Private Settings - Chat History Not Fully Deleted

Hello,
I've skype installed on different machines - desktop, laptop, iphone and ipad.
I've set the Keep History to None and always clear my IM history every few hours. I've notice that even after clearing my history on my skype on desktop, when i logged on to my skype on iphone or ipad or laptop, the IM history that I've cleared on other device will appear. This also happens when i logged-in to any of the device, cleared the IM history and login to another device. Sometimes is shown the history up to few weeks back. I wonder why the Keep History=None and Clear History only works on that particular machine itself but appearing when login to other device.
Also happen when someone in my contact list logged-out then goes back online, the recent deleted chat (few hours before) with that contact sometimes re-appearing.
I've notice this issue for quite sometimes and wonder if any of the members having/notice the same issue?

I too am having a similar problem. I have Skype installed on a MacBook, Galaxy S4 and a smart TV.
In just the last few days I have started receiving IM messages/conversations I had between 8 - 20 hours earlier again but only to my phone. They appear in the chat history and the time stamp is the current time, not the time the message was originally sent. Therefore, each message is shown in the history twice with two different time stamps.
The messages that have been resent usually stay in the IM history for a short period of time, up to 15 minutes, and then disappear so the history reverts back to how it was originally. When longer conversations start to come through again it is irritating being barraged with constant alerts and on one occasion it crashed my phone. Additionally, it causes confusion if I reply or ring in response to a message that actually was not sent at that time.
I have cleared chat histories on the computer, used app manager to clear data, uninstalled and reinstalled Skype on my phone but nothing has solved the problem. I signed out of Skype last night on all devices, yet this morning I received notification of an IM on my phone so I am guessing it is also logging itself on.
I have had no choice but to uninstall Skype from my phone, which is unfortunate as besides a few delayed messages I have never had any issues with it previously.
Although there is no apparent connection to my own logging off/on activities, there may be to those of the contacts who sent the original messages.

As the title said. I have the problem of view chat history for the past few weeks. I have downloaded the latest version of bbm (5.0.3.22). The chat history has always been saved in memory card. There is a link that said "view chat history" in any chat window, but once I clicked it will keep loading for hours to no avail. Is there any solution to this problem?

Found a solution in another forum!!
* For Whatsapp:
in Whatsapp's Settings, disable saving the chat history.
Connect your phone to your PC as USB unit. From the PC go to the SD Card and in the "databases" folder delete the Whatsapp folder.
Then eject and unplug your phone, go to whatsapp and enable chat history again. It should work!!
* For BBM and Windows Live:
in BBM and Windows Live Settings, disable saving the chat history.
Connect your phone to your PC as USB unit. From the PC go to the SD Card and in Blackberry/im delete the "history" folder in both BBM and Windows Live.
Then eject and unplug your phone, enable chat history again. It should work!!
If BBM doesn't work, connect your phone again and create yourself the folder "history". I'm sure Windows Live creates it again but not too sure about BBM.
Hope it solves your problem as it solved mine!!

Protect bbm chat history from being deleted

I'm still new here, plz help me, is it possible for me to stop the bbm chat history on a Blackberry from being deleted? Maybe set a password before deletion will take place?

Applications not fully deleted!!

I downloaded an email application for school onto my macbook. It wouldn't log me in correctly so i decided to just delete it. Something went wrong through the deleting process and basically the result is i have 2 icons on my desktop that are locked. I can not move these objects- not even to the trash. In my trash- the folder with the remaining items from the application are also locked and they can't be deleted.
Is there any way to get these "locked items" unlocked or better- deleted for good?

have you tried to get Info on the applications and unlocking it from there?
This might be a permission thing too, so make sure you own it. Again you can do that from the Get Info box.
Select the icon, under the menu File, you'll see Get Info.
in there you'll see a locked box that should be unchecked. Below is the Ownership and Permissions. Click on the triangle to open it and the details. The Owner should be your name, if not, hit the padlock (might prompt you for your password) and then make sure the owner is you, and your access is Read and Write.

Is it possible to retrieve deleted chat history?

If chat history is accidentally deleted can it be retrieved? If so - how? Thanks in advance

Passwords are not stored in the browsing history. If you delete your passwords, history or cookies it is not possible to recover them.

Chat history displayed correctly in Outlook, not showing in Lync 2013 client

Morning all,
It seems like I have an un-searchable issue with many hits returning that conversation history flat out doesn't work, which isn't the situation here...
The backend consists of Exchange 2007 with Lync server 2013. Clients (a mix of Lync 2010 and 2013, XP and 7 respectively) have no issues connecting and the chat history works fine from Outlook, however, on the client, conversation history is not displayed
and we are just given the option to "View more in Outlook..." (Which again works fine).
Is the chat history not meant to be displayed within the Lync client or are there any options or boxes that I have left unchecked that could cause this issue?
I've checked any addons on Outlook that sound as though they might be in any way affiliated with Lync and ensured they're ticked to no avail.
I'll be happy to follow up with any further information if my explanation is a bit cloudy.

