Private IP Access from WWW

Here is the deal. I have a device on my local network which I can access via safari by typing in the IP address. Works great. I would like to access this IP address when outside my home network. I went to my TC (advanced, Port Mapping, Personal WebSharing) and attempted to forward port 80 to the specific IP but it did not work. Any ideas?

When accessing this device from the Internet, you will need the Public (WAN-side) IP Address of your TC, not the Private (LAN-side) IP Address of the device itself. So, for example, if your Public IP is 123.456.789.000, you would enter http:\\123.456.789.000\ in the web browser on the remote client.

• What about ftp-access from www?

Hi folks,
first I want to say, I browsed the forum since May 08.
Second please excuse my English.
I'm still trying to set up TC for FTP access from www.
afp works but what about ftp? -
I talk about ftp (RFC959) described in 1985! Why it does not work in a 2008 manufactured product?
I do not demand sftp but I never heard about a company that sells networking products which do not support ftp forwarding...
Apple -that's poor performance.
Hundreds of users are still waiting for firmware update.
Please publish the firmware, if your lack of resources doesn't allow to solve this problem!
Does anybody has an idea to access TC from WAN?
<Edited by Moderator>
Thx

As you have mentioned that your ISP is an DSL provider, Login to the setup page of your Router and click on the status tab and check if the Internet IP address.
Have you enable the FTP feature on your Router? If not then login to the setup page of your Router and click on the storage tab and below Enable "FTP Server" and let the FTP Port be 21 and below select the folder which you want to access it from Internet and click on save settings... Then click on the Administration tab and check for the "Server Internet IP Address" and also below check if Anonymous FTP access is it Enable or Disable.If you wish to allow anonymous Internet access then you need to Enable it or let it be Disable and click on save settings...
To access your FTP server from Internet note down the WAN IP, So it should be ftp://ftp.wan-ip:21. This should allow you to access your drive from the remote location.

• IP Camera-How to get access from www

I bought a couple of network cameras. I have the cameras set up and have access on my LAN. My network uses my G5 with Airport Extreme as a Gateway through a cable modem. My problem is how can I port map my setup since I don't have a Base station. I have read the instructions that have been posted but I don't see how to do it when my Mac is the base station. My cameras are assigned static IP's of 10.0.2.9 and 10.0.2.8 and pull up fine locally. All the camera instructions talk about setting up Routers. What do I need to do to access these on my work computer or anywhere else on the www. I am also using DHCP on my computer. Thanks for any help

I have been setting up security cameras with my PowerMac G5 and Airport Extreme. You don't need a wireless hub, your Extreme shoud do the job just fine. One thinhg you might want to consider first is buying a software package that controls the cameras on a Mac. I am using Security Spy and have had good results. Network cameras generally do not have the software for Macs so you need something that will tie them together. I have my modem hooked in to the Airport Extreme and all my internet information stored in it instead of my computer. I have a ethernet switch plugged into the LAN connection with all of my cameras plugged into the switch also. What this does is extend the network to include the cameras. I access all of this with the airport card in my computer. I have no direct connection, only wireless. As far as accessing your cameras from the web you need to tell the Airport where to send the incoming traffic. If you get Security Spy you only have to put in one address since it has a built in web server. If don't want to buy the software then you will have to setup a port map for each camera. That can be found in Airport Admin Utility under the Port Mapping tab. Your public port should be 80, your private IP address will be your computers address if you are using Security Spy or the cameras address if you are not, and the private port shoould be 8000. If you have 2 cameras you may have to set up 2 port maps. I have never tried it without Security Spy so I can't be positive about the setup. I hope this has helped some.

Thank you

There is an option called restricted distribution which is available for DPS Enterprise Customers if you wish to use restricted access via Apple App store. Go though the following article to know more : http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/restricted-distribution-with-d igital-publishing-suite.html
You can also create Enterprise Signed Builds using DPS Enterprise License to distribute content directly to company employees without going though Apple App Store. You can choose which ever option is best for you.

