Printing waiting for authentification

(tried to convert my request into english, sorry if poor translation)
Status is :
Side-1 : Windows8 PC with a Samsung printer connected and shared (I can print on it from other PC'S on the same network)
Side-2 : MacBookPro on Mavericks :
- i am able to see the WindowsPC and access the files on the PC
- but i cannot succeed to print on the Samsung wired to the PC
Results are :
- waiting for authentification (trying unsuccessfully the refresh withe same usercode/psswd used to see the PC)
- menu : printer / network diagnostic shows : unable to connect to the server (the PC) while the finder is.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Guy

the usercode/pswd is used was the same as the one i use to connect the Mac to the PC ?

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Hp LaserJet P3015 printer "waiting for printer to become available" message

    Hello All,
I have searched through many message boards about this issue (some steaming back to as far as 2009) and I have yet to find a solution that has worked for me.
    Background of situation:
In my office we have a dozen iMacs and Networked hp LaserJet P3015 printers.  Most work perfectly fine with out issue.  We are currently running 10.8.4 OS.  There are a few issues that seem to be unique to users or types of iMacs.  1) Three brand new iMacs (the skinny ones that come without the CD drives) where showing a message prompting for the "printer operator group".  I have that setting turned off but reguardless I added the user accounts to the "printer operator group" as well as the "printer admin group".  After I did that the users started to recieve the message "waiting for printer to become avaible".  When this message appears it never printers (I left it for a 20 minute period to no avail).  I have tried a whole host of fixes with short term success but the issue keeps reoccuring.  Here is a list of fixes I have tried:
    What I have tried
    1) I plugged the iMac directly into the printer via USB cable to install the drivers locally
    2) I added the user to the printer operator group and the printer admin group
    3) I checked all settings on both the printer and computer
    4) I have removed and re-added the printer several ways (from the network and directly via UBS cable)
    5) I checked the Ethernet connection to the printer (all are fine) (also eliminated the need for it by directly plugging her in via USB cable)
    6) I have "power" shut down the printer
    7) I restarted the printer settings on the network to eliminate any lingering issues
    8) Made sure the software is up to date (which according to some message boards is what the problem is)
    9) I have replaced both the actual Computer and Printer (with another brand new iMac), while additionally creating a new user account to eliminate hardware and faulty user settings as the culprit, as well as plugged the printer directly into the computer and removed it from the network.
    10) I prayed to the IT gods
    Other Notes:
I did see a solution from a message board that said to delete all "hp_" files in system/library/extensions and then directly plug the printer into the computer to install the drivers that way (which he said worked) but the guys also said that if he ran software update then the issue would re-occur.  This seems to be counter productive as I like to keep all software up to date
    What I have noticed:
    - The issue seems to affect the newer iMacs in my office more then the older machines despite everyone running the same OS version
Thank you all so much in adavanced for your time reading my post.  The issue has been extremely frustrating for both me and the end users and I appreaciate any help that anyone can provide (even if its just pointing me in the direction of another message board)
    - Chris

You have not mentioned it but based on some of the things that you have said, I would assume that the Mac's are bound to a domain. So, for one of these Mac's, if you logged on locally and then created a print queue to the network printer, do you get the same message?

  • HP Laserjet 3055 printer "waiting for printer to be available" after HP Printer Software Update 3.0

