Pro Application Update 2007-01 installs on Leopard?

I upgraded this week to 10.5.2. But this morning as the software updater rans in the background, it downloaded
Pro Application Update 2007-01
which is from June, 25 2007. Do I need to install this on Leopard 10.5.2 or is it just a joke?

I have no idea. I would turn off automated updating.
No, don't do that. You can put a single update on "Ignore" when it pops up next time. The menu on the top left when the update screen is showing has an "Ignore" on it. I am not sure exactly where, but I have used it.
Do not turn off the entire automated update for a single item.

  • Pro Applications Update 2007-02 Can't be installed

Hi, not sure if this is a Leopard thing or a Logic 8 thing, but I cannot install the latest software update "Pro Applications Update 2007-02 v1.0 930kb" - it downloads and then says "Sorry an unexpected error occurred" - not very helpful
    Any suggestions?
    TIA

    UPDATE
Ok, Found what the issue is. Its down to a Quicktime Codec that you can find in /Library/QuickTime (Not the user directory, but the one off root)
What you need is a file called AppleHDVCodec.component
The latest is version 1.3.2 dated 5th November
Update 2 installs this, but Update 1 wont install over the top as its a newer file.
Download both Update 1 and 2 from Apple, then open the contents of both (Don't run them, click Show package contents in context menu)
You need to unzip the gz files and you can copy out the above file. Do this for both files but keep them separate, you will need both.
Put update 1 file in place first (Overwrite or backup your file in the location given at the top of this post ) then run SW update. It will recognise the version and ask to install Update 2 - Dont !
Then grab the file from the update 2 gzip and copy this file over the one from update 1
Then run SW Update again and it will say all is Ok and you dont need any updates
Its a real mess, but works.

  • Pro Applications Update 2007-01 v1.0

Why am I getting this update notification ? I have fresh install of Leopard with all updates installed, and just few third party applications I use for my business. Not one of them has anything to do with this update.
Inside the description pane of this update, it says:
"...Pro Application Update 2007-01 includes fixes to underlying frameworks and shared components for the updated Final Cut Studio 2 applications.
For further information about this release, go to: Release Notes..."
I have never ever had Final Cut Studio not I have any clue what is it for... so, why do I still get this notification. I'd rather not install anything that I won't use in the future.
So my question is... why do I need this update and if not, how can I stop it from showing up in my Software updates window. In Windows it was easy, just uncheck some update you don't need, right click it and choose HIDE UPDATE.
    Thanks in advance!

    Ok thank you Paul!
But... still wondering what does this update do ? I don't want to skip it if there are some important things it fixes. Is it really just for Final Cut Studio 2 applications ? And why do I get notified on this update when I don't even have this application installed ?
Others received this update too ?
It's simply a error. You should not be receiving this. Many received a Remote Desktop update late last year which was also a mistake. Nothing is perfect. Not even Apple
Run software update and when this shows up, under "Update" in the top left menu, select "Ignore" and ignore it.
if you install it and do not have the requisite software you may start getting a warning when you do a preference verify/repair, as did many of us with the infamous Network Update, which went away with one of the recent OS updates.
I put the Remote Desktop update on Ignore on this computer, and after one of the OS updates, it disappeared.
Stuff happens. It's not a perfect world.

  • Pro Application Update 2007-01 install error

I recently Install Logic Studio and went right to software update before launching anything. It found several available updates and began downloading and installing them. Two of those downloads were the Pro Application Updates 2007-01 and 2007-02. I walked away for a while and when I returned I had received an ERROR message saying that Pro Application Update 2007-01 couldn't be installed. I noticed that Software Update installed the second update before attempting the first update. I blame this for the error message.
But what now? I have attempted to install the update 2 more times to no avail. I assume one fix might be to UNINSTALL/REINSTALL LOGIC (which would be very time consuming).
    Any ideas?? THANKS!

i got this install error message as well. The update is for Final Cut Pro which I have never installed. I guess thats why it would´t update...

  • Pro applications update wont install

    pro applications update wont install
has anyone had this problem, or does anyone know a solution?

I'm having this same problem. After installing Logic Studio last night I ran Software Update which updated my software but skipped ProApplications Update 2007-1. It went straight to ProApplications Update 2007-2 and told me there was an error installing Update 2007-1. So I came here, downloaded Updated 2007-1 on its own and installed it without a problem. Now whenever I run Software Update it tries to install ProApplications Updated 2007-2 but tells me there is an error. I tried the link to the update and am redirected to a Final Cut Studio page and asked for my Final Cut Studio serial number--but I don't have Final Cut Studio. I have Logic Studio.
Any suggestions on how to rectify this?

