I have acrobat installed.  what can I do to print to pdf rather than printer.

What operating system and version of acrobat are you using?
Are you printing from within the pse 11 editor or organizer?
What kind of print i.e single, picture package, contact sheet or other?

  • Printing a pdf document created in Acrobat Pro 9.0

Solved the problem of printing a pdf document created using Acrobat Pro 9.0 with SL - tried many different things form adobe etc and by accident discovered while in Acrobat you have to select ADVANCED in Print then click onto SAVE AS IMAGE in next box and then OK and all prints as it should. Just thought others may want to know this if they have had problems 1

I'm reviewing your post and while I see a fix, I can't locate the problem that you may have originally posted. Since I'm having issues, I'm hoping your's were the same.
Sometimes when I print an Adobe Acrobat 9.0 document, most of the printed word fail to print out (although they are in the PDF document). Almost all graphical elements print and the occasional line of text--but most text is missing. Was ti your issue?

  • Getting and Printing A PDF Document From R/3 Using Web Dynpro

I would like specific information on getting and printing a document residing R/3 using web dynpro.  My environment is Netweaver 04s SR2, an it will not include ITS or the ABAP stack. It connects to remote R/3.  I will not be using Adobe Interactive Forms.       I only need get/render/print the doc.  My question is in 3 parts.
    1) Getting the PDF from R/3
         a) In terms of the RFC ABAP module, how should it return the pdf (a table?)
         b) How should the document be stored within the Component Controller context
             for display.
    2) Converting the R/3 returned binary into a form that is renderable within
Web Dynpro.  (Does the Form UI Element Require it to be converting and if so
what is the best way to do this)
    3) Printing the PDF from the corresponding iView in the portal. (If I am using the
form ui element to display it, how can printing be initiated in the portal)
    Thanks

    Hi,
In webdynpro there s a fecility to convert the general data to PDF by uisng th InterativeForm UI Element.
This for u need to do the following things.
    1. Need to configure the ADS(Adobe document services) in your VA(Visual Admin).
    2. Once ADS is configured we  can utilize the UI element Interactiveform It has contain the Adobedesigner by using this we can design the PDF and binding with the model nodes.
    3. Develop the Function module in the r/3 side and import into WD side and those are created as Model nodes and we canutilize in the 2 step.
4.When u run the application u can display the pdf with how u design ur PDF form.
This is generally doing the PDF by using PDF.
Or do u think any other way post ur issues.
    Thanks,
    Lohi.

  • Lay-out printing to .pdf

    Hello,
When we use the new print functionality in 2004s we have a problem with printing to pdf. The filter that we use for our report is shown in the header of the pdf. The filter contains a lot of elements and is shown on one line in a very small character. Our report is sized to this small character size and appears very small in our pdf-report.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks in advance,

How can I get the filter values on a separate page (the Last one) ?

  • Browser: Print to PDF does not retain hyperlinks

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone can give me some guidance.
I have several html pages that contain numerous hyperlinks throughout the page
On each page there is a javascript print button (ie. onclick="window.print();returnfalse..........)
Whenever a user chooses the option from the print dialog box to print the page to Adobe PDF,  the output (pdf) does not retain the hyperlinks.
Is there a way, feature, or product that will allow external users to print to pdf and still have the hyperlinks work?

Printing to PDF never includes interactive elements - it is what it says, a digital copy of a printed page. No links on a sheet of paper = no links on a PDF printout.
To retain interactive content you must save the page as a PDF, for example using the Acrobat plugin for IE or Firefox.

  • PDFMaker changes page orientation when printing to pdf

Hi all! I am praying for an answer. My job requires me to convert huge word documents to pdf using the pdfmaker add-in with acrobat Professional 8.1.3. My problem is as follows and has occured in two seperate documents. I have Microsoft word 2007 and run on a VIsta OS.
So my problem is when I create a pdf from word acrobat for some odd reason changes any page's orientation that contain excel spreadsheets that have been inserted (I believe through copy and paste and they are not linked to excel). Thus I get a page with a landscape spreadsheet with a profile orientation and it cuts off the information for my client. By the way, it does the complete opposite of whatever orientation I choose.
Here are some things I have tried: I tried saving document as a 97-2003 word file and create pdf from that version, I have changed the PDFmaker advanced settings for auto-rotate pages and tried all three options to no avail. I really need some help fast! I will love anyone who solves this problem for me.
    Thanks,
           Jason.

