Private mail (mail offline)

Hi all..!
I have an old mail system, host for more than 50 domain.
I just deploy Sun Messaging for these domain but some of them user private mail(someone call mail offline).
Example:
My default domain is : xyz.com, my mailhost is : mss.xyz.com
And I have private mail domain abc.com. The MX record of the domain abc.com point to mss.xyz.com, but on the Messaging Server mss.xyz.com dont host abc.com.
On the domain xzy.com I created a mail account [email protected]
All I want is : when someone send a message to any account on the domain abc.com. The message is route to the account [email protected]
I have modify the imta.cnf file like is :
!<IMTA_TABLE:domains.rules
! Rules to select local users
$* $A$E$F$U%$H$V$[email protected]
mss.xyz.com $U%$[email protected]
xyz.com. $U%$[email protected]
abc.com abc.com%xyz.com @mss.xyz.com
! ims-ms
.ims-ms-daemon $U%$H.ims-ms-daemon@ims-ms-daemon
But like this, the header off the message is broken!
I hope some can understand me, because my English is not good, and tell me the way to do.
Thank all for reading!

  • Using Mail Offline

My experience using Mail offline (e.g. on a plane) have been less than satisfactory. In particular, I have too recurring problems.
This first one is that when I'm offline and click on 'send' to send a message, I always get the following dialog:
    http://img.skitch.com/20090212-b2g884bgafnxa6mfrsu2inr68w.jpg
At first blush, I suppose that makes sense. Mail is telling me that I can't send the message right now, etc. But if you are writing 20-30 messages, it gets a little tedious having to tell Mail the same thing again and again, especially since it takes a few seconds and then interrupts whatever you are doing next to inform you.
Any suggestions for work-arounds or solutions on this one?
Second problem is that when I get back online, Mail is very busy for a while (1/2 hour or so), and I get about a dozen of these messages:
    http://img.skitch.com/20090212-txtpjhatmbyr16qan48gfsgey3.jpg
I'm never quite sure what it was that I did offline that can't be executed now that I'm online, or what is going to happen now. Was it files that I moved to other folders? Was it messages that I sent? Did they get sent?
Suggestions, thoughts, recommendations, etc. very welcome.
    Thanks!

  • Users are unable to view private mails of shared mailbox

We are facing one issue here with shared mailbox ( helpdesk and servicedesk) . users are not able to view mails which marked as private to helpdesk ID
Symptom:- users having full access to shared mailboxes are unable to view private mails received in shared mailbox.
    Product: Outlook 2010 SP2/ Outlook 2013

Did you try the article I suggested?
Essentially, the "owner" of the mailbox needs to grant "show all items, including Private, to my delegates".
I think MSFT introduced this change (to honour the Private flags) in OL2010, and earlier versions did not respect the Private flags.
(some customers want private to be properly private. other customers, don't want private to be private, if you know what I mean ;)

  • Still no email encryption for private mail accounts?

It's really a shame that BlackBerry - alleged focused on security - still does not enable S/MIME encryption for private mail accounts (those without BES).
Before some fanboys smash me with their superficial knowledge: there is absolutely no technical need for BES or any other server feature. S/MIME is client-side encryption and works by definition with any email account regardless of the transportation protocol (e.g. POP, IMAP, Exchange) or email provider.
While I do understand BlackBerry's urge to force people into buying BES licenses to a certain degree: This limitation is a real handicap by forcing me to take out another device for reading (and sending) encrypted mails on my private account.
Even the iGuys have implemented S/MIME natively into their email client (iPhone & iPad). Working like a charm...
Could somebody please take care of this fail and fix it with 10.3?
    Thanks.
(No, sideloading an ugly Android app that's not even well integrated into the Hub is not an option)

Best of all: Rolling out this "new" feature is kind of free for BlackBerry since the functionality itself is already in the system. ^^

  • What's the point of taking Mail offline?

I don't understand what it means to take a mail account online or offline, nor can I find an explanation anywere of what this means.
If you need to be online to send or receive mail I can understand that, but why would you want to create a situation whereby you cannot send or receive mail by taking an account offline? That would seem to defeat the purpose of have a mail account.

For me, I use my MacBook Pro at home and at work. I only use Mail for my private email and use Outlook for work emails. When I am at work and connected to the company network, I cannot connect to my private ISP to get my email. So if I have a need to check a previously received private email, I can open Mail and set it offline so it doesn't attempt to connect to my ISP and avoid any calls from the company IT.