The Lync client will attempt to connect to Exchange Web Services in order to display items like Conversation History and Visual Voicemail. If it cannot connect to EWS, it will fall back to a MAPI connection via the Outlook client. The MAPI connection
will allow chats to be deposited in the Conversation History folder and display presence information within Outlook and a few others, but the EWS connection provides a richer experience.
You can check how it is connecting by holding CTRL + right click on Lync system tray icon. Then select Configuration Information. You should see items for EWS internal/external URL, MAPI Information, and EWS Information.
Unlike Outlook, Lync does not use the Autodiscover SCP to locate EWS. Lync relies on the Exchange Autodiscover DNS A record to be setup both internally and externally. Assuming Autodiscover and EWS are working properly, the following are required
in order for Lync to connect to EWS successfully:
- User's SIP URI and Primary SMTP address should match
- Autodiscover.sipdomain.com DNS A record setup internally and externally for each SIP domain supported
- EWS Internal/External URLS accurately configured on Exchange
Let us know what you find.

Viber Desktop for MAC - Exporting chat history

For some reason when I upgraded to the new Viber earlier this month on my iPhone, all of my call and chat history vanished from my phone and I didn't have a chance to export it.
The chat history that got deleted on my iPhone is still visible on my MacBook Air.
My question is, does anyone know how to export chat history from a MAC? I know how to do it from an iPhone, but seeing as the history isn't on the phone I can't export it. I need to do it from the laptop, if possible

There are no room console API to limit to chat history other than deleting some items manually by going to Explore tab's items. Currently the entire history gets cleared automatically. If you want to delete some messages now, you would have to subsclass some of the functions inside SimpleChatModel.as.
You can see the clear function for deleting the complete chat history inside SimpleChatModel.as. Basically, you need to delete the nodes and create them again. You can do this using PHP also by using our ServerToServer API to delete and create the nodes.
However, we plan to do some changes to our SimpleChatModel in future which will include allowing users to delete some messages. This will be coming in second half timeframe of year.

You can delete your Chat history by going to Tools>Options in the desktop client; click on the IM and SMS tab; click on IM settings; then show advanced settings; then you can clear the history and modify how long chat history goes back.
Note that this will not delete the other user's chat history with you, only yours.

As of August 2013 this DOES NOT WORK with the Windows 8 version. To prove: Start a text chat, let both parties create a few messages. Follow method for clearing chat (Windows-C, Settings, Options, Clear History) Go back into Skype chat of same person as before Entire history is still there. Shut down PC and restart. Go into Skype. Open chat window for same user. Entire history is still there. Install Skype for Desktop Log on Go into settings, IM/SMS Set history to "do not save history" Clear history Log off Skype for Desktop Go back into Skype Windows 8 version History all still there. DO NOT KEEP TELLING US THIS SOLUTION - IT DOES NOT WORK. You demonstrate that you're more interested in getting points in here than actually testing the supposed solution you suggest. If you had, you'd know IT DOES NOT WORK.

You can protect specific cookies with the CookieCuller extension.
The cookies are only protected within that extension, so other means (Clear Recent History) will still remove them.
You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and keep the protected cookies.
If you use the build-in cookie manager then you can only make an allow exception for a specific domain, but with CookieCuller you can protect specific cookies.

Deleting/clearing chat history for one single cont...

I want to delete/clear chat history for one single contact!
I want to see this option with the next update! I also do not want the complicated 3rd party solutions!
What's the reason of not providing this easy thing for so many years?

Weird, so after clearing the cache a url using ajax

Unfortunately, since each application running its own server will handle pages differently and have backend scripts that process the requests, there is not a whole lot we can do in the browser but clear the cache. It would require resources beyond this forum. If however, you can get in contact with the developer of that application and ask if this is expected, we would be happy to work with an example.

Deleted chat history

Can I retrieve deleted bbm chat history when save history was enabled. I tried going to filers folders. Clicked on I'm but the contacts pin is not showing. Is there any other way that I can retrieve these chats. Please help. Urgent

Do you have a backup file containing the chat history? If not, once you have deleted the BBM chat history, it cannot be retrieved. Let me know if you have any other questions.

To delete the local (!) chat history in a conversation do the following:
Open the "Recent" tab (iPhone & iPod) / sidebar (iPad).
Tap the "Edit" button
You will see a red remove icon next to each conversation. Tap it to remove.
Note: This will only delete the local chat history. If you log in to Skype from a different device the chat content will be synced there. This is how Skype chat sync is designed currently (Latest Version only).