GREAT NEWS!!! I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!
Okay so after a lot of frustration and mountain dew I have figured this out, but first the problem is simpler then I listed it. So here is the actual problem:
I had a document with multiple sections and one section was oriented landscape while the rest were profile. When printing to PDF the resulting pdf file had all sections in profile and ignored any change in orientation and cut off/cropped out elements of the pages I had in landscape orientation.
    SOLUTION:
The solution to this problem is in two parts: 1) changing some print preview stuff in word, and 2) changing preferences in pdfmaker/acrobat ribbon. For this solution to actually work however you must have the landscaped sections sectioned off by inserting section breaks in word.
Step 1) Go to the section where you document orientation is changed from the rest of the document. Press the office button (in 2007) and drag down to print>print preview. You will notice that your section has now reverted to profile. (Ah Ha!) Change the page orientation to landscape.
"But wait, now my margins or elements are getting cut off" you say. Go to Page setup. Make sure that near the bottom it says "Apply to: This section"
Now make it landscape and this changes the margins to also be landscape.
Step 2) Click on your Acrobat tab and go to preferences. Under pdfmaker settings click advanced settings and as Bill and I have said change auto-rotate pages to individually.
    AND YOU ARE DONE!!!!!

  • Intermittent ioerror printing to PDF using Acrobat -- "readstring"

I posted this query before, but the term "Distiller" seems to have obscured my issue.
Far, far too often I get an error log like this, when trying to print to PDF from Photoshop Elements:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: readstring ]%%
    Stack:
    ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿýûðÖ²U/
    @kÉè÷ýþÿÿÿþþþþþþþÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿþþþþþÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿþÿþþÿþÿþÿÿþÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿþþþþþþþþÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿþþþþþþþÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ...)
    -file-
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
    TextText
I have simply tried Ctrl-P again to print to Adobe PDF, and maybe half the time it works, without any change in Photoshop image that I want converted to PDF. Sometimes, superstitiously, I reduce the res/file size and it goes through, but not always. The diagnostic tells me next to nothing, although I was a programmer for 20 years. There seems to be an Acrobat component named "Distiller," and "readstring" is failing for some reason that only one of the product programmers, or someone with similar knowledge, can understand, and the programmer does not tell me the user what to do about it.
What is the cause of the "ioerror"
The Acrobat product I am using is Acrobat 6.
I would know nothing about "opening a file in Distiller." The success and failures appear haphazard, but as a former professional programmer I know that there are deterministic reasons, even if nobody ever discovers them. Debugging programs is very hard work.
Perhaps someone can suggest a means of forwarding the error message to someone in Adobe programming, who already knows what the error message should mean to me, the user.

The details of the error are not familiar to me. However to explain where it comes from and a possible check on things I will try to explain the process.
There are basically 3 levels related to the Adobe PDF printer. The most fundamental is to print to file with the Adobe PDF printer. That process creates a PS file (may have a PRN extension). Then open the file in Distiller (part of the Acrobat sweet that converts PS and EPS files to PDF) and see if you get the same error, or it may possibly work.
The process you used to simply print to the printer depends on AcroTray running in the background. AcroTray automates the call to Distiller (that is the product showing the message you got). I am wondering in a way if the PS file somehow is getting corrupted - that is what corrupted files sort of look like in Distiller.
The last process available in several products is PDF Maker, basically a preprocessor for the Adobe PDF printer that adds PDF Marks to the file that are recognized by Distiller for adding links and such.
Don't know that this will help, but the first process may be worth trying just to see if it works, or if something else is in error. If you have a separate PS printer installed, you can also try printing to file with that and processing with Distiller. The problem at this point is to find what process is messing up.

