Pro9000 Mark II has smudges even after cleaning

I am at a loss to figure out how to fix this issue.  I am attempting to print a couple 8x10s for a client and every print has smudgy lines in it.  I've spent the last hour cleaning, deep cleaning, aligning print heads, roller cleaning and bottom plate cleaning, as well as wasting 3 ink cartriges and 6 sheet pieces of paper trying to fix this issue.  Can someone give me some guidence as to next steps?

It looks like you have ink or dirt on the rollers. Obviously the printers self cleaning is not going to fix it!
The 9000 is difficult to get inside of but that may be required. Are the smudges in the same place each time? How about running a lot of regular bond paper through it with out printing on it?

  • Major crashes even after clean install.  iCal/sqlite/MobileMe the culprit?

In 25 years of using Apple computers, I've never had problems like I'm having now.
My iMac was acting up severely with some strange symptoms such as:
    * The red & white portion of the iCal icon in the dock disappearing, while the date itself remained visible.
    * All kinds of 0K sqlite files showing up on the base level of the hard drive, and a lots of cfx pref files being generated (stuff like cfx#1t9Oiul -- these i understand to be corrupt pref files). The sqlite files, by the way, show up as things like etilqs_3HVA6IL9BWQtB9e
    * Freezes, generally slow behavior, and multiple crashes, including the "blue screen of death" where the color just shifts and the cursor comes and goes. Eventually, even after running DiskWarrior, I the computer would start up, then spontaneously shut itself down after the grey apple screen with the progress wheel.
Ultimately, I decided to just wipe the thing clean and start fresh from a backup.
Using a Leopard install disk, I attempted to do the clean install, but was unable to from the iMac's internal optical drive - the installer told me the disk was damaged or dirty (the optical drive is brand new, by the way).
Using a powerbook and putting the iMac in target mode, I was able to do a completely clean install.
I ran all the software updates and have added NO third party software.
    Problems are back:
Running a sync to get my calendar, contacts, and bookmarks back, I encountered my first problem again: address book wouldn't sync "due to inconsistent data" and told me to replace the data on the computer by resetting it -- which I attempted to do, multiple times, but the sync always failed.
Then , once again those sqlite files started showing up.
Then the iCal icon disappeared again and programs weren't responding. Moments ago I had to do a hard restart.
I've zapped the PRAM, I've tried everything I know, and I'm still having all these problems (some of which, by the way, are now beginning to occur on the PowerBook G4 I also have).
If anyone can provide me any guidance here, man would I love it. Is it possible the Leopard disk I have is somehow corrupted and is causing all these issues? Or is it hardware? Or is this some sort of problem that's being generated by synchronization?
I'm really at my wit's end.
Thanks to anyone who can give me a hand.
    Jon

Just wanted to update anyone who's interested:
After replacing the internal hard drive, all problems have ceased and my Mac is running beautifully -- fast (though I also upgraded the ram from 1 to 2 GB) and I couldn't be happier.
So just a word to the wise: those "software" problems I was so certain I was having turned out to be a hard drive that was slowly failing. A friend of mine who's a programmer said he's never heard of a hard drive failing anything but suddenly, but in this case that's what happened.
With the problems I was having, I was seriously beginning to question my loyalty to Apple.
As it turns out, now I'm questioning their loyalty to Western Digital -- that drive was a dog and I'm glad to have replaced it with a Seagate.

  • Macbook has constant beachball even after clean install

I upgraded my February 2010 unibody Macbook from Snow Leopard to Lion in July 2011 but after a few weeks it froze so often it was unuseable. I backed up all my stuff, reformated the HDD and re installed Snow Leopard from the original DVDs supplied with the notebook. I did not restore from Time Machine backup, just dragged and dropped from external HDD.
The Macbook was ok for a week or two but after that the beachball started appearing more and more often untill it was there almost constantly.
Beachball activity was at its worse with iTunes. Things got worse and worse until in the end the Macbook refused to boot at all, just went to the light blue screen with the Apple logo and rotating clock type thing and no further.
I inserted the original discs again, whiped the HDD, re inastalled Snow Leopard (it took 6 attempts to re install the OS, the first 5 times it just said INSTALLATION FAILED) but DID NOT transfer any backed up files or folders and kept the OS just as it was when it came out of the box.
I still get the beachball all the time and application icons in the dock just bounce up and down when clicked and most of the time don't open.
    I have a 250gb HDD and 4gb RAM
I connect to an external HDD every so often just to back up (Time Machine and manual transfer) I have Apple TV and my wifes Macbook (which works perfectly!) connected to iTunes homesharing but that's about it.
What could be causing this problem?

