Printing to the margins

I noticed in AppleWorks my documents are not printing to the margins allowed by my printer as they are in other programs. Today I again got the warning message that part of my document may be clipped when I knew that the whole thing should fit within the printable area of my printer, so I did a test print in which I created a new draw document, drew a rectangle which filled the whole page, and filled it with a pattern. The sheet came out with a margin of about a quarter of an inch on three edeges, which is correct, but a margin of 1/2 inch from the fourth edge. When I did the same test in GraphicConverter it left an even margin of 1/4 of an inch on all four sides. Is this a bug in Apple Works or is it correctable? Thanks.

Do you have your specific printer selected in the Page Setup... menu?
In AppleWorks Preferences, have you selected the checkbox for "Fractional Character Widths" for this document?

  • How to print within the margins of the page when printing from iPad to HP Envy D410a?

    When I try to print something from the iPad, either the 1 or the 2, the result is that the image sent from the iPad is printed Borderless, which of course results in parts of the print being cutoff, is there someway to resize the print through the printer, since the iPads don't have drivers?
    Also, I seem to have a similar problem when printing from my PC, only in it's case the resulting print is smaller, it seems to print into a margin size of 1" on all sides. The only app that I have found that lets me override this is Adobe Reader which has the page scaling options.
    All suggestions will be appreciated. TIA.

  • How to  print grouped  field  in the margin area of main page

    I have one requirement where one grouped column has to printed in the margin area and not in the main area.
    ie. if i group by deptno,
    deptno has to be printed behind where date is printed in the margin area
    and for each deptno page changes
    how this can be achieved ? any idea
    because you cannot move deptno from its parent frame.
    anybody knows about this?
    regards

    To have one dept per page, set the Maximun Records per Page property of the dept repeating frame to 1. To display dept in the margin, create summary column that would find Max (or First) deptno with Reset on Page.

  • Notes cut off when printing, issue with margins

    When I print a slide with notes, the notes complete cover the width of the page, flush left and right. My printer cuts the margins automatically (not a bleed), so those portions of the text in the notes gets cut off.
    Any way to control the margins, left and right, when printing notes from Keynote?

    Keynote print layout is a bit of a mess, and is well commented on by users, it prints differently than previous versions, eg  in handouts the slide image is much smaller than previously, in grid, the slides are off the printable area on the left.
    We are hoping this is fixed in the round of scheduled updates.

  • How can I print a label on the last page of the report in the margin

    I would like to display a label on my report but has to appear only on the last page of the report in the margin area or as a footer. I have tried using the solution below that I came across in this forum. This solution only worked if I put the label as a report trailer and not in the margin of the main section of report. The problem of putting the label as a report trailer is that it will only appear at the end of the report on it's own page, i.e. on a new page. I would like the label to appear at the end of the report, on the last page which has the other report details and not to appear on a new page on its own. Could you please help? Thanks.
    1. Create a dummy query, like
    select 1 dummy
    from dual
    2. Create a package spec:
    PACKAGE pkg_globals IS
    totalPages number(3);
    END;
    2. Create a repeating frame and field for this dummy at the end of the report layout.
    3. Create a format trigger for this frame:
    function R_1FormatTrigger return boolean is
    begin
    SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM(pkg_globals.totalPages);
    return (FALSE);
    end;
    4. Create a format trigger for your margin field:
    function F_1FormatTrigger return boolean is
    pagenum number;
    begin
    srw.get_page_num(pagenum);
    if pagenum = pkg_globals.totalPages then
    return (TRUE);
    else
    return (false);
    end if;
    end;

  • Print image (stored in BLOB in database) on the margin - Oracle Reports 6i

    Hi all,
    I would like to print an image with is in the database as BLOB field.
    I can not retrieve the image with a query in the data model because the column will not have the correct frequency to appear in the margin.
    I can not retrieve the image in trigger reports because I can not store the result in parameter or placeholder columns can not take BLOB.
    How can I do that?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    I have achieved this by doing so:
    In Data Model:
    Create a query where you select the blob (ideally 1 record). A group will be created.
    In Layout Model:
    Create a repeating frame in the margin, set the source to group based on query where blob is retrieved.
    Insert a field in the repeating frame, set Source to blob field and File Format to Image.

