Prism-Converted MPG's Now Have No Audio

Hi,
I downloaded and used the Prism Video Converter to obtain the desirable DV-AVI for my project. My FLIP videos converted fine but my MPG videos from my Sony DV now have no audio. I used the conversion settings recommended in the Video Conversion post on this forum. Should I use different settings? Should I use a different software?
Thanks,
Melanie

An observation --
Sony DCR-DVD505
looking at the camcorderinfo.com site, I see that this camcorder records 5.1 audio
"The DVD505 compresses video onto DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs in the MPEG-2 format. ....Audio is compressed into Dolby Digital 2/5.1 channel sound.
So perhaps the 5.1 audio is complicating the conversion process.
Previously posted in this thread --"You can then use the Motion Picture Browser software to do simple editing to the .MPG videos you just copied to your computer...which I did. I just clipped them down to the bits I wanted.
At first I imported those edited .MPG's from my computer to PE8. PE played them fine, audio and video"
A suggestion to try -
Open a new Premiere Elements project (project setting for SD HDD,DVD camcorder) and place only one of these .mpg's that you had clipped with Motion Picture Browser on the Timeline. Then Output from Premiere Elements 8 to DV-AVI: in other words try using PE 8 to do the conversion of your .mpg from the Sony Motion Picture Browser to DV-AVI!!
I know that suggestion sounds weird, but using PE 7 worked for me to convert a .mpg with 5.1 audio from a Sony HDD DCR-SR100 to DV-AVI. So I think it is worth a try with your video and PE 8.   However, don't do any editing in this PE 8 project and try it first with only 1 clip (mpg file).
Steve or someone else who has PE 8,
Please post how to do the DV-AVI output under PE 8 because I don't have v8 installed.

  • TS3274 After updating to the latest version of itunes I now have no audio .  The volume button is all the way up and it says "headphones".  I never saw that before and can't find where to change it.

I updated to itunes 7.02 yesterday and now I have no audio.  The side switch says mute or headphones.  How do I listen to anything without headphones?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

I grasp that after changing the drive to a SSD and installing Windows 8.1 Pro you lost your audio.  Drivers are showing as installed and working properly but you have not audio.
When I checked the driver page for your notebook I noticed that Windows 8.1 is not a supported Operating System.  With this being said HP does not provide the drivers as it is an untested OS on your system.  OEM's may and sometimes do alter drivers to perform correctly with your system.

  • Convert MPG to FLV produces no Audio (k)

I've run into this before and know there is a solution, but can't seem to find it. I have an .mpg movie that I need to convert to .flv. When I do, the video is fine, but there is not audio.
How can I get the audio in my movie?
    -Kirk

Accully demuxing a mpeg-2 file has it's benefits. (Small file size)
After you demux the mpeg-2 file you simply open the video in Quicktime to make your FLV.
If you convert straight to the Animation codec from Mpeg-Streamclip your video with grow in file size. Plus you add another compression onto your video.
    Original Mpeg-2 Video
    206 MB
    Time: 4:17
    854x480
    Demux Video
    183 MB
Took less than a minute to demux...
    Using Animation Codec
    7.25 GB
Took about 30 minutes to compress on my G-4.
Use which ever method you like....

You can use some third party software to copy the music from your old iPod back to computer first, and then import the music into iTunes and re-sync them to yournew iPod. Here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

Power cycle the cable modem.. you may try leaving it off 5min.. might be enough.. sometimes you need 15min or even longer.. Followed by power cycle of the AE.
Nothing else should be connected to the modem.. except the router that will get the public IP as they only hand out ONE>

