Pro Picture Viewer Problems

I do not want to use Picture viewer to view .jpg, .tiff and any other picture type of file. Installation of Pro has automatically associated all these file types with Picture Viewer and Quicktime Control Panel does not let me uncheck the box creating the association. How do I fix this, short of uninstalling the whole program and demanding a refund?

You are probably using the compiler options to compile the code as a C++ module causing the name mangling for the external routines.
You need to tell the VC++ compiler to generate strictly C code (not C++ mangled code).
How would you be able to run the SELECT queries in your program without first establishing a connection?
Your program compiles fine for me. But when you run without a connection established, you would get ORA-01012: not logged on
But then, there is no error handling in the code either.

  • Windows picture viewer fails Acrobat TIF to PDF conversion

Hi. I have some users running Acrobat Pro 9 in batch mode to convert TIF to PDF and run OCRing tasks.  Some multi-page TIFs with large color pictures do not convert correctly, and some pieces are missing.  We think that Acrobat uses the default picture viewer as the imaging enging or whatever.  We have tried opening the images that fail to convert, using the Windows picture viewer, and the viewer fails to display all of the color image - so this does not appear to be an Acrobat problem, but a viewer problem.
Is this a known problem; is there a workaround?  Otherwise can someone recommend an alternate image/TIF viewer that will work better for this process?
    THANKS!

Have you tried changing the program that opens tif files by default to something else (like Photoshop or Paint) and rebooting?

  • Picture Viewer Crashes

    Hello,
Here is the problem I've been having, I installed Quicktime, everything worked fine and I have Quicktime Picture Viewer as my default viewer (I miss my mac). I was able to use it for some time, then when it starts to open the window which asks me to upgrade to Quicktime pro it crashes. I've tried reinstalls and updates but to no avail. Then I reformatted my Hard Drive, and the same issue is happening. Any ideas?

Thanks, this got me to the answer. Specifically, checking for full permissions under my user name.
I am not sure if it was changing the permissions for QuickTime.qts, that did the trick, Because at the same time I also right-clicked on PictureViewer.exe, went to Properties and along with changing the permissions under the Security tab, I went to the Compatability tab and under Priviledge Level, I clicked on "Run this program as an administrator".  The only downside is I now get that annoying pop-up whenever I open the program saying "do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer", but that is a minor inconvenience.
    Thanks again for you help!

  • Images too bright in PSE, good in Windows Picture Viewer.

    Hi:
My question is this, I shot some pictures of my son last weekend, in studio,
with a Nikon D2X camera, and a softbox lightbank mounted on a Balcar
flash head. I set the camera to RAW-JPEG Fine, ISO 100, and used a
Minolta flashmeter to measure the light from the strobe. The reading was
f/8 and 2/3. The images look good in the LCD camera display, but when
I see them in my PC display, they look way too bright in Photoshop Elements 7.0,
but they look fine in the Windows XP SP3 Picture Viewer.
Why is this?. If I adjust the contrast and brightness in PSE, then they look too dark
when I check them in Windows Picture Viewer...
Also, the highlights look a little burned out in both, PSE and Windows Picture Viewer,
but the problem looks more evident in PSE. This happens often when I shoot pictures
    using strobe lights.
Can you help me with this two problems?.
I have attached one of the pictures so you can take a look at it.
    Thanks.

As to why the photo looks different in PSE than in Windows Picture And Fax Viewer, there are two possibilities:
    1. Your display may have a color profile associated with it, either because you calibrated it with a calibrator or a profile was installed by the disk that came with your display.  PSE is "color managed" and will adjust the colors of a photo based on the display's color profile, whereas Windows Picture And Fax Viewer will not.  If you want fine control over accurate display of colors on your display, you'll need to calibrate it if you haven't already, and you should then only use color-managed programs like PSE to view your photos.
    2. The photo you posted indicates that you've set your camera to use the Adobe RGB color space for JPEGs.  The Organizer has a bug and doesn't display the thumbnails (even large thumbnails) of such photos correctly.  The Organizer's Display > Full Screen (F11) and the Editor do display such photos correctly.  I'm not sure if this particular photo will trigger the bug, because of the way Nikon in particular stores color profiles in JPEGs.  You could see if you're getting hit by this bug by:
    a. Open the photo in the Editor.
    b. In the Organizer, make the photo's thumbnail as large as possible (not Full Screen view).
    c. Adjust the zoom of the photo in th Editor to be about as large as the one in the Organizer.
    d. Use Ctrl Tab to switch quickly between the two.  If you see differences, you're encountering the bug.

