Printing to PDF=lose tags

When I print to the Adobe PDF Printer I lose tages in the PDF and cannot copy/paste text. This causes the text in my Kindle books and in the Amazon.com 'Look Inside' feature for KIndle and Paperback to show all text as symbols, numbers... Publisher rejects book.
What settings to use to maintain tags, normal text functions...
I want to Print to PDF to 'shrink to fit' the pages in the PDF so I do not have to redo all margins in the book in Microsoft Word.
This is only for the PDF output, then give to publisher; not for printing at home.

I supose the question is directed at Apple rather than the world at large.
Why should I go and use another app? Why can't I just print to pdf from iOS Pages or Safari.
I see now that I raised the same question more than a year ago and also got all kinds of nice and helpful suggestions for "workabouts."
My question should be "Pages and Safari OSX have the option to print to pdf what keeps Apple from not applying that function in iOS?"

  • The iReader (like Reader in Safari) when I print as a PDF loses much of the text. I have to go to Safari to get my full text.

As stated, the iReader as you call it, the icon in the URL bar to the right for converting a page into a more readable page, when printed as PDF loses much of the information, as if a page were simply left out. Safari's reader works fine. But I'm in Firefox most of the time.
    Idea?

Sounds like this extension: [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ireader/ iReader]. Note that this extension was independently developed and unless a volunteer here uses it regularly, this forum might not be able to answer your question.
Web sites can have separate style rules for display and for print. I'm not sure whether the iReader extension is designed to create attractive printouts. When I look at the support site and search for ''print'' there appear to be many reports of problems: [http://code.google.com/p/ireader-extension/issues/list?can=2&q=print].
Some of these issues probably occur in Firefox even without using iReader, but just in case, you could try printing to PDF normally and see whether that works.

  • Printing my PDF with File name and Tags Stamped on

    To Forum,
Possibly not a completely Apple related query, but if anyone know it would be great.
id like to print a PDF on my MBP with the File name and Tags applied to it stamped on the paper copy... or come to think of it, stamped on the PDF copy which i then print out with those stamps on. Either way will do. Any ideas? Its not immediately obvious when i look at the Printing Prefs box.

This is an option built into various apps - Safari, Firefox, Microsoft Office.
There are "PDF Utils" that do this on PDFs one at a time. Can't find a specific one for Macs, but found 2 for Windows.

  • Score loses formating when printing to pdf in Logic Pro

Logic Pro 9.1.6 shows score ok in page view but when it prints to pdf the formatting goes weird with notes dropping off the stave. How do I fix this so I can print a score?

Michael: I have tested other programs ability to print to Acrobat and also tested ability for other programs to
export to Excel or Word. The only crash is when printing an Acrobat pdf from Morningstar Principia Pro I get a bad crash. The work around is to print to XPS and then convert the XPS file to Acrobat pdf. To get out of the crash which can't be fixed by Windows Task Manager shut down, is to open the printer file and tell the printer to delete the pending print job.
I'm using latest Version 9.3.4 Standard Acrobat; Win 7 Pro 64 bit, 10 g of RAM, HPE 390t standalone PC, no networking.

  • Print a PDF report having a field(column table) with a HTML code

    hello every one,
I have a table where a column(varchar2) have HTML code inside it.
Because all my reports are in PDF format, how can I print this column, when I print in PDF I see all HTML tag and it isn't formatted.
Have Anyone same problem, could I convert in PDf before I print it?
    Thanks in advance for help

You need to set "Contains HTML tags" to YES, so that the HTML code is formated in the report.
It is a property of the field.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:
    1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent
    2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)
But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.
I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.
I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)
the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.
Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?
    system:
Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)
MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)
    Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04
printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

I just found this solution on another board, I tried it  (I removed the same file listed below) and it worked for me....
Safari won’t save or print PDFs: how to fix

If Safari won’t save or print PDFs (but views them without any problems), you probably have an Adobe PDF plug-in installed. In Safari, go to Help->Installed Plug-ins and do a search for “PDF.” If you have anything with “PDF” in it other than “WebKit built-in PDF,” that is probably the culprit.
On my computer, the problem was “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin”. To remove it, I quit Safari, did a Spotlight search (Command-Option space) for that file name, and then dragged it to the trash. When I restarted Safari, I could print and save PDFs again. You can also manually find the plugins by going to the system “Library”  folder (the one at the root of your hard disk, not in your user folder) and looking in the “Internet Plug-Ins” folder.
    I’m on OS X 10.8.2, running Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17).

  • Need fast help printing RGB .pdf to Epson 7880...

I am forced to print a RGB .pdf from Acrobat.
And having trouble understanding  how to set the Destination printer/paper/ink profile, here is my best guess but the blue RGB background is considerably lighter than Photoshop Manages Colors and I need to match Photoshop prints.
Here is my Acrobat CS6 Color Management settings Pro9880_7880 PLPP260 is my Epson profile):
I don't think I have it because the Epson Advanced Color Settings is giving me CMYK SLIDERS (not "OFF"):
All filled boxes and text are sRGB, the .pdf is tagged sRGB, Acrobat Object Inspector confirms the RGB profile is embedded.
I built the original poster in InDesign and Exported PDF (Print).
Any fast help greatly appreciated (I am on a deadline)...

