Privacy Star

Good morning everyone!
On monday 2/7, i downloaded a"free" app from blackberry world. The app was Privacy star. It clearly stated it was free. On 2/9 i went to use this app and got a window asking for permission to have my carrier charge my account $2.99----I declined. After I declined, another window popped up saying my app wpuld terminate in 5 days.
After numerous e-mails with Privacy star, it turns out that the app is not $2.99, but $2.99 per month.
Why does blackberry list this app as "free". I cant help believe that this is false advertising on behalf of Blackberry & the app mfr.
I have since deleted the app from my phone.
BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello lumbndnguy38,
Applications can be searched in the Android Market. We offer Call & Message blocking which is a free service that will allow you to block up to five 10-digit numbers from calling you. You will no longer receive calls, texts, or harassing images from this Phone Number.

  • Remove calling features - Answer 1571 and Privacy ...

I've just ordered a new connection, and decided to opt into the "free" calling features Answer 1571 and Privacy at Home. After completing the order I was notified by email that these features are only free under certain conditions, otherwise there's an additional monthly charge. This was probably mentioned somewhere while I was ordering it, but I didn't see it so I'm guessing it was buried in small print.
I'd like to opt out of these calling features to avoid having to pay any additional charges, but I can't find any information on how to change which calling features I'm subscribed to. Please can you let me know how to turn off Answer 1571 and Privacy at Home.
I'd also like to make a suggestion: You should make it clear to your customers that there are hidden charges associated with these "free" services before they place their orders.
    -Mike

You may be able to visit www.bt.com/myaccount. there is a link on there to changing your calling features, if not it's a call to 150

  • Privacy - remove all website data doesn't work

    Hi all,
when I choose privacy > remove all website data - it doesn't work and all the data remains.... (details says many are in cache)
Q: why is this and how to I remove the data?

A well known contributor here wrote the following ...
Cookies have acquired a worse reputation than they deserve.   They cannot hold any executable code, they just hold data and then, only data the user has provided.   You could say they're as dangerous as you let them become.
And that I think sums it up.    Clearing all website data is counter productive insofar as it removes many cookies that do a useful job and save you time.
Just take care where you browse, use private browsing if you are unsure and that should be enough.   As an option, I bought an app called 'Cookie'. It's about £10 and I found it very good for a whole range of other cookies like databases and flash cookies.   Read about it at ...
Download Cookie for Mac - Protect your online privacy. MacUpdate.com
    Thanks for the star.

  • Do I still have BT Privacy

I have had Bt Privacy for a couple of years, but I have started getting a lot of unsolicited calls lately.  I did upgrade my calls and broadband package about a month ago and I am wondering if I still have Bt Privacy.  I have looked in MyBT online but i cannot find out there. There is a link to change calling features but it says that I have an outstanding order on my account so It cannot proceed. I did phone up about this outstanding orderand Bt said that they would remove it but its still there. How can I find out if I still have it?

    Hi wendyc,
I'll be happy to have a look over your account and check if you are still signed up.
Could you drop me in an email please with your BT account and telephone number along with a link back to this thread.
Just send using the contact us form in my profile under the 'about me' section.

  • Caller Display disappeared after I ordered Privacy...

I have always had Caller Display as a call feature. I recently found out that you can have Caller display for free under Privacy at Home, so I cancelled the paid feature and ordered Privacy at Home instead. I have received written confirmation from BT, and Caller Display disappeared, despite having Privacy at Home!! I dialled *#234# and received the message that "the service requested is not available". I want Caller Display even if I have to pay for it, but when I logged onto Change Calling features, I could not find the option "Caller Display". What's happening? Can someone help?

Seems that since you ordered privacy on line they have forgot to add the caller display option.
Give the service dept a call on 0800 800 150, and explain what has happened.

On many sites the bookmarks/bookmark this page tab does nothing when activated. On these sites the bookmark "star" on the

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • BT Privacy

    My first post....hello all!
Here's a good one I've just come across. I want to switch off the BT Privacy (TPS + Caller Display) and the only way I appear to be able to do this is to bring my calls back to BT and that is not something I'm prepared to do.
There is nothing in any T&C that indicate this and I consider it to be a bit of an "unfair practice"!
I do not make calls on my BT line, my calls and broadband are provided by an alternative provider that not only am I 100% happy with, the calls + broadband are cheaper than BT!

I believe that to take it off your account you would just need to contact the service dept on 0800 800 150 (or 150 from a bt line)
The point you make about being charged is only when you have the facility, as the T&C say.
"customers who do not make some chargeable calls with BT will be charged for BT Caller Display. Customers with other call providers can still benefit from BT Caller Display at no extra cost if the following calls are made. Customers who are billed monthly must make at least two chargeable calls with BT in that month, other wise BT reserves the right to charge £2.59 a month for BT Caller Display.
    it goes on to say
"Alternatively, if you'd like to make one-off calls that are chargeable to your BT bill then simply dial the numbers 1280 before you dial the phone number you wish to call"
So yes caller display is free providing you make a minimum of 2 calls, so to me 2 calls at maybe 10p a call therefore caller display would be in your situation 20p a month.

  • Can't clear location bar deleting only works temporarily privacy setting changes have no effect either

I have tried to clear location bar by deleting but items reappear when I hit the down arrow again. Changing privacy location bar setting to Nothing does not effect the drop downs, they are still there, clearing history doesn't remove them either. Using Firefox 3.6.13

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.<br />
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.<br />
This will open the Edit This Bookmark dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark.<br />