• Tables stored in memory but may be accessed from other sessions

Dear Oracle experts,
it may be a stupid question but I'm searching for the best possibility to create a kind of temporary table which may be accessed from other sessions.
Could you provide some hints/ catchwords to speed up my recherches.
Thank you very much,
Daniel

I fear that the caching is not suitable for my case because of the reasons decribed in my other postings...First of all I don't think that you need to worry about the effectiveness of the caching in your particular case. In addition Oracle is very clever at when to actually write the dirty blocks from the buffer cache to the disks, so if your amount of data written to the result table is fairly small and no other activity is going on your system it won't get written to disk immediately anyway but stay in memory until any of the conditions are met that trigger the database writer to flush the blocks to disk.
But there are options you could consider if you want to avoid as much of the overhead as possible and to write the results of your calculation to the result table as fast as possible.
You could use direct-path inserts (INSERT /*+ APPEND */) and set the result table to "NOLOGGING". This way no undo and minimum redo is generated.
Note however that there are certain caveats and restrictions to consider when using such an approach, e.g. your result table won't be recoverable (which you say is OK), only one direct-path insert is allowed simultaneously (it blocks the table exclusively, no other DML possible until you commit/rollback the transaction), and the direct-path insert has some restrictions. If any of these apply that prevent the direct-path operation then it silently falls back to "conventional" insert mode which generates undo and redo. One of the more annoying restrictions is that you can't read from a table that has been written to in direct-path mode within the same transaction, you first have to commit the transaction, otherwise you get "ORA-12838: cannot read/modify an object after modifying it in parallel". This means by simply adding the APPEND hint you might break existing logic.
Finally the direct-path insert never re-uses free space in blocks below the current high-water mark, which means if you perform a direct-path insert and afterwards delete rows from the table and repeat again a direct-path insert operation your segment will grow and the empty space in the already used blocks won't get re-used. Best way would be to truncate the table rather than deleting rows from it.
There are workarounds available to overcome some of these direct-path insert limitations (exclusive lock, truncate instead of delete etc.), like using a partitioned table (if you have a suitable edition/license), because direct-path inserts can be restricted to partitions. In this case you can do simultaneous direct-path inserts if you use different partitions, but you need then some kind of logic that determines which partition to use.

• Advice needed on fast streaming/access from external HD (Video/Music apps)

Hello,
I'm a computer musician and have reached the max on my internal SATA drive, and thus I'm looking for an effective, extra-fast external HD capable of intense sample streaming (i.e. quickly accessing many small files from different parts of the drive at once). I'm not looking for write speed, as that does not concern me. The main concern is "read speed."
In my search I came across this eSATA drive from segate which seems to have been designed with my needs in mind: http://www.creativemac.com/articles/...e.jsp?id=53423
However, it takes PCI 2.2, while us dual G5 users only have PCI-X, correct? Does this mean this particular eSATA drive will not work in my system? Are there any eSATA drives/enclosures that were designed specifically for PCI-X? Is eSATA worth it when compared with FW800 in my line of work? (I already own a Lacie FW88 drive as a backup drive, but can switch its application if needed). What is the best technology for fast streaming/access from an external HD?
I'm sorry if this topic has already been covered, but in my search I was unable to find any topics specifically regarding this type of use of an external HD.
I thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

You probably want to look at an "e-SATA" Raid. The November ish of Macworld has a review of several "Mac friendly" units"

• When accessed from Firewall, the OSB WSDL is inserting schemalocation with HTTP port instead of HTTPS

We have OSB service and we are able to access over firewall. Also the WSDL, Schemas etc., But when we external users access the WSDL, they are not able to get complete content i.e schemas are not imported.
Reason is WSDL has http (<import schemaLocation="http://test.com:80/xxxxxx/Proxy/schema") with port no 80 instead of https (<import schemaLocation="https://test.com/xxxxxx/Proxy/schema") .
Since we don't specify the complete schema location in WSDL, how does WSDL include the complete schema path? And how to change it https path instead of http?

