Private calendar appointments?, private calendar appointments?

I really like the ios5 update on my iphone 4, but there is still one integration issue with outlook calendars that I either cannot fiture out or is not present. That is, how can one create an appointment on an iphone that shows up as private when synched to my workplaces outlook calendar?

If you Google "can't mark an appointment private on iPhone/iPad/iOS" you will find that there are thousands and thousands of people that are asking for this feature since 2008, and Apple seems resolved to ignore the outcry.
The point of the feature, and the reason calendar collaboration actually *works* as a practical matter, is to allow people who you share your calendar with to see that you're busy at a certain time of day.  In plenty of cases, the details are private (a doctor's appointment, travel reservation details, a romantic getaway with your spouse, your mom's birthday, your anniversary, etc.)
Why won't Apple add this incredibly important and useful feature to the calendar? Is there some strategic decision at work here?  If so, it's above my pay grade; iOS is beloved and adopted by millions of people.
Millions of people use MS Exchange at work.  iOS, in fact, integrates beautifully with Exchange in almost every other way.  Apple does not have a corporate groupware product that competes with Exchange.  So why not remove one of the last barriers holding people back from ditching BlackBerries, or for that matter, using their iPads at work n a more meaningful way?  It's really puzzling.
There are dozens of other forums with this exact same sentiment. We know that Apple loves the user and values the quality of their experience.
Please, we, the users, implore you, Finish this last mile for us. Add the "Private" checkbox to calendar appointments for Exchange calendars. Or at least do us the courtest of responding with an answer as to why you won't.

  • How to display private calendar appointments in Sharepoint calendar view

I found this post about how to setup a sharepoint calendar as a personal calendar within Sharepoint 2013.
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/83366/view-outlook-calendar-in-sharepoint-2013
It works great, but when the logged in person opens it the private calendar appointments only show as "busy" and don't show the details of the appointment. Since the person who's viewing it is the person logged in I would think it would allow the
person to see their own calendar appointments.
Is there a way to allow private appointments to show details in this view?

    Hi,
As I understand you would like to show Exchange calendar contents on SharePoint calendar.
I found a similar thread for your reference:

  • Private appointments in calendar

I can't find anywhere where to set an appointment as private. I keep looking for it because it's extremely hard to believe this would be left out. Our organization mandates, as I'm sure others do, to keep private appointments in your calendar as well so that others know when you will be out for a doctor's appointments, etc without showing detailed personal information. It's crucial so that others know when meetings can be scheduled, etc.
You can do this easily with any other mobile phone that uses active sync for exchange. I also used this feature when out on the road setting up appointments. If I can't create private appointments, I would have to go back to early 2000 by typing it in notes and then create the private appointments when I get into the office. Huge step backwards.
Anyone find it or have a solution?
    Thanks!

This is critical to anyone in a business environment using an iPhone with Exchange.
For those of you that don't understand, setting an event as "private" works best with shared calendars in Exchange. Lets say I allow my bosses to 'see' my calendar. They can technically see everything in detail except for the stuff that's 'private'. The private events appear as mysterious, blocked out time. And that's how it should be. There needs to be a separation of work and personal time in Calendars. And flagging something as Private in Exchange accomplishes this task.
I'm hoping the iPhone guys see this. It's a small checkbox that I'm sure won't take too much effort to release. But adds great relief in the corporate world.

  • Calendar appointments private

In the fields to record appointments in the calendar (with Exchange) is a private event can be defined in this way in a single calendar shared a commitment is visible but not the content.
why not 'possible to iphone 4s?
    What can in Android?

  • Private appointments in bridge calendar

There doesn't seem to be any way to mark an appointment as private in the bridge calendar.  The option exists on the Blackberry, but not on the Playbook.  This is a useful feature when other people have access to your calendar (BES, Exchange server).

    Cheers,
RandomHero, I appreciate that you're posting into a lot of different threads thanking us all for our feedback and telling us that you're constantly improving your products, but I would much rather see actual improvements to the product.  At the very least, it would be nice if RIM could actually let us know which improvements are being considered and how far down the line they are from actually being implemented.
The Playbook is basically an overpriced toy for me right now.  I bought it because it was supposed to be a "professional grade" business tool but there is absolutely nothing on it that makes me more productive than just having my Blackberry phone.  I realize it's a new product and I'm willing to wait a little while for updates, but how long do I have to wait?  Are we talking weeks, months, years?
It's been two weeks since I bought it already and all I've heard from RIM so far is "that feature is not supported on the Playbook" on several support calls and now a thank you from you.  I've heard from developers that they're waiting for a native development kit to be released so they can port their apps.  None of that is very encouraging to me.

  • Private appointments with Iphone-Calendar

How can I mark a private appointment in my calendar as "Private". I want et to be labelled "private", when my colleagues open my shared calender in Outlook. Is it possible with the Iphone, or do I really need to add the appointment at my pc to mark it as "private". Please help. Thanks.

