Prints garble intermittently. Some parts of pages print fine, others have characters replaced.

Computer is Windows XP. Printer is wired network connection. Printer is new OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911g and has the latest drivers and firmware.

Found this fix..
http://routingbyrumor.wordpress.com/2007/12/30/my-adobe-acrobat-pdf-files-are-printing-garbage-text-...
Today, after reprinting the same PDF several times, and getting garbage out each time, I clicked “print”, and started looking around in the print window that opens for my HP 7260 printer. When I print PDFs, I get an “Advanced” button in the bottom left corner of the print window that I can click on. There are a bunch of “greyed-out” postscript options in this window, but there is also a check box that says “Print as image”. I decided to check this box and click “OK”, which closes the advanced printing options window, then I clicked “OK” to send the PDF to the printer. I think doing this causes the entire document to be sent to the printer as “raster graphics”, rather than as PCL containing a mix of graphics and ASCII text.
Voila! The PDF printed correctly. I’m not certain that checking the “Print as image” option was the reason, but it’s worth trying if you are having this problem, and you have this option in your print setup.

when printing from an online PDF, the page prints in extra large scale. How do I fix this?

This can happen when Firefox has misread the paper size from the information supplied by Windows. Clearing it can involve finding some obscure settings, but here goes:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''print''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) For each setting for the problem printer, right-click and Reset it. The fastest way is to right-click with the mouse and then press the r key on the keyboard with your other hand.
Note: In a couple other threads involving Brother printers, the preference '''printer_printer_name.print_paper_data''' was set to 256 and when the user edited it to 1 that fixed the paper size problem. If you see a 256 there, you can edit the value by doubling-clicking it or using right-click>Modify.

  • Print Widget cutting of part of page

I am trying to use the print widget to print a page of my captivate presentation.  when I preview it to print it as a pdf, it is cutting off part of the page.  How do I get it to print the whole page?

I am also having problems with the Captivate 6 print widget.  I am publishing to an exe and most of the time, the print widget creates a page where only part of the slide is showing and it is off center and larger than it is supposed to be.  It looks as if it is only printing the stage.  I am a contractor and am not allowed to purchase third party widgets.  I have tried to alter the print widget in flash and when I do, it only prints blank pages, if it prints at all.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am using Captivate 6 and Flash cs6.  I have tried the Certificate Widget, but the certificates do not have the information on them that I need.  We have created our own certificate with user variables for the Name, Couse and dates.  I have not had a chance to look at altering the Captivate Certificate widget yet.  Any help is appreciated.

  • J6480 part of page prints too light

A friend of mine has an hp office jet all in one printer model j6480 that is giving her problems. When she prints a page, the top half looks good, but the bottom prints too light. When she prints another page right after that, the same problem occurs.  She will bring it over for me to look at on Tuesday. In the meantime, I was hoping to get an idea of what might be causing it or how to diagnose the problem.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
Without knowing your printer and operating system I can only offer limited suggestions. Post back with them is this does not resolve your issue:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01892627&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
Give the steps listed under your operating system a try and let us know if it helps.

  • Only part of page prints on HP Laserjet III

When I print several pages, sometimes one on the pages only prints the top third or two-thirds. It's usually a page (or a few pages) on the middle of the print job.
I have been waiting for a rainy day to raise this point and hopefully solve it at long last.
    Thanks.

I obtained the same result independent of whether I use "print this page". It happens on multiple download software instructions on the Canon website.
Sorry I used the wrong link when I replied before.
Is there any addition information that I could provide?
    Sincerely,
    Roy

  • Mail messages appear garbled in some parts of the text.

I carried out the upgrade this morning as it was suggested I do this.
Now at least some messages are appearing with garbled text BUT not the whole page.
when I say garbled I mean some text is overlapping other parts.
Looking at one particular message it appears as if the 'footer' is overlapping midway up the message.
I have a screen shot but how do I add it as a pictures saves a thousand words?
What is going on and how can I fix it please.
    Have a scintillating Saturday

    A few remarks:
    - place the cfparam code lines out of the cfdocument tag;
    - remove the link tag from within cfdocument. The link tag
    may only appear in the head section of the page;
    - remove the cfoutput tag. It is apparently unnecessary;
    - remove the long comment lines <!------------ ...
-------------->. If you need to break the document up into
sections, use the cfdocumentsection tag. A previous thread contains
    an
example of using cfdocumentsection and cfdocumentitem tags for
    section and page flow.
added: You should consider installing the
    Coldfusion
MX 7 hotfixes if you haven't done so yet. One of the fixes is
    for cfdocument's text cut-off problems.

  • E-print works on some e-mail address, but not others?

    HP Officejet Pro8600
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    error: "550 5.7.1 Command rejected"
I am able to send and print e-mail print jobs from @hotmail.com and @live.com addresses, but not from @q.com (a Century Link primary domain for customers, not a corporate account). I have set up "Anyone can send ePrint jobs to this printer." These failed print jobs never appear in the ePrint Center listing of Recent Print Jobs. I have tried sending via Outlook 2010 and via the Century Link web based e-mail application -- they both return to me as bounced messages. What's going on here?

There are certain email clients that are supported for ePrint.  I included a screenshot of supported clients.  Also, I am adding a link for helpful information about ePrint.

  • "Server not found" error on every site after some use, the pages work fine in other browsers

I'm getting the "Server not found - Firefox can't find the server at blablabla.com" error after using Firefox for a while, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. This error appears on every single page, and does not go away until I restart Firefox. Google Chrome can load these pages with no problem, so it's not a problem with my internet connection. I've already done everything on this page:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Server%20not%20found
And it did not help at all.
I have not installed any new extensions, plugins, userscripts or anything like this, and everything was working perfectly fine until a week ago.

