Printing two sided pages Photosmart B010

Hi all, new proud and delighted owner of mac mini but am still using old XP windows PC as lots of stuff still on there. Decided today to install my HP photosmart series B010 printer/scanner via usb connection on mac mini rather than PC to have an easier, faster life. installing was a doddle BUT it now won't print two sided....always did before.
Have tried going to Apple-software update but nothing happened;
Anyone know how to fix this pretty please?
This question was solved.

Hi,
The Two-Sided feature reffer to Automatic Two Sided Printing.
As the specific device provide manual duplexing only you may perform manual duplexing as following:
In order to perform manual duplexing, you shouls use the Pages to Print setting, as you may find listed below:

  • When printing two-sided from my Mac on landscape A4 with 2 columns, how can I get my HP Photosmart 6520 to print the same way up?

When printing two-sided from my Mac on landscape A4 with 2 columns, how can I get my HP Photosmart 6520 to print the same way up?

Or, it is set the other way around (which makes more sense). Even though you are in Landscape mode, it is binding on the Long Side of the paper. Since you are in Landscape, you would want it to bind on the short side.
Think of the Binding like a Book. How would you flip the finished pages to read the “book.” Where it would be bound in the imaginary book is how you want it to print.

  • OfficeJet 4500 will not print two sided over network

I'm running on Windows 7 with an OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z over WiFi.  Printer works great except that it will not print two sided.  We've used a non-WiFi 4500 to print two sided before.  With the new printer the first pages print and the pop-up shows on the laptop (prompt to flip paper over) but nothing happens.  The second pages never print.
I've run all of the HP print and network diagnostics.  Everything appears to be OK.

The solution below was found on the sticky post at the top of this board "Fixes and Workarounds from HP"
I think the patch below only applies if you have the original printer software installed, I assume this issue was fixed in later versions of the printer software, Read the patch information carefully.

    Hi,
Please follow the steps below in order to automatically print two-sided print jobs:
    1. Verify the duplex-printing accessory has been installed properly. To verify this open the System Preferences and go to Print & Fax. Open the print queue of your printer. Click on Printer Setup and from the tab menu choose Driver. Verify the box next to HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked.
    2. On the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click Show details to see all available settings.
Note: If you use Adobe Reader, click teh button to launc the system print dialog.
    3. In the expanded Print window you will find next to Copies the checkbox for Two-Sided. Check the box.
NOTE: If the checkbox does not appear within the specific application print dialog, skip this step.
    4. To select the binding type click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
    5. Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
    6. Set the Two-Sided option as Long-Edge binding (Portrait), or Long-Edge binding (landscape).
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset... Any used preset will remain default till another preset will be used.

  • How do you get Workforce 840 to print two-sided

I can't figure out how to get my new Epson Workforce 840 to print two-sided (iMac running Mac OS 10.7.2).  From MS Word the two-sided option (in Layout) is grayed out.  In Mail and other Apple applications the Preset for two-sided printing is off and I can't figure out how to turn it on.  The two-sided print function works as expected when I print from Windows 7 software (Bootcamp) or if I use the LCD controls on the printer to have copies printed two-sided.  Probably something obvious, but I'm a newbie to the Mac world, would appreciate some help.  Thanks.

I am not sure if it is still valid for OS X 10.7, but check the User Guide.  Go to Output Settings
    Then make your choces:
All instructions and images are from the online Users Guide on the Epson US website.

  • How to print two-sided automatically in Adobe Reader 10.1.2?

Hello, when I want to print two-sided with my printer I select this option:
And my printer does it automatically, I do not have to reload the paper.
However, in the new version of Adobe Reader, after selecting that option this one is automatically checked:
And I have to reload the paper manually:
Can the problem be solved? This did not happen in previous versions.
The printer is an HP P1606dn and I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.2. Sorry about the screen captures in spanish.

    Hi, Shatik
    Thanks for replying.
The DFS shares are mapped as a network drive. This is done just once using a batch file that uses the persistent switch. No roaming profiles, no username\application data path.
Since posting this I can now access PDF's, but many of our staff are now unable to scroll through an entire pdf without Adobe Reader hanging. Again, removing the checkmark in the protected mode option allows full scrolling of a pdf.
Disabling/enabling antivirus real-time scanning makes no difference.

  • Officejet 7310xi does not print two-sided automatically after installing Windows 8.1

When I first purchased my Officejet 7310xi and installed it on my Windows XP desktop PC it worked fine printing two-sided documents automatically. I recently purchased a new desktop PC with Windows 8 and upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and downloaded and installed the Officejet software drivers from the HP download site. But now the printer will not print two-sided documents AUTOMATICALLY -- when this option is selected, I get a pop-up screen telling me to remove the documents from the out tray, turn them around, and reinsert them in the feed bin, i.e., it acts as if I requested two-sided MANUAL printing.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

  • OT - Printing Double Sided Pages - visibility bleed through

    hi all,
curious about OT issue of - printing double sided pages - visibility bleed through. with normal copy paper (20LB) if you print on both sides - you can see the print from the other side show through - not good.
Q: what kind of paper do you need to NOT see the print on the opposite side show through

I'd think 20 lb paper is pretty thin; I'd try 24 lb and, although this is a guess on my part, the way your printer handles the ink could also have something to do with it?