Again, thanks for your reply, allthough it doesn't solve my problem
I have now posted the following text at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html (hopefully they will add the "!privat-flag-option" in the upcoming softwareupdate):
"I recently became the lucky owner of a brand new Iphone 3Gs. But I'm very surpriced, that it is not possible til flag an oppointment in the calendar as "private". This is absolutely a "need-to-have", if the Iphone is supposed to be used as a businessphone.
Is there a particular reason why Apple has not included this option?"

  • Snow Leopard: iCal doesn't show private appointments of as booked !

    Hi Apple-Dev-Team,
one HUGE issue with the new Exchange iCal implementation: I cannot see if a collegue has an appointment at a given time because it won't display private entrys!! that's an absolute no-go for any workgroup/team or enterprise using macs with iCal !!
Please tell me if i've missed some option... If not it would be absolutely necessery for us and all of our customers to see private appointments in iCal because everybody uses its calendar to manage private appointments as well...
I love iCal/Mail much more than Entourage, so it would be really nice if one could fix this issue...
    Thanks a lot!

  • Why don't private appointments synched from Outlook 2011 (for Mac) show up on my iPad2?

I have an iPad2, and have upgraded to iOS5. I sync my mail/calendar from Outlook 2011 for Mac. Recently (after the upgrade to iOS5), I noticed that the appointments marked "private" in Outlook no longer sync to my iPad, though they do sync to my iPhone 4 (also running iOS5).
    Any suggestions?

I am a doofus. All I needed to do was go into settings, click on keynote and turn iCloud on in keynote.

  • IOS 8.1 Calendar not sending new appointments to google calendar

My sync wtih Google has been pretty steady since the upgrade- but the last few days I am seeing appointments set on my mac are sent down to google calendar but not up to my iPhone 5.  Similarly, new appointments going to my phone are not going down to Google.  Nothing I know of changed in my setup.  ONly other thing is that I am now getting a message in mail when I delete that items cannot be moved- started about the same time.
MB Air Yosemite (all updates in)
    iPhone 5 iOS8.1 current
Private domain calendar and mail hosted at Google.
    Any help appreciated

same problem here... seems MY only solution that seems to work is to do a hard reboot of iphone and ipad... if I enter an event on ipad, it does not show up on iphone... if I do hard reboot on iphone AFTER entering the event on ipad, it then shows up on iphone... ughhh...

  • Private appointments in ical?

Does iCal on iOS 6 support private appointments? If not when using a local calendar, does it support it when syncing with an Exchange server?
iCal on Mac now supports private appoitments after years of not supporting it. I was hoping that iOS 6 finally solved this architectural mistake on iOS too, but whenlooking at a local calendar on an updated iPad it did not work. I wonder if I did something wrong or if it is still not fixed.

  • Bad appointments in subscribed group calendar

I've successfully gotten Leopard server running, with the appropriate services for my organization. Currently I'm testing it and seem to have found a slight problem.
Adding events to a group calendar works like a charm, but when I subscribed to the group calendar via iCal one date has been moved. I have a similar entry on a seperate personal calendar, but the two events are not exactly identical. They are set for Dec 14 2007. one is called "birthday" and the other is "birthday!" for different times on the same date. Looking at the calendar via the web, everything looks fine, but in iCal, the imported date has been moved to Dec 13 2007, while all other entries are properly posted to their correct dates.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

It's really odd, looking through it, the only appointments that "slide" (nice way to put it btw ) were the ones that had "birthday" in them. Another one that shared a title with my private calendar didn't. This is one huge disappointing bug. I hate to say it, but as great as a lot of the new features are it feels like some of these shouldn't have made it past beta, especially if a calendar can't keep dates straight.
    Cheers!

  • Since the upgrade i am unable to move calendar appointments permanently.

I used to be able to move my appointments on my calendar from one day to another but since the upgrade after i move them they seem to revert back to the initial position. I have also noticed that my iPhone & iPad calendars no longer automatically synchronises with my Mac calendar. Any ideas?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

  • Sharing calender for public appointments only not anything private

I'm looking for a way to share my calender in outlook 2010 or office 365 with a friend so that :
    1)  my calendar shows up in my friend's Iphone for all my public appointments but not anything I mark as Private .
    2) my friend can add appointments in my calender i shared with her so that   i can either  "approve" or "reject" the added appointments in my calender
I'm thinking this feature must be there for people with Assistants. I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to do this
    Thank you

    Hello,
You can set delegate settings in Outlook by referring the following article:

  • My iPhone 4 suddenly lost all of my appointments on the calendar, any suggestions how to fix this?

MY iPhone 4 suddenly lost all my appointments on the calendar, suggestions on how to fix this?

HI, what exactly makes you think it's a Virus?
Where did you download them from?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Appointments I make for others show "Private Appointment" in Scheduling Assistant when I attempt to create another appointment for my manager, the previous appointment that I created, and they accepted, shows as a "Private Appointment".
All other items show full details of their calendar in Scheduling Assistant.
I have been granted full access to their Exchange account and full permissions to their calendar, and yet the issue still exist.
Any Idea on how to clear this problem, possibly from the shell?