I've encountered 404 errors and xmarks keeps popping up when I try to open igoogle.
All of the is in Firefox4.0 Beta 8.
I don't have any problem in Chrome, no 404 errors, no xmarks showing up when it should be the igoggle search page.
    Most disconcerting.

  • Printing results in fully/partially blank pages

I'm developing a Java application that generates printed output, and am having trouble with pages intermittently being printed partially or completely blank. The pages contain mostly a mixture of text and line graphics, and sometimes bitmap images such as a company logo. Sometimes just a logo is missing from a page, sometimes the whole bottom half of a page is missing, and at other times an entire page is printed blank.
The problem usually occurs with longer multi-page documents, but can also happen with fairly short documents. It doesn't matter if a multi-page report is generated as a single print job, or if each page is generated as a separate job.
The problem varies with workstation/OS/printer combinations. Some combinations always work reliably, while others exhibit the problem frequently. In one case, a workstation running Windows XP exhibits the problem when printing to an HP LaserJet connected locally via either USB or parallel cable, but the same workstation prints fine when a network-attached HP Laserjet is used. However, another workstation running Windows 2000 has problems printing to the same network-attached printer.
My application uses JRE 1.3, and I've tried various maintenance releases as they became available, hoping one of them would solve the problem. I'm currently using JRE 1.3.1_11. I've also tried running my application under the latest JRE 1.4 release, and it worked no better.
I've seen other reports of similar problems over the years, but most of them are old, as are the related bug reports that I've been able to find (which all seem to be closed).
I use RReport to generate the reports I'm trying to print, which is put out by Java4Less (www.java4less.com). The FAQ on their site hints that others have encountered the same problems I am, but their solution is to make sure to use the latest JRE release, which is scary since that doesn't solve the problem. I have the source code to RReport, which I have examined quite thoroughly. While it's not pretty code and has some obvious issues, I can't find anything to suggest that it could cause the kind of problems I'm seeing, especially so inconsistently.
Is it possible that there is some fundamental flaw in the JRE's printing code that has slipped by unconfirmed to this day? Or has the emphasis on J2EE and web apps. allowed this issue to be swept under the rug?
    Kevin Rahe

I did finally find an open bug, # 4527394, that appears to address this issue. I found a solution for the printer that is currently giving me headaches, which is an HP LaserJet 2300d. I turned off the "Enable advanced printing features" setting on the printer's Advanced Properties, and the problem went away. Other applications, such as Adobe Acrobat, are able to print similar documents to the same printer reliably even if "Enable advanced printing features" is enabled, however, so this is really just a workaround, and indicates that Sun's JVM has some fundamental problems in its printing facilities, at least on the Windows platform.

  • Printing double sided odd number of pages

I have Adobe Reader 10.0.2 instalied on my iMac running Mac OS 10.6.7 with a Canon Pixma iP4200 printer. Since installing this version of Reader I have come across a curious problem with printing PDF files double sided with an odd number of pages.
For example, a three page PDF file printed double sided. The first page prints first, then pages 2 and 3 print double sided. This leaves a blank page on the reverse side of page 1 which is INCORRECT and has me puzzled. Normal double sided printing should have pages 1 and 2 back to back and page 3 with a blank page on the reverse.
All my other software on my iMac prints an odd numbered file double sided correctly. It is only Reader 10.0.2 that has this problem and would appreciate a solution.
Have I found a bug in the Reader software?.
    Regards
    Peter AKA DaftBrush

    Hello
I specially created a PDF of three pages with no page breaks or section breaks. The problem still persists no matter what way I set the printing order of the pages, that is automatic, normal or reverse when double sided printing. The same file in MS Word format prints perfectly.
My only solution at the moment is to add a blank page at the end of a PDF document that has an odd number of pages.
I would like to know if I have discovered a bug in Adobe Reader and is there a fix that I can download to solve the problem.
    Regards
    Peter

  • Multiple pages in SP01 (spool) but only last page printed to printer.

    Dear Experts,
Here is a strange situation. I have 28 pages in one spool request, but when I print it out, only the last page printed out... Where are the 27 pages? Even though I use printing setting (From page 1 to page 28), it still printed last page only...
Can any one teach me how to solve this problem?
    Thank you!
    Joanne Wu

    format setting was wrong.

  • PDF 1st page prints full size but not the rest

I have one PC that has the following issue when printing PDF's. The first page prints full 8 1/2 by 11, but subsequent pages are scaled down to about 1/3 of the page.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Reader, but to no avail.
This is the only PC it is happening to.

I also have this problem printing photos from an iPad to an Epson WF-2540 printer. It prints only 4x6 and without border (so print starts at extreme top left corner of paper). Borderless printing is not selected on printer. Printing a square photo just crops to 4x6 size.

  • Duplex printing of multiple copies of single page

I really like that the settings for printing are retained so you can leave it set to duplex rather than having to select it each time. Although I do get caught with not resetting the number of copies on occasion. I do a lot of printing and like to conserve paper.
The problem is when duplex is set and I print multiple copies of a single page, it prints on both sides of the paper. When printing two copies I get one page printed on two sides instead of two pages printed on one side.
I know the easy answer is reset the duplex setting. But it should print correctly regardless. Has anyone had this problem and found how to deal with it other than resetting duplex?

If these settings are in the printer driver (which they most likely are) then you'd have to contact the driver manufacturer. Perhaps there are multiple "double-sided" settings. For instance, if there is "duplex" as one option and "two-sided" as another option in the driver, then perhaps one indicates all copies will be printed double-sided even on the same page (as you're experiencing), whereas the other would print multiple two-sided copies. This, however, is very driver-dependent behavior. I'd recommend checking to see if there's an update available for your printer driver that might either clear the problem or provide a clearer option setting for the print jobs.
