Priority launch of business rules

Hi!
I have a BR question and can't seem to get it resolve.
I created three BRs then I attached my BRs in Planning form with run on save, but when I save the form the BR I don't know what is sequence launch of business rules. Who is the first and who is the last?
Any idea/thoughts will be very much appreciated!
Alexander

You could put these rules in a sequence and there you can specify the order.
Cheers,
Amol

  • Launching of business rule

    hi ,
If i have business rule with my cost centre being selected by run time prompt. Now if 2 users from same costcenter launch the business rule selecting the same costcenter at the
same time wil that impact the run time for the business rule?
In short if 2 users launch the same calculation script on essbase database will that have effect on the run time of calc or how exactly would the same calc launched at the same
time by 2 different user run?
    Thanks in advance

It will have an affect on the calculation timing, the reason for this is the calculation is attempting to calculate twice over the same set of data blocks specific to the cost centre.
This can be overcome by lowering the LOCKBLOCK settings in cfg file or by calling SET LOCKBLOCK LOW from the BR.
Basically Essbase will calculate the same dataset twice but the impact on timing may be more than double as one run of the BR will lock blocks that the other BR is needing to calculate. One BR waits as one is calculating and vice versa, it is the swapping of the blocks that will affect the timing.
    Hope this helps

  • Issue with creating/Launching a Business Rule

    Hi All,
I'm using Hyperion version 11.1.2. When creating Business Rule in EAS console, we can't use admin user right ? Is there any specific reason for that ? I've created one other user called "BRadmin" and given admin privileges to all areas. I've logged in EAS console with the new user ID BRadmin and under "Business Rules" i'm trying to create a new Business Rule BR1. In the associated outline area when i'm trying to select "Select outline" no applications are showing under planning and the planning applications are available under Essbase node. For Business Rules, i should select Planning Application under Planning node right ? Why it is happening. I'm unable to select the Planning application from Planning node and due to this, i'm unable to see the Business Rule in Data Forms in Work Space. Pls. advice

I did Stop the following services, planning, EAS, hyperion RMI.
& Started them up RMI, EAS, Planning. After this have you logged in the planning application, before selecting business rules in EAS?
    1. Have you selected Calculation module as Business Rule during outline creation? if not select Calculation module as BR.
    2. Right click on the business rule node and select refresh user list.
    Cheers..!!!

  • EPMA Batch Client - Can I launch business rules created in Calc Manager?

I'm currently on a project where we have implemented an EPMA Planning app (v 11.1.1.2), and we need to schedule business rules to run in batch. In the past, I used the command line launcher to perform this task. Unfortunately, the command line launcher is really a part of EAS, so it would appear that I cannot use this method to launch a rule created in Calc Manager. Is this correct?
It looks like my other option is to use the EPMA Batch Client. In looking at the "Execute" command in the documentation, it doesn't reference the ability to run a business rule. The docs are fairly limited, so I'm wondering if I really CAN launch a business rule from here.
Has anyone scheduled a business rule (created in Calc Manager) to run in batch? If so, what method did you use? If all else fails, I can create a calc script and run it from MaxL, but I'd rather not have multiple versions of the code floating around.
    Thanks!
    - Jake

    Hi Jake,
One of the known issues in 11.1.1.3 is :-
You cannot launch a business ruleset with runtime prompts from the Planning command line launch (7205464).
Whether this means you can't run calc manager BR's from command line I am not sure.
There is no documentation in this area so I assume it can't be done yet.
    Cheers

  • Can't launch Business rules from Smartview

    Hi,
I am trying to lauch a business rules from smartview, but the "calculation option"/ "business rules" menu is unavailable in Excel.
This business rules is available in the Web HBR launcher.
How could I get access to business rules in Excel please ?
    Regards

In Excel, you can't launch a Business rule in a free form, you have to use a form from Hyperion Planning for example.
It would have been nice to be able to launch a BR in Smartview, as in the web launcher.

  • How to launch business rules from forms in task list

    Hello,
in Planning 11.1.1.3 how can we launch the business rules associated to the data forms using the task lists?
I know we can build a task that launches a business rule but we don't know how to pass parameters/members to the BR while if it is launched from the data form the parameters are passed from the form itself...
    Thank you

After two hours searching on manuals and forums we found the solution: menu Edit L-> launch rules...
    Sorry

  • Launching Business Rules

    Hi All,
I am using EPM system 11 and have created a classic planning application. I have created two business rules for calculating data in the dataforms(through the business rules in EAS).
Is it a must to launch Business Rules with every restart of services and each time we access the dataforms on which Br has been applied?
Any help will be appreciated .....
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
You don't need to launch the business rule each time you restart the services, the data will be held in essbase and will only need recalculating when required, so you only need to recalculate the data if it changes e.g. changes are entered into forms.

  • Launch business rules simultaneously from multiple different locations?