As discussed in numerous threads already, the new viewer has not been approved by Apple yet.
If you’re a pro or enterprise customer you can create your own viewer app. If not, you’ll have to wait or roll back to the older tools.

  • PS icons show instead of photo thumbnails on Picture Viewer

I've loaded CS3 on a new laptop---Windows 7.  CS3 Bridge and Photoshop work great, however the thumbnails show the PS icon instead of the photo in picture viewer.  I'm sure I'm missing a file or have one in the wrong location.  Any idea how to repair the problem?
    Thank you!  Randy Black

Thanks for your speedy reply, Curt!  Just the RAW icons are showing up---the JPEG's are OK.  I do have ACR 4.6 loaded in the following location:
Program files (X86)/common files/adobe/plug-ins/CS3/file formats.  The file is Camera Raw, Type 8BI.  I also checked in the "other" Adobe file to make sure I didn't have a duplicate of the RAW file there-looks OK.  Bridge works great-just showing the PS icon in the "Picture Viewer."
I've evidently accidently deleted a file today as I have been able to view RAW thumbnails until today.
Thanks again!  Have a great week!

  • Incompatibility between JDK 1.4 and Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer

I have noticed an incompatibility between JPG files that are output from Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer and read in by JDK 1.4 (or 1.4.1). In particular, when an image is transfered from a digital camera to a Windows XP machine, then rotated and saved in the Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer, the resulting image file appears with corrupted colors when read and saved by the ImageIO class in JDK 1.4.
    Here is my code:
         import java.awt.image.BufferedImage;
         import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
         BufferedImage buffImg = ImageIO.read (new File ("in.jpg"));
         ImageIO.write (buffImg, "jpg", new File ("out.jpg"));
I have also output the file with graphics format PNG and seen similar apparent corruption of colors.
This is an image that was loaded onto Windows XP from a digital camera then rotated 90 degrees and saved with the Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer:
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/verticalOrig.jpg
Here is the same image read and written by JDK 1.4 ImageIO.read() and ImageIO.write():
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/verticalJavaOut.jpg
Note that the colors appear corrupted in the above image.
This is an image copied directly from a Sony Cybershot DSC - P71 digital camera:
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/horizontalOrig.jpg
Here is the same image read and written by JDK 1.4 ImageIO.read() and ImageIO.write():
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/horizontalJavaOut.jpg
It appears fine (brilliant tropical colors).
Note that both images contain the "EXIF" header, which is the JPEG-like format used by many digital cameras. Some may say that the JDK 1.4 spec does not support EXIF, but the image not touched by Windows XP was read successfully. And other image editing programs read in both successfully, such as PaintshopPro and the Mozilla 1.0 web browser. But there is a specific incompatibility with JDK 1.4.
I have reproduced this problem on Windows NT 4 and Red Hat Linux 7.3 using an image file that was saved on Windows XP.
Here is a warning from Nikon about the behavior of Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer:
    http://www.dpreview.com/news/0112/01121402nikonxpwarnings.asp
    Does anybody know a workaround?

This is scary and explains why some of my Exif headers are trashed.
I would guess the problem has something to do with XP not writing the file back out 100% true to the JPEG spec.
Really annoying that they do this. They think they can just hack up and change standards that are not their own. Take their FTP client in Windows XP. Talk about a broken client.
My suggestion is to dis-associate jpegs with XP's image and fax viewer. Instead associate them with Mozilla.

  • Lots of noise in the windows picture-viewer - What can I do?

    Hello folks,
I hava a problem I just noticed. My very first pregnancy pictures have a lot of noise after I saved them as a jpg-file. It's a pretty dark picture in Black&White. In Photoshop it looks great and I noticed that it also looks great in Windows 8 new photo-App. Only the "old" picture-viewer shows all the noise that actually isn't there. My problem now is that, if I send the pics to my customers, the could be pretty dissappointed when they see the bad result that really isn't a bad result at all. And it would be pretty stupid to tell them not to use the picture-viewer or ignore the noise that actually isn't there....
Now my problem: Did I make a mistake during the saving-progress as a jpg-image?
What needs to be done to have a good-looking result, no matter which software or program opens the picture?
    Thanks so much from Germany,
    Alexander
PS: The noise is now not seen in the picture above. But it is when I use the picture-viewer.

