Printing to Panasonic Workio DP-C213 digital imaging system

Relatively new to Mac OS here trying to get color printing from this Panasonic multifunction unit running on a Windows network.
I managed to get black and white printing to work fine using the generic PCL 5 gutenprint driver however in the print settings, I only have two greyscale options and so far haven't been able to make it print color.
Panasonic provides a OSX Postscript driver for this (which indicates it is for up to osx 10.5 as per http://panasonic.net/pcc/support/mfp/dp-c354/ps/download.html). I have installed as per the instructions but on printing I get one page with %!PS-Adobe-3.0 / %APLDSCEncoding: UTF8 / %APLProducer: (Version 10.6.4 (Build 10F569 (where the /s are line breaks.
This would seem to indicate an issue with Postscript however I understand the printer is Postscript so not sure why it's having this issue.
Any suggestions for what to try next - our printer dealer doesn't seem to know how to support Mac systems? If more info is needed, let me know and I'll try to provide.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Welcome to the Apple Discussion boards.
The product brochure for the DP-C213 shows that PostScript is an optional add on. Are you sure that you have the PostScript module installed? Without the optional PostScript module, you will only get the raw PostScript code when you use the PostScript driver.
The Gutenprint generic PCL drivers do not print color. They are grayscale only.
The product brochure for the DP-C213 does show that it comes standard with the PCL 6 printer module. The best color driver would be the pxlmono/pxlcolor driver. You can download all you need from http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o. You will need to install three packages. The pxlmono, Foomatic-RIP, and the Ghostscript package.
Now for the confusing part. When you go to set up the printer use the *"Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer Foomatic/pxlcolor (recommended)"* driver. That will give you color printing. The OpenPrinting database is in error and only shows your printer to be a grayscale printer, so you *do not* want to choose the "Panasonic DP-C213 Foomatic/pxlmono (recommended)" driver. That driver will only produce grayscale printing.
EDIT: The URL for the product brochure is ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/business/office/brochures/DP-C213_Brochure .pdf

  • Digital Imaging Monitor fails to open

Using officejet 1315 all-in-one with newer PC and just upgraded to Windows 7 drivers. Performed complete install with current program from the HP site. I can print and scan from the printer dialog box.
However the digital imaging monitor does not start. It appears in the task bar but when I click on  launch/show monitor, I get a Window default beep and nothing further happens. I've tried as administrator and ensured permissions are set. Any idea what is preventing the imaging monitor from launching?
    Thanks.

    Hello Ross-WM,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand the HP digital imaging monitor does not start, you are still able to print and scan with your PSC 1315.
Did you ever have another HP printer installed on this computer, do you get any error messages on the computer regarding the HP digital imaging monitor?
I would like you to start here and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
I will watch for your reply.

    Hi,
Digital imaging monitor is a part of the HP software that communicates with your HP printer. This program enables you to read the inklevels, get an out of paper message, scan from the unit to the comuter and so on. Its not neccesary, but it will limit the printers use if you remove it.

  • Digital Imaging missing files

I cannot use scan functions on my Windows 7(64) PC .  I have used the Print and Scan Doctor and have downloaded, installed and unistalled many times the newest drivers.  The uninstall/install hangs up because a file (or more) is corrupted or missing.  The last message referred to C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpotradd.dll.  I think I need to install Digital Imaging to replace or repair the missing files and simply trying to install the newest drivers doesn't work.  Is there an ability to download and install just Digital Imaging?  I have the printer installed on a local network and the printer functions work fine on my Windows 7 (64) laptop.

    Hi @Literal1
I would like to help you with your Digital imaging. The best think to do is perform a complete comprehensive uninstall and reinstall of the full feature software and driver.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%

Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    Open folder Util
    Open folder CCC
If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have anon-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.

  • HP Digital Imaging Monitor Continually Pops Up

It's getting real annoying. The HP Digital Imaging Monitor continually pops up when the wireless c4385 printer is turned on saying "...is connected....is disconnected...is connected...." I've tried changing the power saving settings in Windows/System for the Root USB hub, didn't help. Tried shutting down the HP services in services, no help. Finally I just turned off the printer and then next time my mouse went over the tray icon it finally turned off and disappeared. What's going on here?

