Printing using other applications

My boss wants to print his iPhoto images using Canon's Easy PhotoPrint. Is there a way to make a contextual menu item in iPhoto that sends a reference to the image to Easy PhotoPrint for printing? Or are we stuck with using the AppleScript-menu to sent the images to Easy PhotoPrint?

Not familiar with Easy PhotoPrint. Is it a separate application? If so then in iPhoto's General preferences select it as the editor of choice when you double click on a thumbnail. Then close the preferences and go back to the General section and reset the editor to what it was before, probably "in Main window".
Now you can Control-click on a thumbnail and select edit in external editor. That should send it to the Easy PhotoPrint application for printing.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

'Normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software do not work on the iPad (iOS), they are different operating systems. You can only install apps from the iTunes App Store on your computer or the App Store app directly on your iPad.

Playing Clips/Sequences in background, while using other application?

I am working for a reality TV show and we are trying to take notes in Microsoft Word while the editors sequences are playing.
Is there any way to change the preferences so that Final Cut will play a clip or a sequence while we are using another application, like Word.
I know that quicktimes will play while I use other applications but will Final Cut do the same thing?

The program is not so sophisticated as to track both sequence TC and clip TC.
If you need Clip TC, as Michael notes, just open them individually in Notetaker. Be sure to add other info Like Reel Name (number) on your own. The program doesn't seem to read the additional info fields that you add in FCP.
While not perfect, it does offer a slick way to create review notes for easy communication.
I understand one of the Adobe Premiere collaborative tools includes a note taking extension. I reportedly creates a file that can be imported by another person and will place markers on the timeline with the comments.
I suppose if someone were very capable with XML scripting, they could do the same thing with a text file containing TC markers and be able to import that into a project ....

Premiere crashing if using other applications

I'm having problems with Adobe Premiere crashing on me.
It seems to happen whenever I use another application (like Chrome or Windows Explorer) while Premiere is open, then go back to Premiere. It pretty much instantly crashes as soon as I click inside the Premiere window.

I've done a little more testing and found out that it doesn't have anything to do with using other applications. It happens if I minimize Premiere as well.
Another thing which might help pinpoint the problem: if I open a new empty project, it's fine, but if I add a new sequence and minimize Premiere it crashes instantly.

I seem to have figured it out. I did a reset of the prefrences (by holding ALT while starting Premiere) and it hasn't crashed since.
I also installed the newest Quicktime. Not sure which of these changes fixed my problem, but it seems to have done it.

I can't print CS5 files from my Mac OSX (Mavericks). Can print from other applications. Help please?

I just tried installing them. I got the message that "Some updates failed to install" (including for CS5), to quit and try again. I was curious and tried again to print and lo and behold, I could print! I'm still nervous that not everything installed and wonder how to get a complete install.

Acrobat X Pro won't print but other applications do

I have a Samsung CLP-680ND printer running off the network. I am using iMacs OS 10.6.8.
I'm having trouble printing to this printer from Acrobat Pro, but can print perfectly well from any other application, including Acrobat Reader.
The Print dialog menu shows limited options compaired to other printer connected to my network (which print the pdfs fine) i.e. the 'print on both sides' option isn't there on this printer.
When I go to print i get the error messages 'The document could not be printed.' followed by 'There were no pages selected to print.'
This is really puzzling me, as I would of thought, if it wasn't going to work, then nothing would work, especially Acrobat Reader.
I have tried updating Acrobat, Repairing, Removing and reloading. Tried on another iMac. Connecting via direct usb. Updating all printer drivers & software. Removing all printers & reloading. And have now run out of ideas.
Any one out there having the same problem and fixed it?