  • Submit button in Compressor disabled after update Pro Applications Update 2010-02

    Dear all,
I recently bought FCS and the whole software works fine after installation. However, I had to use Compressor over the last couple of days and the submit button was completely disabled and in the cluster field the option this computer had dissapeard. I checked this forum for a solution and found it. It seems that the problem was Qmaster. After reinstalling both Qmaster and Compressor everything works again. I have use the following set of instructions:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/how_to_reinstall_compressor_and_qmast er.html
The problem is that now each time I do a software update, I am asked to install the Pro Applications Update 2010-02. After installing this update, the problem occurs again (the submit button is grayed/greyed out). It seems that in my computer the update creates a problem.
Does anyone have the same issue and if so, what suggestion you recommend?. At the moment I am avoiding the update, but I may me missing important bug and other fixes.
    Thanks a lot,
    Oliver

I have experimented a bit and got the problem sorted. Iuninstalled FCS using the uninstaller from http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/.Before installing the whole suite again, I realised there was and additionalApple Qmaster package in the Applications folder. I deleted this file and emptythe trash. Then did a fresh installation of FCS, performed an update andinstalled Pro Applications Update 2010-02.
And now all is up and running workingperfectly.

  • I need pro applications update 2008-02

I recently updated several FCP stations with the Pro Applications Update 2008-02, but for some reason it only changed FCP from 6.0.1 to 6.0.4 on one of them. So I retried performing the update, but nothing comes up. Then I tryed manually downloading it, but the now the version update (pro applications update 2008-03) changed to require an OS update.
The administrators will not allow me to update the OS in order to get this new update because of the other software apps on the computers in this lab, and the fact that it could cause problems with other software.
Is there anywhere where I can get the old Pro Applications Update 2008-02?

I need to make a slight correction...
The Pro Apps Update 2008-003 should still contain the FCP 6.0.4 installer. The trend I've seen with new updates such as these is that they still contain the necessary installers from previous releases. Our systems here are still running FCP 6.0.3 with no plans to upgrade just yet, so I haven't tested this out just yet. But I still have previous updates archived to the iDisk.

  • Pro Applications Update didn't update

I had a problem with an error message saying the "file is too new for this version of the software.
I have FCP 6 (part of Final Cut Studio 2)
I read here that the fix to the problem is an update which I just downloaded and installed, but my FCP 6 was not updated. In the "about" it shows version 6.0
When I tried to open the files, I still get the same message.

In fact I just noticed that earlier this year I also updated Pro Applications Update 2008-01
The update I made today is 2008-02
When I check the FCP6 Application Info, it still shows version 6.0 and it hasn't been modified since 2007.
Why would the updates not update my FCP6?

  • Pro Applications Update keeps coming

After a clean install of Mavericks I reinstalled FCPX and (as I lerant from these Support Communities) also reinstalled DVD Studio Pro and Soundtrack Pro from the original FCP3 discs. As expected the FCPX Supplemental Content appeared in App Store Updates section, as did the Pro Applications Update 2010-02.
Strangely however, the latter reappears as if the installation hadn't any effect, allthough some things like the Apple QMaster is installed indeed. Is perhaps the installation not noted somewhere in the system?
Does someone knows how to prevent this recurring appearance of that Update?

I'd recommend that you post your question in the FCP-X forum located here: Final Cut Pro X
This is the Final Cut Studio forum.

  • Pro Applications Update 2008-02 Update for Logic Studio Owners?

I received Compressor 3.0.3 as part of the Logic Studio 8 bundle.
Pro Applications Update 2008-02 states that it upgrades Compressor 3.0.3, however, Software Update does not offer to update Compressor nor can I download it manually since it is demanding that I provide a Final Cut Pro serial number (which I do not have, I have only the Logic Studio serial number which it won't take).
Does anyone have any idea what Logic Studio owners are supposed to do to obtain Pro Applications Update 2008-02?
    Dave

Well, I would agree except that the update specifically provides an update for Compressor 3.0.3 which Logic Studio owners have as well and the update description states that it is recommended for all Logic Studio users.
"Pro Applications Updates improve reliability for Apple's professional applications and are recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, and Logic Studio.
Pro Applications Update 2008-02 addresses installation issues, compatibility updates, and general performance issues and improves overall stability.
    Applications included in the update:
    Final Cut Pro 6.0.4
    Compressor 3.0.3"

  • Pro Applications Update 2008-01    Good or Bad experiences ?

