Printing With HP LaserJet 1022 Has Stopped!

Hi All,
I have had my Express and HP printer for a year never had any problems, my configuration is this. My AirPort Express connects to my wireless NETGEAR router, my HP is plugged into the AirPort Express. Yesterday I changed the password on the router and had to reconfigure the AirPort since then all **** has broken lose... I just cannot print, the printer can't be found or added! How is this even possible, if nothing has changed and it was all working before!? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

HP has simply abandoned the 1022 printer on Snow Leopard. For a time there was a HP software engineer posting here, gathering information from users, advising us that they were working on the 1022 driver. He even sent a beta driver to several people with specific problems. Then he suddenly disappeared and we haven't seen or heard from him since. My 1022 works fine with the Snow Leopard supplied driver, except for the manual duplex option which no longer exists. Others report that their 1022 only prints every other page or stops after a couple of pages. There is a very long thread here about the 1022 problems. The HP guy's name was Andrew but, as I said, he vanished. 1022 owners were starting to get testy and frustrated so maybe he just got tired of trying to help.
As for me, I will never buy an HP printer again because of this abandonment.

  • Cannot print with HP Laserjet 1022 when connected with USB to Time Capsule

    Installed HP drivers
Connected HP 1022 (not the network printer) with USB to Time Capsule
Printer appears in "Standard" section of printers, marked with Bonjour
    Correct driver is selected
When printing, printer appears to be connected. Printer queue shows the item being managed and no errors are posted. After a rather long time, the print disappears into the void. This goes for the test page too.
Connected the printer directly to my iMac with USB, no problems at all.
I would prefer to have it connected to the Time Capsule though...

Getting it to work with Windows is super-easy. You'll need to install the printer's drivers and Bonjour for Windows ( http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/windows/bonjourforwindows.html ). Install both of those, open Bonjour, select the printer, done.
I have no experience with Linux, sorry.

  • Printing interrupted (with HP LaserJet 1022)

    Hello,
I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Since doing so, my printer (a HP LaserJet 1022, bought with my Mac from Apple) has been working only intermittently.
If I print a document, from any application, of more than one page, it'll only print the odd pages and will stop some way through printing those odd pages and the lights on the top of the printer will start flashing red. (I have checked the settings and they're set to print all pages, not just the odd ones.) The only way to move on is to switch the printer off and on again.
This means that 1) I can only print one page at a time and 2) that every few pages or so, I have to switch the printer off and back on.
Does anyone know what's going wrong or what I can do to fix the problem? I thought the SL installer updated my printer driver.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
    Jonathan.

  • Can not print with HP LaserJet 6L since the upgrade to Mavericks.

Can not print with HP LaserJet 6L since the upgrade to Mavericks. Any alternative driver for this printer?

I have an HP LaserJet 5P and had the same problem. My LaserJet is connected to a D-Link ethernet print server, then to an Airport Express to support wireless printing.
As recommended in earlier posts, I first downloaded the Gutenprint HP drivers at Sourceforge, version 5.2.9 That did not work. Then found the reference to the Apple kb here: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl907
Downloaded these drivers. When setting up the printer, I got the autoselect option for Generic Postscript Printer and used that. Printer worked, but printed out garbage. I then deleted the printer, and this time selected the HP LaserJet 5P CUPS + Gutenprint v.5.2.9 THAT WORKED! I don't know if was the combination of downloading the drivers from Sourceforge and the Apple kb, or just the Apple kb that solved the problem, but I'm glad this is now sorted.
I was a bit surprised when I hit this snag to begin with because the last upgrade I did from Lion to Mountain Lion, I did not have this issue. It was seamless.

    Hey Todd Rubenson,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes for Windows unexpectedly quitting. The following resource may provide a solution:

  • Printing Problem with HP LaserJet 1022 and OS 10.4

I am having a problem printing one page of a document on my HP LaserJet 1022 with OS 10.4. All other documents seem to be printing fine, but when I try to print one particular page of a 90 page WORD doc, that page consistently comes out with a big black streak across it and it does something to the printer because all the lights start flashing.
I have powered off, unplugged, reset the printer subsystem, reinstalled the printer driver, and even tried to print on my laptop, and the same thing keeps happening. The document printed for me fine a few weeks ago.
Any suggestions on a work-around for this or a permanent solution? I really need to print this page on my printer ASAP. Thank you.

The page looks perfect in preview and as a PDF. I can't print from the PDF, however, because it shrinks the text and expands the margins ...
Something's fishy. Save as PDF should result a file that looks exactly, precisely, like what you'd get if you printed directly to your printer.
I suspect your Word document has been corrupted by a few bytes of random data that is causing your printer to go nuts. Try cutting that portion out of the document, and pasting it in a new blank document so you can incrementally isolate the damage.
This isn't going to be as easy as it sounds, because when the PostScript printer driver encounters the errant code in the Word document, it's essentially telling the printer "now, go to the top of this page, print a nasty black smudge, and then crash." You might have to cut a whole page before and after the suspected corruption. If you're lucky you might be able to cut the portion then paste it right back as "unformatted text". Try that.

We should all be so fortunate. Word does use the standard OS X Print dialog though.

  • Print with HP laserjet CP 1025 color and Mac Lion 10.7.3

I have an HP laserjet CP1025 color and I am trying to print with Mac Book Pro 10.7.3. I updated the printer firmware to LJCP1020_FWupdate and also update my laptop with HPPrintersDrivers2.8
Still I dont know how to print. The printer doesnot appear anywhere. Is it possible to print or do I need to change the printer?, which is the next step?