Yes, I'm afraid that's not good. The OS X SMART indicator is somewhat binary .... drive is good or not. Smart Utility gives you insights into the actual SMART indicators to give you a better idea on the health of the drive.
If you have a backup, you can erase the hard drive by doing a security erase which writes zero's to the hard drive, and also resets the bad sector table. That may only be temporary if there's a bigger issue, but you could try it.
If you have Applecare, Apple will replace the hard drive. If you don't have Applecare, did you perchance buy the system on a credit card? Some credit cards extend the manufacturers warranty, so may be worth checking on that. Otherwise, it may be time to consider a new hard drive in the near future (2.5" serial ATA or SATA 7200RPM although you can get slower and faster drives). If you get one yourself, I'd suggest one with a 5 year warranty versus 1 to 3 year warranty. Western Digital makes one that I use in their Scorpio Black line.  You can read user reviews on a number of available drives at     http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007605%2060000334 0&IsNodeId=1&name=7200%20RPM

  • Wifi Dropping Even After Clean Lion Install

    Hey guys,
I upgraded to Lion after its release and ever since then my wifi has been driving me CRAZY. The wifi disconnects, and when I click on my network I get the error that the connection timed out. I'm always forced to turn the wifi off and then back on.
It happened a TON, and consistently. It's extremely frustrating especially when I'm in the middle of a movie on my Apple TV and my iMac loses its internet and interupts the show. Sometimes it happens three or more times during one show.
So I decided to do a clean install of Lion. I made sure all my important documents were on my Hard Drive and even wrote a list out of every application that I use regularly. Then I completely reformated my hard drive and did a clean install of Lion.
But the issue is still happening. Still happening! I don't know what to do! Every computer in the house connects just fine and stays connected.
I'm tried changing my MTU in the hardware tab of the Advanced network settings to 1280 because some people reported that helped but it still doesn't help.
Please. I'm at a loss. The issue makes my iMac unusable and frustrating.

I would try rebooting while holding down the Command - R keys to get  into the Recovery Partition.  There, run Disk Repair and then run Repair Permissions twice.  If that doesn't completely resolve it the the next step is to reset the PRAM, by rebooting while holding down the Command-Option-P-R keys.  These may be the problem solvers you need.
    Hope this helps

  • Random Kernel Panics even after Clean Install from Genius Bar

Despite being "all apple" I'm about fed up with these kernel panics and ready to convert!
I believe these started with Lion... I'm now fully updated on Maverick.
    Nothing has seemed to change.
I took my iMac to the Genius Bar after I finally figured out a way to replicate a panic.
After all sorts of memory, and other hardware tests they suggested and performed a clean sweep.
I came home, restored with Time Machine, and thought all was well...
Now, a week later I'm back to having restarts in the middle of extensive projects.
I've had two in the past two hours.
I initially diagnosed it as anytime a large file (2GB+) was being moved, saved, or when a back up or virus scan was being performed.
Then it happened at other times and proved that wrong.
Then I assumed it was RAM. I took it out, cleaned, and performed multiple tests. All was good and up.
Then I could reproduce it while working with a LARGE file in iMovie.
Thats when I took it to the Bar.
Now, I'm long out of iMovie and working mainly in Google Chrome with nothing else opened, but Evernote, and FileZilla, which I have used for years.
The last two panics have included the :  0xdeadbeefdaadbeef
Could it be the grapics drivers? Using

  • MacBook Air 2010 Very Slow (even after clean reinstall)

