Private IP resolution in Internet

Folks,
Quick question about some DNS issue which I've got recently.
I've internal DC/DNS based on windows server 2012. For some cases I need to resolve internal hosts to internal IPs thru Internet. I've created translation for TCP/UDP 53 port, which is forward all inbound dns queries from external interface to my local
server. When I  resolve some A-records with public IP it works, but if IP from private scope - doesn't work. as example:
somehost1.domain.local    1.2.3.4 - works
somehost2.domain.local    192.168.0.123  - doesn't work.
Any thoughts? Anyway, thanx for any suggestions.
MCTS|MCSA|MCITP

Thanks, Eve.
I used nslookup with debug mode. Nslookup just give me next:
> somehost1.domain.local
Server:  UnKnown
Address:  DNS.exter.nal.IP.
*** UnKnown can't find somehost1.domain.local: Non-existent domain
but when I trying to resolve somehost2 (which has external IP) I receive:
> somehos2.domain.local
Server:  UnKnown
Address:  DNS.exter.nal.IP
Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    somehost2.domain.local
Addresses:  1.2.3.4
There is no difference between somehost1 and somehost2 except IP. Same zone, same DNS server, but one has private IP, another - public IP

  • IMAQdx USB Camera low Resolution -- "For internet Use" Option?

    Hello,
I have a USB camera that is directshow compliant. The resolution of the camera should be close to 2600x2000 (not sure on exact). When I see available "Video Modes", the highest resolution is 352x288 resolution.
The company supplying the camera told me to uncheck "For internet Use" in the property Panel to help fix the resolution problem.
I don't see this option anywhere. I looked in the IMAQdx property node as well for any "internet attribute"
Any ideas on where this option is or how I can fix this poor resolution?
    Thanks,
    Tony
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Lawrence,
I contacted the vendor and they sent me a "registration entries" file. To update you just open the file. I was using a Moticam camera and the original SDK didn't allow for some of the changes in the directshow driver so that is why they sent an update. If you are also using Moticam, I can send you the same file, otherwise, contact the vendor directly.

  • How to I resize screen resolution in internet browser?

    Hello,
Before LION I was able to resize my browser (Chrome and Safari) screen, type, screen, pics etc just by pinching and expanding.
Now with Lion I pinch and zoom but its not as good  - the screen doesn't reformat to keep everything in the one screen without being bigger than the browser window, so I'm sliding left and right with blank space. Its more of a "zoom in" than a changing of the window. I don't like or want it. Thats what [control and two fingers] is for.
Is there a resolution to this? Does anyone else find this frustrating!?
Also AirDisplay doesn't work on my imac which is really annoying too.

    Hi,
    Use the below syntax...
CALL TRANSACTION tcode... OPTIONS FROM opt
    ... OPTIONS FROM opt
    Effect
Allows you to control processing using the values of the componetns of the structure opt, which must have the ABAP Dictionary type CTU_PARAMS. The components have the following meanings:
    DISMODE
Display mode (like the MODE addition)
    UPDMODE
Update mode (like the UPDATE addition)
    CATTMODE
    CATT mode (controls a CATT)
CATT mode can have the following values:
    ' ' No CATT active
    'N' CATT without single-screen control
    'A' CATT with single-screen control
    DEFSIZE
    Use default window size
    RACOMMIT
Do not end transaction at COMMIT WORK
    NOBINPT
No batch input mode (that is, SY-BINPT = SPACE)
    NOBIEND
No batch input mode after the end of BDC data.
The components DEFSIZE , RACOMMIT, NOBINPT, and NOBIEND always take the following values:
    'X' Yes
    ' ' No
If you do not use the OPTIONS FROM addition, the following control parameter settings apply:
    DISMODE
    From addition MODE
    UPDMODE
    From addition UPDATE
    CATTMODE
    No CATT active
    DEFSIZE
Do not use default window size
    RACOMMIT
    Successful end on COMMIT WORK
    NOBINPT
    Batch input mode active ( SY-BINPT = X
    NOBIEND
Batch input mode remains active after the BDC data

  • Internet Security UI scaling on Windows 8.1 and high resolution displays

Please make the Internet Security UI scale properly on Windows 8 and high resolution screens. I have a 13" laptop with 3200x1800px screen resolution and Internet Security UI is pretty much unusable without a magnifying glass. Here's a screenshot (scaled down to 1920p). • Mc-icons not sized correctly in Internet Explorer

The file icons used by Sun One Web Server 6.1 (/mc-icons) to indicate file types do not display correctly when a directory does not have an index or default file, and the web server automatically creates an index that includes these icons and shows the directory contents. The icons representing the files appear correctly sized in Netscape Navigator 4.7 browser, but appear to shrink beyond visible resolution in Internet Explorere 6.0 browser. Fancy indexing (common) is being used. Platform is Windows 2000 Server, also running SSL3 and ColdFusion 7.0. How can we get the icons to display at a visible size in Internet Explorer? The result appears to the user as if the icon graphics are missing, but they are indeed called correctly by the page and the path to them is set correctly. I have verified that the graphics are OK on the server and are sized correctly when viewed in an image editor.

