Printing with Syclo Client

Hi all,
I need to print a form with Syclo in offline mode simulating the SAP Print functionalities.
How can I do that? Which kind of tools do I need?
I'm thinking about a tool to create a predefined form where I put the info coming from Syclo.
Cheers
-- Marco

Hi Marco,
Which Agentry application and version are you working with?  If you have installed your Agentry app in SMP, please specify which version of SMP you are working with.  SMP is not the Syclo Agentry platform.  It is the SAP Mobile Platform which is a child of the former SUP (Sybase Unified Platform).
If you are not working with SMP installed Agentry apps, then you would probably be better served putting your discussion in SAP for Mobile.

    tarantella native client don`t printing with printer usb

    agreed with Wai on upgrading. The first test should be outside of SGD . . . does UNIX print to that USB printer? If not then chances are Tarantella 3.30 will not. If you upgrade to 4.31 you will need to first upgrade to 3.42 then to 4.20 before upgrading to 4.31. Under 4.31 we support PDF printing from UNIX servers. With PDF printing you should have no problem printing to a USB printer.

    The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
    Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
    Read up the issue.
    http://stevejenkins.com/blog/2010/01/using-the-local-default-gateway-with-a-wind ows-vpn-connection/
    Cisco vpn client..
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/239113
    I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
    The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
    It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
    Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.

    If you offer a PDF to the end user, they usually know what to do with it. OTOH, if you wish to provide software to facilitate the local printing, you might launch an application on the client side that accesses the JNLP API's PrintService - that can be done in a sandboxed application.
    A signed application might access the normal J2SE based print services. Though I heard that Sun had decided to make printing a 'prompt on first attempt' deal - even for sandboxed apps., from 1.5 plus (or was it 1.6 plus?).
    It would be a serious security bug if a web site could print on the client printer, without trust or active involvement from the end user.

  • Print report to client printer from forms

    Hi,
    I need to print a report directly to a client printer.
    There is a utility called ORARRP - Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility.
    But the document I saw was from Oct 2001 - so is this still the only and best option ?
    I'm using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT in forms to launch the report.
    This works fine when the DESTYPE is FILE and DESNAME = PDF
    The PDF-outputt is then successfully shown with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
    When changing DESTYPE to PRINTER and DESNAME to clients printername then report won't run. "Report filed with error message TERMINATED_WITH_ ERROR".
    Is it possible to print directly to a client printer using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT ?
    (Our client printers are not networkprinters)
    Environment:
    Forms [32 Bit] version 9.0.4.0.19
    Report Builder 9.0.4.0.33
    Reportsserver on linux
    Thanks !
    Sam

    (Our client printers are not networkprinters)This means you cannot print from the server directly on the client printer with destype=printer, since the server cannot see the printer.
    So, a manual print command by the user from the browser or the orarrp utility are your options.

  • Print Reports on Client Default Printer

    Hi All,
    I am using  Oracle Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.2.0).
    I want to print oracle reports from ADF which is JEE base framework on client default printer. I am send just plane url to generate report to report server. In Oracle forms we have option to get job id of report, but in plain url i am not seeing any thing like that. In forms in am generating PDF wait untill job is finished and then send pdf to client printer by using job id.
    How it will be possible by using plain URL send to report server or any other idea to achieve this task.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Printing documents on client instead of server

    Hello,
    I am using a piece of code which prints a document when a user requests a page on its browser. The only problem is that the document is printed on the server instead of the clients default printer. The printer on the current client (the testing machine in my case) is a network printer.
    Here is the code
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.font.*;
    import java.awt.geom.*;
    import java.awt.print.*;
    import java.text.*;
    public class PrintDocument implements Printable
         private static final String mText =
         "Print this"
         + "And this as well ";
         private static final AttributedString mStyledText = new AttributedString(mText);
         static public void main()
              PrinterJob printerJob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
              Book book = new Book();
              book.append(new PrintDocument(), new PageFormat());
              printerJob.setPageable(book);
              boolean doPrint = printerJob.printDialog();
              if (doPrint)
                   try
                        printerJob.print();
                   catch (PrinterException exception)
                        System.err.println("Printing error: " + exception);
         public int print(Graphics g, PageFormat format, int pageIndex)
              Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) g;
              g2d.translate(format.getImageableX(), format.getImageableY());
              g2d.setPaint(Color.black);
              Point2D.Float pen = new Point2D.Float();
              AttributedCharacterIterator charIterator = mStyledText.getIterator();
              LineBreakMeasurer measurer = new LineBreakMeasurer(charIterator, g2d.getFontRenderContext());
              float wrappingWidth = (float) format.getImageableWidth();
              while (measurer.getPosition() < charIterator.getEndIndex())
                   TextLayout layout = measurer.nextLayout(wrappingWidth);
                   pen.y += layout.getAscent();
                   float dx = layout.isLeftToRight()? 0 : (wrappingWidth - layout.getAdvance());
                   layout.draw(g2d, pen.x + dx, pen.y);
                   pen.y += layout.getDescent() + layout.getLeading();
              return Printable.PAGE_EXISTS;
    }As you can see, I have not set any properties of the document to be printed on the clients default printer. How do I do this? Note that my server has NO printer installed. Do I need to share the clients default printer? Etc
    Thanks in advance

