Pro Res Codec Launch Problem with Premiere CS6

Having a problem opening my .prproj file after re-installing Yosemite on Mac. Funny enough, I had this problem before because I was working with a Pro Res sequence.
Followed these instructions to get the codecs on my Mac since I don't have FCP --- http://www.martin-thoburn.com/vj/install-apple-prores-codec-without-final-cut/
Still not opening. I get this message: "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."

    Hello,
Premiere CS6 is showing as downloaded in my creative cloud apps, but is not on my computer. I can't uninstall it (because its not there) and reinstall and I can't download it again until I've uninstall it (but there's nothing to uninstall). I'm not sure how this has happened but can anyone help, I use CS6 for work.
    Cheers.

  • Problems with Premiere CS6 and NVIDIA Quadro 4000

My system was working fine, but recently I started to get pop-up windows from the NVTransmit plug. These interrupted editing, and also encoding is taking as long as it did before I got the Quadro. NVIDIA support gave me new drivers and re-installed teh NV Transmit but nothing helped. My Premeiere CS6 is up to date at 6.0.2. Could this recent update be causing the problem? Any other ideas, and have you had the problem?

I have 64 bit windows 7 and CS4 Production Premium. I have a problem with Premiere Pro CS4, it keeps freezing and Crashing. A simple thing like leaving the project idle for about 15 minutes, you come back and find that it has frozen. Also if you drag out a clip on the timeline you will find that the whole application freezes. Any possible solutions would be much appreciated.

Could be several factors at play here. This ARTICLE might give you some tips on getting your computer ready for an editing session. Note that there are some added tips on Win7, thanks to Black Viper, near the end.

  • Pro Res 422 (Proxy) in Adobe Premiere

Guys, I've been having the most monumental problems today and in order to have a back up in case the doo doo hits the blades can the following be done?
I've got 12 Sequences which have been edited in a mix of Pro Res 422 (Proxy) and Pro Res 422.
    The original files are AVCHD.
I'm unable to either access Media Manager or Batch Capture as FCP 7 just crashes.
If I was to give the Pro Res Sequences to my client can he then convert them to a suitable format on Adobe Premiere?
I really am at my wits end
EDIT: OK. I've just read that Pro Res cannot be imported into Premiere
So, lads, what can I do to give a final format to my client so that he can then author a DVD?
Message was edited by: Alpesh Gor

WHo says Premiere doesn't import ProRes? It has since CS3.
And why not try to solve your problem? Trash your prefs?

Shane's Stock Answer #44: FCP acting weird or unusual. Just not like is normally should
If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/trashing_fcpprefs.html
    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
    3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.
    4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

  • Does Pro-Res codec yield better quality from AVCHD files than AIC?

    Hi folks,
I use FCE4 and ingest AVCHD for editing. I'm wondering if, for example, I ingested with the Pro-Res codec (eg. such as when using Final Cut Pro or FCX), would that be a higher quality transcoder than the inherent Apple Intermediate Codec that is part of FCE4? In other words, if I upgraded my software, would I likely get better quality?
FYI: I shoot with a single chip AVCHD camcorder, in case that matters.
    Thanks,
    Vixter

If you are running Lion, then FCPX is the only way forward unless you go with a non-Apple editing suite.  For what it's worth, I think FCPX has gotten a bum rap overall.  It's quite powerful compared to the old FCE even with its current limitations.  Apple will continue to improve the program over time, and no one should discount the foresight that Apple actually does have in its product lines.  The FCPX user interface and the method of editing is quite different compared to FCE, and takes a lot of adjustment if you were familiar with FCE or FCP.  For general purpose editing, even prosumer editing, FCPX is quite an application, even if it's not quite ready for broadcasters & professionally employed editors.
The best way to find out is to try it out - it's available as a free 30-day trial so you can see for yourself whether or not it works for you.  You can read all about it elsewhere and of course people in these forums have their opinions one way or the other.  As I long ago discovered about wine, there is no definitively good or bad wine ... just wine that we ourselves like because it satisfies our individual tastes and conditions.  I don't concern myself with Robert Parker's opinions.  In fact I think a lot of his 95+ rated wines stink!  If you follow my drift ...

  • How to Get Pro Res Codec

    Hi,
I use FCP and Motion on my MacPro and often use Motion to create backgrounds for Keynote presentations. I used to use H264 as my export codec but find that it can wash out colours. Yesterday I decided to give the Pro Res codec a try and it seemed to do a great job with file sizes about half of those with Animation (the other codec I have tried).
Today I tried to play back the Keynote on my new MacBook Air (which I haven't installed FCP onto). The video doesn't play either in Keynote or Quicktime–I'm assuming this is because the codec is missing.
Is there a way I can install just this on to the MBA in order that I can play content I create?
    Many thanks
    David

  • Problem with Photoshop CS6. If I open a file using Camera RAW

I have a new problem with Photoshop CS6.  If I open a file using Camera RAW, and process it as usual, CS6 doesn't want to save it the way it used to.  I don't know if I changed something by accident or not.
Here's what happens now: After opening from ACR to CS6 and completinhg all of my work, I choose "Save as..."  The save as window opens showing the file name and format.  The default format seems to be .PSD.  I use the drop down to select .jpg.  The file saves normally as a .jpg.  When I go to close the image from, I get a new prompt asking, "Save changes to Adobe Photoshop document DSC_xxxx.NEF before closing?
I looked up at the file name in the bar above the work space and noticed that it does NOT change from "DSC_xxxx.NEF" to "DSC_xxxx.jpg" after I have saved the file as a .jpg,in my webesite  but it always used to do that.  This adds a few extra steps when closing a document and it really slows me down.
In fact, I wouldn't swear to this, but I think it used to save to .jpg by default, without me specifying this.
I don't see a setting in the preferences for what to use as the default file format for saving, so I don't know where to change it back.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    wen6275,
It looks like you're actually using a camera or phone to take a photo of your monitor.
That's not what is commonly known as a "screen shot".
It looks like you're on a Mac.  Hitting Command+Shift+3 places a capture of the contents of your entire monitor on your Desktop; hitting Command+Shift+4 will give you a cross-hairs cursor for you to select just the portion you want to capture.
I'm mentioning this because I fear I'm not construing your original post correctly when you type "I am working with a large files [sic], currently it has 149 layers, all of which are high resolution photographs", so I'm wondering if there's some similar use of your own idiosyncratic nomenclature in your description of your troublesome file.
Perhaps I'm just having a major senior moment myself, but I'm utterly unable to imagine such a file.  Would you mind elaborating?
