Anyone else keep getting "Updating tree" ever since Pro App Support update?

Ever since one of the last updates for Pro Applications administered by Apple, Logic Pro 7 has been starting with an additional annoyance. I keep getting a little load window that says:
"Updating tree, please wait"
Every time I start it up. Anyone else get this? It is pretty annoying. A push to get me to buy Logic 8 so I can appreciate Logic 8's 'superior speed'?
Not like getting Logic 8 would make too much a difference there, being that I am a Power PC user . . . but that is for another topic.

okay, your recommendation sounded straight-forward enough. Thank you, by the way. But when I went into Logic to turn it off, I couldnt find where I could. And that is probably a part of the problem-- I don't know how I turned it on in the first place. Any tips on how I get there? Is there a key command for it? If so, that must be the way I accidentally turned it on. Thanks, again!!

Pro Application Support Update Flaw

Hi All,
Sorry to do this, but I've found a slight flaw in the new Pro App Support Update. I don't know how widespread it is or whether it's limited to intel as I have no way of testing, but on my macbook running 10.4.9 I get a problem, it's a VERY small one but it wasn't there yesterday.
When using Deconvolution on Space Designer, when saving the IR as a file the text box to enter the files name is a little tricky. Pressing enter/return after typing the files name results in the text going down a line as it would in a word processor not pressing the OK button as it did for me before updating. Also the back space button doesnt work in the text box so if I mis spell something I either need to use Delete to delete forwards or select the incorrect text and re type it.
Of course I can get around it, but it's a bug and a new one so I thought you should know. This definitely didn't happen prior to the update as I was making IR's yesterday without a hitch and today after the update I'm getting this error.
It doesn't seem to manifest itself in any other way I've found yet. Maybe it's something to do with Final Cut Studio having a newer version of Space Designer and not being directly compatible with the logic on or something?
There save dialogue for IR's also appears slightly different graphically and it's for the better definitely. So thanks for that.

After a few days of testing with the patch applied I can DEFINITELY confirm that the redraw issues in Logic are gone. I get all my buttons now, and not only that, but I also see the blue halo over the highlighted button, which I had never seen before. The whole interface just looks better, not sure if it's just because the buttons are there or what, but even the font for the faders don't smear anymore and things like that. I can say that this is definitely worth the update.

the 2006-01 Pro app support update says it's recommended for users of FCE HD 3.5, as well as the other FC apps. But login page for download (# sd10924) requires a FC PRO registration only. Will not take an FCE serial number. So should I download this or not? and how do I get it let me?

Pro App Support

I just bought Logic Studio. I installed and it says I need the latest pro application support. No big deal, I just downloaded it off the Apple website. When I get to the screen that asks where you want to install it, I cannot see where I am supposed to install it. I click my hard drive (the only thing there) and it says "You cannot install Pro App Support on this volume, the software can only be installed on the start up disk". What does this mean?! There is no place to install it.
Can someone please help me?

I don't have Logic Studio but I have FCP Studio and I ran the Pro Application update through Apple's software update and it installed fine. Maybe you have to navigate to the Logic Studio Application folder for it to install? When it asks you to choose the location, double click on Macintosh HD, double click Applications, then click once on the Logic Studio folder.

Pro App support 3.1 -- What's It Do?

OK, Pro App support 3.1. Can anyone elaborate on the benefits of installing this? What exactly does this bit of software do/improve/fix?
And, do I even need it? (Running Logic 7.1.1(885) under Tiger 10.4.3.)

Basically, your Pro apps use the same set of resources (you see the word framework alot in this listing) for many things, it updates them all at once for all apps which use this framework.
References, panels, internal plugins, dialogues, internationalization, for extended compatability and stability.

Pro App Support 4.0.1 won't install

I've downloaded pro app support but when i try to install it I get a message like: "you cannot install pro app support on this volume. This volume is not eligible." I get the message whether i choose my system drive or any others. None of the drives are anywhere near full.

I tried many things like moving the proapp installer in my 'applications' folder, etc... it just doesn't work, i have no volume eligible for installing it...

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone knows where these pro app updates go? I want to check what I've downloaded so far. And, if I already downloaded something and I download it again, does it just replace the previous one?

Open your system drive and go to the top level Library>Receipts. All updates are there.
Even if it looks like you have more than one take a close look at the version updates.

Pro Application Support Updater refuses to install

When I download the ProKit updater and then run it, I get "You cannot install Pro Application Support on this volume. There was an error while evaluating JavaScript for the package."
My iMac is less than a year old. Loads of RAM and disk. Latest O/S with updates. Final Cut Express 4.01, with its update.
Any ideas, or do I call Support?