    Hello again,
thanks for your help. I treid the steps you told me. "RGB Color" was already checked as well as "convert to SRGB". I tried to convert to adobe RGB and also removed the profile and saved a new JPG each time - with no difference, unfortunately.
Could it maybe have something to do with "Grayscale" since it is a black&white picture?
I'm very confused with that whole subject. The problem is that the pics aren't saved with all that noise in them, it's the picture viewer simply deceiving us. And most people use that software to watch their pics that way..... I can already imagine the complaint from the woman in the pics....
I hope you have some more advice for me.
    Thanks,
    Alex

  • Import Settings or Viewing Problem

I have just imported some pictures from my Canon Powershot G15 and I seem to have a problem with my settings.  This is a new issue for me.  I have also just imported shots taken on my Canon 5D MkII without any problem.  The G15 shots seem to have had a 'tilt' applied, which has created white areas.  These were not on the original shots when viewed in the Import module, nor are they visible in the the file when viewed using Microsoft picture viewer so it must be a setting LR is applying.
The only Import setting I am using is Copyright, although I did start with a lens correction in the Develop Settings but removed it for some test shots.
My attached image shows the two screens I use with LR5 on the left and Windows viewer on the right.  You can see the white area in the shot on the left, which is absent from the same shot viewed in Windows.  Both are RAW files.
This is a new problem and I'd appreciate any help
    Scott

Update - I have just opened the image from LR5 into Photoshop CC and the problem persists, i.e. it opens with the same areas but they are transparent in PS.  I tried opening direct from explorer into ACR and same problem.  LR and PS are 'seeing' something in these files that make them open with distortion.

  • Cover Flow view problems

Hello Everyone and congratulations for the Support Forum!
I am experiencing Cover Flow view problems since I installed iTunes 10 on my windows based laptop.
I here enclose address of a picture to let you better understand which the problem is.
    http://img684.imageshack.us/i/itunescoverflow.jpg/
I kindly ask you for providing a solution on the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Antonio

    Hi,
    I found the solution here : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12623727&#12623727
    I rebuilt my library...
    Enjoy :-D

  • My pdf's will not dl either and nothing will open except qt picture viewer.

my pdf's will not dl either and nothing will open except qt picture viewer. quick time is over riding pdf files. is there a check mark to take off somewhere. quick time should not over power pdf files.

I can't explain the cause to the problem - but I found two "work-arounds" to get me running again.
    Workaround #1:
I found another program (and there are many) on the web that will also read .pdf files.  I downloaded  "Foxit Reader" , installed it and it works.  I can now view my pdf docs!
However - I got so used to Adobe Reader - I really wanted to get Reader working again.
    Workaround #2:
    I re-installed Adobe Reader 8.
Instead of running the usual Adobe installation script that I got from the web, I copied (from another PC's C-drive)  the "Reader 8.0" folder and all its contents into my current C- drive directory structure  C:\Program Files\Adobe\.
I re-booted the PC and can now open my pdf files using Reader 8.
It seems to work - but I don't know what the effects of this installation method will have in the future - or the interaction it will have with other programs.  I guess when I need to remove the program in the future  - I'll have to do it manually, since it doesn't even register in the "Add or Remove Programs" under Control Panel.
    ===============
Hope this helps out anyone else with similar symptoms.
In the original problem, it's unfortunate that there were no error messages whatsoever when I tried opening the pdf files.  It was like as if Reader was not even activated or even loaded on my PC.  I'll bug me for a while - but at least I got Reader working again (for now....)!

  • Did apple do away with Picture Viewer?

I just updated the latest QuickTime - and Picture Viewer is gone.  So, I deleted QuickTime and downloaded it as new - thinking that would help (I thought maybe something went wrong with the update).
Nope - still no Picture Viewer.
This is very disappointing as the QuickTime Picture Viewer was FAR superior than what comes on my PC.
Am I the only one with this problem?  And, if I am, what can I do to correct it?

QuickTime for Java and QuickTime PictureViewer are no longer installed by default. They are removed if you have a previous version of QuickTime on your PC. If you still need these legacy features, you can add them back using the new custom setup option in the installer.