Thanks Jeff - what's strange is that I've been prompted a few times since installation to register the software, so I don't know why it would be doing that if it's already registered.
When prompted, I would follow the links to the registration information page, and then work through the registration process, and then when prompted to enter the serial code it does not accept it. I've tried the serial code that came with the license, as well as the serial codes for the individual products (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), and none of those were accepted by the registration form. So "registering to an account which includes your companies information would be sufficient." does not seem to be working for me, unless there is more to "including the companies information" then I've seen in the sign up pages.
To be clear, I'm not fumbling around blindly here, I've done a lot to try and register the product myself and have yet to succeed.
My questions are these (and apologies if this is not directly related to the OT), 1) is there a way to confirm the product is registered, 2) if it is not registered, what specifically do I need to tell the purchasing people to do to make sure it is registered properly, and 3) after following the process here: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html - does this fix the Acrobat issue for good, or will I have to repeat this process in another 30 days? Does lack of registration potentially affect other products in the Web and Design Creative Suite?

ACCENT Symbol in Oracle Reports printing using 10g Application server

Some of the report with names containing ACCENT symbol are printing like upside-down comma. But the report used to printing certified copy and the client requiring to print the ACCENT symbol as it is. Oracle support recommend us to use PDFPrint destination, which is third-party utility that converting the post-script output to printer for ACCENT symbol. Please provide the link and instruction to download the PDFprint utility and installation requirement for the below environment:

By the looks of it you used 9i which also used an Application Server so your knowledge should be up to date. The Default URL has changed a little as has the port. Look in the installation guide for the default URL and port.
If you mena the development side you can use the one-button-run functionality which makes it possible to run am form without the full App Server just by hitting the run button in the builder. You do need to start the local OC4J but that is easy. On Windows there is a start menu item to do that. On Linux you run a shell script I think.

The photo cartridge is used for graphics and printing on photo paper. You may be able to use the photo cartridge by selecting Photo paper in the driver settings. This is not a recommended solution - printing will be slower and it may put too much ink on the page. It may be an OK solution for temporary printing.

Use other application server to run Oracle generated web services

Hi all,
I am currently running an Oracle 9i database and application server (OC4J) and use WebservicesAssembler (JPublisher) to expose PL/SQL packages as web services to an external PDA application.
Is it possible to run the EAR files (the assembled web service) generated in this way on another type of application server? This question because I need to use Resin in a live environment.
If this is not possible, would there be a way to work around it? I mean by manually programming the web service against the PL/SQL package. And if so, has anybody tried that out before?
Are there other alternatives?

Which version of OracleAS/Web Service stack are you using?
If you are using a version prior to 10.1.3 the Web Service stack is proprietary and not portable.
JAX-RPC used in 10.1.3 is more portable but you have to be very careful about the way you create your deployment descriptor.
In a general manner you can always create pure JDBC/JPublisher clients and expose them using the Web Service that you want.

Using other applications (specifically iClicker) with keynote

I am trying to use iClicker in my keynote presentation. I am able to see the iClicker floating bar and graph on my presenter's view, but I can not get the floating bar to appear on the projected/presentation view. I have selected the appropriate options in Keynote Preferences (i.e., allow others to use the screen), but am still unsuccessful.
Any ideas?

Can you tell the iClicker software which display to use? Have you tried dragging iClicker's main application window to the external display?
If you can't, then there might be a somewhat kludgy workaround: when you connect to the projector, go into your display preferences, click on the Arrange tab, and move the menu bar to the external display. Then in the Keynote prefs, tell Keynote to present on the primary display instead of the secondary. Changing the arrangement makes the projector your primary display and your normal display the secondary. Keynote doesn't really care which display it uses for what (in fact the default setting is to present on the primary display in a 2-monitor configuration). But if iClicker is insisting on using the primary display, that might be what you need to do to whip it into shape.
I would start with the iClicker prefs, if any. But failing that, try changing the screens around.

One question can i use in the Applcation Service another Application Service (not Business Object)?
The reasons I want to have this possibility:
If I use the external service and I will be exposed as a new Applicaiton Service, thus it can be used by several application Services.
I have put one Application Service A into the dependency of Application Service B... but in code i can not find out the API to lauch to the Application B.

Every time I try to print a page - either to a printer, it will not print. Other applications will print so it's not the printer or the connection

This allows me to use other applications such as PageManager. However oncde I run Labview I must again reboot to gain access to the other applications.
I thought all SQL and Database drivers were downwards compatible.