    Hi,
    Problem
The performance of my Macbook Air 2010 has slowed to the point where I can hardly complete basic tasks. For comparison, I use a MacBook Air 2013 at work and do not experience the same performance issues, so I believe my expectations are not unreasonably high.
    My Question
Can you please advise on what I can do to troubleshoot? I've tried the solutions listed below, all of which have failed.
I'm grateful for any help you can offer.
    Problem Description
Switching contexts or tabs, operating within applications (such as Chrome, small Excel spreadsheets, navigating files), and browsing the Internet has become a slow, laggy and crash-filled experience.
When right-clicking an icon and selecting 'Open With', Finder frequently times out or requires time to populate a list of applications.
Machine is slow to the point where, unless a solution presents itself, I'll have to get a new MacBook Air.
    What I've Tried
'Religiously' close all applications after use; extremely conscientious of number of applications running and their resource requirements.
    Clean reinstall of OS X.
Storing all media on external hard drive to create more storage space.
Clearing cache for all browsers regularly
Always running machine on battery power
    Regular reboots
    Machine Specs:
    MacBook Air 13-inch, Late 2010
    OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2
Processor: 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
    Storage: 87GB free of 250GB

    Thanks, dominic23.
    Unfortunately, it did not work.
-Tried starting in safe mode, resetting SMC, and repairing disk. Resetting the SMC helped upon reboot, but performance degraded swiftly and back at a low within 30-minutes.

  • MacBook Pro - apps quitting unexpectedly even after clean install of SL

I did a clean install last night because flash application and associated files kept crashing. Today they seem to be ok. But now I have programs unexpectedly quitting. Just opened After Effects and it quit with a notice about a missing symbol. Maya quit before that as well.
Here is a list from my console:

Then, make a list of those fonts and move them out of the various /Library/Fonts/ folders to a new folder on the Desktop and restart. Now run Font Book. For more on fonts, see Font Management in OS X

  • Mavericks freezing even after clean installation. Help me, please!

    Hi,
I'm having some issues with my Mavericks in my MacBook Pro Late 2011 (below you'll find my system information from EtreCheck).
I've tried update my Mountain Lion to Mavericks (10.9). The installation went well, but after that the OS has freezed several times, mainly when I was using iPhoto and Firefox (or Safari) together. My iPhoto library has more than 200 GB. I needed to forcely restart the machine every time the freezing ocurred. Important: the freezing was not completely; I could do things like show the desktop (I use one hot corner for that), but couldn't open or close programs.
I've got very frustrated and thought about downgrading to ML.
But I tried to do a clean installtation of Mavericks (10.9.1). I did that, but problems continued (different, but continued).
First, I've got a strange message saying that I run out of memory application (same as this one: http://www.michaelkummer.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/2013-10-27-at-2.25-PM-2x .png). This problem didn't happen anymore (maybe because I've deleted all my Internet accounts, as suggested by someone here, because I've received some Keychain's messages asking me to change my passwords).
The freezing problem continues now, but a little differently. Sometimes, when I open my MB Pro display, the screen gets blank and didn't appear nothing in it, and I need to forcely restart it frequently.
Well, that's it. I'm seriously considering to do the downgrade, but decided to try getting help here with you, all the experts and good people.
    Thank you in advance!

have you tried resseting it by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 15 seconds? if that doesn't work try doing a DFU mode(http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034) restore and see if that fixes it.

  • Firefox won't install add-ons even after clean install

Add-on installation fails in one of the following ways:
    1. Unexpected installation error -203, or
    2. The add-on appears in the "Extensions" tab as "Not compatible with Firefox 3.6.3", even though it is.
Sometimes I get the first error, sometimes the second, but all attempts to install add-ons fail with one of them.
I have tried all the troubleshooting advice in the knowledge bases (e.g. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions_-_Firefox#Unexpected_installation_error_-203) but with no success. I even did a clean reinstall of Firefox in a new directory (as described here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox#On_Mac_OS_X) but the problem remains.
    What else can I do?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

I have the same problem : impossible to install or update extensions; either by download (error -228) or by installing a local file (error -203). This is true for all situations : existing or new Firefox profile, different system users, etc.
I searched the kb, asked Google and so, but no solutions worked. The problem happens on all current versions of Firefox : stable, nightly,32 bits and 64 bits.

  • Mac lagging even after clean install of mountain lion

i have mac book pro 13" mid 2102- i7 version. it is lagging while video play back in quick time, audio in itunes, even VLC is lagging sometimes. Need for speed is lagging too. CPU usage is very low like 95% is Idle, 70% RAM is free.  I reinstalled OS(with secure formatting) but problem is still there. what you guys think is causing this, RAM or HDD. i tried repairing disk permissions before clean install but no luck. itunes lags like 2-3 secs which is annoying, quicktime lags for 3-4 secs and instantly plays video very fast for 2-3 secs after that stays normal for a min
MplayerX never lagged while palying but all other itunes, vlc, quick time does.