    Did some more testing.
Apple's Preview app prints my PDF Source>Print Profile the same as Acrobat 10.1.6.
But I think I found the point where the problem is occurring in InDesign.
The screenshot below shows the Photoshop sRGB document (left) with the blue background, 22/56/158.
The right side shows InDesign blue background (sRGB is Working RGB) with the identical 22/56/158 RGB fill.
Open the screenshot in Photoshop (use the embedded profile, sRGB), and sample the blue background in each app.
There is a considerable difference between them that could account for the difference I am complaining about.
    SEEING IS BELIEVING...
What this tells me is Photoshop is different than InDesign because doesn't display or print my RGB fill the same...
So I have to wonder which one is actually correct?

  • Printing a PDF (CFMX6)

I'm working on an app that prints forms and was wondering if
there was a way to print a PDF that was stored on CF webserver to a
users default printer or printer of their choice ??
I'm just trying to explore is there a simpler way than
lauching the PDF in a broswer window and prompting the user to hit
the print icon in the PDF Reader toolbar. Is there a way to script
the generation of the print command ?? Or am I barking up the wrong
    tree??
    Cheers

I wonder whether it is possible to do that through the usual
scripting. Coldfusion ignores all HTML and CFML outside the
    <cfdocument format="pdf"> </cfdocument> tag pair. But
that is precisely where we would want to put the code that
    instructs the browser to print.
To illustrate, the following (browser-independent?) code will
call up the printing interface. However, it wont anymore when you
    activate the cfdocument tag.

  • Acrobate IX freezes when printing/creating pdf in Firefox - same settings as in IX

    Hi Guys,
Had the product for a week and it is not working... Usual stuff, a new PC take weeks to bed down.
When I try to print/create pdf from something in Firefox, both Acrobate IX and Firefox freeze. I have the old PC with Firefox and Acrobate IX, same default setting and it works everytime. XI freezes. Close Firefox and Acrobate and then re-open and it may print. If it does the next time I try it freezes.
Can anyone help?? not sure how this works... but my email is [email protected]
This place was so hard to find... is there a way to tag this question when an answer comes?? Possibly a Moderator could make it so??

    Hi,
Could you please let me know the version of both Adobe Acrobat & Firefox installed on your machine?

  • Printing a PDF created in Indesign results in blurry text.

    Hello All,
I am in need of assistance.
I have created a flyer for one of my companies products in In-design.
When I print the project directly form In-design the print looks great and the text is nice and crisp.
However, when I export the project to a "Press Quality" PDF, and print it the text comes our blurry and "dirty"
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days now with no luck.
I have tried multiple different setting during the export to PDF form In-design, all resulting in the same issue.
What is strange is when I print the PDF in black and white the text look just as good as if it were printed directly from In-design in colour.
I looked around online and found allot of posts regarding this issue but no definitive results.
I have also checked the colour of the text and it is 100%K.

    What color is the text?
Can you show some screen shots?

  • Printing Photoshop PDF

I am on a rented iBook G4, just got my iMac today but have not hooked it up yet --too busy. I'm on a deadline and am trying to print a Photoshop PDF to Adobe Acrobat PDF that I can to email to a number of people. I have been on a B & W G3 for seven years and have been using a program called "Print to PDF". Now I am hopelessly lost in OSX, which I will start learning after I get this project done this weekend. I created a Photoshop PDF in Photoshop CS2 and it's about 25 MB in size. I saved it as a Photoshop PDF and followed what I thought was the path and it seemed to print it; it opened in Acrobat reader but when I tried to attach it, it was even larger! It has a ton of layers but usually they save as 6-700 KB in my previos program in Classic.
Obviously, I have no idea what I am doing and need some simple explanation to compress this 8 X 10 page full of pictures and type into a reasonably sized PDF the way I used to!!!
Forever grateful; I did search the site but didn't find what I needed to know.

Gasketgirl, On top of flattening the layers, then saving as a Photoshop PDF, you can reopen the file in Acrobat and using the advanced menu, look for an option called 'Optimize PDF'. This option (and there are many more options once you open the dialogue) allows you to compress the file, downsample (I don't suggest you do this) and remove application specific data. Don't save the file after Optimizing as the optimizing itself is a save option. Resaving again removes much of the Optimization you just did!!!

  • Error when printing a PDF direct from SAP archive

    Hi together,
I try to print a PDF direct from SAP archive and I got the error ""C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\reader\AcroRd.exe" /p /h" not found. In the internet I found several topics which describe this way to print a PDF without open the Acrobat Reader.
The customizing for document management (Local application) seems o.k. If I remove in the registry the parameters /h /p for print, Acrobat Reader will open and show the document if I use the print button in SAP.
Have anybody an idea what the reason is?
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Thomas

The rundll32 error seems to have disappeared.  Until this morning I had both this error and the rundll32.  All other types of docs open fine.  This one will open if saved to the desktop first, but not from Outlook.
