Printing to PDF Printer in batch mode is slow!

I work for a company that is evaluating Adobe Acrobat XI Pro to use as a batch PDF printer/creator.  The problem is that with our evaluation trail version when we drop more than 30 print jobs to the printer it takes 12 to 15 seconds to process each one.  An old version of PDF Create 4 we have on our old server creates them much faster!  Is there a limitation on the trail version or a setting I need to check in order to speed this up?
We are dropping the documents to the printer via another program.  The printer is then set up to create the PDF to a named folder using the existing named document for its name.

You mentioned that you are using a program to drop the documents to printer. Which is this program?
Also, please let us know if this program is collecting documents over network and then dropping those to PDF Printer on Win 2008 Server?

  • Cannot print to PDF printer in Acrobat 9 Std

Hi, I've been able to print to PDF printer before.  But lately it stopped working each time I output something to the PDF printer.  It would not generate a PDF document.  I even unistalled the entire Acrobat 9 Standard and re-install a clean copy.  I still had the same problem.  My config is as follows:
         Adobe Acrobat Std 9.4.6
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) with latest release and updates.
    Thanks.

That was what I did by printing to PDF printer as a PDF file.  I provided a file name and location where to save the file, it started to generate the PDF file but then it quitted with the following log message which I do not understand:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%

  • Printing Adobe PDF using mass/batch processing

I've got Purchase Order, Contracts and RFQ forms created using Adobe PDF print forms. Currently, immediate processing is used to print/email/fax the forms (that means that after a PO/Contract/RFQ is created, it is immediately printed/emailed/faxed). An enhancement I'm working on is to allow for mass/batch processing so that the forms will be printed/emailed/faxed at a set time each day. The issue I'm facing is that using mass processing, the PDFs become corrupted (for example, the first PDF form is sent ok but subsequent forms become corrupted or become a duplicate of the first one). When customers receive the corrupted PDF, they get the error that the form cannot be opened.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to accomplish batch/mass processing using Adobe PDF forms? Right now, the immediate processing path is working fine since the there is low volume. However, the goal is to switch to mass processing once volume increases.

I copied and made modifications to the SAP standard print program SAPFM06P and called it ZSAPFM06P. I also made copies of the include files. So for immediate output processing, each time a Purchase Order PDF is created it calls the print program ZSAPFM06P. This process works great no matter how many PDFs are created from POs.
The issue is with BATCH/MASS PROCESSING. Here is the scenario:
    - Purchase requisitions are created anytime during the day.
    - Every 15 mins., the purchase reqs are batched together and an automatic process starts that converts them to purchase orders.
    - Creating each PO calls the print program ZSAPFM06P and depending on the communication strategy, the POs are either printed, emailed or faxed to the customer.
The problem seems to be that when multiple POs are created, some get corrupted and some become duplicate of other POs. However, using immediate processing, this is never the case no matter how many POs are created.
I checked the program and the internal tables and variables used in the code do get cleared/reset each time a PO is created so I don't see how using immediate processing works while batch processing doesn't even though they both call the same program.
I hope this makes it clear a little bit.

  • Print to PDF; Print to Compressed PDF; Print to Web Receipts menu, MISSING

I have been trying for several days now to restore printer prefs for a HP Officejet 7410.
Under Mac OS 10.5, and after reinstalling HP software and drivers from www.hp.com, the drop down menu for PDF option is missing entirely! As a work around... have tried 'file > save as', then choose pdf option. (This option only works in a very limited number of programs! I have gotten accustomed to 'printing to pdf' for archiving and password protecting key docs, and emails, et al; and therefore would like to regain this essential feature.
Question is, are others having this same problem with other printers, or have I missed some critical step in setting up my printer? (I already deleted all printers , then created a new printer profile from the print&fax menu under system preferences).
Any thoughts or useful observations, are Greatly Appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Geoff