  • How can I print two sided? Linux, Epson 845

The "print two sided" box is greyed out. I am running Linux on an Epson Workforce 845. I have no problem on a Windows 7 machine.

IMO, it's always a good idea to refer to
    [http://www.openprinting.org/printers/]
and check if you really have the recommended driver installed. (But since you have Mint/Ubuntu/Debian it's as easy as installing epson-inkjet-printer-escpr, providing you any EPSON workforce... driver, directly in your package manager/software centre, then go to printers > install new.)
BTW, Epson drivers are quite good; almost impossible that your Epson doesn't print "two-sided".

  • How do you print two-sided in In Design when some sections have an odd number of pages?

I'm new to In Design, and I'm trying to do something that seems pretty basic and having trouble figuring out how to do it, and I haven't found anything in the Adobe Forum or online that addresses this situation.
I am working on a document that is broken into sections, with page numbering starting on Page 1 for each section.  I have mirror image layouts for the odd and even master pages - for example, the page number is on the left side on even pages and on the right side for odd pages, as you might generally expect to see on a two-sided printout, where in a book or a binder, the even pages are on the left and the odd pages are on the right.
I'm printing the document from my computer onto a printer that supports two-sided printing.  I don't see any options in the File / Print window for two sided printing, so I set this option on the printer itself using the [Setup...] button at the bottom of the window.  This works - I am getting the printout on both sides of the sheets of paper.
At the moment, the first section is 3 pages (two spreads, one with the first page, and one with the other two).  The next section starts with page number 1 on the third spread (one page) and then continues two pages per spread - all as expected.
Here's the problem - the first page of the second section is printing on the back of the last sheet of first section, rather than starting on a new front-facing sheet - so when I put this in a binder, the odd pages are on the left and the even pages on the right.  Every time I hit the end of another section with an odd number of pages, it flips around again.
There's a manual workaround I found - scan through the document and add a blank page to the end of every section that has an odd number of pages (and check "Print Blank Pages).  But I'd have to do this every time I print as I'm adding new pages, and add/delete blank pages as the number in each section changes.
I can't believe that In Design doesn't provide a way to get this to work properly, as I'm sure many people have had this same situation, and I'm hoping that it's some simple thing that I just haven't been able to figure out...
    HELP!!! (thanks!  B^)

Well, MS Word does something like this automatically - if you tell it to start a new section on an odd page, and if the section before it ends on an odd page, it will "skip" the even page number in between - and when it prints, it automatically spits out a blank page in between them, so that on a two-sided printer, the odd pages all print on the front of the paper (which is the right-facing sheet when they are put in a binder or book).
InDesign shows the pages like this on the spreads (odd page numbers always on the right), so it is aware of the desired orientation, and I'd think it would provide a mechanism to ensure that they print out this way as well...

  • Trying to figure out how to print four postcards per two-sided page.

I've been a Mac user for a little over a year, and I love it, but with this latest (2014, OS X) version of Pages, I cannot find out how to set up my document so it will print four, two-sided postcards. The only postcard templates are two per page, and it feels like I've gone to the end of the application and back trying to figure out the answer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    :Danul

    Just adding to Viking's reply.
The trick is to get the second page (the back) to print behind the first set (the front) when you feed the paper back into the printer or use the duplexing function, if your printer has that.
Desktop printers do not feed paper very accurately so it is hard to align the two. It will pay to test if there is a consistent error in positioning and move the 2nd set to allow for it.
Best to aim for the centre of your paper stock, so adjust the artwork to have the two samples head to head exactly in the centre of the page with a 10mm or 3/8th inch gap between them. You can do this using the Graphics Inspector to position them and rotate the top postcard 180°.
    Step by step:
    1. Group and rotate the top postcard 180°
    2. Position it with 10mm or 3/8th inch gap above the 2nd postcard
    3. Group the two postcards and centre the set on the page
    4. Do the same to the back set
    5. Print the front set
    6. Tumble turn or rotate the paper (test for what works) and put back into the printer to print the back set
    7. Test by printing simple boxes the right size and shape to see how they align. Move template on the page to allow for any errors the printer makes.
For a set of 4 follow above on a landscape page, with another pair next to this one.
    8. If there is only one design for the postcard (1 front and one back) they can be on the same page, head to head (see above) and when you feed the paper back in the printer, the back should print behind the front and the front behind the back to make up two double sided postcards.
Simply test, using dummies to indicate paper direction, rectangles with F & B in the centre, and take note which direction, and side up needs to go into the printer for what result. Then keep that information handy by the printer, with step by steps to repeat them.
