Printing with Acrobat 8.1 needs a lot of memory after pdf is distilled which leads to blank printed

The above mentioned problem occurs in the following scenario:
- print PDF file (434 pages, 600 dpi scanned images (monochrome) to a postscript file (problem is not dependent on the used driver)
- convert to PDF with Acrobat Distiller (default settings)
- print file to a printer or postscript file. The following happens: The amount of private bytes (memory) used by acrobat grows to the maximum that can be allocated by a single process (2 GB) and a selection of pages (approximately the last 60) is printed without content. No error is generated by acrobat. If I print the origional document this problem does not occur and the amount of memory that acrobat allocates is much smaller.
So I think this problem is introduced by Acrobat Distiller. Does anyone know which settings in acrobat distiller generates this problem?

I have some more information. The problem is not related to the distiller, but to the printing backend of acrobat 8.1. After generating the postscript with acrobat 8.1 an additional image of 1x1 pixel is generated in the pdf (after distilling with distiller 8.1). This is not the case if I generate the same postscript with acrobat 7 and distill with distiller 8.1.

created by Sara.Forsberg in Acrobat Reader - View the full discussionHi verlaa73828618, It sounds, then, that you can't even open Adobe Reader. Is that correct? What version of Reader are you currently using (and are you on Mac OS or Windows)? Have you tried reinstalling Reader? Best,Sara If the reply above answers your question, please take a moment to mark this answer as correct by visiting: https://forums.adobe.com/message/7446005#7446005 and clicking ‘Correct’ below the answer Replies to this message go to everyone subscribed to this thread, not directly to the person who posted the message. • The document could not be printed with Acrobat Pro 9.5.1

All at once the Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9.5.1 gives the error 'The document could not be printed', 'there were no pages select to print'.
I have no idea what the problem is, all printing from other applications is fine, without any problem. A pdf in an email can be printed from my iPhone, but not from the PC (win 7 Ultimate SP1, 64 bit).
All pdf's have this problem, no matter if they stem from a download or made with Word or InDesign.
I de-installed and installed Acrobat Pro, no result. I also de-installed and installed the whole CS4 bundle, no result.
I also re-installed the printer, no luck.
I visited a lot of fora without succes. Is there someone that can help me with this?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting the problem.
It seems you are unable to print any pdf from Acrobat. You mentioned that you are able to print the same PDFs from iphone and other devices.
Are you able to print from any other application(e.g. word, notepad) from the same machine where you are seeing the issue. It looks to me that your machine is not able to establish contact with the printer but your other devices are able to.
    Please confirm.
    Thanks,

  • I can not print an PDF using the Adobe PDF-Printer with Acrobat DC

    Hi all,
i installed the Trial of Acrobat DC but it dont let me use the Adobe PDF-Printer well, because i cannot print from any third-party-application using Adobe PDF.
I tryed to print from within Word, Editor and Browser and selected the Adobe PDF-Printer as target, but at 75% both, the Application from which i print and the PDF-Creating-Wizzard are freezing (for hours) and i need to kill the procesed. No PDF-File is created. Same Problem with trying to print a Testfile from within the Windows-Printer-Dialogs.
Only Adobe DC cause this issue, if i use freeware like Bullzip PDF the files get created successfully, so i assume its not a generally problem with PDF on my system.
What could be the problem? (pls dont say its because of the trial, a trail should allow to test all features and Why should i buy a programm if it cannot do what a freeware can do?)

    Hey Daniel,
Have you tried repair Adobe Acrobat DC?
If no, then please repair the installation under Help menu.
This could also happen due to an Adobe Acrobat DC installation file corruption. To resolve this issue :-
Uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Acrobat cleaner utility.
    Restart your computer.
Re-install Acrobat Acrobat DC  Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC.
Let me know if the issue persist.

  • Wrong orientation of backsides of landscape pages when printing with Acrobat Pro 9

Since I switched to Acrobat 9 I have the following problem:
Two landscape orientated documents that were printed
identically with Acrobat 8 are printed different with Acrobat 9
(backsides of the document are rotated 180 degrees). The documents
    have the following properties:
    Landscape doc 1:
    - Media & crop box: [0 0 595 842] Rotation: 90 degrees.
    Landscape doc 2:
    - Media & crop box: [0 0 842 595] Rotation: 0 degrees.
I am using the identical driver. If I check the generated
postscript I see that they have a different orientation (portrait
    vs. landscape) and a different viewing orienation (1 0 0 1 + 0 1 -1
    0 vs. 0 1 -1 0 + 0 1 -1 0). Anyone an explanation for this
    difference?

  • Gray becomes green when a Adobe 8.1.0 PDF is printed with Acrobat 9 Pro ...?

    Hello,
when the PDF file which was created with Adobe 8.1 is printed with Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro the gray is as it should be.
If the same file is printed to the same printer (same settings) with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on another Workstation in the same office the gray becomes kind of green.
I noticed the grayscale Option in the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro was set to Dot Gain 20% instead of Gray Gamma 2.2, so i changed it but the gray still gets printed as a green.
I really would appreciate any help!

    Martha:
Acrobat 9 installation is fraught with problems. All four writers who tried to install it at one customer location had problems getting the A'9 to work properly after installation -- and the problems were all slightly different.
And so too were the responses given by Adobe support. In one case A'Support recommended running a cleanup tool, in one case it insisted that the program should install with the same serial number as the Tech Comm Suite that putatively includes A'9, and in another case it simply "punted" and gave the I.T. folks a new, separate serial number to circumvent the otherwise unresolvable installation problems.
Apparently we can add sending people with A'9 problems to the FrameMaker forum to that list...
    Cheers & hope this helps,
    Riley

  • Win7 Pdf print with acrobat reader

I have a problem with the printer's list,
if install a printer... it does appear in the list.
if i change or remove a printer it disappear...
The problem is verified with acrobat 10 and 11, with the version 9 the printer's list is blank.
With acrobat reader 9 i can't print because "no printer is installed"...