  • Using Exchange Mail Offline

Does anyone out there have experience using an Exchange mail account offline (in airplane mode)?
My boss is used to using Outlook 2010 offline on his Windows 7 laptop.  Once he gets off the airplane, everything he did offline synchronizes with the server when he connects to the internet - emails get sent, calendar entries are entered and emails are filed into subfolders.
In the past this was a problem with iOS.  I've tested this on my iPhone and it seems to be working properly.  I'm looking for confirmation from anyone with experience please.
    Thanks
    Mike_Rafon

I don't know all the differences between connecting to an exchange server as an exchange server or as an IMAP server.
But I do know that I get mail okay and I can accept meeting requests connecting as IMAP. I can't send mail because the exchange admins don't serve up an SMTP server. I just use another account for that.
I also don't look at the exchange calendars, and have no need to share my calendars with the exchange users. If I did, I would just use OWA.
If you could live with a similar arrangement and your exchange admin offer it, consider switching your email connection type to IMAP.

  • Sent e-mails offline when moving to new Mac

    Hello
I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro, after my Powerbook started having problems.
One of faults it developed was that the Firewire port no longer worked. So, I couldn't use the Migration application.
After a lot of messing around, I managed to get everything up and running on the new Mac, except for the fact that all my sent messages now bring up the message: "The message from ... concerning “...” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
I've seen for this site that it is because of an overstuffed mailbox, and have gone through the steps to try to retrieve them, but to no avail.
The messages are still on the old Mac. What's the best way to get them onto the new Mac (I really need them for reference), and is there a neat archiving system?
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Saul,
This message is the result of an indexing issue, and not from being Offline or the absence of the message data. Open this mailbox and click on Mailbox in the menubar, and choose Rebuild. Wait patiently for Rebuild to finish, and be aware that if you are seeing the list of messages, that list may temporarily disappear, be returning. If only this one mailbox is the problem, then Rebuild will resolve the problem with the index.
I cannot tell how you proceeded to migrate the Mail folder assests, so there may be other problems. In Mail 2.x, there is one index for all mailboxes, and all movement of messages and mailboxes must take place in the Mail application itself to keep the index current. Rebuild will take care of individual mailboxes, but sometimes we must recommend a more global reindexing -- stay in touch and report progress.

  • Optimum server for mail apparently played havoc with my iMac mail app, kicking my Opt mail offline . Three hours on phone with both. Appears to be Optimum service issue. Had to restore all my mail preferences in Apple app to set that right. Working today

Last night, my Mac Mail app showed Optimum and gmail as offline and first I couldn't send any mail, then stopped receiving.  Could sign in at Optimum server, but then that stopped responding.  Was on the phone 4 hours, twice with Apple, twice with Optimum. Optimum maintained it was an Apple problem, but had me change my setup for mail in Mail App preferences on my Mac. Got it working and few mintues later out again. I called Apple again. We reset the preferences in mail app and agreed it was the Optimum Server causing problems.
This morning, I couldn't sign in to optimum webmail. Just testing it out, yet I could send mail from my mail apps, mobile and Mac. I didn't get mail that was sent to me last night but seems now it is working again and my preferences in Apple app, are as Apple set or reset them to work with Optimum.
    Anyone else have this problem.

Oh yes. Optimum ended by saying. Apple will have to create an App update to Mail to have things work right between them.  I don't think so. Optimum's server wouldn't let me sign in this morning at all...even though I mostly use app not the server.  Kept redirecting me to Sign-in page . Then an hour later, I could sign in with no problems.
Just be careful about having Optimum change too much over the phone in your Apple mail app preferences.  I know Apple and I made a few with ports..and password dropdown. Optimum told me to set it to NONE for password, and that worked for a few minutes, then stopped.  This is n Optimum issue , IMHO.
I trust Apple Express support more than I trust Optimum support.  The second person I spoke to at Optimum said these complaints about Macs and Optimum and Mac mail app have just been coming in this week. They are aware of it, but I see this isn't the first time this has happened.
Also, since Optimum is still a POP3 server, my e-mails that I delete keep coming back for a few days, on my mobile devices.

  • ADD GMail DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 for Mail offline and outgoing problems?

i have had outgoing mail issues and "offline" listed for SMTP servers problems since time immemorial and i am wondering if anyone knows for a fact if adding the above settings for GMail in System Preferences > Network > DNS tab is a good solution to this.
i am going to pay my technical help guy to come over and fix this for the fifth time in three years but i would like to see if i can get some hard facts on what may be causing it so i can fix it on my own first.

That's a Google DNS server. It can't hurt to try.
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
    Click + and type:  8.8.8.8
    Click+ again and type:
    8.8.8.4
    Click OK.
    Quit and relaunch Mail.

  • Mail offline and printer not working

Not only does Mail keep going offline since latest OS upgrade; I now find that the upgrade has stopped my office printer [Canon iR1020] from working.
The solution to the Mail problem is to restart Mail every time after the Mac has had a sleep. Can't find solution to printer problem. I have had to get an ancient clunky HP printer from out of the loft to use as a back-up. At least it works. I wonder if there is a patch or workaround to persuade my better printer to communicate with the Mac once more.