  • I try to print a purchased ebook but the margins are not set correctly. Is there a way to adjust this or is something else wrong?

    I have the issue mentioned above. I cannot print the whole page. It seems there is a problem with the margins' settings.

    OK, well, when you print, use File > Print or Control-P on the resulting window click on Preferences, then on the Effects tab.  See if you are printing in Acutal Size, like this:

    When printing off the web, I get very wide margins. a 2-page article, will print in 46 pages!

    Try resetting your printer margins in '''about:config'''.
    Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
    ''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
    Filter = '''print_margin'''
    Right-click and select '''Reset''' for both '''''margin_left''''' and '''''margin_right''''' for that particular printer, and then restart Firefox. If you have ever used other "printers" in that Firefox Profile, you'll have separate groups of preferences listed for each printer.

  • [CUPS] Documents print with no margin on top of the page

    Hello people!
    I'm having a weird issue when I print documents. Whatever I print, from whatever application I print, it seems that the top margin is reduced. For instance, I have PDF documents with a one-inch top margin. The margin appears to be okay on the on-screen, but does not appear when printed out.
    I've tried playing with the options in the GNOME print dialog, to no avail. I also tried reinstalling my printer's driver, also to no avail. I have read something on the Internets saying it has to do with KDE print dialog, but I don't use KDE. I have kdebase installed, though.
    Anyhow, let me know if you have any thoughts and/or need any info.

  • My 6x4 picture that I print has a margin on the right side. I have a 4500 H.P. 550 Printer

    I cannot get the margin off the right side of a 4"x6" picture.

    AngelJL
    You may be using 4X6 tabbed photo paper.
    4X6 tabbed photo paper is actually about 4X6.5 inches .
    Peer closely at the paper and look for a slightly indented line across the short end.  This is the "tab".  It is itended as a "tab" with which you hold the paper or write on the tab.
    It is a "feature" of tabbed photo paper.
    It doesn't "come off" unless you cut off the end of the paper.

  • Report not printing all the characters -main section width greater than 11"

    Hi,
    I am trying to build/modify a Report (used in Oracle Apps) which will be printed on some perforated paper. The perforated paper is little bit wider (11.25 inches) than the regular A4 size paper.
    The problem is when I print the report in Oracle Apps, the report isn’t printing all the characters at end of the page. I adjusted the page width to 11.25" in the main section's property palette, but the same thing is happening. Another point to mention is, I should use all of paper space.
    I am not sure if it’s a report builder issue or oracle apps issue.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    You must have larger margin. Try to make smaller header and/or footer.

  • How can I force text in a table to wrap at the margin? Chinese characters result in wide tables.

    Hello all ye RoboHelpers out there.
    Background:
    We're using RH 9 (latest patch) on Windows 7 machine.
    We document in English and then the RH project gets localized into many diff languages and we use that to generate CHM, and Printed outputs.
    The Problem:
    In the Chinese language, in printed output, the right border of most tables exeeds well beyond the margin.
    Here's what the localized table looks like in the RH editor:
    By comparison, here's the equivalent English topic prior to localization:
    Our CHM output is fine. In fact, here's what the Chinese looks like in when output to a browser or previewed and I drag the right side to
    a narrower width. Notice that the table text appropriately wraps to remain within the window's size:
    But here's what it looks like when I generate it in Word's printed output:
    Notice the location of the margin at 6.5 inches. It should be wrapping at the margin. And something is weird with the left cell how it's getting pushed so far to the right.
    The actual table width ends up around 11 inches! I had some tables last time I did this that were as far out as 18 inches but looked perfectly fine in English!
    We use Across Systems for our localization tool, and I've verified that our translators are not messing with the table properties at all; only the text is exposed. One interesting difference I've noticed from other languages, is that Chinese characters do not contain a true space or period characters when we get them back from localization. This makes sentences essentially a really long string of unbroken characters, and I suspect this somehow pushes the generated tables to wide extremes in printed output.
    What I've Tried:
    I've tried to change the table properties in Word to auto fit the size of the window.
    I've tried setting the width in RH to a specific size and regenerating. Still doesn't help.
    I've added in space character and doing that does cause lines to wrap in some cases, but not in all. But I shouldn't have to do this.
    I've tried to create a VBA macro in Word to size the tables, but couldn't get it to work.
    What I need:
    I need to somehow globally force all the tables' text strings to wrap once they reaches the right margin no mater what, even if the line does not contain space characters. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, either on the RH side or the Word side that can do this for these long strings of characters?
    I really hope someone else has figured out how to deal with this because last time I did this, I had to go through approximately 500 tables and manually do a very convoluted workaround dragging the table handle in Print layout mode back to the right margin to get the table to wrap appropriately. It was a major pain in neck!
    Many thanks in a advance for any ideas you might have.