Make sure you update to the lastest available version of Acrobat/Reader (these are two different things, by the way)... Only versions 9.2 or higher are compatible with Windows 7.

  • Document size error when printing with Acrobat XI Standard

    Hello,
I seem to be having a problem when I try to print to my Colorwave 600 plotter, using Acrobat XI Standard. I am trying to print a 36" wide document, but for some reason when the printer receives the information, it thinks I'm asking for a 42" wide print. The biggest paper the colorwave can use is 36", so this is problematic.
The sheet size in Acrobat is set correctly. The problem is only when the printer receives the information.
If I select "print as image" in advanced settings, it prints. I'm just confused why this would happen, and why printing as an image would work? I would prefer not to print as image as it makes the text in my files jagged.
I have tried wiping my print drivers and reinstalling, but this didn't help. Also, this problem only happens printing from a PC. It works fine if I print from a Mac.
    Any advice?

My workaround by using a virtual PDF printer isn't as good as I hoped. If the files generated by printing with flashplayer exceed about 3 pages the temp file generated in /var/spool/cups is so big that it exceeds my partitions size.
The file can get up to more than 1GB. With documents from one or two pages the temp file is about 500MB, the correct pdf gets generated after that and is placed under /var/spool/cups-pdf/<user> and is about 500kb small. The very big temp file get's deleted after that.
Why is this temp file so big and how can I avoid it getting so big?

  • Can't print with Acrobat 8--error number -31000

    Greetings,
I can only print a pdf every now and then with a HP Laserjet P2015dn printer using Acrobat 8--there is no pattern that I can detect for when it'll print and when it won't. When it doesn't print, I get the error message, "pstopdffilter/pstocupsraster failed with err number -31000" and then nothing happens.
Sometimes, the problem is fixed by re-installing Acrobat 8.
I just downloaded Acrobat Reader and it has printed pdf docs just fine.
I've asked HP for advice, but they were not at all helpful.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Rick

Adobe Software:     Adobe Reader X - Version 10.0.0

Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

Hello charlottedk, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having cartridge and printhead problems.  I would like to try and assist.
I would suggest performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on an 'Incompatible Print Cartridge' or 'Print Cartridge Problem' Message Displays on the Computer or P...

  • Scrolling table need a lot of memory ?

    Hi,
in my application I use a table to show some data acquisition result.
I've seen that if I use the scrollbar the PC uses a lot of memory to update the table.
Is it possible to set some property to update the table data just when I release the scrollbar?
I see that if I move the scrollbar when the program acquire data the PC (dual-core) uses 100% of one core and sometime I got timeout in the acquisition.
    Thanks a lot

How much data are you trying to display? 1M, 10M 100M pts?  you might want to display it in an array with the scroll bar turned on, you can make it look just like a table.  Tables ususally use strings and increase the ram required.  If you are using a huge data set you can not hold it all in memory at once and should purge the data to file as the data grows too large (RAM is a limited resource keep your data in ram to less than 10's of MB)  First thing move the daq out of the user interface, this should be in its own loop (see producer-consumer modes) your daq should never timeout.  I use in architecture with three loops for most of my daq with queued message passing, a GUI/event loop, a DAQ loop and a data processor/display loop.

  • FF 19 for Mac. changed preferences to open PDFs with Acrobat Reader. Now when I click on a pdf link, an about:blank FF window opens (pdf then opens)

The change in preferences opens the pdf appropriately with Acrobat Reader, as desired, but before it does, FF opens a brand new blank window (about:blank). How can that action be stopped?

Yes, I mean the eternal application.
Ctrl-click does open the dialog, but that does not cause new/blank FF window to show up.....however shift-click opens the new/blank window, then opens another FF window with a "New Tab" heading, then opens the pdf with Acrobat Reader.....
If open the dialog and select "open in new tab" (open in Acrobat Reader is not an option), a new tab is opened, and the the pdf come up in Reader (without opening a new FF window). In earlier FF, it just opened directly in Reader (or acrobat) without opening a new tab or window.
    Thanks

  • No PDF-printer with Acrobat 8 on Win 7

    Hi there,
hope someone can help me. I was looking through several forums, but couldn't find an answer:
I have installed CS 3 on Win 7 professional 32 bit. All the software works (photoshop, dreamweaver, etc.) except Acrobat 8. I can open pdf-files  but I can't create them, because there is no PDF-printer installed! Does anybody know why and how I can solve this problem?
I thought about using the Virtual PC XP mode, but I don't think that I can print PDF-files under Win 7 on a virtual XP-mode PDF-printer. Has anybody got experience?
    Thanks a lot

  • Issue printing with Acrobat Reader 9.4.2

    Hi
I am having a problem when printing some files. The fonts are not the same as in the screen. The strange is that when i am sending the printing from the desktops everything is fine but from the laptops the fonts are incomprehensible in the paper. All the machines are Dell, the laptops are Latitude E6410 and the desktops are Optiplex 745. All the computers have the same configuration.
    I also tested:
Different Printers (HP) the default printers in the company are Sharp
         Different Drivers of the printers
All the Versions of Acrobat Reader
         Print as Image
but still no luck when printing from laptop
With Foxit reader i don't have any issue when printing from laptop
    Please advise
    Thanks

    Hey David,
Yeah, I also found the .3 update to much joy the other day, but I fairly quickly arrived at the same conclusion as you   However our company has filed a support ticket with Adobe Developer Support describing the error. Also I set up a simple test-page that hopefully will expose the error for the Adobe staff.
