Prints to not match colors on monitor.

How do I resolve this issue?  I am told to convert to CMYK, but not sure how and if possible with PSE 11. I order prints from outside sources and all turn out the same.  I have a green/gray tone throughout.

Suggest that you calibrate your monitor with a device made for this purpose.
Go to Edit>Color settings>check "Always Optimize for Computer Screens"
Go to File>print>More options (at bottom of dialog)>Color management tab>under color handling drop-down>"Printer manages colors."
Please let us know if this improves the color fidelity.
What happens when you print from another application?
You can't convert to CMYK in PSE.

  • Colors in print preview not matching colors in soft proofing

    Hi There,
Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.
I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. Please see attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors.
I would appreciate if anybody could point me in the right direction in what is causing this difference. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    D.

    Here are some addtional details:
    PS 13.1.2
    Mac OS X 10.8.4
    12 GB Ram
    60 GB free disk space
I printed the same photo from two other computers (MacBook and iMac) with different PS versions (CS4 and CS5). The prints turned out identical to the first one which matches the print preview color rendition on my main computer (MacPro) running CS6. Strangely the colors in print preview of CS5 on the iMac renders the colors identical to the soft proofing colors.

  • Colors printed do not match color on screen

When printing photos from adobe elements I cant ge the same colors as on the screen -come out much lighter. have tried mackinc the colors on screen darker in hopes of geting the color i want -doesnt work completely

You probably need to calibrate your monitor. Take a look at this link:

  • Monitor and printer colours not matching!

Hi, when I print, the colours do not match my monitor! Using CS6.

There's no easy answers here, you have to read up on color mangementnt, calibration and all that stuff. Start by reseting any color tweaks to factory defaults on your monitor and printer. Beyond that it's a topic peopel write books about and nobody can answer this in two simple sentences. Scour the print-centric forums for Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for some posts from the past that offer basic guidance and research the topic on a more generic level with a web search.

  • Photosmart 8750 - how to avoid white edges on print? And how to match colors from monitor to print?

Hi all! I´m new here so I hope I ask this in the right forum. Please advice me if this should be in another sub-forum..
First: The white edges around my photos when printed:
I can´t figure out how to avoid the white edges when I print my photos.
If I print in A3 size (or any other size) there´s always the white edges around my photos on the print, and it´s really annoying.
I make the size in Photoshop (CS4 extended) so that the photo matches the size of the printing paper, but still it gets adjusted when printing so I get the white edges.
I either print directly from PS or from Windows Photoviewer. (I have Windows 7).
In PS in the printing dialog box it says Scale to fit media, when I tick this and also have the Show Paper White ticked, it appears that the photo goes exactly as the size is set, but then I can see a thin white edge on top of it, illustrating that the photo will be printed with a white edge on top. If I untick the Scale to fit media, the photo appears to be cut a great deal before printed, so this will destroy my image.
I usually print from Windows Photoviewer as the colours in PS turns out more different than when saved and printed from Windows. (My next question).  In Windows Photoviewer I only have the option Fit to frame, but in the preview it doesn´t look like any of those two options will give a borderless print.
In the printers dialoge box for the Paper/Quality I only use the option for A3 HP glossy photopaper, but I see there are other options such as Photo without edges A3, but then the size says 423x303mm which is slightly bigger than the size of the photo.
Also there´s a box to tick under it, Print without edges and under it Automatic fit without edges.
Is it something here I should tick or untick?
What options should I use to get it to print and fill the whole paper?
Second: How to get the same colours on my print as it shows on my monitor?
I have tried figuring out this, but I gave up. Though I know there´s something about the Profile´s, just not how to set them..
As already said, the colours looks quite different when printed directly from PS than saved as .jpg and printed from Windows Photoviewer. In colours the print is closer to the actual colours when printed from Windows than from PS, but BW photos is quite far from as seen on the monitor when printed, from both of them.
Instead of this nice warm "brownish" hue seen on my monitor, it´s printed with a greenish hue. Really annoying as I spend a lot of time working on my photos to get them as I like.
In the printer´s dialog box (in Windows) I have disabled the ICM colour management.
In PS dialog box I´m sure there´s something to do different under the Color Management, but I don´t know what.
Also there´s probably something different in my monitor´s profile that differs from the printer and PS?
Anyone who can help with either one or both of my problems??
That would be highly appreciated so thanks so much in advance!

    HI Lisa91,
Here is a link to a post about the same problem you are having and the same printer. You may find the posts helpful as some were able to find a solution. Post number 6 and number 12 specifically have found solutions that worked for them. Hope this helps some.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!