I have an HP Laserjet 3055 All-in-One Printer. It has been printing just fine from my iMac running OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks) until after the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0, that I installed on 1 Oct 2014. Although the 3055 is shown as connected/idle to my iMac via USB, after clicking "PRINT" for a document, the print queue status soon changes from "printing" to "waiting for printer to become available", and the printer never becomes available. I have tried rebooting everything (printer, computer, text software), checking USB cable connections and changing USB ports, deleting and re-adding the 3055 printer (numerous times!) even after resetting the print system, but could there be something inherently wrong with the latest HP driver (version 19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052)? Or is it possible something else is going on?  In other words, I have exhausted all the solutions I've found in these and other forums to no avail.
I have tested this printer by connecting it to my MacBook Pro (also running OX 10.9.5) but without having installed the HP Printer Software Update, Version 3.0. (Hadn't gotten around to this update...) The printer works fine, even though the driver has the same version number--19.9 for HP Laserjet 3052. So could the version 19.9 driver in the latest HP Printer Software Update be corrupted? Is there any way to reinstall that driver? Or copy the 19.9 driver from my MacBook Pro and install it on the iMac? HP only refers to the Apple Software Update process for Mavericks compatible drivers for this printer. Can I manually uninstall the HP driver for the Laserjet 3055 from my iMac and then have the iMac download the driver again in the process of re-setting up the 3055? Any suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks for your suggestions. After creating a bootable back-up, I tried the first suggestion--downloading and re-installing the HP printer driver update kit for which you kindly provided the link--but to no avail. Before downloading the driver update kit, I "reset the printing system", clearing all the installed printers, queues, etc. After re-installing the HP printer drivers, I went to System Preferences>Printers & Scanners to once again add the HP LaserJet 3055 only to discover it was already listed as installed! This I find baffling, to say then least. I tried printing and again got the "waiting for printer to be available" message. I subsequently tried deleting and re-adding the printer, going through the printing system reset again, but still no-go.
I also tried another approach to adding the printer which perhaps will shed some light on the problem. After clicking on the "+" button to add the printer, I select the "HP LaserJet 3055" which shows up as available via USB. Then, instead of using the "HP LaserJet 3052" driver that automatically appears in the "Use" [choose a driver] field, I chose "Auto Select" to see what happens. As the computer processes this request, the status message changes from "Gathering printer information..." to "Waiting for printer to become available..." And, of course, it never becomes available. This strikes me as odd, that the printer set-up system "sees" the printer accurately enough to list it as available to add but can't find it with the "Auto Select" approach to getting the appropriate driver. Of course, when I simply go with the "Use HP LaserJet 3052" driver option that, naturally enough, is the one automatically suggested by the printer set-up system, the printer is "successfully" added. I say "successfully" in quotes because it never becomes "available" to print something.
Before I try your second suggestion--downloading and re-installing the 10.9.5 combo update--I wonder if it's possible that the printing system reset process is "broken". It's as though the reset fails to clear the printer queue, making it appear that there is a pending printing job that the system is waiting to be finished. Also, as noted above, I reset the printing system prior to re-installing the HP printer driver update kit and then, after installation, the HP LaserJet 3055 magically had already been added. This makes me wonder if the printer wasn't properly "cleared" from whatever makes up the printer System Preference process during the reset.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Hp Officejet Pro x64 Printer does not print, waiting for available

Many times, when I send something to print, it just says, "waiting for printer availability".  I have checked all my settings, and the correct printer is selected.  Sometimes I turn the printer on and off, and it might work.
As this is a new printer, I am not happy about this.
    Sara McNulty

    Hi @SaMac2,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!  I understand when you send a print job to your HP Officejet 8610, you get a message 'Waiting for printer availability'. Sometimes if you turn the printer off and then on it will work. Please follow the steps listed below:
    Repair Disk Permissions
1.On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    2.Double-click Disk Utility.
3.Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
4.Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
5.Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
Did this help? Please let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.

  • Message "waiting for job to complete..." for printing

    Hello,
I have a printer installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, shared for a
windows 7 computer (OK), and a Macbook Air 10.8.3. m.lyon. (KO) is installed and configured correctly. HP Deskjet 3940.
But in the MacBook when I print any document send the form to the
Windows tail, and appears well in line, even tells me not just printing but printing ever, life is printing but printing out the document, including the correct printer makes noise as to be printed but nothing .
On the MacBook print queue the message remains "printing: waiting for job to complete ..." and never complete.
I install the printer on the Windows icon in Printers & Scanners for smb
for the default printer and the result is always the same.
Connect the printer directly to a USB port on the MacBook to try and charge good drivers and printed the first ....
I need help, can you help,
    thanks,
    Joan.

    I solved this as follows....
    Go to the Windows computer.
Open printers and select the printer
    Go to Customize your printer
    Go to ports
Disable "Enable Birectional Support" in the Ports
    Sounds crazy, but it worked.
    Good luck, YMMV.