Post an image of Activity Monitor set to ALL PROCESSES and % CPU to display values from high to low.  Lets see if there is a third party app that is a problem.

  • HP5150 Inkjet: Scanlines even after cleaning

    HI,
My Hp 5150 started having problems with printing.  The print out would have many horizontal lines where there are little to no ink resulting in the inligibility of my print out, which is extremely frustrating.
I have changed to a new HP ink cartiage, done the cleaning and calibration but the same issue persists.  Please let me know what I can do and if anyone has stumble upon the same problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    UPDATE:
After printing 10 pages on photo paper, all with streaks, I shut off printer.  The next day, I tried again, and no streaks.  I am considered looking into an extended warranty for this product.  FYI, to inquire about extended warranty services, you can contact:

  • EMac Crashing Even After Clean Install

I've got an eMac that I bought late 2005. It's been working fine for seven months, but two weeks ago began having random crashes. The crashes seem to occur regardless of which applications are running or in the foreground. TechTool Pro finds no issues; neither does Disk Warrior. Performed OF resets. Tried different mouse and keyboard. Booted from factory disc and ran permissions, all repairs on startup volume. That didn't help. Neither did the Apple Hardware Test that came with the Mac. No errors or problems of any kind were found. Finally, I did a clean install of the OS, sure that would fix whatever was causing this. It did not. A crash occurred while copying some files from a local server. This bit appeared in that login account's console log:
    June 29 08:21:59 copy9 kernel: ** ASIC Hang Log End **
    June 29:08:22:05 copy9 kernel: ATIRadeon::submit_buffer: Overflowed block waiting for FIFO space. Have 5, need 6. RBBM_STATUS 0x8009c100. VAPCNTLSTATUS 0x00000002
Also, FWIW, if I boot from a G4 Apple Diagnostic CD, I get this message: "Invalid memory access at: %SRR0:00000000 %SRR1: 00083030.
Anybody have a clue about this? Do I have a RAM DIMM gone bad (even though test softare finds no problem with memory)? Problem with onboard video? Network? Am I missing something?
    Thanks for any ideas...

Okay, let me clarify. Sorry for not being clearer earlier. My computer had been freezing and crashing and just not working for me for quite some time BEFORE I did the erase and install. That's why I finally did an erase and install as a last resort. The thing is, erasing and installing didn't fix anything. I ran Repair Permissions both before and after resinstalling. I still can't do anything unless I start up in safe mode. I am beginning to wonder if it may be a simple matter of needing more memory? Here is my embarassing computer information:
I have an eMac, PowerPC G4; OS version 10.3.4.
    CPU speed: 1.25 GHz
I assume my RAM is this DDR SDRAM?: 256MB
The only peripherals I have besides the keyboard and mouse are a hpdeskjet 960c printer and an iSight, but I have not had either of those hooked up when I have tried to boot up my computer since doing the erase and install and it is still crashing.
Hopefully this might be helpful in some way. I'm pretty lost here so you may be offering help to a lost cause and I'll just have to give in and take it somewhere, but thanx for taking the time to read my posts and try and point me in the right direction!

  • Mid-2010 27" iMac very slow, even after clean OS install - HELP!

Good afternoon guys, I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice.
I bought my Mid-2010 27" iMac in May-ish 2011. Everything was brilliant, I couldn't believe the ease of use, and especially the start up speed, coming from a world of PCs. My iMac was used almost every day, for web browsing, photo editing, etc.
Maybe about April / May this year it started becoming very slow, slow to boot, slow to respond to mouse clicks, slow to do anything. Since I'd used about 750GB of my HDD (mainly photos), I decided I would archive some and hope that would ease the congestion. As my photos were stored in Aperture, it took about 3 days to export them all to my external HDD, 3 days of the iMac only getting so far, switching itself off, then me finally getting it to come back on (I was getting messages about Kernals, etc. now and again through boot too) - it finally backed up my photos I have from my daughters first year.
Great news, but I still had probably 400GB / 500GB of photos from her second year and any other photos I'd taken. I found the root of my Aperture directory, and managed to pull these images off, so everything is now backed up.
I decided I should try and clean install, and managed to get the HDD to boot and choose the option to re-install from Apple's Servers. All installed OK, and we're good to go! Fired up the iMac, and although it's fractionally quicker to respond, and a lot more stable, it's not quite right. And I've lost all my iLife Apps which originally came with the iMac.
Does this sound like a HDD issue? As I say, it was on quite a lot through the backup procedure, and I had set it (maybe stupidly looking back now) to never sleep, and for the monitor to only switch off after 3 hours. Or does it sound like something more is wrong with it?
I am quite confident of working with PCs, so would manage to replace the HDD I think, looking at some videos, etc. online. I did upgrade the RAM to 16GB, and that was simple enough. My question is, when you replace the HDD, how does it know where to look to the Apple Servers for the clean OS install? Or do I have to do something to let it know where to look first? I have to point out I don't have any Time Machine backup, etc. as the iMac was just not stable enough to get this in place - and up until that point, again probably stupid now looking back, I had never bothered to set up.
Any help / advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. At the moment I have totally fallen out of love with the iMac, for something to cost £1,500+ and only last 3 years, where my last build PC lasted Approx 8 years for half the price, is very disappointing.
    Thanks in advance,
    Col