    I can't think of any way to make the client side print
    something just from your server side request.If there was a way for the server to automatically print something on the client's printer, you can be sure that those websites that spam you with popup windows would already be doing it. But they aren't, which leads me to believe it can't be done.
    Maybe you can put a the template in a HTML file, put a
    reference to it in a teeny-weeny FRAME or IFRAME in
    the HTML of your JSP code. The HTML file with the
    "template" could have that "window.print()"-thing in
    the "onLoad"-event handler of the body-tag of that
    document (or what ever, I'm not a JS expert)The solution is going to be something that is done at the client side, and that would be something like a button that executes some Javascript code, as you say. I'm not a JS expert either.

  • Trouble printing with my HP Deskjet printer using CUPS and hplip

    tl;dr This 1,646 word post describes my frustration with CUPS and hplip. I cannot get my HP Deskjet F4400 set up with CUPS, and all the solutions I've tried don't work.
    I'm running Arch Linux ARM on my Seagate DockStar, a small ARM-based "plug computer" that I use as a home server. My printer is the HP Deskjet F4480, which is part of the HP Deskjet F4400 series.
    I previously had CUPS set up to share my printer with my home network, using hplip for the printer driver. I never upgraded CUPS or hplip because those versions worked fine, and I didn't want to break anything avoid breaking anything. The versions that I was using had to have been at least one to two years old.
    Everything was working very smoothly... until a few days ago. The drive I was running Arch Linux ARM on became corrupt, so I had to install a fresh copy of the operating system. That meant losing all of the working versions and configuration files each application I had installed, including CUPS. I thought I had a backup image of the drive, but it didn't work when I tried to restore it. (Yes, it was stupid of me not to test my backup.)
    Setting up CUPS was one of the first things that I wanted to do after reinstalling, since my family depends on the network printing functionality almost daily. Unfortunately, I could not get CUPS to work with my printer correctly. It wouldn't be able to display a list of drivers, HP's setup utility encountered an error adding it, and it threw various errors when I tried to print test pages. I ended up reading hundreds of forum posts, wiki articles, and CUPS/hplip tutorials to try to figure out how to properly set it up. I ended up spending a total of nearly ten hours trying to get the printer to print with CUPS, and it's still not working after all that work.
    I'm going to explain in this post some of the many things that I've tried so far. I just removed all of the printing packages from my system and any extra files that were left behind. I'm now going to be installing all of the packages again and documenting everything that I have been trying to do to get it to work. I'll try to include exact error messages and logs where necessary.
    1. I first found this article on the Arch Linux ARM website on how to set up a CUPS printer. I didn't really want to use webmin, but I did it anyway so that I could follow the guide. I installed all the packages mentioned except for cups-pdf, since I didn't need print to PDF support. Everything installed smoothly, and I configured CUPS and webmin to allow access to other computers on the network. I started to notice problems in the instructions - /etc/rc.d/cups was actually /etc/rc.d/cupsd, /etc/printers.conf was actually /etc/cups/printers.conf, and webmin didn't actually add anything to the printers.conf file. I uninstalled webmin at this point because I didn't need it, and I decided I wasn't going to follow that guide with incorrect information.
    2. I then tried to set up the printer on my own using the CUPS web interface listening on port 631. I clicked the Add Printer button and it switched me to the HTTPS web interface. I then logged into the root account and was presented with the list of printers. My printer was listed as "HP Deskjet F4400 series (HP Deskjet F4400 series)", so I selected it and continued. I saw a list of printer models (PPD files) ending in CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9. There was no entry for my printer, so I tried the "HP DeskJet Series (en)" one. I set the default options and chose Maintenaince->Print test page. I then got a ridiculously simple error: "Unable to print test page: No such file or directory". How do I even know what file or directory it's referencing? I read online that it may be because I'm not in the lp group, but root is indeed in there. I saw in the error log "Avahi client failed: -26". I started dbus and avahi-daemon just in case, but I still got that silly error. I restarted cups and the same error message occured.