Hi All, Thanks in Advance !!
I need to launch business rules simultaneously in Hyperion planning from different multiple locations..
So ,Is there any trouble if i launch a business rule simultaneously from 4-5 locations on same planning application through workspace.
    Thanks
    Vivek Jaiswal

If you are running the same business rule multiple times then it is trying to calculate and access the same section of the essbase database or are using different RTPs, is this really what you want to do.
You can certainly run multiple rules, I take it you are doing some sort of load testing.

  • Business Rule Error

    Hi,

Yes it creates a connection and populates information into EAS/HBR db table (HBRPluginData), not sure if it is exactly the same with the command line launcher though I thought it may be.
Its always been a pain that you have to log into planning first before business rules work correctly through EAS, probably never get fixed now as the push is towards calc manager now.

  • Business Rules : Unable to create a global variable (Fixed)

    Hello all,
    I try to create a global variable in order to use it in a business rule;
    I selected an outline.
    I chose the type "Member"
    I chose the dimension "Period"
I clicked on the lookup button in front of the default value and chose the member "January"
Finally, I chose the usage type "Run-Time prompt" and type in a prompt string.
Unfortunately, when I click on save, I get an error message : Variable value ["January"] is invalid.
If I try to do not specified a default member, it is possible to save.
But when I launch the business rule and specified a member in the the prompt message, I get an error 1060120 : OLAP error.
I cannot figure out what's going wrong, so any help is welcomed.
    Thanks,
    DLP

    Thanks for your answer,
I finally figure out what's going wrong.
This issue is due to the fact that the outline is configured to accept duplicated names.
When I create the same outline but with duplicated names turn off, every thing goes perfectly.
I don't know why the outline accepts duplicated name.
In fact, I do not understand what are the reasons for using duplicate name...

  • Unable to refresh database after forced stop of the business rule

    Hello, Experts!
I am currently testing and tuning performance of business rules in Hyperion Planning 9.3.1. I launched a business rule in EAS Console that was running way too long so I decided to stop it manually. But after this manual stop when I try to refersh Essbase from Hyperion Planning (Administration>Manage Database>Database Refresh) I get the following error:
+com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Cannot restructure. There are other active users on database [%s] (1013101)+
I remember having done forced business rule stops earlier in other Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 deployments and they did not generate such errors. So could you help me on how I prevent Hyperion Planning from this error after manual business rule stops because most likely I will have to do them in the future? Thanks very much!

John, you are right. I erred earlier: I was thinking that I had stopped the business rule, but it still was running. I had not seen this rule running because of lack of permissions for my user name. After adding extra Essbase permissions to my user name in HSS, I was able to see in EAS Console in Ediit>Sessions window that the rule was still running and Hyperion Planning definitely will produce the above error message if one tries to refresh Essbase cube while the rule is still running.

  • Error accessing Business Rules from EAS

    Hi,
I am using EPM System 11 and trying to access Business Rules via Essbase Adminstration Services Console (EAS). When I open up the Business Rules node from Enterprise View, and select Repository View > Rules, a list of all the Business Rules is displayed. However, when I try to click on one to open it in the editor, I received an error message from EAS the reads:
Business Rules Error. Error creating DBUserGrpObjLinkTable. Cannot continue.
When I click Get Detail, it just displays Detail: null. This occurs when trying to open any of the Business Rules. In the past I have had no problem creating, editing, and launching business rules from EAS.
I am still able to successfully launch the Business Rules I have already created and assigned to my Planning application FROM the Planning Web Application, but I am not able to edit them or create any new ones in EAS. Does anyone know what has happened to cause this error? It appears as if something happen to the one of the tables in the relational database that was configured during the installation of the EPM system? I can provide more detail if necessary. Thank you.

I have restarted the services and that did not solve the problem. This may be a stupid question, but I'm not exactly sure who I would contact at Oracle about this problem. Can someone tell me where I should look for this?
Also, I have a bit more information from the logs that may be helpful in solving this. Here is an excerpt from the hbrserver.log:
2009-12-09 03:28:10,656 WARN main com.hyperion.hbr.core.AccessControlManagerServer - HBR repository is not configured. HBR will not be available.
    2009-12-15 10:25:02,656 FATAL http-10080-Processor4 com.hyperion.hbr.core.AccessControlManagerServer - Error creating DBUserGrpObjLinkTable. Cannot continue.
It appears that the HBR repository is not configured? I am confused because Business Rules were working fine just last week, and I'm not sure what has changed. Also, I can still successfully run Business Rules from Planning. Any ideas on how to fix the repository? Thanks.

  • Business rule - cannot run

    Gurus,
I cannot launch a business rule. When I try to launch it, it gives a message "the rule cannot be launched because it has hidden rtp variables without default value"
What could be he problem with it.
    THANKS

Maybe it relates to the issue
9900514 - "The Use Members on Data Form and Hide Prompt options for business rules attached to composite data forms apply only for runtime prompt values from the globally shared pages and POVs of a composite data form. In other words, this will only use members that are shared across all component data forms. If users want a business rule to take context from a single component data form, they should attach the business rule to that component data form and include the business rules for that component data form at the composite data form level (<Business rules for componentX>)."