Namaste,
Sorry for the delayed response.
Yet, my one query is not answered.
Q:Are you ABLE to get the Desired path in Endpoint URL(https) as well?
Explanation:
What I mean is, When the external users access the WSDL (I am assuming External Users are able to access WSDL through Firewall),
As you have mentioned that XSD imports have HTTP instead of HTTPS, but how about the soap:address location? Even this points to HTTP instead of HTTPS?
(Ex:
<wsdl:service name="CaduceusSiteService">
<wsdl:port name="site_pt" binding="tns:site_pttBinding">
<soap:address location="https://www.test.com/test123"/> ---> is this HTTP or HTTPS?
</wsdl:port>
</wsdl:service>
BTW, did you set, HTTP Transport Configuration --> HTTPS required parameter to "YES"? (This is a prerequisite).
We had a similar issue, where we had HTTP instead of HTTPS when WSDL accessed from Firewall.
However, after lot of struggle, we got it worked after changing Firewall (MS TMG) settings to support for "text/xml".
I think, it could be the same settings needed to done in your case too. Please do check the firewall settings.

how can i deal with this problem? (i know it will be ok if i messy all the viriables and method of settingChart into the ShowChart class, but it seems not a nice way...)
thanks

Below is an example of an inner class field 'masking' the name of the outerclass field. So to access the outerclass you use OuterClass.this and then the field of that class...
public class OuterClass {
private int value = 1;
class InnerClass {
int value = 2;
public InnerClass() {
doStuff();
void doStuff() {
this.value++;
OuterClass.this.value++;
}Hope that helps...

some area stupid thing happening, after accessing from RUN like \\networkdrive then it will open successfully and show all the shared folder. When we

• I HAVE AN IPAD 2 WITH WIFI ONLY, CAN I GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM ANY SMARTPHONE, OR DO I NEED A SPECIFIC PHONE FOR THIS?

i ave an ipad 2 with wifi only, can i get internet access from any cell phone, or do i need a specific phone or type of phone

I received an iPad 2 for Christmas (the 1st Apple item I've ever owned!) and own a Nokia N95 8GB mobile (that's pretty much on its last legs/ready to die any day).
On the Nokia I've got 2 apps (downloaded from/via Nokia's 'Ovi' app store): JoikuSpot & HandyWi. Both are the free versions.
I've not used HandyWi much - if at all - but JoikuSpot has been great. Basically, it creates a wifi hotspot (as pjl123 mentioned) in a couple of straightforward steps, and allows a few devices to be connected. It displays who/what is connected at a given time - so you can check if the guy having coffee behind you is piggybacking your hotspot or not! - data packets sent received etc.
The paid version has the benefit of allowing you to secure the hotspot and other security features. Their website is www.joiku.com, FYI.
Given how slow behind the 8 ball Nokia has been, their phones are getting cheaper and cheaper - given Joiku's meant to work with Nokia S60, Symbian ^3, Maemo, Meego & Sony Ericsson S60, this might be a cost effective option.
Ps. Ah! One more thing - Joiku's website specifies that 3G must be used; that WAP will not work. Good luck, enjoy!

• 3102 question - access from cell phone

Hello,
I am thinking about buying a SPA3102 after seeing the comments that you can access it from a cell phone or other landline.
My wife's family is overseas, and I want to use the free international calling from my Voip provider when she is calling from her cell phone or from her job.
I want to verify it will work with the following scenario.
I do not have any PTSN phone service. I only have voip service.
I do have a voip service with unlimited international calling.
Can I configure one of the ports on the 3102 with my current voip provider, and provision the second port on the 3102 to use another voip service (such as gizmo5 etc..). My wife would call the gizmo number from her cell phone, enter a pin, and be able to dial internationally via the free international voip service?
As an alternative, is there anyway of doing this with just the single voip provider (and not worry about the second number)?
I just switched to my current voip service because ATT canceled CallVantage. I am not very happy with the service, but I selected it because it was the only one with unlimited calling to South America, and had the ability to dial an access number to call free from a cell phone.
I'd rather get a new voip service that has better quality, even if they don't have the cell phone access, if I can get the celll access from the 3102.
Thanks in advance.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

