Printing to PDF - Format A1 with ArchiCAD

I cannot seem to print to PDF larger than A3. I have added a custom paper size (A1) and also tried installing the drivers for an HP Plotter.
But regardless each time I try to save my layout from ArchiCAD 10 I can only save as A3 pdf.
Any help would be great...
MdW

Ok, I think I found what needs to be changed, but I cannot set it "permanently" - that's what I need to figure out now.
When it comes up with the print dialog, I choose Adobe Acrobat as my printer, and then in the print dialog, there is a properties button.  That opens a window and one of the options is labeled "Adobe PDF Page Size" - this seems to default to be blank.   If I set that to "Letter" everything works as I want.
So the question is, how do I make "Adobe PDF Page Size" default to "Letter" under the Adobe Acrobat properties?

we are not able to print in pdf format with using a template, if we use default layout we are getting a pdf output,
Can any one please help me on this issue....
    Thanks
    Malleswar

    Hello Malleswar,
we are not able to print in pdf format with using a template, if we use default layout we are getting a pdf output,If your scenario with APEX Listener is generally capable of producing a PDF when using a working template, than the error is very likely to be in your template, not in APEX Listener.
If that's the case, you'll probably find more people with experiences on how to build custom xsl-templates into your APEX application in the APEX forum: {forum:id=137}.
If you decide to post there (or even if you think it's better to continue here), please provide information on your APEX and APEX Listener version and whether you see some error information in APEX Listeners log when trying your own template or not. If you don't see anything there right now, enabling debug mode will make the log more verbose and probably provide a hint on which part of your template can't be processed properly by the FOP built into APEX Listener.

  • How can I programatically control the names of files output from Labview into .pdf format (ie with Adobe PDF Writer or Distiller)?

I would like to save some data forms for a standard test controlled with labview in a pdf format. Due to the large number of forms and test reports, I would like to have Labview automatically assign the .pdf file name based on test number already contained in the labview code. How can I do this.
Note: This question is very similar to:
"Labview and Adobe Acrobat output" posted by John Balone on 1/26/2000. The reponses offered good suggestions but it is not clear to me how to implement them.

This information is essential if you plan to use the Acrobat Distiller printer driver and any of the examples listed here:

  • Purchase Order print in PDF format directly to vendor

    Hi Experts,
I have two requirements regarding PO print out to vendor. I am using release strategy for Purchase Order.
    1. When the Purchase Order is fully approved, a mail should go to corrosponding vendor with PO print out in PDF format as an attachment.
    2. When PO is cancelled (all PO lines are deleted) then mail should go to vendor that PO has been cancelled.
Please let me know the steps / procedure for these requirements.
    regards,
    Anand.

    Anand,
    Hi again!!
Are you planning to send an email to the vendor?
This is possible in many ways..
    1. you could send a normal out put via EDI and the vendor can convert the xml file to PDF at his end
    2. You could send it as a FAx and the vendor can still receive it as a PDF
    3. You can email the vendor in a PDF format
I am sure you understand how an email is sent to the vendor.. You'd have to work with samrtforms to convert the O/p to PDF or convert the spool to PDF.

  • Smartform Printing in PDF format

    Hi all,
I am looking to print standard SmartForms in PDF output.
I have printed a standard SmartForm to the spool.  I convert the spool job to PDF using function module CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF.   From this I get a new spool request titled "#####(original spool no) converted to PDF format".
My Basis team has create a new printer with device type PDF1 which I have used during this function module.
However this PDF spool shows up as odd characters.  It also does not print as expected, again it prints the odd characters.
Obviously I'm missing something - does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks-

Within SP01, viewing the spool request, I see the following characters:
    ═䑆ⴱ⸳ഊ◢팍ਲ‰扪
    祰攠⽔祰攱ഊ>
    〰‱〰〠㄰〰‵>
    ‱〰〠〠〠〠>

    ਯ䱡獴䍨慲′>
    㔳㠠㔳㠠㠵>    Etc....
EDIT: I note that when I submit this post, the characters change.  I'm seeing 'symbols' mainly, some Asian characters (the form should be in English).
When printing, it comes out with something like:
    %PDF-1.3
    %aDuE
    2 0 objtype /Type1
    /BaseFont /H00 1000 1000 520 1000 74 1000 0 0 0 0
    /CapHeight
         /LastChar 255
    %Charwid8 592 779 650 650.   etc
    /F002 6 0 R
    Date=(0000000)
    @SAP_OB    End TOA_DARA
    >>
    endob00327 00000 n
    and so on...
For now we would like to validate the PDF printing before modifying any new print programs to automate the process.
    Thanks-