    John.
    +Thanks for reply.+
Re: +What steps have you taken to restore printer prefs?+
Originally installed Leopard (OS 10.5) using the *'UPGRADE to MAC OS'* selection.
Went to system preferences > deleted all printers. Clicked "+" button to add HP 7400 Series printer via bonjour. Added other virtual printers (FaxSTF). HP 7410 Printer dialog box was still missing "print to PDF" feature, and other features, so downloaded and installed current software and drivers for HP Officejet 7410. Again deleted all printers from 'Print & Fax' dialog box of System Preferences. Added printers Officejet 7400 Series ; and Officejet 7400 Series FAX.
Still have no "print to pdf" functions; can not use HP color rendering technology, only colorsync is available. Control over ink density, color temperature, and other previous print dialog choices are all MISSING IN ACTION.
I have rebooted from a cloned external HD using prior OS (10.4.10) all printer features function properly. So have concluded that Leopard is not 'prime-time' ready as far as many third party printers. Don't know when either HP will update it's drivers, or when Apple will create a update for devise drivers. Imagine there'll be some finger pointing for source of problem between HP & Apple. Guess will be returning to OS 10.4.10 until these bugs are ironed out.
If you have any other thoughts or suggestions, please drop me a note.
    Thanks,
    Geoff

  • Printing to PDF: prints the wrong page size and orientation

I am trying to print a simple 60 page document composed of 8 x 11 inch pages to a pdf. I want the pdf in spreads, so that 2 8x11 inch pages in portrait orientation will be next to each other as a spread. Each time I try to print, the pdf comes out in the wrong orientation or the wrong size or both. When I export it to a pdf, it is the right orientation and page size, but the file size is way too large. So how do I fix this annoying problem? I have tried adjusting the print setup but it still won't print right. This seems like a simple operation, but indesign has been giving me trouble with this for weeks. I should mention I'm using CC. Thank you.

Go to the AdminUI ( http://<servername>:<port>/adminui ), and to Services, PDF Generator.  Pick File Type Settings, and click on the Standard entry.  If you pop open the HTML to PDF section, you can edit the size, margins, orientation, headings and footers, site recursion, and pdf initial view settings.  <br /><br />Save your settings as a new Filetype (you can make as many as you want), and pass the name the filetype as the second parameter to the call to the htmlToPDF method on the web service client.<br /><br />http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/es/sdkHelp/programmer/javadoc/com/adobe/livecycle/g eneratepdf/client/GeneratePdfServiceClient.html<br /><br />I am unfamiliar with interacting directly with the web services via SOAP, so if you are not using the pre-built GeneratePdfServiceClient supplied by Adobe and this information does not solve your issue you will need to see if anybody else can help.  I imagine that there is a similar String parameter where you place the Filetype name defined in the AdminUI.<br /><br />(edit: I should mention, the GeneratePdf service is a part of PDF Generator ES, not Output ES, so you may have better luck in the general Livecycle ES forum)

  • Have Adobe Pro 8.0 Can't Print to PDF Printer

Am getting error Message "out of paper" instead of dialog window that should ask for file name.

    Bill,
First, let me thank you for sending this email!
I tried “printing to file” from the Adobe PDF printer using AutoCAD (where I was first having the problem), and it did not store a file in any location on the laptop.  The popup window did pop up and ask where I wanted to store the file, but after typing in a name and hitting the button, it just went away.  This was the second test, the first test locked up the program as I discovered that the Adobe PDF printer was set to spool, then print, and it would never stop spooling, 10 minutes of waiting had me cancel out on the printing.  I then selected ‘print directly to printer’. With this change, after the fill in the name of the file window, it just went poof.  No file saved.
I am running Win 7 pro with trend micro security (came on the laptop).  In addition, I cannot use the Adobe PDF printer with any other software either.  However, if I open Adobe directly, then go to the command ‘create pdf from file’, select the file (even if it is autoCAD) it will “make” the pdf document.  So there is a work around.
One additional thing I can say is that, with this laptop, in the past, I was able to use the Adobe pdf printer as intended and it worked well.
I believe that my issues started when I clicked on the ‘pdf-Xchange’ (tracker software) printer by accident one day when I meant to select the Adobe PDF printer, I had installed this software a long time ago on another Laptop and  even through I never “installed” it on this laptop, it came over with copying the files from the old laptop to the new one, somehow, I do not know how, it got set up as a printer on this new machine!!!
I have sense uninstalled it, and removed all it’s folders and files and run CCcleaner to get any leftover .dlls that it might have left.  Since then I have done the uninstall on Adobe and reinstall and also deleted the Adobe PDF printer and then run the ‘repair’ function from Adobe 8.0 to reinstall the printer.  Still does the same thing.  The original error message from the printer info window was that the Adobe PDF printer was “out of paper”, how can a virtual printer ever run out of paper?