  • Calendar colors on iPhone do not match colors in iCal

I just got a 3G iPhone, and have found that the colors I've assigned to different calendars in iCal do not match their colors on the iPhone. Many of the colors I've chosen in iCal are custom (that is, not available directly from the popup menu, but none of the colors match, and on the iPhone, multiple calendars apparently have the same color (two in blue, two in orange, and two in red).
This is with syncing via iTunes—I don't have MobileMe, fwiw.

Yeah, there is a long thread on this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7539514&#7539514
You should look it over--you'll find instructions for a clunky work-around (haven't bothered doing it, myself) and the link to leave feedback to Apple to ask them to fix this.

  • Type 4 printer driver shows color is available when printer is not a color printer

I am working on migrating to a new Windows Server 2012 print server.  I am trying to use the new version 4 printer drivers whenever possible.  I have noticed an interesting thing.  Here is an example.  When I added a new printer, an HP
LaserJet P3005 black and white printer using the HP LaserJet P3004/P3005 PCL6 Class Driver, under "features" it reports Color as "Yes."  Now the printer is not color and I have noticed this on all of the other class 4 drivers for black
and white printers.  Am I missing something or is this supposed to be this way?  The printers do print fine, I just wanted to know why this is showing up like this.

Really a question for HP since it is their software.
BUT:  A class driver can be used for a wide range of devices.  If the core class driver HP added for the P3005 is also used by devices that support color then the driver itself DOES support color even when the device does not.   There
are a couple ways HP could code around this.  I do see that HP's PS version of the P3005 does not have a color option in Printing Defaults.
I have seen this type of issue from other vendors on previous operating systems, it's not just HP nor anything specific to class drivers although a class driver would expose this when the software to constrain the feature has not been added by the vendor.

  • PS Elements 11 -- Incorrect Colors, color painted not matching color selected -- Help please!

Having a really odd issue with colors. The color that I have in my brush/paint bucket does not match the color that I picked up in my eye dropper/foreground color. Instead it paints out some diluted version of the color I'm using, and I have no idea why. I tried to look up a solution -- I reset the paint brush, all of the tools. And I have no layer styles set on said layers used.
Any ideas how I could fix this? I need too desperately.. And as a side note, I am using RGB for color.

Suggest that you reset the brush tool. On the tool's option bar, look for this:
Click on it to reset the tools. If that does not fix it, go to Edit>Preferences>General and look for for this:
Click on it, close PSE, then open the program.

  • HT3235 VGA adapter not matching up to Monitor/video port

I have an inFocus LP70+ Projector along with a Apple VGA adapter (Apple part M8639G/A). Am trying to connect it with an older iMac 8,1 desktop and finding that the Monitor/video outport does not match up to that adapter. Help?

Do you have an official Apple adapter or did you get a third-party one? If the latter, that could be the problem.

  • 3D active-x color table does not match color box ctrl values

I am having a problem. I want to allow the user to control the background color and plot colors on the active-x 3D graph in labview 7.1.1. I am using the standard color box ctrls in labview to allow the user to pick, but the colors do not match. When I pick blue (0,0,255), it comes up red (255,0,0). When I choose yellow (255,255,0), it comes up cyan (0,255,255), and vice-versa. Black and white seems to work correctly, as well as green (0,255,0) being right in the middle. I am assuming this means whatever algorithm NI is using to create the color value is not the same from the labview side to the active-x control side. Anybody else run into this, and have a solution?

    Thanks John.
Kind of funny, I ran off and built a sub-vi with the exact same guts as the OLE vi, but from looking at what the RGB vi did to break it down.
I would say though, they need to make a common sub-palette to deal with color issues. They have the same two RGB VIs located in two different spots, and this OLE one is in yet another. I think I would have looked under the Active-X sub-palette before I looked under the 3D graph palette (mainly because those are junk anyway, they barely give you any functionality).
    Anyway, problem solved, thanks again.

  • Dell 2135cn Dell printer but not in color.

I have a Dell 2135cn color laser printer. The printer works but will not print in color. I am using Lion. Anyone know how to print in color?

You can at least get the printer to print in color if you use the pxlmono/pxlcolor drivers from OpenPirnitng.org.  Just be sure to add the printer using the "Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer Foomatic/pxlcolor (recommended)" driver.
As I recall, when adding a printer using this driver, the default color space is Grayscale.  You can go to Printer Features, select color mode, and save it as a Preset.  Sorry to say you will have tro rely on Dell for any scanner drivers.