  • Apps report print on PDF format

    Hi all,
I want to print my report from apps in PDF format, so can anyone tell me how to print report from apps in PDF format.
Is there any document ID in metalink or can anyone tell me the complete steps for taking report in PDF format.
    Thanks & Regards

In the earlier version of apps (before 11.5.10), we used to do it using bitmap reports. Now we can use XML Publisher, it is easier to design the layout in rtf rather than bitmap report (rdf).
Check Metalink Note: 278727.1 for more information.

  • Printing to PDF creates document with only part of the printout, improperly sized

I am printing from a windows application with my Adobe Acrobat Standard 10.1.9, and when it prints (to a standard Portrait size document), only about 25% of the document appears in the PDF, as if I had told it to zoom in on the document.
I want the PDF to comtain the complete document, fit to one portrait sized sheet of paper.  I want this to be the default behavior.
    Help!

  • Can't "print to PDF" from Word with Acrobat XI

I recently upgraded from Acrobat X to Acrobat XI and now I don't seem to be able to "Print to PDF" from within a Word document. It tries to generate the PDF then produces an error log which says:
"Adobe PDF Settings file read error in :C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\Standard.joboptions"
Is there a fix for this?

Just to be sure about the functionality of everything else. Try changing the job options in the printer (and/or) PDF Maker to the print or press options and see if the printing and PDF Maker operate correctly. If that is the case, you indeed know the problem is bad files. I am not sure if the ones that fail can be extracted seperatedly from the Acrobat distribution or not. I might check my Win7 installation of AAXI and see if I have any issues with the job options. I generally do not use the Std options, but one provided by IEEE for publications. I have found that works about as well as any and the results generally look nice. It generally embeds all fonts that is another option I want. The font issue is not optimum from my viewpoint with the Standard settings that does not embed all fonts.
You might try to see if you can open them in Distiller. If so you might want to save copies from within Distiller (just save with a new name). Then check your last step and see if they open when resaved or when used as the settings for the print.
I am just trying to dream up things you can try. The Distiller route might be a good test. If the copies work fine, but the originals do not, you could just rename the originals with ...orig or such and then change the name of the copies back to the original name. If you wanted to go one step further (I recommend it), change all of these new versions to be read only as the original should be.
I forgot to mention that to edit them in Distiller, go to the settings tab and select the job settings, then enter edit. The original files can not be saved without changing the name since they are read only. If you need more help on this, ask and I will go to my machine with AAXI.

  • Problems with Printing a PDF of DWG with details as raster refernces???...

So, I'm trying to print a detail sheet that has a few client details refenced as raster images among our own details. Made a PDF using Adobe PDF. Unfortunately, when printing the PDF of this sheet, somehow the raster details get scaled down and a huge black border appears around where the extents of the original image was in the PDF....
After doing some more digging I noticed that if I uncheck "print as image" in Adobe, the problem goes away. Unfortunately, the "print as image" option is generally very helpful for printing large drawings or drawing sets...
    Any idea how to fix???
    Thanks guys!

I looked at the specs, and it seems this printer has PostScript emulation.
The Australian stores I looked at showed that PS was an option with this model, with the Samsung proprietary language as standard.
These days, emulators are quite good,
I've never seen a machine running a PS emulator do a good job with a large file, especially when it is a multifunction as the CPU still has to be informed of the other functions while it is processing the spool file.
so I would be more likely to suspect that you would get more bang for the buck by adding memory to the printer. You could probably find that fairly inexpensively, if you go for third-party memory. Manufacturer-supplied memory for printers is usually outrageously expensive.
Agree with this. More memory would help if it hasn't got the maximum already and vendor supplied memory is always dearer than 3rd party.
Other ways to get around memory limitations are to print only a few pages at a time, and also to turn off collation.
Collation is an issue when performing multiple copies. But when the file is a multiple page single document then the Collate button has no impact.

  • Printing a PDF file online with any OJ 100 printer,we receive unknown error light sequence.

