Private appointments in ical?

Does iCal on iOS 6 support private appointments? If not when using a local calendar, does it support it when syncing with an Exchange server?
iCal on Mac now supports private appoitments after years of not supporting it. I was hoping that iOS 6 finally solved this architectural mistake on iOS too, but whenlooking at a local calendar on an updated iPad it did not work. I wonder if I did something wrong or if it is still not fixed.

  • Snow Leopard: iCal doesn't show private appointments of as booked !

    Hi Apple-Dev-Team,
one HUGE issue with the new Exchange iCal implementation: I cannot see if a collegue has an appointment at a given time because it won't display private entrys!! that's an absolute no-go for any workgroup/team or enterprise using macs with iCal !!
Please tell me if i've missed some option... If not it would be absolutely necessery for us and all of our customers to see private appointments in iCal because everybody uses its calendar to manage private appointments as well...
I love iCal/Mail much more than Entourage, so it would be really nice if one could fix this issue...
    Thanks a lot!

  • Add appointments to iCal  from PC?

I gave my wife a pass word to add appointments to my published calendar. She has a PC. Can she post new appointments from her PC on my calendar? How?

It would be rather difficult to add, delete or modify data on a published calendar, because—by definition—it is a read-only object. And that's true, regardless of whether it is published through .Mac or on a public or private WebDAV server.
iCal 3, which ships with Mac OS X 10.5 in five or so months will allow for sharing calendars through iCal Server or any CalDAV compliant equivalent. But, you'll have to wait until then to do so, and maybe even longer for someone to ship a CalDAV compliant PC equivalent to the iCal client.

  • HT4436 Why don't all my contacts and calendar events on my iMac (version 10.7.4) stream onto iCloud? For instance, there are 470 entries in my address book but only 270 on iCloud. And not all my appointments in iCal are transferred.

Why don't all my contacts and calendar events on my iMac (version 10.7.4) stream onto iCloud? For instance, there are 470 entries in my address book but only 270 on iCloud. And not all my appointments in iCal are transferred either.
I have the same problem transfering Address book on iMac to contacts on iPhone (old version 3G - on iCloud). this is a hard wired connection

Might you have 200 entries in On My Mac groups and some of your appointments in On My Mac calendars?

  • Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?

I never found a post with a sufficient answer to this question. However, it seems as though I may have stumbled on a resolution myself.
iCal has it's own default calendars: Home and Work. I use MobileMe so the MoblieMe calendar is listed there as well. I also have an iPhone 4. I wanted all calendars to syncronize automatically when I create a new appointment on any of the 3 locations (laptop, cloud, or phone). I found that when create a new event in iCal on my macbook pro, it wouldn't update with mobileme or my phone. This was because when I double click to create a new event, iCal automatically puts the new event into my "Home" calendar, even though it was unchecked and not highlighted. As soon as I double click to create the new event, iCal's default kicks in and the Home calendar in the "On My Mac" section suddenly becomes checked and highlighted all by itself and the new event is automatically placed there, never to be updated with the cloud or on my phone.
I think the problem may be related to something I read under "How Do I Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?" There a solution given was that the uppermost calendar was being defaulted to and it was suggested to drag the desired calendar to the uppermost position. None of my calendars would drag anywhere. However, I find that if I uncheck Home and Work in the column on the left under "On My Mac" AND then click the arrow so those two calendars are hidden (very important), and then check and highlight the only showing calendar: MobileMe, that (so far) when I doulbe click to create a new event, a new event is created in the MobileMe calendar, and Home and/or Work under the "On My Mac" section never becomes checked or highlighted. So the new event is created only in the MobileMe calendar listed and updates on my laptop, in the cloud, and on my phone.
So far that has been my experience; but, it has been only minutes since I tried that, so let's see what happens after a couple of weeks or so of normal use and see if the problem is actually resolved.

I have been searching for this information for weeks now -- thank you!
This works for Google Calendar as well as for Mobile Me. I'm going to type a little more information here to see if I can help this answer come up more quickly for other users when they keyword search as I was doing.
This answer helped me reset and change the default calendar for iCal. I can now set my Google Calendar as the default calendar in iCal. When I create a new event in iCal, it syncs to Google Calendar as the default calendar without having to choose another calendar. All my iCal new events now go directly to Google Calendar and sync to my iPhone and iPad. I couldn't move the gmail google calendar to the top position, and just unchecking Home and Work didn't change where new events defaulted. Now my new events automatically go from iCal to google calendar, and I don't lose track of any events. I think you can set any calendar as the default iCal calendar for new events using this approach.

  • Duplicate appointments in iCal from Mail

When I open an email .vcs attachment in Mail 1.3.11 it places 2 appointments in iCal 1.5.5
I found the script to remove duplicates but I am still having the same problem when I open .vcs attachment in Mail

    Hello Alex,
I've been working on trying to get .vcs files from my email into iCal using Applescript, and have written a script that I can drop the .vcs files onto which will then import them into the calendar.... Here is a link to my post in the Applescript forum regarding this...
Tyson Brown, "Using Applescript to edit a .vcs file" #3, 12:46pm Nov 3, 2005 CDT
I THINK this will work to get you to the post. If not, let me know and I can drop you a copy of the script. I don't think the script will suit your needs "off the shelf" but I think there would only need to be one modification to it so that it will work for you.... Right now I have it set up to import the same event into two different calendars. All that needs to happen is for me to change it so that it only imports to 1 calendar. Let me know if you are not an Applescripter, and I will see if I can whip those changes off for you....