  • Preview and print does not match image in LR

I tweaked an image in Develop and printed some 5x7s until I got it right and then went to 13x19 (first time ever using that size with my R3000). The print preview and the print  were way too red. I went back to a 5x7 and it was way red as well in print preview, so I didn't print. I replaced a light magenta cart that I think ran out during the 13x19 print, and then some others that were low, and did a nozzle check and that was okay. I have spent hours looking around all of the settings (sRGB) and can find nothing that would explain what changed between my last good 5x7 print and the red 13x19. I went back to earlier versions and had the same problem. Monitor is due for recalibration, but that probably has nothing to do with it since it changed so suddenly. Any ideas of what to do?  R3000, LR 4.3, Win 7, NEC PA 271w, beginner level

A print that is too red / magenta is an indication for double color management, i.e. by Lr and by the printer.
Color management must be done only by one: either by the application (Lr or Photoshop) or by the printer but never by both.
When you select a printing profile in Lr that means that now Lr is doing the color management. Consequently you have to switch off colo rmanagement in the printer dialog (printer driver).
    See screen shot:
Or, you can do it the other way round: Let the printer do the color management and select <Managed by Printer> in Lr.

  • Color in Folio Preview does not match color in Workspace

I'm a beginner trying to make a layout of several images. The source images are PDF's and I want to eventually save the layout as a new PDF. When I bring the images into my layout, the color in the workspace is identical to the color in the source PDF's. However, if I do Folio Preview, the color is slightly different. If I Export the layout to PDF, then the resulting PDF's colors match the Folio Preview but not the source images. I've tried disabling all the Color Management I could find, but I am a beginner and clearly have not found the necessary settings. Appreciate any help.

Folio Preview is only for Digital Publishing Suite output and isn't the best way to preview. The most accurate color can be see if you choose View > Overprint Preview. You DON'T want to disable color management, in fact, I don't think you really can.

  • Casio projector colors do not match colors on Macbook air screen, casio projector colors do not match colors on Macbook air screen

When I hook my MacBook Air to a Casio projector, the sky blue colors on the Macbook screen look purple on the projector image.  It occurs whether I use a VGA or HDMI connector to display port so it can't be the cable.  I tried adjusting colors in the display preferences and on the projector. Doesn't help.  Any other ideas?

There is one point which nobody have made mention of, which also is something anyone who works in print should know about.
The first thing to know is that there are some Green and Red Pantones that are IMPOSSIBLE to reproduce on screen because of the limitation of the RGB gamut. (The RGB of screens can only reproduce a bit more than 60% of the real-life colors and around 50% of the Pantone are situated inside the remaining missing 40%. Almost EVERY Pantone, on your charts, that are situation on the 2 top and 2 bottom positions are not reproducible on screen.)
So, it's always normal that some Pantone never look the same between a screen and the Pantone chart even if the screen is calibrated in the best ways and that is why you uses a Pantone chart. The Pantone chart isn't just a "decision" tool, but also a "preview" tool so that you can see the exact final color regardless of what's on screen.
If that is not working with your workflow, then it simply means that your workflow is flawed as it's how it has been made to be. It's not a choice, but a limitation of physics with computer hardware which you have to live with as a professional.

  • Spot color swatches in AICS6 and AICC do not match color in design

    Hello,
Some of the lighter, saturated colors in the PANTONE+ swatches library appear to be a different color in the swatch list than they are when applied to a design.
Please, see below for screen shots.
i can duplicate this situation on calibrated NEC MultiSync monitors and uncalibrated laptops. We are running on Mac OS X.8x and above.
Designers are complaining about not being able to pick a color from the Swatch Library in AICS6 or AICC.
InDesignCC does not seem to have the same issue.
Is this a color managment issue?
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

pantone 361 is pantone 361 no matter how it appears on screen--that said--creating a design and 'then' appying a color can have 'different' results depending on what 'effects' were applied to the design--any transparent effects can cause a color shift--and--in my experience--many designers don't realise that when they use an 'effect' on an object (drop shadow, multiply, etc) and then create another object--the effect is also being applied (27 years in prepress verifies this)
as far as your screen shots are concerned--they appear identical on my monitor.
try this test with one of your designers--have them create an illustrator document with a rectangle filled with a spot color--save it as an .ai file---then have them place that file in Indesign and create a rectangle there--load the same color in the indesign pallette  and draw/fill a rectangle before placing the .ai file--then see if they match