    3. I researched online that pretty much the only way for my printer to have a driver would be to install hplip. Before installing hplip, I uninstalled CUPS, leaving cupsd.conf but deleting printers.conf. Then I installed CUPS and hplip together, with hplip requiring foomatic-db, foomatic-db-engine, and foomatic-filters. Everything seemed to install correctly. I started CUPS again and then ran hp-setup -i to try to install my printer. I selected USB and it found my printer, hp:/usb/Deskjet_F4400_series?serial=[printer serial number here]. I entered a simple name and then was told that no PPD file was found for the printer but that I could specify one manually. There were none I could find online; everywhere it just said to install hplip. I used the find command to find "f4400" and finally found 2 compressed PPDs located at /usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-deskjet_f4400_series-hpijs.ppd.gz and /usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-deskjet_f4400_series.ppd.gz. I gunzipped both of them and pointed hpsetup to the hpijs one, knowing that I was using the hpijs one when it was working before. It told me "Description for the file: HP Deskjet f4400 Series hpijs, 3.12.6". Hooray! I selected to use it, but then setup failed: "error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again." Ugh!
    4. I restarted CUPS and went into the hp-setup process again. It gave me the same printer queue setup failed error. I don't know if these entries in the CUPS error log are related or not, but these errors relating to foomatic showed up. I restarted CUPS again and this time used the non-hpijs file with hp-setup. This one was called "Description for the file: HP Deskjet f4400 Series, hpcups 3.12.6". It failed again with the same error and the same entries in the error log. I found lots of posts online about this error, but none seemed to have a solution that would work for me. Now I tried running hp-setup in debug mode with -g. Here is what it said before the error. I then tried to Google "debug: addPrinter() returned (0, Unable to connect to CUPS server)". I saw on an Arch bug report to install dbus-python and python2-gobject, as well as create a symlink for /usr/bin/python2 to /usr/bin/python. It didn't work - same error.
    5. I then tried to add the printer to CUPS via its web interface. Now there were two listed,  HP Deskjet F4400 series (HP Deskjet F4400 series) and HP Deskjet F4400 series USB [printer serial number here] HPLIP (HP Deskjet F4400 series). So, hplip added the second one. I tried both of them, but after clicking Continue the page started to hang. I got another stupid, undescriptive error. "Unable to get list of printer drivers: Success". I saw the same foomatic errors in the error log as before. I then started reading the ArchWiki page on CUPS, located here. I tried the blacklisting usblp. I tried changing the permissions on the device node, although this starts to become ridiculous that it is even required to do that. Nothing was working; the printer installation still didn't work with hp-setup or with CUPS. Then, I found what I was looking for: the exact error I had on the wiki page! It said for "Unable to get list of printer drivers" you should "Try to remove Foomatic drivers." WTF? Foomatic is required for hplip, and hplip is required for my printer. I can't do that. Forum posts say to try that or do the permissions or usblp thing. Nothing is working.
    6. I tried various other things to get it to work, even though I knew they probably wouldn't make it any different. I copied the PPDs from hplip to another folder and uninstalled hplip and foomatic. I then added them to /usr/share/cups/model and CUPS successfully found them and set up the printer. I reinstalled hplip and foomatic since they're needed for those PPDs to function, and I tried printing a test page. It failed. I tried using the CUPS web interface to modify the printer driver; nope, that wasn't going to happen: "Unable to get list of printer drivers: Success".
    That concludes the list of some of the things that I have tried so far. I really want to get this printer working, but right now I am really fed up with CUPS and hplip. It's things like this that make me hesitant to recommend Linux to anyone else. So much manual configuration and tinkering the inner workings of things is required to do tasks that would be quite simple on Windows. For example, I can plug this printer into my Windows 7 machine right now, wait for the driver to automatically be installed and configured, and have a test page in my hands less than a minute after I first plugged in the USB cable. I can share the printer with any other Windows machine on the network by checking a single checkbox.
    But back to my problem with getting the printer to work on my DockStar. I just uninstalled all of CUPS, hplip, and foomatic again and removed all of their files. I can walk through things to try that you guys post and then give you full logs of everything - just give me exactly what to do and install and the exact order to do it all in. I just don't know what to do at this point and am so frustrated with this that I'm about to give up.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this printer working? I know this was a very long post, but I just wanted to explain everything that I've tried and how nothing worked. I really hope that we can figure this out so that I'll be able to print, and maybe it'll solve a few other people's problems with their printers, too. Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for the help.