  • Private appointments in calendar

I can't find anywhere where to set an appointment as private. I keep looking for it because it's extremely hard to believe this would be left out. Our organization mandates, as I'm sure others do, to keep private appointments in your calendar as well so that others know when you will be out for a doctor's appointments, etc without showing detailed personal information. It's crucial so that others know when meetings can be scheduled, etc.
You can do this easily with any other mobile phone that uses active sync for exchange. I also used this feature when out on the road setting up appointments. If I can't create private appointments, I would have to go back to early 2000 by typing it in notes and then create the private appointments when I get into the office. Huge step backwards.
Anyone find it or have a solution?
    Thanks!

This is critical to anyone in a business environment using an iPhone with Exchange.
For those of you that don't understand, setting an event as "private" works best with shared calendars in Exchange. Lets say I allow my bosses to 'see' my calendar. They can technically see everything in detail except for the stuff that's 'private'. The private events appear as mysterious, blocked out time. And that's how it should be. There needs to be a separation of work and personal time in Calendars. And flagging something as Private in Exchange accomplishes this task.
I'm hoping the iPhone guys see this. It's a small checkbox that I'm sure won't take too much effort to release. But adds great relief in the corporate world.

  • Private Appointments vs TO-DO Bar

    Hey Folks,
It seems Microsoft has taken away the ability of the user to hide details of private appointments (in Outlook 2013) on the TO-DO bar, which is clearly annoying for uses who work side-to-side with other colleagues and wouldn't like to expose the tittle and
contents of appointments as easy as on the to-do bar.
Is there any way (such as on office 2010) where user had the checkbox to hide these details, I have browsed around and was unable to find such funcionality. Is there any work around this issue? Is this by any chance coming back?
As for me is a major issue I might have to return to office 2010.

    Hi,
Since Outlook 2013, some of the functionalities of the To-Do Bar is no longer available, including the To-Do Bar Options.
Currently we don't have a method to disable the details of Private Items in the To-Do Bar.

  • How Do I Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?

I have two calendars in iCal. How can I set one to be the default when I create new appointments?

I have the same problem. I have an "Automator" calendar listed under "On My Mac" and my personal calendar listed under "Google Calendar"
I want New Events to default to my personal calendar under "Google Calendars" but the "Automator" calendar is first in the list and I am not able to reorder them (tried drag and drop and renaming etc). And, since I have automator scripts running frequently the Automator calendar is usually the last calendar 'used.'
I cannot find any way to set my personal calendar under "Google Calendars" to be the default for New Events....am I missing something here?

  • Why don't private appointments synched from Outlook 2011 (for Mac) show up on my iPad2?

I have an iPad2, and have upgraded to iOS5. I sync my mail/calendar from Outlook 2011 for Mac. Recently (after the upgrade to iOS5), I noticed that the appointments marked "private" in Outlook no longer sync to my iPad, though they do sync to my iPhone 4 (also running iOS5).
    Any suggestions?

I am a doofus. All I needed to do was go into settings, click on keynote and turn iCloud on in keynote.

  • How do i create appointments in ical

I want to create appointments on multiple calendars at the same time.

    Andrew,
If you search for "publish calendar" at Apple Support, you will get these and other helpful articles to get you on track:
Publishing your calendar on the Internet
Publishing a password-protected iCal calendar to iDisk
iCal: About .Mac Publish and .Mac Sync
If you have any questions after reading that information, let us know what they are.
The Calendars that you create will sync with your iPod through the iTunes application. When you connect your iPod to the computer iTunes displays the iPod in the source pane. Click on the iPod, then the "Contacts" tab, and you will have choices for how you wish to sync your calendars on the iPod.
    ;~)

  • Private Events in iCal and Zimbra

    Hi,
I use iCal in 10.6.2 and Zimbra server at work. I don't see an option in iCal to make events private, though I have heard that there should be a button on the edit pane to enable that. If I create the event on the Zimbra web interface I CAN get a private event to work - the problem is when I create the event via iCal - there does not seem to be an option there. Any ideas? Is it a config on the ZImbra side? OS X Terminal command?
    Thanks

I don't think iCal does this. Make a suggestion to Apple:

  • Office calendar on outlook, private one in ical on Mac both on iphone 3G

My iphone 3G finally arrived and now i want to use my ical (Mac book pro, latest OS) for private events and the office Outlook 2003 (XP pro). Both calendars should appear on my iphone (and on the Mac book) and of course no private events should appear on my office account, which is open to the team. Is this possible?
    Thanks, Oliver

Thank you so much for your help!  Your suggestion resolved my issue.
I also made sure to set my iCal preferences to use iCloud Home for my default calendar as well as reminders.
    Thanks again!