Are you sure the problem is the size of the icons? Beginning with version 6.0.2900.2190, Microsoft Internet Explorer stopped displaying the Web Server /mc-icons GIFs. This regression was apparently a side effect of Microsoft's attempts to fix IE's handling of malicious image files.
Apart from not using the buggy versions of IE, I'm not aware of a simple fix. I suspect a future Web Server 6.1 service pack will include a work around for the IE bug, but probably not until 6.1SP7.
I've added tweaked icons to my blog at http://blogs.sun.com/elving?entry=directory_listing_icons_and_ie that IE will display properly. You may wish to copy these into your ns-icons directory.

  • RDP from internet not working in Hyper-v VMs

    Hello .
Sorry for my english .I hope to explain clearly my problem .
    I 've Hyper-v on Windows 2008 server r2 . I've 3  Virtual networks ( External , Private and internal ) .
In my VMs there are two domains . The first one is bound with internal Vn and the second is bound with private Vn. My Host RRAS  is configured to switch inbound connection RDP (3389) to a second RRAS (Virtual machine bound with private network) . Last
RRAS does port forwarding correctly to the machine for RDP connection ( port 3389) request .
RDP works only from host and VMs but not from internet in private vn.
RDP from internet  connects but when try to configure session disconnects . Any ideas ?
Netstat says  "SYN-RECEIVED" then disconnects .
All other services work fine (http mapped between RRAS host and RRAS vm i)  and RDP works in private virtual network from internet . I think the problem is nat over nat for port 3389 in internet connection .  I've tried to disable firewall but
    not works .
    Thanks

Also add firewall exception "from" any or specific ip "inbound" "to" whichever destination.
To truly test, you ca disable firewall, if it allows rdp session, then you know it is something with firewall.
Remember sometimes antivirus software includes firewall., and in the case of home routers, they have built-in firewall, and Windows also has firewall, so you must be sure to check ALL possible locations of firewall blocking and dropping (even server-to-server).
Basically you would be allowing inbound from your router, NATted through (or routed through) your network, to the destination or allowing inbound from server to server. Also
double check that your server NICs are not having any additional 2nd DHCP interfaces, if so, disable the secondary DHCP NIC and test again. And do:
    traceroute
From Internet to the server having the issue and from server to server and it may uncover more details of where things are getting dropped.
I have heard also some ISPs may also try to block inbound RDP or 3389, so be sure and verify that as well.
Please mark as answer if I helped solve your issue. Thank you.

  • Webforms, Firewall and Private Network

    Hello,
    We have following configuration:
Server: Formsserver 6i patch 13 on Sun solaris
    Client: WindowsXP with Jinitiator 1.3.x
    Connect-Mode: https
Our configuration works with ClientPC which are
    not in a private network.
If you have a ClientPC in a prvt network with a private ip-address is a communication with a formsserver possible?
ClientPC (with private ip-address) <> Firewall
    <> Internet <> Firewall <> Formsserver
The ports for calling the applet and the
communication between applet and formsserver are
    opened.
Jinititaor is configured with the proxy https-port.
    We get following errors:
Java Console: SSL handshake failed SSl connection closed graceful
    the applet terminates with: FRM-92050
Could it be that the webforms applet sends
the private ip address to the formsserver,
which tries to establish a connection to a
    non real ip-address???
    Is there a workaround?
    thx for any help

You should be able to do this however it may be that it is the web server which needs to be "tweeked".
Can you do something like <machinename>/forms60/f60servlet - this will at least ping the java servlet - if you can't even do this then its probably not Forms which is the problem but the app server set up.

  • Build a gateway server for private network ???

    Hello all good friends,
I has a private network, and one Linux box with public IP address, two NICs connecting direct to ISP. Now, I want to set up this linux box to operate as Gateway server so that all my private networks can use Internet. I have asked this question to many peoples and got much suggestions such as install IPchains (NAT server), IPtables (NAT server), SQUID (Proxy server), ... But until now the big question to me is which software is the best one, I mean which software allow my private network accessing to Internet fastest ? (Proxy server or NAT server only ?) and which one is the most secure ? Besides, you know another opinion, please tell with me if you don't mind.
I very grateful to all of you answers me in all my life.
    Tu from Vietnam

Best thing I would suggest is to buy a Gateway Router. I have D-Link 804, but you can buy anything that pleases you more or suits your demands. Also this way, you donot have to have a computer "turned-on" all the time. Some other advantages are that functions like DHCP, NAT and other features are built into the router. This way you can connect upto 253 Computers to a router and also have a 100Mb/sec, internal home network. You can also go for the wireless option, if you have more money to spend. Just look up on the net for more information.