  • MPG to Final Cut Pro , convert mpg files to FCP freely

Why need to convert/import MPG files to Final Cut Pro?
Final Cut Pro is the premium choice for any Mac video editing, and it is widely used by Mac users now. These MPEG standard files can be these different codes and cause failure in importing to Final Cut Pro. If anyone comes across the situation, the best solution is to get aids from MPEG/MPG to FCP converter for Mac, which can help you to convert MPEG group files to FCP compatible video format and then files can be easily imported for editing job.
As we know that Final Cut Pro don't natively support MPG, MPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 files, it can import MPEG-4 files (but need to be rendered once you place them on your timeline) and MOV files (without rendering). Therefore, to import MPG to Final Cut Pro directly, the best way is to convert MPG to Final Cut Pro supported Apple ProRes MOV files.
How to convert MPG to Final Cut Pro(fcp)
    Step 1: Import MPG files
Download the latest version of MPG to Final Cut Pro Converter, install and run. And then, click Add Files to import MPG files to FCP, or you can also drag MPG files directly to MPG to Final Cut Pro directly.
Step 2: Choose output format and directory
You can click the drop-down list of Convert Toto select output format as "Final Cut Pro"-> "Apple ProRes MOV ". After that, click "…" of Save Toto designate a directory to save your converted files.
Step 3: Convert MPG to Final Cut Pro (X)
Click Convert to transcode MPG to MOV for editing in Final Cut Pro.
MPG to Final Cut Pro Converter is a practical tool for you to convert MPG, MPEG files to Final Cut Pro supported MOV files in order to free import MPG to Final Cut Pro (X) , FCE, iMovie on Mac OS X Mountain Lion . Besides, it is also able to convert MPG to other video files AVI, WMV, MP4, MKV FLV, DV, 3GP, ASF, RM etc.

Import unsupported MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 to Final Cut Pro 7/X, Final Cut Express
Summary:If you are looking for the best way to transcode MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 videos to ProRes MOV for FCP 7/X and FCE, you can follow this post, it has offered best solutions for editing MPEG videos on Mac in Final Cut Pro 7/X, Final Cut Express.
    Cases:
The following are two problems when some users import MPEG-1/MPEG-2 to Final Cut:
"I am trying to import MPEG-2 files into Final Cut Pro X. I have the raw files from a Sony Handicam HDR-SR5 as well as raw files from an Sony Handicam MDR-CX560. These files were recorded as MPEG-2 files and copied from the camera hard drives (entire folders were copied containind the MPEG-2 fies) to a local hard drive on my computer. Final Cut Pro X does not recognize the files and will not import them. I have tried to use Compressor to conver the fies. I am using the very latest version that touts being able to export to Final Cut X format. I don't see that option anywhere in the settings."
    Question:
Is there a way to get MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files into Final Cut Pro X without having to convert them?
    Answer:
Don't try to work with (highly compressed) MPEG 2 in FCP X. Use software to convert to ProRes 422 first, it's best codec for final cut pro or final cut express. Life will be much easier for you if you do. ProRes 422 is roughly between 5 and 8 times bigger than native camera footage - sometimes as much as 10 times, I believe, but it's well worth it for editing, effects and playback quality. The time required depends largely on your processor power but 30 mins sounds realistic.
    Software you need:
Pavtube HD Video Converter for Mac
This software can convert MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 to Apple ProRes 422 codec for Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X or Final Cut Expr editing without rendering.
    Step by step guide:
    1. Download and install the best MPEG1/MPEG2 to ProRes Converter and launch it to add your videos to it.
    2. Choose output format. Click on the “Format”> Final Cut Pro, Apple PreRes 422(HQ), Apple PreRes 422, Apple ProRes 422(LT), etc are all the proper choice for you.
    3. Click "Settings" to adjust the parameters as you want, like Video Codec, bit rate, frame rate, Audio codec, sample rate, bit rate, channels. Set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 will be better.
    4. Click Convert button to start MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 to Final Cut friendly Apple ProRes 422 for native editing on Mac OS X.
    5. When the conversion ends, you can run the Final Cut Pro and click File --> Import --> Files to import the resulted MOV files and edit them in FCP easily, you can follow this import video to fcp guide.
From the steps above, I think you got the point to convert and import MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files to Apple ProRes 422 for Final Cut editing, please have a try, this software will solve you MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 importing and editing problems, and then you can import and use your MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 in Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X or Final Cut Express on Mac without any problems.
Now you can get DVD Creator which can help you easily burn video to DVD disc/ISO files.