    Had similar issue with my HP Deskjet F4500C All in one printer, here's what I did:
    make sure these packages are installed or install them
    pacman -S cups cups-pdf hplip pyqt3 python2-pyqt
    pacman -S system-config-printer-gnome
    rc.d cups start
    To add device and install hp driver:
    1. Run ‘hp-setup’ as root.
    2. Click ‘Show Advanced Options’ button and check-enable ‘Manual Discovery’.
    3. Enter IP address 192.168.59.63 in the ‘…device ID…’ entry and click ‘Next’ to install driver.
    run system-config-printer as root, to add printer
    # system-config-printer
    click “Add”, Select Device -> Network Printer -> input the IP address of the printer such as “192.168.1.3″, click “Find” -> “Process”
    you should be ok from here, if not some further steps:
    If you encounter the following error:
    File “/usr/share/system-config-printer/newprinter.py”, line 1531, in getNetworkPrinterMakeModel
    debugprint (host + “: ” + args)
    TypeError: cannot concatenate ‘str’ and ‘list’ objects
    You should comment out the error line at 1531 of newprinter.py, and then continue to add the printer.
    4). Finally, you can run hp-check to see what problems exists for the printer.

  • Problem with Updating clients with UNIX command

    Hi.
    Until this day, I used to update all our 50 client macs by manually logging in as administrator via ARD and choosing Software Update from the apple menu, this works always and I use our own servers SUS so the downloading is really fast. Still, this clearly is time consuming and annoying when you have this many clients. I have now done some search and I know I could do this by sending unix command to clients using ARD. First I had problems with running the command, then I noticed I need to run this as root. Then it "works".
    Works, not quite. It starts to run, and I can see all the output. I have tried this with few clients and the results are confusing. The following is an output from one client I send the command "softwareupdate -i -r"

    Registering updated components…
    And thats it, it stops there. Few clients completed the task, but the output says that they skipped the installation of all updates. In the case above, there is some skipping too, and I don't know what it means. Yesterday I left one client to this part where its Registering updated components.... , and today when I came in, it's still there, and the task is still running. When I update the clients with the Software Update from apple menu, it takes usually 10 minutes max to complete the whole process, download and install. After I restarted the same client and ran the manual Software Update from apple menu, it shows the same updates, it didn't do anything???
    Am I doing something wrong with the command?

    I am having the same issue. I send the unix command to some test clients to install all updates. The process never finishes and stays at "Registering updated companents....". (See screen shot)
    I have manually restarted some of the clients after waiting a very long time. All updates seem to have been installed. I am wondering why the task hangs at this point. I want to be able to ran ASU with this Unix method on the 450+ macs that I manage at work, but it scares me that the task never seems to finish.

  • How do I get the layout guides (A,B,C column headers and 1,2,3 Row Headers) to print with my spreadsheet?

    How do I get the Layout Guides (A,B,C column headers and 1,2,3 Row Headers) to print on my spreadsheet? They are invaluable for discussing the data with my clients over the phone.
    They appear while I am editing, but don't print with the spreadsheet. I know how to do it in Excel, but I am transitioning to Numbers. I can't imagine I have to type them into their own columns and rows. It must be a difference in vernacular that I can't find the solution in the User Guide. Can anyone help?

    Hi ktjobauer,
    Numbers is not Excel and Excel is not Numbers. Numbers is WYSIWYG (at least in File > Print and the actual printout).
    I can't imagine I have to type them into their own columns and rows.
    No, you don't. You can use the charm of Numbers to create cell references for your Excel clients.
    In this Numbers Table, I have added some extra Columns that you can hide later.
    Column B =COLUMN(A2)
    Column C =HLOOKUP(B2,'Table 1-1' :: $1:$2,2,FALSE)      [explanation later]
    Column D =ROW(B2)
    Column E =C2&D2
    Add those formulas to the first Body Row (below the Header Row) and Fill Down.
    Column C refers to another Table which you need only create once, to convert a Column number to a letter:
    and so on from 1-26, A-Z.
    You can move the second Table to another Sheet to hide it. Formulas will automatically adjust to keep the links between Sheets.
    Now in the first Table, select and Hide Columns B,C,D. Formulas will continue to work with hidden cells:

  • File name to print with your image (PS3)