The SPA3102 doesn't allow voip-to-voip call bridging. It only allows bridging a voip call with a pstn line (FXO port) call. You possibly could use the SPA3102 to bridge a call to another voip service if you interface the other service's ata to the FXO port of the SPA3102. Even if you do that it is not quite optimal and you may have problems.
Some voip providers do not allow you to configure your own adapter and insist that you use a locked adapter that they provide. Others do not have this restriction.
When calling South America with VoIP you can encounter some severe quality problems depending on the voip provider and the provider they use to route and terminate the call. Day of the week and time of day can also make a significant difference. This probably has something to do with the bandwidth available to the provider on the long haul to South America.
One nice advantage of the SPA3102 is that you can setup up to four additional outgoing only providers on the adapter and this allows you to use additional pay-as-you-go (pay per minute) providers and have a choice in calling.
I would try different providers to sample the voice quality to the destination(s) you are calling to find the right combination of cost vs voice quality.
Four pay-as-you-go (pay per minute) providers to check out are CallCentric, Future-Nine, CallWithUs, and OneSuite. Future-Nine and Callwithus have different quality levels (termination routes) that you can specify when you dial.
The providers also have "access numbers" that you can call without having to use a pin although some have more numbers than others and with Future-Nine you can also access their "calling card" function thru SipBroker's access numbers. Access numbers are nice because you can use them without actually having a physical voip service.
With CallCentric you can also get a CallCentric DID (incoming number) and setup your own private incoming number as an access number. CallCentric also has some South American DID's that you can setup as your own private access number..

• RD Web Access From The Internet/External

I’m requesting help with accessing from the internet (external web) a RD Web Access Connection (SSL) that I setup and configured on a Windows 2008 R2 Server.
My setup is as follows. All server rolls are configured and running on one Windows 2008 R2 Server (VM).
1.

a.
RemoteApp Manager
b.

d.
RD Session Host Configuration
e.
Remote Desktop Service Manager
f.

2.
Web Server (IIS)
All my configurations are working perfectly internal/intranet. I can access all published applications and remote desktop connectivity via (SSL) from IE 9 web browser.
The URL that is used internally is: (https://ServerName/RDWEB).
When I attempt to connect via the internet I’m getting an “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” message.
I’m using Dynamic DNS to access the server hosting the (IIS Remote Access Web Page URL), example (https://DDNS/RDWEB). I’ve opened ports 443 & 80
on my Untangle firewall, also port forwarding for 3389.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

Freek,
Thank you for your response. I tested Telnet as you suggested, and both FQDN and IP address were able to establish a Telnet connection to my RD Web Access Server.
The “NSLOOKUP” resolved the DNS server name. Also, I am able to us the IP address, URL (https://IP/REWEB) in IE9 to browse to my RD Web Access Server site. The above should confirm DNS IS working correctly within my internal network.
My connection issue is from external/internet access to my RD Web Access Server site. All my networked devices (internal) are natted IP assigned behind an “Untangle
Gateway” firewall and routable internally only.
Although, I’ve opened ports, created firewall rules to pass traffic on ports 443, 3389 my problem still exist. Since my internal natted devices are not routable
from the internet, I am using a DDNS host URL from (www.dyndns.org) to route from the internet to my internal site server. As it stands now, I suspect the problem maybe at the Untangle Gateway”. I will focus my attention there.
Thank you again for your help.

• SMB shares on Windows, access from i5/OS (OS/400), access rights

We are running SAP R/3 on i5/OS.
We would like to access, from SAP, files on a Windows server, through SMB (Windows file sharing).
In other words:
The SMB server is the Windows machine.
The SMB client is the i5/OS machine.
This is different from the situation with a Windows application server and an i5/OS database server.
We have some problems with the access rights.
We manage to give access to user PRDOFR, but that does not help for accesses from the SAPsystem, because the SAPsystem runs under user-ID PRD02.
How can we solve this?
If we cannot solve this, we may have to consider NFS: an NFS client on i5/OS and an NFS server on Windows (but NFS is "foreign" to both platforms).