    Hi Guys,
Who's up dated to the - Pro Applications Update 2008-01
and have their been benefits or issues ?
    Cheers
    Tom K

Everything is up to day via software update:
    LiveType 2.1.3
    FCP 6.0.3
    QT 7.4.5
OS X 10.4.11 (Can't run Leopard on either of my Mac Pros (G5 Quad and Intel 2.66 2x core-duo) because I run ProTools on both (TDM on the Intel, LE on the G5)
I mostly use the second internal drive for video stuff, but I have three FW-800 drives for backing up older projects, DVD images, etc.
My test was pretty simple: in Livetype, I typed in some text which took three lines, applied various textures to a separate track and to the matte; put in some "live fonts," do some fade effects. I did this on both a regular NTSC SD project and a HD (ProRes 422) 1920x1080 project. It all works, rendered OK, exported, etc. I put the resulting video files through compressor to create SD MPEG2 files and they worked, too.
I've been using 6.0.3 pretty extensively for a project (two hour movie of a play), and again, it all seems to work just fine. The long standing problem with some HDV not "conforming" correctly (exceedingly blocky video in places) has NOT been resolved with the update; the same time line rendered and exported as ProRes 422 is just fine, so it is an HDV issue.

  • Pro Applications Update 2009-01 doesn't change version numbers?

    Hi,
I ran the Pro Applications Update 2009-01 on my FCS installation. The update seemed to work fine, but when I open up FCP or any of the other apps, the version numbers are not changed. From the Pro Application Update page:
"Pro Applications Update 2009-01 is a revision to Final Cut Studio (2009). This update includes Final Cut Pro 7.0.1, Motion 4.0.1, Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1, Color 1.5.1, and Compressor 3.5.1. The software addresses general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues."
Since none of my FCS apps have upgrade version numbers, I can't tell if any of the fixes were applied. Is it possible I did something wrong when I ran the update?
    Thanks.
    Mike

Thanks Larry and David for your responses, but unfortunately I'm not seeing what you are
My Final Cut Studio 2009 apps are upgrades from the previous version. All the apps for FCS are in a "Final Cut Studio" folder that I created in Applications to hold the programs (I also drag this folder to the dock to have easy access to the apps).
If I do a Command-I on the apps in this folder, they all show the old versions. Spotlight shows there are no other versions other than the ones in my "Final Cut Studio" folder.
I wonder if the update's not working because I have the apps in a folder other than the original install location? The funny thing is that both VersionTracker and CNet's TechTracker say that there are new versions to install. But I would think that the updater would fail if I moved the apps from their original locations, not just end successfully?

  • Pro Applications Update 2008-5 won't install properly

I just did a clean reinstall of everything on my MacBook, including Snow Leopard and Logic Studio 8. I've run Software Update multiple times to make sure I have the latest of everything, however Software Update wants to install Pro Applications Update 2008-5 every time I run the updater.
Does anyone know how to get the Pro Applications Update 2008-05 to stick and not show up every time I run Software Update? I've checked Library/Receipts/InstallHistory and it is listed on there 6 times.

I figured out what the problem is for me at least. I had formatted my drive as Case Sensitive. I did a reformat (now it's just Mac OS Extended Journaled) and reinstall and Logic updates just fine now. In addition, other weird problems I was having have disappeared.

  • Pro Applications Update 2010-02 installed, but not installed.

I downloaded and installed the latest software update and it said it was successfully installed, but when I look at the applications, they are not updated (e.g. Compressor is version 3.5.2 when it should be 3.5.3). I have opened the applications just to check for the new features, but they are not there.
Is there something I'm not doing? Would reinstalling the apps do anything?

I was having the same problem on two of my older systems. It seemed like every week (automatically) or anytime I manually ran software update, it would recommend "Pro Applications Update 2008-05 1.0 3.1 MB". This seem to be a looping problem and it continued even after applying the update. I replaced one of my computers and being a new computer I was not having any problems. Later I upgraded my hard drive and chose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Case Sensitive" as the format for my new drive. About a week later the problem started happening on my new computer with a new drive. I also noticed some applications that I migrated over were acting strange. So I re-formatted my drive "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and the problem has seemed to have gone away. I think some applications and utilities including "software update" (in some instances) may not like a case sensitive file system. Also note that Apple ships their computers Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and I wonder how many companies including Apple beta test both "Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Case Sensitive" and "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Any application that writes to a intermediate file on the filesystem or relies on reading and writing to files on the file system could potentially be affected if it were developed on a non case sensitive systems and later deployed on a system that was case sensitive.

  • Pro Applications update

Is there a way to downdrade after installing Pro Applications updates 2010-2 and 2008-05?  The updates seem to have broken my programs.

    Oh no!
Are you saying they no longer launch?
Can you go back to a previous back up?
What apps are you referring to?