  • Dynamic picture viewer

    Dynamic picture viewer.
    Please check out this url,
    http://www.discrete-properties.com/imageView/picView.htm
it has the swf of the picture viewer, that I am trying to
create, it also has alink to the source code, for anyone that is
    interested in helping.. thanks.
problem 1... I want to speed up the animation, however to do
this I would need to use +=20 instead of ++, however that causes
problems for the animation of the picture border as it does not
know when to stop the animation, as it is incrementing in 20, not
    by 1.
problem 2... The masking image animation starts before the
image has loaded that needs to be masked.
problem 3... The masking animation does not always play.
If you could take a look that would be great.. I am still
fairly new to this and self taught so I apologies for how dirty the
    actionscripting is!!!!
    http://www.discrete-properties.com/imageView/picView.htm
    Thanks in advance.

Make the FPS go up, that solves problem 1
I don't know what you mean by problem 2 and 3...
If you want the mast image animation to start before the
image has loaded, I would suggest to make it "play()" as soon as
the item is clicked, but you need to know how big to resize it. If
you mean that there's a problem because it plays before it's
loaded, then... there is no problem :/. I looked at it and it
didn't play when it was loading.
Mask animation is always playing :/, solves problem 3 xD

  • Changing default picture viewer via GPO without changing image type and icon (Windows 7)

    Hello,
I am trying to change the default picture viewer for some file extensions (.bmp, .jpeg, .png and .tiff). Actually Windows Photo Viewer is the default viewer and we need to replace it with Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
I managed to do that change via GPO using the 'open with' preference under User Configuration\ Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options. So now the files are opened with Microsoft Office Picture Manager (office 2010). The problem is that the image
type became 'OIS.EXE' for all the specified file extensions. Moreover the icon is now the same (Microsoft Office 2010).
When I change manually the associated program for a file extension, the icon change but no the image type... this is different using GPO.
Is there a solution in order to change the default program but keeping the image type and associated icon ?
I tried to do that modification using the 'new file type' preference under Computer Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options. I specified the 'open' action for OIS.exe, selected file extension BMP with associated class 'Bitmap Image'.
It solves the problem for image type, Microsoft Office Picture Manager opens the files ... but I have to specify the icon file path and icon index and I don't know where I can find the default icons for the file extensions ...
What is the best solution ? Am I right ? Am I doing something wrong ?
    Thank you in advance !

    Hello,
thank you very much for your answers.
For the rollback, I will reimport the original/default keys for all the image types, this should be ok.
Here are the problems I have trying to pu Microsoft Office Picture Manager as default picture viewer (I just want  .bmp, .jpg ... files to be opened with Microsoft Office Picture Manager by default).
1 Using new file type under Computer Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\folder options. : I define a new file type (BMP for example), associated class Bitmap Image, I configure the icon (imageres.dll,65) and an open action where OIS.EXE
is the application used to perform the action.
Result : Icon is correct, file type is correct, image files are opened with OIS.EXE (correct) ... BUT now Microsoft Office 2010 appears twice in open or open with menu
2 Using new open with under User configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options : new open with preference, action (update or replace same result), file extension BMP, associated program (path to OIS.EXE), i check set as default.
Result : Office 2010 opens image files (correct) but icon is Office 2010 one and the file type is now 'OIS.EXE' for all image file extensions I have specified ... so it won't be possible to sort the file by image type if I select that method...
3 Using ftype : OIS.EXE doesn't open the file when I double click on it but Microsoft Office 2010 appears twice in the open or open with list ...
I am a bit lost ... what is the best method to put Microsoft Office Picture Manager as default picture viewer, keeping the image type (Bitmap image, JPEG image etc) and without having Microsoft Office 2010 twice in the open or open with list ??
Last question : by default an image file is opened and previewed with Windows Photo viewer and edited with Paint. I would like just to open images with Office 2010 but keep Windows Photo viewer for preview and Paint for edit ... Is it possible ??
Thank you in advance for any help and support !!

  • Design View differs from Live view problem

I have Dreamweaver CS5.5 with Mac OS 10.7.3 on an iMac. I have the same set-up on a Macbook Pro 17
The problem is that the Design view is showing different fonts and not picking up layout as per CSS style but the Live view is all correct.
All is fine on the laptop so it is my iMac specific glytch
I have checked the settings for diplaying CSS styles and they are ticked
I have switched off the activation settings for Suitcase Fusion 3 in case of conflict there
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Dreamweaver
I think it a font-related problem as the design view only seems to want to display non-serif fonts.
Am I doomed to only use the lap-top in my web work?
I hope someone can advise as I am rather frustrated

I think that's just the way it is...
