Printing with HP Deskjet 5552 under Lion

Since upgrading to Lion I have been unable to print using my HP Deskjet 5552.  THe HP website advised resetting the print system and downloading new drivers.  I have done this and the drivers are in my downloads folder with file name hewlettpackardprinterdrivers2.7.2.dmg.downloads. This is not recognised by Installer.
What do I need to do to install the drivers, and is it likely to resolve the problem?

The Mac version of the  Linux HPIJS drivers worked for me on Mac OSX 10.7.2 Lion with my HP Deskjet 5552.
I installed the following:
hpijs-3.10.6.dmg
foomatic-rip-4.0.6.230.dmg
gplgs-8.71.dmg
And then the printer was detected when I went to set it up
(Just copying my post from the HP forum for you in case it helps.)
Cheers, Dave.

  • Two-sided printing with HP deskjet 1050A?

    Hi,
How to complete two-sided printing with HP deskjet 1050A? I looked through the properties / options menu at print preview but no options were available for this function.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hello,
You should be able to print on two sides using this method for your product:
NOTE:You can print your document on both sides of the paper, instead of just one side. Click on the Advanced button on the Paper/Quality or Layout tab. From the Pages to Print drop-down menu select Print Odd Pages Only . Click OK to print. After the odd numbered pages of the document have been printed, remove the document from the output tray. Reload the paper in the input tray with the blank side facing up. Return to the Pages to Print drop-down menu and then select Print Even Pages Only . Click OK to print.

  • How to print with HP Deskjet 2510 with Imac G5 on Tiger ?

    Hi Folks
I desperately need some helping hand....
Today my old trusty printer died (HP 1510 print/scan/ copy) and I ran to buy another one because I need to finish some tax paperwork.
In a mad hurry, I didn't pay any attention to tech specs and I went home with brand new HP DeskJet 2510 All In One device. But !!! : ((
In my home office I still use Imac G5 with 10.4.11 which is still pretty good comp for office work but I found out that the HP 2510 don't officially support my Imac with Tiger. Only from 10.6 and later.... I know that Imac G5 can't run nothing above 10.5.
So, is there any way to "force" HP 2510 to somehow recognize my Imac G5? In "about my mac" on USB port, the HP 2510 is visible ....
    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Sven

So, is there any way to "force" HP 2510 to somehow recognize my Imac G5?
You may be able to get it to print with something like this:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
although i do not see taht modle on the "Supported Printers" page. You might look again.
BUT that workabout does not support scanning, only printing.
I think you need to return the printer and look to either Canon or Brother. Brother especially has been better about suporting older Mac OS versions but you'll still need to get a model number and search the maker's site BEFORE buying to see if they show older drivers for download.

  • Thanks to hplip changes, I can no longer print with my Deskjet F4140..

Hi. Ever since the upgrade of hplip, I've been unable to print. I searched the forums already and have removed hplip's entry from etc/rc.conf, as well as uninstalling the package. CUPS is up to date, but when I went through the "Add Printer" process, I couldn't figure out what the IP of my printer was. I clicked on the Network Printer link, but it didn't really offer any solid help. How am I supposed to figure out the IP address of something that's connected through USB?
The error I received before I removed the printer through CUPS basically told me that the device wasn't connected and it would retry in 30 seconds. I checked the connection myself (USB) and it was fine.

  • HT2506 Is there anyone else who is having problems printing with Preview since upgrading to Lion OS X?

Since upgrading to Lion OS X, I have not been able to print any of my documents that were created in Adobe PDF.  All calls to customer support have been a bust.
When I try to print anything it comes out looking like this:

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, selectHelp from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Did all of that yesterday, with the Apple Representative on the phone, and nope, still a problem...it was kind of exciting, really, they kept going up and up the tiers of support until I got disconnected...Fortunately I had the email address of the gentleman who was helping me so that I could email him back and let him know that we got disconnected...as you might imagine, he still has not emailed me back.  They were able to receive a copy of the form that I use for charting and try it in their facility on their computers, so we know:
1- it is not just my computer.
2- it occurred only after installing Lion OS X, not sure if they have tried it on Snow Leopard, but that's what I would have done if I was them...assuming that somewhere in Apple someone has not upgraded to Lion.
3- it is not just my software.
I think the problem is with the newer iteration of Preview  not communicating well with the Adobe .pdf.  probably some line of coding that needs to be written and insertedinto their program for multiline text.
:-)  Thank you for your help!

