Pro-Tools won't open.

I never touch my Pro Tools except for when I am going to work on something I receive that was made on Pro Tools. My situation is that everytime that I try to open Pro Tools(since I upgraded to 7.2.3) it gives me a message stating that "other devices are connected to the interface". I make sure every other application is closed but it still shows this message after attempting to open.
Any sugestions?

Thanks apostol13,
You need to make SURE the Digidesign Core Audio Manager software, which Logic and iTunes use to "talk" to Digi hardware, is NOT running. if ti IS, turn it off.
Then PT will start up.

  • Pro Tools won't open and strange Warning message

I have been using Pro Tools 11.3 successfully for about a month. I just did an OS X update a week or so ago. I also did a Pro Tools update about a week ago (to 11.3.1). I went to open PT and the app opened, but my top menu never came up. It was just the normal Finder menu, but with my Pro Tools interface open where I could see all the tracks, etc. Clicking to desktop and back to PT several times did nothing.
I closed PT and did a Disk Utility "Repair Permissions". As the repair started up, the progress text gave me the warning below. I'm trying to figure out what it means. If it is a Mac thing or a Pro Tools issue. If someone can help me I would sincerely appreciate it.
<<<<<< Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.>>>>>>>>>>
The repair progress continues with this:
<<<<<<Group differs on “Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist”; should be 80; group is 0.Permissions differ on “Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist”; should be -rw-rw-rw- ; they are -rw-r--r-- .Repaired “Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist”User differs on “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”; should be 0; user is 244.Group differs on “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”; should be 0; group is 244.Repaired “private/var/db/displaypolicyd”>>>>>>>>>>>>
I've never seen this message before and wonder it is part of the problem or signals what the problem is. I have downloaded a few free Pro Tools plugins. If anyone can help, I would sincerely appreciate it.
    Thank you,

  • Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.

I'm a Pro Tools user, who just did an "Archive and Install" installation of 10.5.8 over my 10.4.11 on my 2 Ghz G5, now Pro Tools won't launch.  I checked the extensions folder and sure enough, the digidesign extensions were left behind.  Can I revert back to the "Archive" of my 10.4.11 System from the "Previous Systems" folder?  If not, what's the point of creating the "archive"?

Did you select "Preserve User Settings"?
Archive and Install installation automatically moves existing system files to a folder named Previous System, then installs Mac OS X again. (See tip 3.) You cannot start up your computer using a Previous System folder, nor can you "re-bless" the Previous System folder. (See tip 1.)
You can choose to preserve your user and network settings before installing. This option automatically moves existing users, Home directories, and network settings. This also skips the Setup Assistant after installation.
Note: Because the "Preserve user and network settings" option moves, not copies, existing users, Home directories, and network settings, from the Previous Systems folder to the newly installed System, these items will not exist in the Previous Systems folder after the Archive and Install is complete.

Purchased acrobat pro but won't open when I sign in

    Hi Coloredge,
What operating system are you on, and what happens when you try to open Acrobat? Do you receive any sort of error message?  Did you run into any trouble when you downloaded and installed Acrobat?
I look forward to hearing back from you so that we can get to the bottom of this.

  • Photoshop CC hidden tools won't open

    Hidden tools won't open.

Sounds like the updater failed and you still have older plugins, or you copied plugins from an older version that you shouldn't have.
Not launching Photoshop means that the binary is corrupt or the updater failed.
Usually uninstalling and reinstalling, then re-updating, is the quickest way to solve it.

  • My premiere pro cc won't open

    Hello,
I have the creative cloud suite and am trying to open premiere pro but it won't open.  I've used it in the past on this same computer.  What gives?

    Hi Alex,
I'll Show you that there are some sources of error:
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
2, Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"? Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
4.If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.
    Good luck!

  • Acrobat pro 9 won't open pdf files

Just downloaded trial version of pro 9 for Mac.  I tried to install pro 8 and found out that it is not compatible with snow leopard.  The uninstall in version 8 is also not compatible with snow leopard.  So I had all kinds of trouble uninstalling version 8.  This may be the problem.  I finally got version 8 off the Mac but the uninstall may not be complete.  I installed version 9 and I'm having all the same problems that I did after I installed 8.
The uninstall of version 9 worked and I tried reinstalling it.  Still won't open a pfd file.  The main problem is that I get the following error when I click on a pdf file.
"The document “5 Chptr 2010.pdf” could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the “Adobe PDF document” format."
What do I need to do to get version 9 to work????
Also when I click on the Acrobat icon in my tray the program does not launch.  All I get is the menu bar at the top of my screen.  On my windows machine when I open acrobat I get the "wizard" screen that allows me to select what tasks I want to do.  And when I try to create a pdf file from a msoffice word document it won't allow me to convert the document.  I get the following error message.
"Acrobat could not open 'This is a test document.doc' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF or use the Acrobat toolbar found in Microsoft Office applications."

