Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Repeat Installation

The recent Pro Video Format 2.0.1 update will not successfully update for me.
Refreshing the App Store after installing brings it up as another update, despite both the App Store and System Information registering the installs.

  • Why do I have to repeatedly install Pro Video Formats 2.0.1

On April 21 the App Store notified me of the update to Pro Video Formats 2.0.1.  At least twice every day since then, I've received an update notice for what appears to be exactly the same update, even though I keep installing it after each notification.  My "Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days" list currently is showing 12 instances of the installation of the same thing with the same name, version number, and description.  What is the problem?
Am running Mavericks 10.9.5 on a 15" Retina Macbook if that matters

    Finally we have the SOLUTION, and it is Official by Apple. I read it in another thread, Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Repeat Installation, but it was missing some very important information. Here there are the correct steps;
    1. Be sure all applications are closed, since you are going to restart twice.
    1. Copy the Folder Macintosh HD/Library/QuickTime to another HD or Desktop, if you use the Desktop, rename it to QuickTimebk or something you wish.
    2. Trash all the files contained in original folder Macintosh HD/Library/QuickTime/
    3. Open App Store and Install the Software Update Pro Video Formats 2.0.1
    4. Close all windows and App Store and Restart your computer.
    5. open the original Folder Macintosh HD/Library/QuickTime, you will find all the files installed by the update Pro Video Formats 2.0.1
    6. from the QuickTimebk (backup on desktop or else) folder, copy/paste or drag into the original QuickTime folder, all missing files you were using,
like perian.component, Flip4Mac, LiveType, DVCPROHDMuxer DVCPROHDVideo, etc. While doing this, be careful do not overwrite any file, check names.
    7. Close all windows, and Restart computer again.
    8. Open App Store again and enjoy not seeing the update request for Pro Video Formats 2.0.1. Use your computer as usual.
See you in the next issue.

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 update keeps showing

No matter how many times I run the updates, the Mac App Store keeps showing me the Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 update for Final Cut. Not sure what is going on or why it keeps showing as an update. It seems to install, but a few days later, it shows up n again as an uninstalled update even though my update history shows that it was already installed.
Has anyone else had this issue, or have a clue what I can do to stop the madness?

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Update Keeps Requesting Installation

    Apple Community!
The Apple Software Update (First appearance: April 22, 2015) Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Update Keeps Requesting Installation. (10 times now it has reappeared and requested installation... after what appears to be a successful installation.) I have seen the references from the many other users with this problem to Downloading it (separately) from Apple Support (as "Apple" instructed.) I did this (and saved my Library's QuickTime Folder as a BU) ... and it still has not resolved the "Loop" of App Store Update Notifications.
I would rather not use any shareware installer. I have Repaired all Permissions. There seems to be a "Hidden" file within the QuickTime (Library) Folder. 12 Pro Video component files are listed in my QT Folder and visible, but if attempting a delete, 13 are moved. I have not deleted them.
The Yosemite Support Community seems stuck on several different (often untested) suggested solutions that do not work... I am trying the FinalCut Pro X Community as these all seem to be Pro Video Issues and someone out there has had to deal with this. (FYI: I am a RED Shooter)
If someone has insight for a successful (and tested) resolution, it would be appreciated... especially if it is actually someone at Apple! Thanks!

Thanks! (Tom Wolsky's) trick of Deleting: /Library/QuickTime/AppleMXFImport.component fixed it for me. Thank you for pointing me to the solution!

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 software update ask me to update repeat in loop

Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 appear in MAS as software update available. I  click update and it get installed, showing up in the list of updated software. But after I close MAS, then start it again, Provideo Formats 2.0.1 show up again asking me to update. And it loop over and over.
Any expert or friend here experience the problem I reported here, and hw to workaround so that it will not show up and loop itself
    Help please

Same here on 2 different MacBook Pros (a 2012 old-school model and a 2014 retina) running 10.10.3. I've tried downloading and installing the update manually, this has no effect.
I observe that under About This Mac - > System Report -> Software -> Installations it shows the Pro Video Formats update being applied over and over. The one with no version number is the installation from a downloaded DMG file found here: Pro Video Formats 2.0.1
My hunch is that this is the result of a broken receipt from MAS, we'll see.

  • How do I get Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 to stop appearing in Mac App Store after I've installed it?

Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 appeared in my App Store a few weeks back (I'm running an 2011 MBP with 10.10.4 and have been using the betas). I installed it, and it continues to appear as an update every day. No matter how many times I install it, it continually comes back. I even wiped out all of my codecs in /Library/Quicktime, reinstalled the PVF. I downloaded the standalone installer, ran that. No change. I've seen a few mentions of this online, but hoping for a fix!

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Update Problem

Hello, the "Pro Video Formats 2.0.1" update keeps reappearing in my update list, after I've already downloaded and installed the update. It will say it is installed successfully, then check for updates again, and the same update will appear. No matter how many times I install it.
How can I fix this problem?
    Thank you in advance!

Me too. And I'm having a further problem with my iMac monitor and mouse. The movements of the latter are either way too slow or way too fast. I suspect these have something to do with the updates, but can't be sure. Definitely not the mouse, because it works fine on another Mac, running an earlier version of the system.

About 1 hour ago I quit FCPX with a project that was nearly finished.

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Update Keeps Reinstalling

Software Update keeps wanting to reinstall Pro Video Formats 2.0.1. Each time it appears to install successfully, but then Software Update wants to install it again. I've seen the same issue reported in the Community for a much earlier OS X version, but I'm experiencing it on 10.10.3.

Try re-indexing Spotlight. The App,Store uses it to know why is installed on the computer.

Ok, not sure why when I searched on "Pro Video 2.0.1" no answers were found, but when I posted my question I received multiple suggestions including the following most complete answer: https://discussions.apple.com/message/28150537#28150537
I believe this solves it, will find out in a bit.

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Software Update

Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Software Update appeared in my App Store updates a few days ago.  I did the update and it reappeared a few hours later.  I have now done it 4 times and its listed under updates installed in last 30 days 4 times. The last time I did this update was yesterday and its now reappeared again today as a required update.
Anyone know why this keeps reappearing when the update has been done.
    Thanks

    I'm having the same problems.
Here's what stopped the App Store Reload:
Delete all content (except "Core Audio" folder) in the "Library/Quicktime/" folder (copied to a temp folder elsewhere.)
    Restart
Install Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 from direct download: "ProVideoFormats.dmg"
    Restart
App Store shows everything for updates OK. Pro Video Formats cleared.
Next to determine from the QuickTime Library folder what formats can be reinserted.