  • Being a good neighbor & sharing internet but not folders?

My neighbor wants to use my wireless network. I have a WRT54G wireless router. I have it set up passworded/private because I share internet, folders, and a printer across my home computers (2 wired desktops, 1 wireless laptop, 1 wireless PDA).
So is there anyway to give my neighbor access to just the internet and not the printer and shared folders??
(especially the shared folders as it contains business stuff) I would still want to have access to the shared folders on my wireless laptop.

No. Not with your router. The only thing you can limit inside your LAN is access between wireless devices, i.e. from one wireless device to another wireless device. All wireless devices have full access to the wired LAN.

    Hi,
    Sorry for the delay reply.
Windows Azure Pack for Windows Server is a collection of Windows Azure technologies, available to Microsoft customers at no additional cost for installation into your data center. It runs on top of Windows Server 2012 R2 and System Center 2012 R2 and, through
the use of the Windows Azure technologies, enables you to offer a rich, self-service, multi-tenant cloud, consistent with the public Windows Azure experience.
If you want to use Azure Pack, you could ask in:

All PCs can ping the DC, and get name resolution.  Checked IPs, DNS on both WS and DC (DC points to its own IP address with no other DNS), Forwarders for DNS appear to be working,
as normal DNS name resolution and internet access works on all PCs.  Have tried disabling NIC card and installing another NIC.  All searches keep pointing back at the same things that I have tried.  I feel like I am missing something stupid.
     Please help

The backup you used is too old. That is why your clients are experiencing trust relationship failures: the computer passwords are no longer matching so they are failing to connect to AD. You need to disjoin and join them again.
I understand that this is the only DC you have so please make sure that the DC is not multihomed, that it points to its private IP address as primary DNS server and 127.0.0.1 as secondary one. Also, you might need to rebuild your SYSVOL folder if you keep
    getting the SYSVOL errors: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/315457?wa=wsignin1.0

  • CSS 11501S GSLB DNS

    Hi
I am in the process of planning for a GSLB failover solution for a web site. I have attached a very basic diagram showing an example of the topology.
The aim is to have two sites. A primary site and a DR site to be used as a failover solution.
The main site has two web servers that will need to be load balanced and the failover DR site will only have 1 web server.
My initial plan was to use 2 Cisco CSS 11501S devices as I believe this would provide the load balancing and GSLB functionality I require.
To achieve this I was going to use the CSS's as the primary and secondary name servers for the domain. This has raised a few question marks….
Both of our sites are connected to a private WAN (with private IP ranges). See attached diagram. Our internet access is provide through a third party “Firewall Port” directly off the WAN. We don't manage the firewall that connects to the internet. This third party firewall provides the NAT for our public facing services (web servers, mail servers, ftp servers etc).
    So my questions are…
    * Because the CSS's and web servers are located on a private network will the CSS's be able to respond to the DNS requests with the PUBLIC IP address (as seeen from the internet) of the servers as apposed to the private IP address of the servers? If the firewall in front of the CSS's was connected to the internet this could be done via DNS doctoring but our firewall is on a private subnet!
    * Is it possible to get the CSS's to respond to DNS requests for other domain devices that do not reside behind the CSS - E.g. a MX record for a mail server that resides on another 'private' network?
*Is there a better way to achieve this?
Any assistance would be much appreciated!!

Thanks for the reponse Gilles. When you say
"If you configure the css to answer with the public ip address, you can't access your vip from the internal network anymore."
Do you mean that you will only get the public ip address from a DNS query and therefore this won't work locally?
If I have a host file entry providing the private address resolution for my internal hosts will this work?
"Also, be aware we do not support GSLB on the CSS anymore.
So, if this is a new install, it is better to start with a solution that we support - GSS"
Why is this no longer supported? Are there a lot of problems with GSLB on the CSS? It is pretty hard to justify the cost of a solution including 2 GSS's for GSLB and 1 CSS for server load balancing when comapred to the price of 2 CSS's with the enhanced license for both GSLB and server load balancing.
I have one client that wants to use their existing CSS's for a solution like this and another that is starting from scratch.
    Thanks