    Hi,
    I'm working on about 20ish photoshop images that have a specific name to match up to a diagram, so when I print them I need the file name lable to appear on the print with it. Additionally when I send them off to clients, I need to have that file name lable visable on the pg of the pdf while looking at the image so they know which one is which. The collected multi pg pdf needs to be under 3megs (5 mgs max) so it is easily emailable.
    I'm trying to find an automated or an easier way to do this than what I am doing one by one now. I tried to set up a PS action which I would batch to all open files but, becuase of the two step print dialogue it gives me an error saying all the settings weren't recorded, thus it doesn't work.
    What I'm doing now:
    1. Cmd+P to print, in the print dialogue under the "output" drop down I have "Labels" checked
    2. Hit print, then my printer driver dialogue box pops up, then in the lower left corner I click the button "PDF" and "Save as a PDF"  (This produces an acceptable quality pdf at a sm size)
    3. I'm able to save it by the file name with .pdf extension and specify the folder to save it into.
    4. Repeat 20ish times for each file
    5. In Acrobat create a pdf out of multiple files
    6. Then make a print of all of them together for myself
    7. Email to client
    Can anyone help me figure out a way to stream line this procedure, there must be a way, this is way to time consuming?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Dave but that is a very restricting way of doing this. Anyway I have worked it out.
    Get script "AddFilename20pt.jsx" from http://www.jkost.com/photoshop.html
    Place script in scripts folder in SC5
    restart PS
    Use script within an action to size and place the file name where you want over the image. Bevel emboss, drop shadow do what you want with it.
    It is found under > File > Scripts > AddFilename20t
    Done.

  • Printing with IPP (SSL) and job user names

    Hi,
    Environment: Windows 2008 R2 Servers, WIN 7 and WIN 8.1 clients, all 64 Bit
    I setup a printing environment including a FollowYou solution. To realize data encryption from end2end, we decide to use IPP over SSL for Printing. Everything works fin, IIS is installed, all certificates are in place and the necessary clients are enabled/
    installed.
    Because of the FollowYou solution, i need the origin user who sent the Job from his client via the print server to the printer. Thats where my problem is. I tried three ways to print from the client: SMB, IPP and IPP over SSL. Just if i use SMB, the username
    is transferred correctly with the Job and can be seen in the job list in the stopped printer queue. Neither with IPP nor with IPP over SSL the jobname is coming with the job (i see nt authority/IUSR instead).
    Is there something i can do to see the username within the job using IPP?
    Thanks and regards,

  • 400 dpi tifs printing with dots /  resolution issue

    I'm being supplied with 600 dpi RGB .tif files from a client. I convert them to Grayscale, the lower resolution to 400 dpi, without changing the size of the graphic, and save as a .tif.  This tif then gets inserted into a microsoft word file within the Lotus Notes system.  The files are music scores, so all just B&W line art, no shades of gray.
    My client is saying that the 400 dpi versions are not good enough, and I have to admit after experimenting with printing the same file at 600 and 400, the degradation of the lines in the 400 dpi version is apparent, though I don't think it's as bad as the client is saying. Other work I do is used at 400 or even 300 dpi, yet this one person is being persnickety.  The problem is that when these 600 dpi files are place in the word files in the Lotus Notes system, the size of the files slows the system down and creates problems.  I'd really like to keep the files to 400 dpi to keep them smaller, also to be consistent with the other work we do but cannot argue with the client's claim that the 400 version is not as sharp as the 600.
    I'm just wondering why a 400 dpi .tif would not print sharply.
    Note - the files are music scores generated by the Finale program, and apparently in Finale it is no longer possible to generate a grayscale - RGB is their only option. My client has spoken to the developers of Finale who informed her that 1200 dpi is standard for printing music (WHAT???)
    Any solutions to getting an acceptable quality print while keeping a smaller size 400 dpi .tif are appreciated.
    http://www.finalemusic.com/

    I'm just wondering why a 400 dpi .tif would not print sharply.
    You are throwing an office program in the mix, that explains part of the problem and second, 400dpi is not a particularly print-friendly raster resolution for office/ home printers and their unflexible rasterization and sampling. Because of the underlying math, at such "crooked" resolutions the printer driver may skip raster lines and/or content may coincide unfavorably with the raster grid, resulting in quite apparent artifacting. Most printer drivers and processes are optimized to using specific raster densities and widths and usually that means 300dpi/ 600dpi with effective lpi also producing values divisible by 3 (120/150/180/240 lpi), thus sampling an even number of pixels per raster. That's of course a simplification, but should give you an idea and also make clear, while blanket staments about printing at 1200dpi are wrong and utterly meaningless (aside from such stuff being often flexo printed in the first place, which follows its own rules...). So to cut a long story short, your images would probably print a lot better if you embed them at 300dpi, matching your printer settings. In the long run you also really should consider using a proper layout program instead of Word/ Notes.