    Hi rms,
Have you installed Acrobat X and XI Pro both on the same Mac.
Adobe doesn't recommend coexixting different versions of the same software.
Please remove both the versions and install any one of them and then check.
Also make sure you have updated Acrobat to the latest patch.
    For 10 it's v 10.1.9 and for 11 it's v11.0.6
    Regards,

Photoshop CS4 stopped opening fully...(It seems to open, the menu is there but no tools and files won't open)...  I re-installed from a downloaded file and the same thing is happening.  Any suggestions?

When you uninstall, check "remove settings", then run the CS cleaner tool.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Then reinstall

  • Pro Tools won't install.  Startup disk full-not true.

I'm trying to install Pro Tools 10.2 on a Mac Book Pro OS X 10.7.4.  I'm doing a clean install, but the installation won't complete.  It bogs down half way through.  I finally have to force quit the installer because it says my startup disk is full.  This is not true because I have 500 gig of memory left on my drive.  My trash is empty.  I don't know what to do.

You seem to know that an Intel Mac requires a drive formatted with a GUID partition table to boot from it, so that much of your scheme should work, even if you are formatting the drive from 10.4.4 via Target Disk Mode with a PPC Mac, as long as you are using a version of Disk Utility that offers the GUID partition table formatting option (in the Partition tab, in the "Options..." drop down sheet.)
However, it isn't clear if you are then trying to install the OS onto the Intel iMac while still in Target Disk Mode, or which installer you are using. As already explained, you can't install an Intel version of the OS from a PPC Mac while in TDM -- as far as the installer knows, the target is just a drive attached to the PPC Mac, so it will inform you that the Intel OS version can't be used with that Mac.
So, the solution is to make sure the drive is formatted with the GUID table & then install the OS onto the Intel iMac while booting it from the iMac's own installer disk. If necessary, you can access the installer's version of Disk Utility before you begin the installation by selecting it from the "Utilities" menu & checking or reformatting the drive before the install.
This should work fine, unless for some reason you cannot boot the iMac from its original installer disk. If that is the case, please let us know.

  • Logic Pro 8 Won't Open-Stops At Updating Audio Units Info

Did searches, and found people having trouble could use AU manager, but it won't open, and when going to preferences/AU manager, it closes. Now, I looked in the Library for AUs(Both reg, and users audio), and can't find anything. Want to check here before re-installing everything. What I find interesting, is that, though reading that the AU plug-ins have to be in one of two places, they aren't on my desktop(Where LP8 is running fine, so curious why that is also. Any help is appreciated.

    So you have checked:

If the OP has no 3rd party plugins, just the Logic ones, those folders should be empty... and the AU manager would be empty too... the native plugs don't show up in it.
But this particular issue sounds familiar, something in the link-collection...
    (off to check...)
    Found it...
Claude, although I am sceptical if it will work in your case, it just might, so you should try it anyway:

  • Logic Pro X won't open big session

So I'm in the middle of preparing a backing track for my band, and have a big session going. Yesterday I was working on it for hours, without any problems, then it crashed. Afterwards, I was having trouble opening it. I click the icon, and it starts loading in everything, until it comes to "whatever plug-in", and then just stops loading. I then force the program to shut down and it says "not responding".
I've tried opening up a new session, and importing all the tracks. I then wanted to freeze some of the tracks.. It crashes, and same problem again.. Just won't continue loading.
I've tried launching Logic Pro X without the Audio Core, and simply trying to turn it on once it actually opens, but it just freezes, and I have to force a shut down of the program.
Can the simple solution simply be that it's simply too old, and don't have the specs needed to run a big session (since it's also always complaining about System Overload), and I know Logic needs 4 GB RAM to run.. So yeah..
Is there anything I can do to make this work? Please I'm desperate.. I need to have this done soon.
    Some info on the hardware:
    Runs OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    Macbook Pro 17" (medio 2010)
Processor: 2,53 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Create a new project and use the Selective Track Import (STI) feature to import some of the tracks into the new project..
Bounce (BiP) some of these Tracks in Place (or freeze) and then import some more of the tracks into the same new project using STI.... BiP or Freeze and repeat....
    http://music.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-use-selective-track-import-in-logic-p ro-9--audio-3181
Note: The tutorial is for LP9 but STI works much the same way in LPX too.