When printing a PDF file online on all of our Officejet 100 Mobile L411 USB printers, we encounter an undocumented error light sequence. The error light sequence we encounter is Power light blinks in conjuction with the Bluetooth light then those 2 lights blink off and the Resume light and both cartridge lights  blink on. then those three lights blink off and the power light and the Bluetooth light blink on again and so it goes. You cannot reset this error by any other means other than powering the printer down and the printer will not power down with the power button. The only way the printer will power down with the above flashing light sequence showing is to disconnect AC power and remove the battery.
With the above described flashing light sequence displayed, the printer has no problem continuing to print and will continue to print other documents with the flashing light seguence displayed.
If the above mentioned PDF file is saved off to the computer and then printed from there, it will print on this printer ok without starting the flashing light sequence described above so evidently there are control characters attached to the online PDF file that get stripped off when the document is saved. I don't know what those characters could be but I do know that only all of the Officejet 100 printers we have display this problem. We can print the same documents on our HP 470 mobile printers ok without any issues or have no problem printing the same document with other models of HP printers. It is only when printing this document with any HP Officejet 100 mobile L411 printer that we have this problem.
As mentioned above, the flashing light sequence described above is not a sequence described in the Operators Manual so we don't know what it means. Also it is apparent that the online document(s) we are printing have some control characters attached to them that are incompatible with this printer but we do not know what characters they are. Are there some settings that we can setup in the printers properties that would solve this issue for us?
As I have explained above, this particular flashing light seguence does not keep the printer from printing the online documents or any other documents succesfully, however this sequence cannot be reset by any other way other than killing all power to the printer.

  • CF 8 - pdf format changes with page count

when crating a cfdocument as pdf format when we create a
document approx. 500 pages or less everything is fine. when we go
over that number the font size and some formatting changes. we are
at a complete loss as to why this happening as we have checked and
rechecked every option possible. even going as far as scaling the
report down to only 1 or 2 lines. very bizarre. any thoughts on why
this is or a direction to troubleshoot this would be great. thanks
    -Ralph

I'm not sure if this helps, but we've noticed formatting changes when the PDF writer considers the items in the cfdocument page too big for the layout (fonts resizing, inconsistent styling, etc).  We shrunk our content down (especially images) to make sure everything fit on screen.  also, if you are using images, make sure you are placing images in the cfdocument at the same height/width as the actual image file.
Not sure how helpful that's going to be - sounds like your issue is more about raw file size than anything else, but thought I would mention it.

  • Is it possible to override the built-in PDF format handler with a custom IFilter for PDF?

    Hi,
SharePoint 2013 comes with a built-in "format handler" for PDF now, so it can index PDF files out of the box. This is great for most users, as it now no longer is necessary to install a third-party IFilter for crawling PDF documents.
My question is, is it possible to override the built-in format handler for PDF with a custom IFilter for PDF? I played with the Set-SPEnterpriseSearchFileFormatState and Remove-SPEnterpriseSearchFileFormat cmdlets. While it is possible to deactivate
the built-in format handler, I was not able to remove it and to create a new one that activates a custom IFilter for PDF files.
Background of the question: While the new built-in format handler for PDF will probably be sufficient for many SharePoint users, some need additional capabilities regarding indexing if PDF documents, e.g. extraction of custom metadata from PDF's document
information dictionary and embedded XMP metadata. PDFlib GmbH, the company I work form, sells an IFilter for PDF, and of course we would like to continue to offer this for SharePoint 2013.
    Thanks
    Stephan

You should be able to replace it with any ifilter you want, this is the procedure for installing it:
Install PDF iFilter 9.0 (64 bit) from
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4025 (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4025)
Download PDF icon picture from Adobe web site
    http://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html (http://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html)  and copy to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\IMAGES\
Add the following entry in docIcon.xml file, which can be found at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\XML
    <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="pdficon_small.png" />
Add pdf file type on the File Type page under Search Service Application
    Open regedit
    Navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\15.0\Search\Setup\ContentIndexCommon\Filters\Extension
Right-click > Click New > Key to create a new key for .pdf
Add the following GUID in the default value
    {E8978DA6-047F-4E3D-9C78-CDBE46041603}
•Restart the SharePoint Server Search 15
•Reboot the SharePoint servers in Farm
•Create a Test site (with any out-of-box site template) and create a document library upload any sample PDF document(s).
•Perform FULL Crawl to get search result.
Once the crawl is completed we will get search results.