Well berti, depending on your needs and what you are trying to accompish, take a look at this article:

  • Netbook wireless printing to HP LaserJet 1022

I have a HP LaserJet 1022 connected (USB port) to desktop computer running Windows XP pro and it is working ok.  I also have a laptop also running XP that I can print from using a local network with a rooter.  Just bought an ASUS netbook 1201N the uses the same network with a wireless connection.   My problem is the netbook will not print to the LaserJet even tho it shows up as a printer.  The error message I get is “Error 0x000006ba”.  Have tried several things suggested on the web.  Need help!
    Thanks, RB Curry

The Sharing is through Microsoft and not an HP function.  This particular configuration where you are shared on XP USB and wired to a router, then trying to connect via a wireless laptop is not an HP supported configuration.
You can try to add the printer local - Devices & Printers, Add Printer, and choose a local printer then add the shared name (if it is listed).
As stated, this is not a supported scenerio, but that is not to say that it is not possible.

  • Printing with HP Laserjet 5L

Cannot print more than 1 time with HP Laserjet 5L unless I reboot machine (which is very inconvenient). Additional print job(s) will queue up but will take forever to spool and eventually after about 30 minutes it quits trying.
I know printer is old - but it works fine (on my old PC...)
Using printer cable (not USB port).
Print driver being used is HP Laserjet 5L - Gutenprinting 5.2.3
It appears on the HP site that there isn't a driver for this for mac's.
Just installed Snow Leopard (but same problem existed in 10.5)... was hoping the update might miraculously fix - haha.
Any suggestions?? Thanks VERY MUCH in advance for any and all help.

There is no Apple Macintosh Computer with a Parallel Printer Port.
So you either use a USB-to-Centronics-parallel-printer-cable or you don't actually have an Apple computer.
If you use the adapter cable it would help to know which one (vendor, name of the cable).
My father is using such cable to connect the Laserjet 6L (almost identical to your 5L) with his iMac 20" 2,66 1066 running Snow Leopard 10.6.2
Try deleting the printer from the systems settings printer page. Restart the computer. Re-install the printer connected to the IEEE 1284-port (the cable should be autodetected by MacOS).
Try sending small amount of pages. The printers memory is very limited and MacOS send highdef printing data ...

  • Problems printing with HP laserjet 1018

I'm using the hplip package. CUPS sees the printer, but I can't print diddley. I followed the wiki word for word and have googled extensively but I can't seem to figure it out. I tried printing as root, and as my user, and I am in the lp group but to no avail.
All that happens when I try to print is it says the jobs are all pending. Occasionally I get the error
    "/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip-hplip failed"
I also tried the foo2zjs with similar results. But with the foo2zjs driver it simply says all my jobs are complete, rather than pending.
I've also tried the hp-toolbox program that comes with hplip, it can get the printer to move!, but it still won't print anything.
    Thanks for the help.

Read wiki, please. It would be helpful http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cups
    Maybe this is solution
A HPLIP printer sends "/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp failed" error
Make sure dbus is installed and running, e.g. check DAEMONS in /etc/rc.conf or run ls /var/run/daemons.
hp-toolbox sends an error, "Unable to communicate with device"
If running hp-toolbox as a regular user results in:
    # hp-toolbox
    # error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/<your printer id>
or, "Unable to communicate with device"", then you may have to add yourself to the lp group by running the following command:
    # gpasswd -a <username> lp
CUPS returns '"foomatic-rip" not available/stopped with status 3' with a HP printer
If you receive any of the following error messages in /var/log/cups/error_log while using a HP printer, with jobs appearing to be processed while they all end up not being completed with their status set to 'stopped':
Filter "foomatic-rip" for printer "<printer_name>" not available: No such file or director
    or:
    PID 5771 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) stopped with status 3!
make sure you have hplip installed, in addition to the packages mentioned above, net-snmp is also needed. See: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65615
    # pacman -S hplip

  • Networking printer with HP Laserjet and Linksys wired print server

I have an older Laserjet 4 Plus that is networked via a Linksys 3-port wired print server.
My Windows-based PCs print to it fine but I can't print with my iMac. It gets there but gets an error at the printer and never prints.
I'm new to the Mac world as of 6/16 so am still learning.
    Thanks for the help.

Paul, I am amazed you were ever able to print via the Linksys wireless server on your mac. I have the identical router and print server, and only the Windows PC's on my wireless network have been able to share the printer on that wireless server. I've been unable to find a driver for my iMac, and could never get the iMac to find the server. Finally gave up and bought an HP 2600n color laser and connected it directly to the iMac via USB. You're right about lack of help from Linksys. There is an Apple folder under "unsupported" on the print server installation CD, but there's nothing helpful in there.

  • Can not Print with HP LaserJet 5000 and Epson AcuLaser C9100

I am using MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 with Mac OS X (10.6.6)
I already install the latest print driver from the Apple Software Update website.
The driver for HP is Ver. 17.5 & for Epson is Ver. 5.2
I connect two of the printer to my Belkin Surf N300 wireless N Router with ethernet cable.
The error when print to HP LaserJet 5000 is as follow:-
Unable to get printer status (Not Implemented)!
Network host 'x.x.x.x' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds...
This error can stay forever if I do not delete the print job
The error when print to Epson AcuLaser C9100 is as follow:-
    Printer not responding
This error can stay forever if I do not delete the print job
Previously I can print with my emac with OS X 10.4.10, but now I can not print with 2 of my printer.
My 2 printer are in good condition, so this is not the printer problem.
Please, do anyone know how to fix this problem fast, because I need to use this two printer for my business.
    Thanks in advance.

That is not what Greg needs to know. That is just the way that the IP addresses are assigned to the printers.
Your problem is probably that the printers were probably originally found by AppleTalk. AppleTalk is not included in Snow Leopard. If the printers support Bonjour, they should be found that way. Otherwise, you have to use other methods.
How did you add your printers on the new computer? If you delete them from Print & Fax, how would you add them again?