  • Exchange Mail Offline Problem when moving/deleting mails

    Hi there,
I am using the Apple Mail Program to connect to my corporate Microsoft Exchange Server. This work perfectly well (also with the calendar, tasks, etc.)
Mail also work s well while I am online.
When I work offline (I often travel in planes in trains) I can write emails, respond to mails and those will be synchronized without any problem when I am back online.
But the strange thins is that Mail sets back all changes in my inbox without any recognizable trigger. Meaning, I am moving emails from the inbox folder to other folders and/or deleting emails from my inbox. After switching from the inbox to another folder, or simply shortly to another program and then coming back, ALL moved and deleted emails show up again in the inbox. This is strange, because I am offline the whole time - thus the expanation that the server synch has changed everything back cannot be. At the same time, written emails stay in the outbox folder and remain there until I go online again.
I asked an apple employee at Genious Bar but he could help me. Another friend of me who uses another corporat Exchange Server experiences the same  problem. Can anyone help?

One thing that may help is to go to Mail Preferences, Accounts, and in your account under the Advanced tab select the check box for "Prompt me to skip messages over xxx kB" (where you indicate how many kB). This can reduce the download times by factors of 2 to 4 or more, depending on the size of the attachments.
I think the more specific control you are looking for that is analogous to what you can do on the iPhone and iPad might not be available on the computer versions of Mail.
Edit added: I just noticed that the above option is only available for POP accounts, but not for Exchange (IMAP) accounts, so unfortunately it may not apply to your account.

  • Multiple Private Mail Accts. Without Multiple OS X Users

This may be a stupid question:
I'm setting up a new iMac for my parents, who are relatively clueless about computers. I've convinced them to use Mail to deal with their (AOL) email accounts, but each of them wants to keep their account private. Thing is, nothing else on the computer needs to be private...just the email. Instead of making them each sign into their own User Account every time they start using the machine, then, I'm looking for a way to make Mail ask which email account it's dealing with each time it is opened and to have it ask for the password before allowing access to that email account (ideally, even to old messages...though it's okay if those are accessible password-free through finder, since they'd never figure that out).
Thanks for your help on this one!
iMac Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

I hate to say it, but lame as it is for Macs, the AOL OS X client may be their best choice for this. From the beginning, it was designed for multiple users sharing one "master" account (one actual account, multiple "screen names"), & if this is what they have, it works pretty well for a single OS X account: the individual screen names each have their folders in an AOL folder in /Users/Shared, & can be set up to be off limits to other AOL user names, since the only easy way to access locally or remotely stored items in it is through the client software.
Also be aware that AOL offers Mail.app support as an IMAP account, but AOL has its own unique way of doing things that can confuse users. Typically, an IMAP account retains both read & unread messages on the server until the client tells it to remove them. AOL works this way for unread messages, but automatically removes read messages from its server after some variable period of time not under direct user control, which can lead to confusion. (To retain read mail on AOL's servers, you must either mark read messages as unread or move them to the AOL IMAP "Saved" folder.)
Even if you (or your folks) can deal with this, you still have the problem that in Mail, each user of a single OS X account will have full access to any locally saved mail, since those mailboxes will always be visible & accessible. If they never save any email locally, you could try the workaround of creating two Mail accounts for the single OS X user they share, one for each of their AOL screen names, & leave the password blank in account setup for each. This would require entering their password to retrieve new mail, but that is all that would remain private.
As others point out, the only really workable solution is creating individual OS X accounts for each of them. They can still share documents through the /Users/Shared/ folders, so I suggest you set up appropriate ones for their needs & add appropriate ones to each account's Finder sidebar so they are conveniently accessible. Plus, don't overlook the fact that with individual accounts, each can have their Desktop, Screen Saver, & many other user preferences customized to their tastes, & things like iChat & any "reply to" integration work with much less confusion this way as well. This could be a strong selling point, even if they (say) privacy is only an issue for email.
BTW, if you elect to use Mail.app, either with individual accounts or with a shared one, don't overlook the AOL Service Assistant as a fairly painless way to migrate from AOL to OS X's integrated apps. It isn't foolproof (see my own problems with it here or here) but it usually works well enough to justify the attempt, & is the only reasonable way to import old saved AOL mail (in AOL "File Cabinets") into Mail, plus being a painless way to add AOL bookmarks to Safari, etc.
And while I'm on the subject, check out AOL's
Macintosh Downloads page for some other (amazingly!) decent OS X apps for AOL subscribers. AOL Radio will give them complimentary access to XML stations (among others), or AOL Pictures, which will give them complementary web space for photo sharing.
Basically, the AOL client for OS X is obsolete & AOL appears to be supporting Macs these days through these helper/aux apps, which are far better developed.