I have a similiar problem running ... Vista Home premium ..... I find when it appears that it is my startup menu  .... remove from the startup menu.....In my case it wants to install the fax software for my all in on L7500 ..... Removing it from the start will only work if you go and install the fax  software and leave the fax printer in your selections .... if you remove the sucker from your installrd printers because you do not want it or need it ... the message reappears ... in my case install the unwanted fax software then remove from startup quick start menu. Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Flash security exposure in HP Solution Center Digital Imaging code

I have an HP Officejet 4500 with the HP Solution Center installed.
    Windows XP.
My security software identifies "Adobe Flash Player Multiple Vulnerabilities" embedded in the HP Digital Imaging product.
    The versions and locations are:
    Adobe Flash 10.0 r2
    C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\{7E0E61CC-1C99-429D-BEA7-C4DD5B898D2A}\setup\hwsetupwizard\setup_guide.exe
    Adobe Flash 9.0 r115
    C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Help\player\FlashPla.exe
Apparently the Digital Imaging products uses these for help and setup functions. They were likely installed initially but I can't find any way to update them. I have tried all update functions available for the Solution Center.
Adobe Flash player is at version 11 as the standalone product on my machine, so this is not the issue.
    The vulnerabilities are real
    http://www.securelist.com/en/advisories/43267/?function=advisories&VN=43267
    http://www.securelist.com/en/advisories/41917/?function=advisories&VN=41917
How do I get these Flash product versions updated? I am assuming if I delete the files the help and setup functions won't work.
    Thanks

Alright, well.Ltaff, first of all, to let you know Solution Center does not need a different version of Adobe Flash Player. AFP is merely a conduit that puts together the coding for Solution Center so that it can function, and if AFP is not up to date then it can cause problems.
If you have the most recent version, then those security issues have already been resolved through subsequent releases. Now, what it sounds like is that your security software is falsely detecting issues in the program or AFP was not correctly configured.
As a starting step, why don't we uninstall both the printer and Flash Player and reinstall them.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer. You will need to search for the correct model number of the 4500 you have (either G510a/g/n or G509a/g/n):
    www.hp.com/go/support
Then uninstall AFP from Programs and Features and install it from the download :
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?fpchrome
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • Photosmart "Parsing error in file c:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqsclock\1033.xml"

I receive the error message: Photosmart "Parsing error in file c:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqsclock\1033.xml"
when I try to open the HP Solution Centre.  I am using Vista.
    Can anyone help please?

    Thanks.
I will give this a go.
Once I have uninstalled the software presumably, I don't use the cd that came with my printer (I have uninstalled and reinstalled using the original CD before) , but can download the software and new drivers direct from the HP site.
I did try and download updates from there and it said new software for solution centre but when I clicked
on the downloads they didn't appear to have anything to do with the solution centre.
Once again thanks for your help

  • Looking for equivilent of Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10

Sorry if this is in the wrong topic, didn't know where to post....
I am a new Mac user and am loving my MacBook, but iPhoto isn't quite doing enough for me when it comes to working with and editing pictures. I've used Microsoft Digital Image Pro on my PC for the last few years, and REALLY like it, although of course they don't make it for macs. Any ideas on a program that would be the equivilent for macs? I don't want something as comlicated as Photoshop, but a little more than iPhoto. Thanks!

