Prints too small on HP Inkjet 2800, prints too large on Adobe PDF Printer

I have been having this problem with all Macs in my network:
Whenever I need to print anything on my HP Inket 2800 printer, from either InDesign or Illutrator, it will print really small, even though "fit to page" is unchecked, size is at 100% and page sizes are correctly chosen. It will even ignore the Position settings (if I choose centered, it will print on upper left). If I export the PDF it shows fine and I can print perfectly through Acrobat.
If I choose to print over Adobe PDF, I get the opposite: InDesign will enlarge everything a lot and maintain the paper size for some reason. This way, I can't use Print Booklet to generate PDF files.
I have tried reinstalling the HP printer drivers, without success.
Any ideas?

Just got off the phone with Adobe and found a cure.
Open print dialog box.
Go to Set up
the paper size: scroll to top and select defined by driver.
It worked for both the HP 8150 and Xerox Phaser 7700
I'm running CS3 on Mac Intel G5 OS X 10.5.5.

Hello mikesorr,
On the bottom of the ink cartridge is a small chip that the printer reads to help determine information about the ink. You may want to inspect that area to ensure it is clean and inspect inside the printer where the chip makes contact with the printer contacts to ensure there are no spillage or other debris which may cause the chip to not be read properly.
Also it may help to also post your question on the HP Enterpise Business Community since the product is a business model, the community there may have additional troubleshooting steps or other information that may assist you.

Low speed of the printing on Inkjet 2800

I'm guy from Kazakhstan, so sorry for possible grammatical mistakes.
We have HP Inkjet 2800 in office. His speed of the printing is very low. Processing lasts around 1 minute...
This problem appeared since windows 7 was installed on PC (I'm calling it #1), which have connection with printer. Our printer was good when windows XP was installed. Other PCs are connected with PC #1 in LAN. PCs with windows 7 can print. PCs with windows XP have drivers for 2800 but can't print.
Also we used little Wi-Fi printserver to connect printer in LAN. It allowed to print from PCs with windows XP, but the speed of the printing was very low too (around 1 minute), even in case of 0.5Mb-sized files.
I have 2 questions:
1. Are there any variants how to provide normal speed of the printing (according to technical characteristics of the printer)?
2. How to provide work of windows XP and windows 7 at the same time?
Perhaps purchase of the additional device will help?

Try these steps given below to help solve the issue :
Check the port setting: The port setting configuration in your system might not be set to ECP. See the documentation that came with the computer for information on how to change the port setting, or contact the computer manufacturer.
Check the printer software settings: The printer prints slower when Best or Maximum dpi is selected as the print quality. To increase the print speed, select different print settings in the printer driver.

I have a new Wndows 7, 64 but PC. My HP inkjet 2800 connected via USB only prints blank pages. What is wrong?

IPhoto says print too large on cover

on the cover of my picture book on iPhoto it keeps giving me the red triangle exclamation point even when there is no print in the box. I am trying to print the cover title in Nahum brush script in 24 or smaller even and it won't let me. I deleted all print from the one picture cover in the box and it still says too large with no print. I am ready to order right now and don't know how to fix this. Please help ASAP.
I want the largest print I can get in the box under the one cover picture in journal style with nanum brush script. Hope this makes sense.

That is a warning - not a fatal error
BUT if you print and the results are bad there is no guarantee since you went ahead
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
My best guess is that you will have to do a much smaller point size - start at 12 and see if that works - it is it ok increase slowly until you get the warning and then back down one step

Font too large when printing an incoming email

I want to change the font size when printing out mail in my inbox. The email font size is small and OK, but when I print the email, it's too large. How to I change this?

Air print too large

Ever since the IOS7 series, my printer prints the fonts on the screen and not native fonts. I contacted apple store twice without any success. When I has IOS6, it used to print perfectly. Why Iphone sends screen fonts rather than the native fonts. Since I can not read small fonts on the screen, I have my screen set to large fonts which does not mean that I want the printout with same fonts. Any sugestions?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum. Most of the time, the size of the font -- the margins, the scale -- and the "whole general page" that you are printing is handled in the application you are using at the time you are setting up the print job. In most browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer), document editors (Word, Libre), and PDF Readers (Adobe Reader and Foxit), this "setup" is handled a program or subroutine called Print Preview. You (that is, the print job) can get into trouble when the Page Scale does not match the paper -- perhaps the margins are not (and should be) set "Fit to Page". The font sizes can be too tiny -- or too large -- for similar reasons, although it can become somewhat more complicated than that. It is also true that some documents and Web Pages are better printed in Landscape mode than in Portrait -- and it is not always clear by glancing at the Page which is best. Since installing update on 6/25, printing pdf pages OK, but bank account activity type is too large for the page. How do I shrink the type?