  • Waiting for printer to become available - OSX 10.8.4

Hi, I foolishly allowed the HP printer updates on my imac running Mountain Lion, 10.8.4.  I learned not to do that on Snow Leopard but suffered a lapse resulting in 'waiting for printer to become available' and when it is reset, it only prints every other page.
In Snow Leopard I could get rid of it by going into system - library and deleting HP; the status quo was restored.  I cannot seem to do that in Mountain Lion and its really a pain!
I've tried deleting and reloading the printer to no avail.  It's an HP 2550.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I don't think I did anything other than plugged the printer into the USB and more or less let it do its own thing, i.e. I selected it off the list and used the driver that was built into Snow Leopard - to be honest I didnt really think about it as it all just happily worked in the Apple fashion.
All was fine for some time until a standard Apple update included HP printer updates, which I installed but then found the issue that the printer would print one job but no more until powered down and back on, when again one job could be done and so on.  I found it referred to here and elseweher and it seemed a common problem that was cured by going into Library/extensions and deleting all HP files.  I then avoided updating the printers and if ever it did slip through, I could readily get rid of problem.
This is one of the discussions I looked up back then https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2649214?start=0&tstart=0 but there do seem to be plenty of others.
I upgraded to Mountain Lion three or four months ago and didnt need to do anything with printers as it just happily continued to work until a couple of weeks back when I inadvertently let the HP update slip through and found the printer 'waiting to become available' after each print job.  I then attempted the method I had used for Snow Leopard but found the system is different.
I have got into the printers folder and deleted the HP files as well as resetting the printers in printer preferences but every time I plug the printer back in it seems to find the updated driver from somewhere!  That then appears in the printers folder.
I'm afraid I don't know about the protocol etc., although I'm willing to give anything a try.
    Thanks again

  • Waiting for printer to become available

I'm on OS X 10.8.5, and have a USB printer: HP p4015dn.   It used to work fine to print.  All of a sudden, it shows "Waiting for printer to become available", forever, and will not print. I can successfully print to networked HP printers, but even though I've rebooted the machine, rebooted the printer several times, this one just won't print anymore. I tried creating a new queue to this printer and it pauses when it tries to connect as though it can't communicate with the printer. I've tried putting the USB cable into a different port. No good. Also, no idea if this is a coincidence or not, my Fax modem stopped working - won't send out faxes anymore.  What do I do to debug this?

Yep, did all that (including resetting the printing system). I can still add new Networked printers and print to them fine, but can't print to this one USB printer (but other computers can, if I move the USB cable). I went to the printer console log and I see

  • "waiting for printer to become available" on laserjet 4650

Since 10.6.5, I can't print to my color laserjet 4650. All I get is a "waiting for printer to become available" message. I've repaired permissions, removed and re-added the printer, I've reset the printing system and plugged the printing straight into the mac book. Nothing has worked.
    Any help very gratefully received.

I am experiencing the same issue with my HP 2550L. I can get a single job to print, but any subsequent jobs hold with the "Waiting for printer to become available" status.
The only solution I have found thus far is to shut the printer off and turn it back on prior to sending each job.
This issue JUST arose in 10.6.5 for me.

  • "Waiting for printer to become available" message

Each time I try to print to my Laserjet 1300, I see a message in the print queue stating, "Waiting for printer to become available."  It never processes.  I delete the job, try again but the same result.  Result is same for short plain text, PDF or .jpg files.  However, I can print a test page directly from the Laserjet 1300 printer.  Have rebooted computer and restarted printer with no effect.  Am able to successfully print to my backup HP Deskjet F4180.  Am using a MacBook Pro OS 10.6.6.  All software updates have been made.  Thoughts?

If you are using Snow Leopard and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall <<<< Scrubber Option
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
    Finally, reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Hum. Let's uninstall with the 'scrubber option' like this:

    5. Click Continue and let it finish
Now, run a Software Update. This can be done by clicking the Apple in the top left of the screen then clicking Software Updates.
Next, let's reset the printing system:
Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Default tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Let me know how this works for you.

  • Waiting for printer to respond officejet pro 8600

I am suddenly getting a message when I try to print from any Microsoft Office 2010 program to my Officejet Pro 8600.  It says, "Waiting for pinter to respond".  It only flashes on the PC screen for a few seconds, but then it takes a long time for the printer to come to life and get started printing the document.
In addition, I had one Word document that was taking forever to print.  Both issues started a few days ago.  The document is mostly a drawing, with a bit of text.  It used to print just fine.  I deleted the document, made a new scan of the drawing, added the text and saved it to a new folder in case there was a problem with the destination folder.  Nothing happened.  I tried doing the same thing making it a Publisher document.  Same thing happened.  Every other document prints fine (except for the wait time for it them begin)  I uninstalled/reinstalled the printer and drivers, did a repair of the Office software.  No change.
I downloaded and ran the HP Print & Scan Doctor.  It found no problems.