Just suggesting things right off the bat here-
To me it sounds as though the HDD is failing, if your iMac shipped with a Seagate drive try entering your serial number to see if Apple will replace it:http://www.apple.com/au/support/imac-harddrive/
Or try running Apple Hardware Test a few times back to see if it is a hardware error.
As for the iLife apps they should've come on one of the install discs that shipped with your mac.
If your iMac is ineligible for the program above I would consider replacing it yourself with either an SSD or HDD, as for recognising apples servers for download, you will need the original install discs that came with your computer or if you haven't already it will need a firmware update to enable internet recovery
See here:Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery
    Good Luck!

  • Firefox appears to be hijacked even after clean install.

    Hello,
My sister has this weird problem on her computer and it was involved with Windows and Firefox. When she opens Firefox, her entire computer crashes down, shows a black desktop, and pulls up a BSOD (blue screen of death) the main error was CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION. Error code I believe was 0x0000004. Mysteriously, the minidump of that BSOD disappeared. I wondered that since this problem only happened when I opened firefox, I decided to clean install Firefox. I uninstalled Firefox with removal of personal data and customizations and installed a clean copy from Mozilla.org. Firefox is still unusuable. It doesn't cause the BSOD but it will not allow me to go to ANY URLS (initially, it showed me the "Firefox has been installed page" and another page that said "The address is not valid" any other URLS will not load if I hit enter or hit the go arrow key on the address bar) and the search box has no search engine at all! (icon is a blank file). I've tried reseting the program back to factory defaults. I've scanned for Malware on Malwarebytes Pro, GMER, TDSSKiller, and Hitman Pro. Every other program seems to work fine, at least I hope it does. My last resort is to reset this entire computer.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started.

  • Experiencing complete freezes with my iMac even after clean install

    Hi,
I've got a problem that I thought was something that only Windows was supposed to have and Apple actually used to advertise that Macs didn't have it. Complete freezes of the whole system.
My iMac 21.5" (mid 2011), now with OS X 10.8.2, sometimes and without any apparent reason (There isn't any action on my part that appears to be linked with it) just freezes to the point where I can't even move the Mouse anymore. The keyboard is also unresponsive, and I believe that it can't be an input device error, because anything moving on the screen also freezes (for example MenuMeters).
I'm not confusing this with a kernel panic, because there is no message thereof anywhere (and also, since 10.8, the Mac would restart immediately, which is not the case here).
The only thing I can do in that case is to hold down the power button until the computer turns off.
The problem first appeared already before I installed 10.8, and I also had several kernel panics within a month. Since I couln't find any reason for those either (I checked the error reports, but I couldn't finde anything that appeared in all of them that could link to a common cause), I made a clean install from the recovery partition.
I didn't copy any Libraries, I just backed up the files from my user folder to recover them. Therefore, there shouldn't be anything like old .kext s and such left.
But now, my Mac froze again and I don't know what to do anymore. I did install some new RAM some 2-3 Months ago, but I ran memtest and it all checked out ok so it shouldn't be linked to a Memory problem either...
Since the problem might be very unique here, it might help if anyone knew something to make out the cause of this. Maybe some logging tools or something else to at least find problem, or maybe something to perform a really thorough hardware test.
    Thanks for the help,
    Alex

Put the old RAM back in and test.