I am having the same issue. Both through Software Update and downloading the update manually. The exact error message is:
"You cannot install Pro Application Support on this volume. There was an error while evaluating JavaScript for the package."
I also have the latest Java updates and OS so I am not sure what to do at this point.

What does the Pro App Support 4.0 do for Aperture?

The description of the update is kind of cryptic, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this.

After loading my Aperture slowed down a lot. When using the loupe and mousing over thumbnails on the light table I now get the spinning beach-ball and dialog saying "loading image" which I never got BEFORE loading this update...and that's with NO other change to Aperture.. not even any additional image files.
Not happy.

FCPro will not open after Pro Apps update

Did recommended software updates at the end of the day yesterday. Quicktime, Pro App Support, Pro App Update, Audio Update, Security Update and Compressor. (Also iTunes, AirPort and Security 2007-07.
Now Final Cut just freezes on the splash screen. Tried to trash the prefs, but FCP does not even load enough to see that the earlier prefs are gone.
Am frustrated that I have again just taken Apple's word that an update will make things better, not worse.
Any suggestions, gang? My client is not as patient as we are.

Thanks, Randy and Ed. I repaired permissions and restarted twice and the issue disappeared. For whatever reason the Pro Apps update only crippled iDVD and FCPro for five hours, then quietly went away.
The prefs-trashing and permissions-repairing you suggested are what my dad used to call "kicking the mule"... there is no one reason that banging the side of the TV or resetting an unrelated thing on a computer helps it any more than giving the mule a kick, but sometimes that's all that is needed.
That said, no actual mules or any other animals were harmed in the correction of this glitch. I may have to kick my client though.

Installed Pro Kit 6.0.1... all Pro Apps down!

After applying the latest Pro Kit Update (6.0.1) none of my Pro Apps work anymore. I click them, they make a few bounces, then I get the spinning pinwheel. That's it.... I Go to "Force Quit"... and FCP says not responding in nice red letters.
I have tried the following:
1) Multiple Restarts
2) Uninstalling FCS completely and re-installing
3) Fixing permissions
4) Crying...
Nothing's worked so far. I have a project coming up next week... this is unreal... Any help is appreciated.

Judging from your other thread, it sounds like you are confusing the current Pro KIt update with very much older FCP updates that you need for you FCP 6 based workstation.
As I've noted in the other thread Pro App software updates are handled through Apple's Software Update app (same as for OS updates) ... if your apps are installed correctly and you have not renamed or moved them from their default install location then running Software Update should be enough to get them updated. Please note that many updates rely upon having also installed previous updates. For example, Pro App Update 2008-1 (FCP 6.03) would not appear until you had already installed Pro App Update 2007-1, and earlier Pro Kit and QuickTime updates too ... but don't worry, Software Update handles all this for you automatically, so you just need to run it, let it update whatever it finds needs updating, and then immediately run it again (yes really) and see if it finds any new updates that now need installing based on the just updated files. Keep repeating the process over and over again until it eventually reports that there are no further updates available. By that point your FCP install should be updated as far as it can go (6.0.4).

Pro Application Support 4.0.1 for everyone?

Hello all~
to put it simply, my question is this: Is the Pro Application Support 4.0.1 something that everyone receives/sees/gets when they check software update?
I ask this, because as I ran my update today on my Macbook, along with the Safari 3, Aiport Extreme and Security Update there was this Pro Application Support Update. I USED TO have final cut express installed on this macbook but I uninstalled it, so I am suspicious that I may have uninstalled it incorrectly which is why I may be seeing this update...
OR... if everyone sees it (even those who never installed a 'pro' application), then I can rest assured that I may have indeed uninstalled it properly

thanks for that information!! now i just have to find out how to get rid of the 'extra files'... or rather, to even find them!! if i use spotlight i cant find any!
I looked through 'system profiler' to see what 'applications' i have, but final cut pro isn't there (or at least under that name)... i think i used AppZapper to get rid of final cut pro, so i would think it would have worked?
anybody have any ideas? thanks in advance.

Every app crashes on my MacBook Pro after Software updated several days ago

Hi all,
I got a Macbook Pro 8,1 (13,3" Late 2011) which worked fine untill 2013-03-20.
After the system software updated on that day, EVERY app( Finder, Chrome, Safari .etc) crashes frequently
even can't open Console, every time I click the icon, it start crashing, I have to force the app quit and re-launch, but it keep crashing, I never encounter these issues before.
I can't use my macbook for my work now. Please help!