    Hey @sldmsh,
Thanks again for getting back to me. After some additional digging I did find this Microsoft Support document that seems to describe what you're experiencing:

There is a suggested fix under the Resolution section of the document that you can try. By enabling the 'Print directly to the printer' feature you avoid spooling print jobs.
Should the issue still occur I would recommend that you reach out to Microsoft Support for additional guidance.

  • "Waiting for printer to become available" LaserJet 3390 OSX 10.8.5

I have had my LaserJet 3390 for years and it has worked great.  I have a MacBook Air running OSX 10.8.5.  According the the documentation I've seen, I can't download a specific driver, but there is a set of HP drivers that gets installed and updated through the Mac's Software Update.  Occasionally, I see an HP printer driver update. After I installed the last one (I think it started soon after, but not just after) I started getting the "Waiting for printer to become available" message that never seems to clear.  I can't print a thing.  Very frustrating!
    I've tried:
    1) Repair disk permissions, delete the printer, reinstall the printer.  No dice.
    2) I've looked in Software Update to either reinstall the HP printer drivers or to install a previous version.  No dice--can't find it anywhere.
    Any advice?

I am really sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at Printers - LaserJet.

  • I keep getting a "waiting for printer to become available when trying to print on my Epson Photo Stylus 2400. It used to work.

I'm trying to print a .psd image from Photoshop CS5 using my Epson Photo Stylus 2400 printer.  Yesterday, I downloaded a suggested upgrade and it hasn't worked since then. I used Time Machine and replaced the Epson utility with the old one. I then get a message:
Waiting for printer to become available...
and nothing happens.  I need to be able to print!
    I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Try Reset Printing System feature and then install the printer using Apples instructions  from Mac Basics: Printing in OS X

  • Cups and "waiting for printer to become available"

    Hi all,
i have a problem with cups (i don't know since when),
when i try to print something i receive the message:
"waiting for printer to become available"
And i'm aware that this problem happens when you have usblp loaded. So first of all i checked if the usblp module is loaded and here the result:
    usblp 9311 0
    usbcore 119004 8 usblp,uvcvideo,uas,usb_storage,usbhid,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd
But if i go to check the /etc/rc.conf file the MODULES line is:
    MODULES=(lib80211_crypt_tkip wl radeon vboxdrv vboxnetflt powernow-k8 cpufreq_ondemand !snd-pcm-oss !b43 !ssb !usblp)
And it seems that usblp module is not loaded.
    Now the question is:
    What's wrong?
I did something wrong? I forgot somethin?
    Thanks,
    Ivan

    Oddly enough...
I couldn't find usblp in my lsmod output but I was also getting this "cups waiting for printer". My file utility is version 5.18 and although I considered downgrading it, that just felt too much like thrashing about. (My printer is a USB HP LaserJet 1020)
In the end, I did something else that felt like almost as much thrashing about. I followed the "changes to module blacklisting" page with usblp, restarted cups and cycled power on the printer. Now it's working again. I wish I entirely new why.
I think what happened was the automatic power up of the printer (or of the computer) loaded usblp but the fooz file for LaserJet was unloading it so (a) I never saw it in the lsmod output and (b) it was in the system long enough to snarl things, followed by (c) if only it was blacklisted at the time that the system saw the printer it would not be there and not foul things up. Does that sound like a reasonable chain of events.
one more reason to resent (grumble, grumble, grr grr) systemd over the older (admittedly clunkier, more manual -- but more CONTROLLABLE!) initscripts. (Okay, I'm over 45)
    cheers...ank

  • Can't print on HP 3700..."waiting for printer to become available..."

I can't print on my HP 3700. I've disconnected all cables, re-booted and nothing. I tried to remove and re-add the printer from 'Print & Fax' in System Preferences. I send something to print (from any application) and then in the print queue says "waiting for printer to become available...". Any help would be greatly appreciated!