  • Problems printing with hp deskjet 4260

hardware: macs with either 10.4 and 10,5, hp deskjet 4260 usb, printer software 9.7.1 (latest)
hi, we have several mac under 10,4 and 10.5 printing on a hp deskjet 4260. none of them gives any trouble except one g4 with two internal drives. one drive no problems again but from the other drive i get following result.
    1) print job is started and ends
    2) printer starts printing but only in a about 25 size format (100% is checked) and stops after a few lines.
    3) green light starts blinking and only stops after restart of computer
    4) paper with few lines comes out of the printer
i reinstalled printer drivers, repaired permissions, deleted caches, checked and compared size of hp folders with other internal drive. after reboot to second internal drive all prints well
    any idea ?
    tia

thank you so much, you saved me a lot of trouble.
I really did almost everything except resetting the printing system; (never saw the menu item) working with apple since 1986 you have learned me a new trick !!!
below were created (after reset) so perhaps they caused the misprinting ?
    com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist
    com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
    com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist

  • Is it still impossible to run a GTX 570 with a Mac Pro under Lion

I have the GTX 285 Mac Edition and it's running fine.
Anyway, meanwhile I'm searching for a more powerful graphic card, e.g. the GTX 570.
The premise is, that it will run with Lion and bootcamp Win7 ... without, or very less, hackintosh steps.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Everything could be helpful.
    Thx in advance and Greetz

    Hey Bob,
Thanks for the information. My last experience was with VMWare 1 and I don't think this functionality was available then. I downloaded today version 4 and at this point I am running Win 7 within MacOS.  Haven't tried rebooting to my bootcamp partition yet or printing or sharing, etc. If it works as advertised though I should be a happy camper.
The import option doesn't strike me as a good one for my situation.  I have 500GB on my MBP and 120 GB allocated to my windows bootcamp partition. If I do the import option with VMWare I'd basically need another 120 GB of the total space and then I'd have two unsynchronized windows disks, one under bootcamp and the other under VMWare.
Running VMWare as a Mac application I can see it's a bit slower than running in bootcamp, but I expected that.
This is exciting stuff and I appreciate you taking the time to enlighten me.
    Thanks

  • Printing with HP Deskjet printer

I have a HP Deskjet 812C printer, and I have connected it to my brand new MacBook. Everytime I try to print a document, it comes out with half of each line printed then shoots out about five extra pages with a little bit of printing on them.
This printer worked fine for years with my iBook. I have never had this much trouble printing - anywhere. Heck, I could l print from my old iBook to my crappy Dell printer at work when the school's Dell laptop didn't even have the correct drivers to print on the Dell Printers, so this really gets me mad.
I tried deleting the printer and setting up the printer again with the Printer Set Up Utility. No go. I checked all of my settings. No go.
I have trouble printing from any application not just MSWord, so go figure.
Is it a problem with the drivers that came with this new machine?
    Help, someone please!!!!!!

I checked for a hp driver and the only one is this one http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=dj-13823-4 &lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=58152&os=219&lang=en
have a look at that and try that driver for osx and hopefully it works.

  • Cannot print with Lexmark 7600 after installing Lion

Since installing Lion I haven't been abe to print.  I use a Lexmark 7600 series.  I reinstalled the printer a couple of times and I just downloaded the latest software update for the printer.  The printer installs and I can see it in my system preferences but nothing happens when I click the print button.  Not even an error message.  I have tried both wirelessly and plugging in to the phisical printer.  My other computer with Snow Leopard still prints without problems.

    plane sailor wrote:
Tried all that and some but still can't get the lexmark to print. Guess I'll have to speak direct to Lexmark and ask them when their new drivers will be available.
We had similar problems with a Brothers printer just today.  I suspected the driver was faulty but had the same results after a fresh software download from Apple, and one from Brothers web site.  I print using a USB cable to my mac and my wife, who is running SL, prints wirelessly through my mac.  We switched the cable to her mac, thinking this was a Lion problem, but had the exact same problem you describe above.  A call to Brothers coached me through my System Preferences>Print & Scan> to select each printer in the "Printers" window and remove by clicking the "-" symbol.  Then click "+" symbol and select the correct driver.  Then select that printer as the "Default printer" in the lower dialog window.
    Hope it works for you.

  • Trouble printing with HP DeskJet 5850

I am having a strange printing problem on my HP DeskJet 5850. When we print something, the last page comes out and then maybe the top 1/4 of the next page and then stops. The print monitor then shows an exclamation mark icon and the says that "Jobs Stopped". I can click to "Start Jobs" button and then the entire print job comes out normally.
I have removed the printer and re-added it and it is still doing the same thing. I'm assuming it's a printer driver problem.
When I got the computer, I downloaded the driver from HP. It's version 2.7.1 (I think). It wasn't until later that I noticed that updated drivers came with 10.4.4 (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303057). It says that there is version 3.3 for my printer. However, I don't know how to update the driver to this new version. Plus, if I use the drop down menu to tell it which driver to use, I don't actually see HP DeskJet 5850 listed.
How do I update the driver to this new 3.3 version? And why is it listed in the Apple document but I don't see it listed in the drop down list?

It's not a network printer. It is connected directly to my Mac via USB.
The funny thing is that if I print from Windows XP -> Mac -> printer, then no problem on same document where the problem occurs on my Mac. Therefore, must be a driver problem, or at least something on the Mac.
So, my printer doesn't have an IP address. Any other suggestions that I should try out?

Okidata USA support told me there was no driver available at this time to use my C5400 with my Mac that is using Lion.

The driver was found at Okidata, Bulgaria at the following URL:
