the usb cable from the printer if you have one connected
    - reset the printer network to hpsetup (hold down the power button and press network button 2x and then cancel 3x, release power button.)
    - print out the wireless network test report (hold down the network button and press the update button 2x). verify the network name / ssid is hsetup
    - got to sys prefs > network and change the mac wireless network to hpsetup
    - go to the sys pref > print scan
    - add the HP 8000 printer
    - click on the options and supplies button and click on the Show Printer Webpage
    - click on the networking tab > wireless in the left pane > start network wizard and change the network from hpsetup to your network
    - finish (this page may freeze up.  close the browser)
    - go back to the sys prefs and change the wireless network back to your networt
    - go to the printer and print out the wireless network test report (press network button and update button 2x).  Check that the SSID is your network
    - go to sys prefs > print scan > select your printer > options & supplies > show printer webpage > network info (check ssid and compare to wireless network test report)
    - try printing something to your printer.  It might take a little time the first print.

  • Now really can't print from Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

This is my second attempt to get help.  The first help made it worse.  I had been unable to print from my wireless printer from my MacBook Pro, iPad, or iPhone.  After about 20 hours I got it to print from a cable (it sees my network but none of my devices can see it).  So I posted here asking for help and was told to uninstall the software, repair disc permissions, and reinstall the software.  But when I downloaded the new software my computer would not install it because it says it is for Mac System 10.7 or less and I have 10.10.  So now I can't print anything at all.  I need this for work.  Please help me fix it for real.  I can't take this any more.

Thanks for providing that information JeanneS1. I have provided some more information that should help us resolve this issue. I know you have already spent a lot of time on this, but I am willing to continue trying to get this working properly over the wireless network.
Power cycle the router, restart the Mac and the printer.
I would print off a Configuration Page to see if the printer still has a valid IP address.
Try to access the printer's Embedded Web Server. If it connects then the printer is still on the network.
If you don't have a valid IP address, once more run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer.
Setup a Static IP address for the printer, this way the router will always assign the same IP address to the printer. Which should stop the disconnection.
Here is a document on this issue. But for now just follow Solution two: Assign the printer an automatic static IP address under Mac. Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and delete the old driver, click the + sign to add the driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.  (Officejet Pro 8600 Plus)
    Here is a screen shot.
    Then test the printer.
You might need to update the printer's firmware if you haven't already.
How far is the printer from the router?
Here a few causes of why the printer can lose the wireless connection:
The recommended distance between the printer and the router is 1.0 meter to 1.5 meters (3 ft to 5 ft).
A nearby device that emits radio signals (such as a microwave or cordless telephone) might interfere with the wireless connection.
A virtual private network (VPN) prevents the printer from accessing the computer and wireless network.
The network connection is no longer active, or has low signal strength.
The printer goes into sleep mode or standby mode.
A firewall prevents the printer from accessing the computer and wireless network.
What kind of router are you using?
What kind of security are you using? (WPA2/WPA, WPA Personal, WEP)
What band is the router set to? (2ghz or 5ghz)
I believe by changing these settings on the router will help with this issue if it continues. You might need to contact the router company to make those changes.
Make sure that on your wireless modem, the channels for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz are fixed and are not set to automatic !!
Select channel 6 for 2.4Ghz and channel 36 for 5Ghz frequency.
Hope this helps get you up and running again.

My iPad does not recognize my printer (HP officejet 5510 All-in-One). What can I do?

The Photosmart 5510 is AirPrint capable.  You can find that information linked below.  There may be something in the network that is preventing communication.  To use AirPrint your router needs to support Bonjour services.  Run the download below.  It will let you test Bonjour services from your Windows PC.  If this app can't see the printer either, then the router's Bonjour services are off, or it does not support Bonjour.  Let me know what the app finds.  If it can't find the printer, let me know what brand and model router you have, and I'll see if it has Bonjour services at all.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 (Network)' is offline every morning

I am running Windows 8. I use IE 11 and Chrome on occasion. Every morning I have trouble "waking up" my printer. I get "HP Officejet Pro 8610 (Network)' is offline". Sometimes turning the printer on and off resets it but today nothing seems to work. I even updated drivers. The rest of my network (excluding printer usage) is working fine. I have not been on a public network so that is not an issue nor has anyone else in our household.  I need to correct this every morning problem. Really, any time the printer goes to sleep I have this issue. I'm unsure if I can stop it from going to sleep or not since I can't even see it from any of our computers. Someone please help. I've been dealing with this about a month. I had previously purchased an Epson printer similar and it now sits in a box in my office because of similiar annoying issues. I previously had HP all-in-ones for about 15 years with no problems. This one is starting to make me wonder about the declining quality of HP printers. Please help as soon as possible. My son has a paper due Tuesday and can't print it. Thanks

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your Officejet 8610 is offline every morning and it seems like this printer has trouble waking up. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this entire HP document on What is Sleep Mode? You can try updating the firmware, which should help, since your printer is losing wireless connection when it goes to sleep: 1) Press the right arrow on your printer2) Press Setup (Wrench)3) Press Web Services4) Press Printer update and check for update now Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. I just want to see if this makes a difference. Another option you have is setting up schedule on and off. This will help with the sleep mode, as you will determine what time you would like this printer to turn and off. Note-If you decided to go down this route, if you receive faxes all the time, schedule on/off might not be a good idea. If you set a time frame when this printer is supposed to turn off, then you will not receive a fax. Also, if ePrint is enabled, this feature will not work. 1) Press the setup menu (Wrench)2) Press power management3) Press Schedule On Yes and set the time frame4) Press Schedule Off Yes and set the time frame I just want to make sure that your printer isn't going offline because of your router, not by the sleep mode. Just in case, I will provide an HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. This will allow you to set a static IP address. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 Network Name

    Dear HP Folks,
We have several printers in a small business network.   I would like to give each printer a unique name without having to set it up on each individual computer.
I've logged into the printer and in the advanced network tab,  set the Bonjour Service Name, but the printer still shows up with the generic name.   What am I missing?
    Please help!
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @melaniewest
Instead of selecting and changing the Bonjour Service name, change the Host name. I am certain you can do this in the Embedded Web Server, but you can also make this change right on the front panel of the printer if that is easier.
On the printer screen, scroll over to and select Setup, then select Network Setup, then Wireless Settings. Scroll down to Advanced Settings, the to Host name, and touch Change.
Please let me know if this resolves your inquiry. Thanks.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Network connection error message in EWS

I just got an Officejet Pro 8600 Premium.  The printer is connected to the network via a network cable.  When navigating through the EWS, sometimes the message "Network connection error.  Check network and try again." message is shown (the message could appear in various pages, such as Settings, Tools, etc.).  Refreshing the page should get rid of the message.
At first, I suspected if it was a problem with the network. So I pinged the printer's ip address continuously.  It did not miss a single beat.  The printer prints and scans well via the network.  So I think the error may be caused by something inside of the print, such as bug of EWS software, or internal error.
Anyone see the same message during the use?  Any suggestion?  Does it indicate there is hardware problem with the printer?  Thanks.

HP Support has escalated the case.  I referred this thread in the support request.  Hopefully, they can have a look at the issue.
For me, the only setting does not stick is "Use the same time zone set on this computer" in Settings\Date & Time.  I've created another ticket for this issue.  8500A has the same problem.
You can try to restart the EWS.  Unplug the power cord while the printer is on.  Then wait 15 sec and reconnect the power cord.  Press the power button if the printer does not turn on by itself.
If you would like to reset to the printer and reconfigure from scratch, you can check here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/How-to-reset-Officejet-Pro-8600-Plus-P...