    HELP?
    wt

I have seen this issue before on other systems in the company. Our real issues have always involved Acrobat pro somehome. Even upon the initial installation Acrobat cause some problems with the activation of the Design Suite.
This is a Vista system and CS3. Frankly our installtion issues were so tough here that ther has been littel desire to upgrade to the newer versions.
We love the product but if there is an issue it is very difficult to resolve. You willingness to help is greatly appreciated.
Yesterday I could not save to the PDF format in Illustrator. I cleared the prefs file and that cleared up but now I cannot print to the PDF Printer...from any program or any file.

  • Cannot print to PDF Printer in Windows server 2003 x64 (Adobe 9 STD)

    Hi everyone,
I'm running into a very odd issue. We are using Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 in our environment. Recently, I install the x64 bit version of Citrix on top of Windows Server 2003 x64.
The problem that we are experience right now is that when user open a WORD or EXCEL document and try to print to PDF. The SAVE AS windows shows up to allow users to save, but nothing happens afterward. In another word, no PDF file is created.
However, if I ask the user to right click on the file (in windows explorer) and choose Convert to PDF, then the conversion go through.
Do you know a fix for this?

You might read the EULA and confirm the issue I have mentioned. I might not be correct in my estimate, but just gave a sounds like opinion. If it is a violation, then removing it is wise. Typically, Acrobat must be installed on each individual machine. There are multiple license options and server options, but you would need to contact Adobe for more information on those areas. Hope you can get them to talk to you in such a case.

  • Weblogic 10.3.4 as report printer for PDF printing using apex_fop.jsp

    Hello,
Is it possible to use the apex_fop.jsp in combination with Oracle Weblogic 10.3.4 for PDF printing?
We have managed to get our Apex application to print PDF documents using Apache FOP with Oracle Weblogic 10.3.3 or Apache Tomcat 6 as a report printer.
But when we are trying the Oracle Weblogic 10.3.4 server as report printer, we will get the Error 500--Internal Server Error error in the pdf.
One of application server log shows the error "Expected Node-set in Path Expression".

    Steve,
I am using JSF2.0 and getting javax.el.ExpressionFactory NoClassDefFound issues.
    OEPE Helios
    Weblogic 10.3.3
I have an EAR containing one WAR.
    WEB-INF/lib
    el-api-2.2jar
    el-imp-2.2.jar
    jsf-api.jar (2.1.1)
    jsf.impl.jar (2.1.1)
    jstl.jar (1.1.0-D13)
    web.xml has
         <context-param>
              <param-name>com.sun.faces.expressionFactory</param-name>
              <param-value>com.sun.el.ExpressionFactoryImpl</param-value>
         </context-param>
    EAR has
    weblogic-application.xml with
    <wls:prefer-application-packages>
    <wls:package-name>org.eclipse.persistence.*</wls:package-name>
    <wls:package-name>javax.faces.*</wls:package-name>
    <wls:package-name>com.sun.faces.*</wls:package-name>
         <wls:package-name>com.sun.el.*</wls:package-name>
         <wls:package-name>javax.el.*</wls:package-name>
    </wls:prefer-application-packages>
I see by your post that JSF2.0 support can be solved by either deploying a shared-library or using the weblogic.Deployer utility. Unfortunately, we don't have access to change the Weblogic instance in any way. I was hoping that using the prefer-application-packages would be sufficient to use alternative classes to Weblogic's but I have not been able to get it to work for the javax.el classes. I have tried not including javax.el and the app deploys but then accessing a page produces a javax.el.ELResolver no method found for invoke. Invoke being a newer method defined in el-api-2.2.jar. If I was able to convince them to add some shared libs, what are all the jars that would be required to make this work?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    John