  • From PSD to Illustrator to PRINT READY PDF getting blurry

    Hello Experts,
I got a problem about converting my illustrator file to print ready pdf's. Basically i did my design in Illustrator but some of the graphic elements in my design are in PSD format, i just imported it to illustrator using place command and even embedded it to the main illustrator file, I got not problem with the resolution 'coz i set it to 300dpi CYMK. But the problem occurs when i print it to PDF because those images from psd file i imported are getting blurry, no matter how i set the settings to its maximum i still got those result over and over again. If anyone got a solution to this problem it might a good help to anyone not only me who is experiencing this problem.
    Thanks,
    erick

Thanks Mylenium, i finally figured it out now how to tweak those blurry stuff. First i tried to set the bicubic downsampling to its maximum pixels per inch and secondly i set the  bicubic downsampling off, both settings just works fine. Thanks again. This is a great help.

  • Is it possible to retain 100% k when printing to PDF

I print to pdf with photoshop, illustrator and indesign. i do this to reduce file sizes, mostly to send a proof to a client. however, i also use the pdfs in indesign when preparing large documents that first go to a printer then to go online. depending on the technology the printer is using, i can get away with 'print to pdf' pdfs and their press does not print the black in four color process, but other printers with older technology requests all blacks to be 100% k. It's not a big deal, as i can 'export' to 'smallest file size' with similar outcomes of size for posting online, i was just curious....

Thank you Mike, I do not work at a printer so am unfamilar with their programs and technology.
per your notes above: i do export to pdf, i do output Color Conversion set to 'Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers),
i do: Destination 'US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 and Don't Include Profiles. Using these settings the pdf will have 100k blacks as 100K in the pdf and the images should have the same values as read in Photoshop.
i do: have .joboptions provided by some printers
and i always check my pdfs in Acrobat<output preview.
however, since posting and per your post, i have figure out....
if i had created an .ai (advertisement to place in indesign) document using some 100% k elements....
if i print to pdf in Illustrator: in the 'print' dialog box file<print<setup (with printer: Adobe pdf selected), (window pops up with: 'Continue' or 'Return to Print Dialog') select Continue<Preferences: under default setting choose: PDF/A-1b CMYK, then hit 'OK', then hit 'Print', then you will be back at the original print dialog box, from there go to the 'advanced tab' and choose<overprints<preserve (to eliminate knock-out, which i need to send to a printer.) However, after all that, the ad is still a couple or several megabytes, unlike the regular 'print to pdf' document that will be a couple hundred k or less. It sometimes can be better than orginal .ai placed docs, if they run 10, 20 or more megabytes....

  • Printing a PDF created in Indesign results in blurry text.

    Hello All,
I am in need of assistance.
I have created a flyer for one of my companies products in In-design.
When I print the project directly form In-design the print looks great and the text is nice and crisp.
However, when I export the project to a "Press Quality" PDF, and print it the text comes our blurry and "dirty"
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days now with no luck.
I have tried multiple different setting during the export to PDF form In-design, all resulting in the same issue.
What is strange is when I print the PDF in black and white the text look just as good as if it were printed directly from In-design in colour.
I looked around online and found allot of posts regarding this issue but no definitive results.
I have also checked the colour of the text and it is 100%K.

    What color is the text?
Can you show some screen shots?

  • Printing Photoshop PDF

I am on a rented iBook G4, just got my iMac today but have not hooked it up yet --too busy. I'm on a deadline and am trying to print a Photoshop PDF to Adobe Acrobat PDF that I can to email to a number of people. I have been on a B & W G3 for seven years and have been using a program called "Print to PDF". Now I am hopelessly lost in OSX, which I will start learning after I get this project done this weekend. I created a Photoshop PDF in Photoshop CS2 and it's about 25 MB in size. I saved it as a Photoshop PDF and followed what I thought was the path and it seemed to print it; it opened in Acrobat reader but when I tried to attach it, it was even larger! It has a ton of layers but usually they save as 6-700 KB in my previos program in Classic.
Obviously, I have no idea what I am doing and need some simple explanation to compress this 8 X 10 page full of pictures and type into a reasonably sized PDF the way I used to!!!
Forever grateful; I did search the site but didn't find what I needed to know.

Gasketgirl, On top of flattening the layers, then saving as a Photoshop PDF, you can reopen the file in Acrobat and using the advanced menu, look for an option called 'Optimize PDF'. This option (and there are many more options once you open the dialogue) allows you to compress the file, downsample (I don't suggest you do this) and remove application specific data. Don't save the file after Optimizing as the optimizing itself is a save option. Resaving again removes much of the Optimization you just did!!!
