Prints pdf too small

I am having the same problem as http://forums.adobe.com/message/3399663 and need to have the print-pdf work, rather than save as pdf. Save as produces a 48mb file, print as (when it works) produces a 4 MB file I can email.
I create a 11x17 poster 300 dpi in Photoshop. Go to print as pdf and it generates an 11x17 document with a thumbnail in the upper left that is the image. On 399663 they recommend a work around (Save as PDF, do not print as PDF) but this generates a 48 MB file. When the print does work (and it is erratic) it produces a perfect 4MB file that I can email that can then be printed by the recipient on a large-paper colour laser printer.
If anyone has any answers as to settings that can fix this, I would appreciate it.
Currently running CS5.12.0.4 x32 on Windows 7 pro

Just got off the phone with Adobe and found a cure.
Open print dialog box.
Go to Set up
the paper size: scroll to top and select defined by driver.
It worked for both the HP 8150 and Xerox Phaser 7700
I'm running CS3 on Mac Intel G5 OS X 10.5.5.

My Pixma 8120B prints everything too small. How do I adjust the print size please?

    Hi merlin,
You can adjust the size of what you are printing by following these steps:
     1.  Open the item you wish to print.
     2.  Click on File and then Print.  If File is not visible, please press the <ALT> key on your keyboard.
     3.  Click Preferences.  If this is not available, click Properties.
     4.  Click on the Page Setup tab.
     5.  Under Page Layout, select "Scaled".
     6.  Next to Scaling, increase the percentage to 150 or 200.
     7.  Click Apply and then OK.
    Print the item.

  • The print is too small on various web sites that I open. How can I correct this?

The print is too small on various web sites that I open. This has never happened on older Firefox versions. How can I correct this so every page I open, the print size is consistent and legible? I don't want to change it every time I open a new site.

    Hi Donna,
Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Font Size and the scale (size) at which a document is printed is controlled within the application just before the job is sent to the printer -  this means the size is set from your browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer) or perhaps your Editor (Word).  Generally speaking, most applications use Print Preview -- or a variation of that program under a different name.
An explanation and the use of Print Preview is avialble in the following document:

the print on my printer is too small is there someway to reset it

    Hi there,
I understand you're having an issue with the font being too small when printing. I will certainly do my best to help you with this!
I just have a few questions so I can help you better.
Which model of printer are you working with?
What operating system is on your computer? (Windows or Mac?)
Are you referring to the print on the pages that come out of the printer? Or the text on the screen of the printer is too small?
If it's from the computer, what program are you trying to print from? (Such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, etc.)
Once I have this information I should be able to assist you better!

  • [SOLVED] gscan2pdf produce pdf too small

    Hello,
I have a problem with gscan2pdf 1.2.0. First did somebody already installed it and does it works ? My problem is the following:
when I try to produce a pdf, the size of the pdf is reduced. For example if my scan is tangente.jpg I get the following size:
    % identify tangente.jpg
    tangente.jpg JPEG 2552x3508 2552x3508+0+0 8-bit sRGB 1.896MB 0.000u
    0:00.000
And after OCR and saving as pdf:
    % identify test.pdf
    test.pdf PDF 241x331 241x331+0+0 16-bit Bilevel Gray 10.3KB 0.000u
    0:00.000
But with djvu everything is fine. If I downgrade to 1.1.3 it doesn't help. Something happens during the saving
as pdf, but I can't find what.
Any idea ? Or just tell me if it works for somebody.
    Thanks!