Since installing Firefox v.3.6. 6 update on 6/25, printing bank statements in pdf format is still OK, but when I select the print option for my bank account activity the type is too large for the page. How do I shrink the type? We are running Windows XP.

Firefox doesn't display PDF files all by itself, it uses your PDF reader program which is also what handles the printing of that file type.
As far as the large printed font from Firefox, open File > Page Setup and see what the '''Scale''' is set to. 100% is usually the best setting, but you might need to use a smaller setting.

Error message when uploading book for printing. All images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large to upload? What size is required and how do I reduce size in Aperture?

Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are around 1-3 mb each and 72 ppi. I think I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
Error message
1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results.

My firefox page/style format suddenly changed. I would like the original style format. Also, the size of the page and the print/font became too large and I can't seem to change it back. Thanks.

Maybe it got zoomed? Try Ctrl-0 (zero) and see if the text changes back to normal.

Very large file 1.6 GB..sports program for school. lots of photos, template where media spots saved and dropped photos in..trying to get it to printer swho says its too large but when reduces size loses all quality...HELP??

Please help...large file my sons Athletic program. Had noto problem with Quality last year..this new printer said file is too large..too many layers, can I FLATTEN..He reduced size and photos look awful. It is 81 pages. Have to have complete before next friday!! Help anyone??

At that size it sounds like you have inserted lots of photos at too large a size and resolution.
Especially for a year book style project, first determine your image sizes and crop and fix the resolution to 300 dpi, then drag them into the publication. Pages does not use external references to files and rapidly grows to quite large size unless you trim and size your images before placement.

When scaling in page setup, 1st page prints correctly, but subsequent pages do not scale correctly/too large for the paper, parts of the text missing

When trying to print in Firefox, and when scaling the page size in page setup, the first page prints correctly, but subsequent pages do not scale correctly and are too large for the paper, with parts of the text are being cut off at the top and right. This is not fixed by checking or un-checking the "ignore scaling/shrink to fit page width" in the print window, or by changing the scaling%.
I am running Firefox 15.0.1, on Mac OS 10.5.8.
The same problem happens in the print preview and if I save the print as a .pdf
I have tried all the fixes in the how to's and others in various forums with no improvement.
This happens every time I try to print a document scaled up or down only in Firefox.

The 2nd page print scaling error has been an issue with Firefox on the Mac since 2011. People at Mozilla have not considered this a major problem. Try printing anything at less than 100% and you'll quickly see how every page after the first page being scaled wrong gets old real fast. The lack of a solution to this issue forced me long ago into using Safari as my primary browser. Good luck waiting until version 21 for a solution. Current release is 18.0.2.

My image is too large for the print service. Best options...

I shoot with a Nikon D800. It appears the images are too large for the print service. What's the best method to reduce file size? Open in Photoshop, edit size, and return to Aperture?

You would have to look in your TV settings, that is likely the issue.

Printing from ipad too large on p1102w

All my printing from the IPad print out too large compared to the print from my Win7 PC.
E.g. If I print an email from my WIn 7 PC to the HP P1102w result normal - 1 page.
The same email printed from my Ipad to the P1102w prints a much larger font and runs to two pages.
Any ideas how to rectify this?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having to different out comes of print when using the P1102w, the Windows computer and iPad will print out the same email very differently.
What method are you printing to the P1102w with, ePrint (forwarding the email to the printers email), AirPrint (iPad's printing method) or the ePrint Mobile App?
When printing from Apps or Mobile devices, the printer is not in control of the print outs, the App controls that. With AirPrint and ePrint, I do not believe this is an option that can be adjusted. From the ePrint Mobile App there are more options to set, a re-size option I am not sure however.