Here's a tip for controlling iPhoto's red-eye tool. It also works with the Retouch tool:
    * Type Caps lock + Control + 9
    * Undo caps lock
    * Click on Retouch or the Red-Eye Removal tool.
    * The tab key will toggle between cursor types, a cross or a circle for Red-Eye removal tool and between darken and lighten in the Retouch tool.
    * The "[" and "]" keys decrease or increase the size accordingly.
    * To get a lighter pupil with the red-eye tool, Shift-Click inside the circular curser.
NOTE: Using the "{" "}" keys will will change the value next to the circle and that represents the degree of change or intensity that the Retouch tool imparts on each pass.
Thanks to Old Toad for the above information.
I have found that in some situations where Elements absolutely refuses to correct the red-eye properly, I can get a better adjustment using iPhoto. But without the use of this secret mode, it is pretty much useless.
As far as iPhoto's capabilities, it is a really powerful image organizer with a few editing features for added convenience. What makes it better than other organizers is that it is not a file browser, it is a database application. Once you give the database some information, you can use that info to search and group your photos in almost infinite ways very quickly and easily. You can print your own cards, too. If you've had trouble with the 7 X 10 size you may benefit from Old Toad's tutorial. See his posts in this thread for an explanation and link: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4605228
I agree with you that Elements can be complicated and overwhelming. It has so many features that it can be challenging trying to figure out which ones you need to correct your photo. When editing a group of photos I try to keep it simple: adjust the levels, lighten shadows (a must for many indoor shots), fix red-eye, crop. Plus, I do love the healing brush (band-aid tool) for removing the odd spec of anything that doesn't belong. My Elements experience was greatly improved after I bought and read a good book. You can get one that will tell you which features really work, which ones are more of a gimmick, and how to do the things you need to do most. If you can get through the learning curve, then the tools I listed really are quick and simple to use.
    Good luck.

  • Best way to store digital images?

I have all of my digital images for personal and business loaded in my home pc (Windows XP, sorted in a Kodak Easyshare program). Recently purchased a laptop. All of my information from the PC was transferred/copied onto the laptop. However, I want to store the images on something separate from the laptop. Approximately 10GB worth of images.
What is the best way to store them for easy access to view and copy/print or for uploading to a site to print out pix for photo albums, etc.
    Thanks!

The best way to store your images is to get a high-capacity flash memory device, preferably an SDHC card because they have a lock switch that prevents writing when the card doesn't need to be written to, and use that to archive your files. Simply keep it inside a memory card case in a safe place, such as a personal lock-box, and you're good to go. You can take that card to any photo kiosk or someone's home to do whatever you want to with the files.
Good point, I'm so ingrained against that particular solution due to the sheer amount of images I have (I can easily fill up an 8GB SDHC in 1-2 days when airshow season rolls around, plus I have an HD camcorder that takes about 8GB/hour), but since the OP only has 10GB total, making copies to 2-3 16GB SDHC cards and storing them in safe places would be an excellent approach.  Choose one location (maybe the desktop or the laptop's hard drive) as a "master" and periodically back up to all the SDHCs.
Just make sure to choose a "master" storage location or you'll go insane trying to keep things synchronized.
Online storage solutions such as Dropbox and similar services might also be an option for only 10GB of data.

  • Looking for best way to convert 35 mm slides to digital images

    Hello Apple Community,
Am researching best ways to convert several hundred 35 mm slides into digital images.  There are numerous scanners/converters out there but want to ensure I get the best unit compatable with my iMac (27 inch, Late 2009).  Any suggestions welcome.

For scanning 35mm slides you need a scanner with a good photometric resolution and geometric resolution.
For the photometric resolution: Get a scanner with a high density range (D-max) value, to get a good resolution of highlights and shadows.
For the geometric resolution - sharpness and detail - try to get at least 3200 dp,i to be able to get good 8"x10" prints from your scanned slides, a higher dpi value, if you want to be able to print larger images.

  • HP Digital Imaging Monitor gone

My HP Digital Imaging Monitor is gone.
I tried reinstalling the printer using the CD but it didnt install the HPDigital Imaging Monitor.  How do I reinstall it?

Problem solved. Clicking on the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon on the task bar previously launched HP Digital Imaging Monitor, which I expected; but it didn't see the 6500. However, clicking the same icon now launches HP Solution Center without overtly updating or loading anything else. HP Solution Center does see  the 6500, and I can scan and save in PDF as before. I suspect  HP Solution Center was being launched in the past vice HP Digital Imaging Monitor. Before posting the original post, I rebooted my PC several times, checked for Windows and HP updates (there were none), disconnected power from the 6500, and searched specifically for Win 10 version of HP Digital Imaging Monitor all to no avail.