  • PDF Printer prompting twice to printer to pdf printer

    Hi,
Have a user that when he tries to print to the pdf printer out of Access 2003, it prompts twice to save as. The first time looks like it tries to save as a .txt file then it goes through the process like it's going to print and then it asks again.

Thanks. Now that the PDF is smaller, I can convert it into a Word document.
HOWEVER, now all the numbers are messed up. For example, when I try to select and copy the number 93.57 I will get (%&,*
And its like that for all numbers in the document......

  • File printed to pdf printer and physical printer

    hallo,
as the title says, my application prints files and they are printed to a pdf file and sent by an email or printed by a physically printer letter and sent as letter to the customer
my application is a nightly batchjob in vb6 which has worked really well for some months but now the customer said, that some of the files have been printed to a pdf and sent by an email and also printed by a physicaly printer so i checked the logfiles and realized that there is only one printing mentiond of the files which have been printed twice (pdf and physically) so now i'm wondering
    the process looks like this:
i read the data from the database, and if the customer has an email address i change the default printer to the adobe pdf printer, then i set value in the registry which is a parameter for the pdf printer, what the name of the file shall be after this i reset the default printer to the physically one
in the logfile aren't any exceptions so the set of the default printer had to work, and also the set of the parameter for the pdf printer, and the files also had been sent by mail so i'm wondering if it's possible that windows or adobe has also sent the file to the physically printer, the OS is windows 2003 server
    hope you can help me
if anything is fuzzy im ready to provide more informations
    thanks a lot
    greetings peter

  • Printing to PDF– printer offline

I'm trying to print a document to PDF.
In the dock is a printer icon labeled Adobe PDF 8.0 @ My Computer
When I click on the icon a box opens, showing the cue.
    It says "Printing '2012 AlumBulletin.indd.'

    Printer offline.
How do I get the PDF printer back online?
Is there some prefs file to trash and then restart?

Hi, I am having the same problem on multiple computers starting this spring as you reported.  I just bought a new win 7 64-bit (happens on 32 bit too) and installed Adobe 9 Pro.  First time I used it to print from the web on IE 9 the garbage printing happened.  I've started to use other methods of creating PDFs because the Adope PDF printer is too unreliable, sometimes it works, more often it does not.  The problem also occurs when printing a PDF of a word document.  Fortunately, I can use Word to save in PDF format which does work.
    Very Very Aggravating !!

  • Printing to PDF printer problem

Since April I have been having a problem printing internet documents to a pdf file. When I print bank transaction documents to a PDF printer the form structure prints correctly but the data that goes in the form is all jumbled up in unreadable characters. I just tried to print a Govenment census confirmation to a PDF file using the PDF Printer in Acrobat 9 and it acted like the Bank printing problem. All other printing of PDF documents works fine. I have the latest updates all installed and the problem still is there. This problem did not exist in the first half of March. Any suggestions?

  • Garbled Text on when printing to pdf printer

Hey folks, I have a user who is getting garbled text in the top right hand corner where it is supposed to display the word "Page" followed by the page number when trying to print to pdf from IE8. The word "page" is garbled (ÆäÀÌÁö 1 / 2    <----- copy/pasted from the document) put the page numbers are fine and so is all the other text in the document.  I've looked around the web for this issue quite a bit and found several references to the "rely on system fonts only" option being enabled but after disabling this feature we're still getting the same issue. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.