Ok, I'll try to be clearer, just tell me after that if you understand my problem. I want to scan  a page of a magazin (or book, it doesn't matter).
To do the scan I use xsane and I scan at 300 dpi. My goal is to have a searchable pdf. To get it, I take the scanned document and I open it in gscan2pdf.
With gscan2pdf I perform ocr with tesseract. After that I save my document as pdf.
Now the problem. The document I have scanned is saved in jpg format. If I try to print the jpg, it's the same size as the original document, so it's A4.  I
mean here the size of the printed document, not the filesize. After doing an ocr on the jpg and saved as a pdf in gscan2pdf, if I try to print the document, it's
smaller than the original scanned document. I don't know exactly, but I would say smaller than a quarter of A4 (A4/4). So the document doesn't keep the original
size, so A4. There is no problem if I save the document as djvu.
Now if I scan the document with gscan2pdf (at 300 dpi) or simple-scan, do ocr with gscan2pdf and save it as a pdf file and then try to print it, it's the original size A4.
If I do the same with xsane or skanlite, the printed pdf is smaller than A4, so the original size is reduced.
Is it clearer for you ? Do you need more input ?

    Hi Jeremy...
There's a work around that may help you. The Mac OS X has "accessibity" features installed that can assist in viewing text.
Open System Preferences then select Universal Access then select the Seeing tab.
    Zoom settings are available there.
More about Mac OS X accessiliity here >  Apple - Accessibility - OS X - Vision
You can provide feedback to Apple here >  Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback
If you are not aware, when viewing Safari webpages, you can press Command + (plus)  or Command - (minus) to adjust the size of the page.
For zooming text only, click View from the Safari menu bar then from the drop down menu click Zoom Text Only.

  • Prints are too small

I bought a new printer (HP Photosmart D5460) and whenever I print certain PDF files from www.mes-english.com it prints too small. I have large margins on the right side and the bottom. Ive clicked choose paper source by PDF paper size. Ive tried print at actual size, scale to paper size, but it doesnt make any difference. The funny thing is that everything looks normal in the preview, but the actual print comes out way too small. I have this problem only with certain files, and not with others (small game cards, for example http://www.mes-english.com/flashcards/files/adjectives1_cards.pdf). Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

That doesn't work either. Nothing seems to work. Do you have any other suggestions?

  • My prints are too small

I need help printing a 10 X 20 canvas print.  It keeps printing too small.

You have to provide much more details. What document are you trying to print? What size? What DPI? What printer? What print settings? What system? From a simple "Fit to page option" in the printer driver that you may be overlooking to insufficient size and DPI in teh document itself to physical limitatiios in the printer itself that may restrict the printable area there could be many factors at play here.

  • Print output too small to read

Different pages are scaled between about 90% and 25%,
resulting in text that's too small to read. I don't see any
controls that allow one to seet the scale factor.

I am having the same problem. I created my Flashpaper
document on a Mac in OS 10.3. My file looks fine in the browser,
but when I print it, the document scales. I am using the Flash
Player 9 plugin and this problem seems to exist on any browser I
use on my Mac (Safari, Firefox, Opera). The flashpaper documents on
Adobe's site are doing the same thing to me. Please let me know if
anyone has a solution. Does this happen in anyone else's
    environment (different browser/platform)?

  • Print is too small

    Hi,
When I try to print photos they come out too small. I preview them and they are
shown small in the preview. I select the proper size in the print mode but they
come out small in a corner of the paper. What am I doing wrong? I have printed
before and everything worked great. I have a HP 4315v desk jet all in one printer.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
What size are the pics? Select one in the iPhoto Window and click on the wee ‘i’ lower left. You’ll see the size expressed in pixels.

Printer gives me an error message saying a 3 1/2 X 6 1/2 envelope is too small for job.  However, I can print other envelopes with no problem.  ex. 4 1/2 X 10.  Printer model is a C6280.

  • MARS License: Print is too small!

Does anyone else find the size of the type used on the Mars license too small? I'm referring to the license tag on the front panel of the MARS box.
    I'm using a magnifying glass on it and can't tell the difference between S and 5, G and 6, O and 0, Z and 2.
The box is basically a boat anchor until I go through every permutation.
Please tell me if I am missing something here?
Thanks in advance and all posts will be rated.

Thanks. They print it on the back of the CD.
Unfortunately, the print is the same size and is of even poorer clarity than the one on the MARS box.
I'll have to take a picture and send it to TAC just to get a license.
It's ironic that the MARS 100 I was working on yesterday had the license pre-loaded. This MARS 50 must have been sitting around the warehouse.