  • Multiple Win 7 Issues

First off it will not let the software update to the new patch, always fails in windows 7, have deleted the temp
files and download manaully to no avail.  This has been since I did the fresh install of Win 7 & Acrobat Standard 9, i have not had a single one get the update in a dozen or so machines rolled out.
Now it seems that Acrobat 9 is degrading to not working at all.  It refuses to display .pdf files in either firefox or ie8.  It just opens a little blank popup window that says ok and then just does nothing.  I have started to get this randomly on non imbedded files as well and had to do a complete repair on my machines install at one point because it wouldn't open anything at all, just allways the blank error and then nothing.
Now it seems that the problem is spreading, users from all over the company have started to report the blank window and blank error issue.  Most of these users are Reader 9 users on Win 7, but some are Standard Users as well.   It is getting to the point that I may just have to download another 3rd party software so our users can get their work done.  Of course it worked fine in testing before deployment and now that it is on the floor well it just doesn't seem to want to work now.
What gives, anyone else seeing this weird behavior? I cannot find anything about Win7 other than it was tested and should work, however this issue started about a week ago and has steadly increased in scope.  Are we the only company out there to find this issue on the new Win 7 boxes?  Seems to only be Win 7 as I have no complaints from XP users and only have 1 vista machine, it seems fine.  Does not seem to matter if I am in as a standard end users, local admin account or full domain admin account, same behavior.

No it does specify Windows 7 is supported.  It is version 7 & 8 they don't support on Vista/7.

Yes. Adobe will support Windows 7 with Acrobat 9 and Adobe Reader 9. Anyone else have this problem?
Purchased version of Windows 32 bit version of Acrobat XI update will not install properly or work.
First error info message is as per title after initial red screen which only appears once.
Second error info message is verify operation failed.
2 downloads, 3 installs and 2 repairs produce same result.
Adobe Australia called three times on 1800614863 but only automated selections 322323 made and transfer promised.
First call at 0901 local time.
All calls placed on hold first two timed out.
31 minutes into third call got an answer from a man in India.
    In answer to my question:
Are you receiving reports of problems installing purchased upgrade versions of Acrobat XI Pro?
    The answer was No.
He took details of messages and offered to help but I declined.
I have purchased and used all Acrobat Pro upgrades since 6.
    Complete installation attempted.
Being done on a clean install of Windows XP SP3 on an OQO02 with only other program installed Office 2007 SBE.
Message was edited by: OQOroger to reflect inability to connect  to seller Adobe Australia. Also Adobe site can't stay on Australia but reverts to USA. Full price of $A282 paid. USA purchasers only pay $US199 ($A191.57 at present exchange rates.) Credit card account already debited for purchase made yesterday. Subject line corrected 'as' changed to 'was'.
Message was edited by: OQOroger Corrected the price paid and currency conversion amount to show extra paid by Australians for 'local' support (from India). Added 'Message -' to title to make it less cryptic.
Message was edited by: OQOroger  Typical setup installation results in same problems except
'There was a problem reading this document (57)'
    window does not appear.
First window displaying and asking for acceptance of license conditions has no bottom section when first displayed so there is no way to accept these conditions except to close this window (confirm window appears) and launch program again when bottom panel is displayed.

Despite my advice of some of the many faults I have experienced with Acrobat XI Pro, Adobe support has never asked me to provide a 'Systems Report' which is available under the 'Help' tab.
    This report indicates:
    'Installed Acrobat: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
        Version: 11.0.0.379
        Creation Date: 2012/09/23
        Creation Time: 8:43:44 PM'
So if anyone has a working version other than 379 please let me know.
Complete 'Systems Report' is in a window named 'System Information' as is set ot below.

I can easily see 2 matters which an inexperienced support desk staff member could home in on.
Acrobat XI Pro system requirements include
    1024x768 screen resolution and
Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, or 10; Firefox Extended Support Release; Chrome
Well my OQO report above includes
    Display Detail:
       Screen Width: 800
       Screen Height: 480
    and leaves blank
    Default Browser:
    (actually Firefox 17.0.1)
Yet 'Firefox Extended Support Release' is described by
    Mozilla:
    'Who is it not for?
Individual users who always want the latest features, performance enhancements and technologies in their browser without waiting for them to become available in ESR several development cycles later.'
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
Since starting this post, I loaded Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on another similar computer I own and use regularly. This was in a dock and connected to an external display. Same problems and reports experienced.

(I did not bother installing plug-ins and deactivated installation before removal of program.)
With 5 installs producing the same error reports, I am convinced Acrobat XI Pro won't work for me on my computers and have little confidence of useful support from Adobe.
THERE ARE SO MANY GLARING PROBLEMS WITH MY INSTALLATIONS WITH THE SUPPORT DESK'S RESPOSES UNHELPFUL AND UNINFORMED. I REALLY DON'T ENJOY DOING ADOBE'S QUALITY CONTROL FOR THEM FOR FREE, BUT I CONTINUE TO POST HERE IN THE HOPE THAT SOMEONE WITH REAL AUTHORITY WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE NOTICE AND ARANGE A FIX OF THE PROBLEMS.