I am importing a video and in iMovie the video is now white. the audio still plays and I can play the video properly outside of iMovie so any help is good?

I going to recommend again, downloading and installing some video helper applications.
    1. http://perian.org/ (this will add a number of different file types to the ones QuickTime already plays)
    2. http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac (will add more file types to what QuickTime can play)
Either one of these might be necessary to get MPEG Streamclip to export the video. Failing that the only other thing I have found is an obscurve discussion thread on Avid.com:
    http://duc.avid.com/archive/index.php/t-277791.html
I've figured out what the problem is on my end. The video came from Avid on a Windows machine and was encoded with Squeeze. I found out that the 2 seconds of black at the top of the video were at a different frame rate than the rest of the video. I chopped off the 2 seconds of black and started at the first frame of video, exported it with Quicktime Pro and was able successfully view the video in ProTools. Apparently Squeeze will let you create a movie file that has different frame rates within the same movie... This fixed my issue that was exactly as you describe, hopefully it might work for you.
Lastly, you could try converting the video clip using HandBrake

  • Converting worked, but now theres no sound??

so converting the videos in my library into ipod format worked to get them onto my ipod...however the converted versions now have...no sound. i fix one thing and another thing goes wrong...its been like this all day... can someone please tell me how to convert or whatever my videos so i can get them to play on my ipod WITH sound? thanks =(

Neither iTunes nor QuickTime can convert MPEG-1/2 files to MPEG-4 format with audio. MPEG-1/2 files are "muxed," or multiplexed. This means both the audio and video are on one track. iTunes (and QT) fail to see the audio, and only convert the video.
Check out either one of the following third party MPEG-4 video converters...
    Videora iPod Converter
    MPEG Streamclip

  • Why do the MP4 files that I import to Premiere Pro CC have unsynced audio? (Resolved)

I have identified and resolved.the issue. There is a bug with how Premeire Pro handles importing videos with variable frame rate.
Community Memeber Walter.Johnson found a work-around at the bottum of this post, which also has the identification and submission of the bug itself:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1110005?start=40&tstart=0
I had to convert the video with "constant framerate" selected in handbrake. I'm believe the ffmpeg CLI equivilant switch is "-cfr" but I have not tested to be sure.
I can now import videos with synced audio!
I have recorded several hours of footage using a program called XSplit (a screen recording tool).
The files are recorded in a FLV format and I then convert them to MP4 as premiere pro cant read then in FLV.
In a MP4 format I can import the files into Premiere Pro CC and the video looks perfect, but the audio is unsynced. It is also unsynced in non-linear way so it is not something that I can simply unlink and adjust to compensate as it would have to be done manually every minute.
If I import these same MP4s into other video editing programs they import perfectly fine and have no audio sync issues what-so-ever. I only experience this issue in Premeire Pro CC. I can even tested these videos in 6 different media players and they play perfecly fine.
If I convert the files to AVI using ffmpeg or ffmpeg assisted tools it will not import into Premiere Pro CC and gives a "unsupported format or damaged file" error. Once again, this avi can be played and edited in several other programs no problem.
Here are the details about one of these files:
    VIdeo Codec: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
    Video: 1280x720
Audio Codec: mp4a: MPEG-4 ACC LC
    Audio: 44100hz 63 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)
Anyone have any ideas on why the audio is becomming de-synced in Premiere Pro CC only?

I'm happy to announce to you all that my "mp4 importing" issues has been sorted out. Now I import mp4 shot with the same Windows Phone 8 Device into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Only that for the moment, it doesn't play as fast as with ordinary player.
    But how did I get it to work, you may wonder;
I simply installed Itunes on the system, I also installed an app called media monkey. I can't say which of the apps did the magic but the next time I tried to import mp4 files into Premiere Pro after these installations, it imported seamlessly.
Obviously there's a link between the required codecs and the itunes itself.
You may want to try it and hope it works for you.
Kindly inform us if it works.
    Thank you all.
    Cheers.