    I wonder the Format Tables macros on my site could be adapted?
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/word/word_macros.htm
    If not, I have used Macro Express to format tables in Rh. No reason it could not be used in Word.

  • URL, title etc of webpages do not print on pages printed off internet despite selecting these in header/footers in page set up. How do I get URL etc to print on the page?

    No matter how I try I cannot get the URL of a webpage or other options such as page title, date etc to print if I print up a webpage. I have done the necessary selections in file>page setup>headers & footers choosing the options from the drop downs. I have even tried making top or bottom margin bigger thinking there was not space on the page. This is still the case if I try to print to different printers.
    Is there something I am missing that needs to be done via some other setting or menu item?

    Thanks, this was a good idea to try, however it doesn't seem to have helped.
    I reset:
    print.print_printer
    Also tried resetting:
    print.printer_Lexmark_6500_Series.print_footercenter
    print.printer_Lexmark_6500_Series.print_footerleft
    print.printer_Lexmark_6500_Series.print_footerright
    print.printer_Lexmark_6500_Series.print_headercenter;
    print.printer_Lexmark_6500_Series.print_headerleft
    print.printer_Lexmark_6500_Series.print_headerright
    Closed and restarted the browser.
    I then selected URL in footer right in page setup but still it refuses to show in print preview or print on the page in hard print. It is most peculiar. Any other ideas? Thanks.

  • If I put an item in clippings that I reduced from a larger article, how do I print just the clippings excerpt?

    If I put an item in clippings that I reduced from a larger article, how do I print just the seperate clippings excerpt?

    Hi Mark,
    I think one thing you may missing is an understanding of the purpose and operation of the mail merge process.
    Mail merge is used to 'personalize' a preset document using information from the records of a database. Any content that will vary from copy to copy of the document must be imported from the database. Every item that is specific to the copy being sent to a specific individual must be included in the row of the table containing the record for that individual.
    For invoices, unless you are sending an invoice for the same item(s) at the same price(s), you'll need to either include the items and prices in the database and merge them into the invoices, or use the merge document to create a document containing an empty invoice for each customer, containing only the customer identification information, and the company information (taken from the card marked "My Card" or "Me"), then fill in each invoice manually.
    The Pages '09 template named "Invoice" might word with the second approach, depending what type of document the merge to file option produces. If it's a Pages document, the table, containing the invoice data, will likely be useable; if it's a pdf document, the table may be editable (or not), but will lose its ability to calculate the tax amounts and totals.
    To produce an individual invoice from this template:
    Open the template.
    Drag the recipient's card from Contacts/Address Book and drop it on one of the fields in the first block of address text.
    Enter the project information in the second block of text.
    Check the Company block in the left margin for correctness.
    Enter the Invoice items and quantities in the table.
    Print (or Print to PDF) the document and mail it.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • I can't get my printer to print to the edge of the page and can't find the right settings.

    I am trying to create an A5 booklet from A4 spreads in InDesign which I have now done but for some reason when I print it is not printing to the edges of the paper. It's about 6mm short on the short edge and 3mm short along the long edge. I don't think the printer we have is full bleed but I would have expected to get a little closer than that to the edges. I have looked at document settings and zeroed all the bleed and slug options and I can't see anything else to change in the printers own settings. Does anyone please have any other idea what I might be able to change?
    Many thanks

    Unless a printer's feature list expressly touts "edge-to-edge" printing, it almost certainly cannot print to any of the 4 edges. It's a mechanical limitation, and 3 - 6 mm is pretty typical.
    tobyhawksmoor wrote:

    Why?
    It's likely there is nothing else to try. If you fed the printer something that would or should print to the edges, if the printer was capable of that, and got the 3 and 6 mm printable area margins, that's quite certainly the best it will do.
