Prob. installing VoiP Headset

Hey guys!
If anyone is around. I'm still have one heck of a time with my headset. I've returned 2 back to the store and I'm on #3 now! LOL
This one is a Logitech High Performance Audio w/usb universal for Macs & Windows. I've set my system preferences for it. And done the same in Skype. However, when I do a test call in Skype, I can't hear my voice, I here the automated voice instead. So according to the test, that means it failed?
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. But I'm just not sure what. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Donna

Hi Donna,
Go here to the Skype support and look at: Accessories on the right side of the page. Make sure the USB Logitech Audio is compatible with their software. The test doesn't necessarily mean it failed, it could be your preferences in Skype might not be set up correctly.
Also, your profile indicates you are running Tiger 10.4. You posted in Leopard 10.5. Which Mac OS X are you running? Maybe you just need to update you profile. Thanks!
Try running Disk Utility and Repair Permissions: Run Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities) and Repair Disk Permissions BEFORE and AFTER every software update or install. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot. That will help keep your Macs happy!
Run Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities) and Repair Disk Permissions BEFORE and AFTER every software update. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot. That will help keep your Macs happy!
One more thing... in Skype: With Skype open, from the Menu Bar, click Skype/Preferences/Audio and make sure you have this set up properly.

  • Can I install VOIP or 3rd party softwares in Nok...

I am usnig Voip softwares like Action Voip in Nokia E63.  I like to buy Nokia C3 because it  is very friendly for Social Network and messaging. But I worry about using Voip software and other 3rd party program installation because C3 doesn't have a file manager. Is it support usage of Voip software? How can I install  VOIP or 3rd party softwares  in Nokia C3. Please help me.

To get VoIP on S40, you need to have compatible phone that has built in SIP VoIP support, http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/VoIP_support_in_Nokia_devices#Support_in_Series_40_devices
There does not exists any VoIP Java apps for S40 with which you could get FREE calls.

  • VoIP Headset problems

I have a Motorola H700 that pairs with my computer but will not work with any application (iTunes, Skyype, Vonage softphone).
There are many threads on updating Bluetooth Firmware. But I am not trying to update a plug in USB device. My computer has a built-in Bluetooth module and I am currently running software version 1.7.3f4.
Do I still need to update firmware? I have downloaded v1.2 but cannot get it to update (i get the "no blutooth module installed" message after I click on UPDATE).
Any luck with Motorola headphones and VoIP with a Bluetooth capable Mac? I had a H500 that worked fine with the same computer but sound was poor and I exchanged for the H700. It doesn;t make any sense to me why one headphone will work but another will not.

Using a headset needs several steps even needed if you have the latest computer or Mac OS X release. Please make sure to follow them in order.
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
    Install it
Remove as much USB devices from your computer as possible
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long and disconnects your Bluetooth mouse).
Start the Apple Bluetooth Assistant and select Headset. Do not use anything else!
Make your headset Bluetooth visible. Look up the manual of your headset how to do that.
Now select the headset in System Preferences > Sound.
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the already installed updater yourself (do not ask me why). Step 4 fails if you do not have an internal Apple Bluetooth module and your Bluetooth USB adapter is not supported by Apple. In this case, you have to go for a D-Link DBT-120 USB adapter.

  • Using my Plantronics 340 Bluetooth headset as a pc VOIP headset.

I am trying to use my plantronics bluetooth headset with my computer, as a microphone/earphone combination, with the popular gaming VOIP software Teamspeak.
I have a notebook from an other manufacture running XP SP3. My Bluetooth stack is a Toshiba one. I reinstalled the Toshiba drivers/software because it was still using the generic Microsoft ones before, but I can't seem to get it to detect the headset.
What am I doing wrong? Please let me know if you require any more information about my hardware/software configuration in order to answer my query. The system is able to detect bluetooth enabled mobile phones, just not this headset seemingly.

Right click on the Bluetooth systray icon click on New Connection -> Select "Custom Mode" -> ...
Now you should be able to select the headset profile.
By the way if the software can control the headset then use the VoIP option. If you would like to control you headset with button clicks and so on then do not enable the VoIP option during the setup.

  • Bluetooth VoIP Headset for MacBook?

Has anyone come across a Bluetooth headset that works well—that is, sounds tolerable—with a MacBook for VoIP communications?
My Plantronics Voyager 510 is close to worthless.

Today I bought a Plantronics Voyager PLT 510 and tried it with the Mac Pro and Macbook Pro 17". It worked fine with both. The QuickPair feature worked also: It took much less time to pair as in my previous Anycom headset.
I also finally managed to connect Anycom HS-790 that I wrote about yesterday. I removed all bluetooth devices that were registered in my computer. In my Macbook Pro it was a wireless Mighty Mouse and my Mac Pro it was a PDA. My Anycom HS-790 is two years old and I used it with the Macbook Pro and 10.4. before. Now it seems to work also with Leopard: The sound output is OK, but this device has a rather poor input quality. This is the reason why I baught a Plantronics.

  • Voip Headset Recommendations Please

OK, It only took me buying two headsets to figure out why the line in connection is not a mic connection.
So I'm on the hunt for the best USB or Bluetooth headsets my fellow Mac users would recommend.
I would be using it for Skype calls.
    Thanks for your (input)
    Best,
    Treeman

I would recommend one from Plantronics. The headphones have a great frequency response and the mics are low noise.
I picked a set of over-the-ear USB ones on Buy.com for under $30.00 shipped.

I did a pkginfo -il on all the packages in the

Solaris 8 was no problem. I cehcked (like you did) that I had indeed all the packages installed.
I was however in the lucky situation that I could just disable SNMP as it was not doing anything useful...
I think if you look in the patch that you could perhaps just replace the files manually and then restart the service. (I guess it's a good idea to try on only one host first;)
    Good luck,

  • Prob. installing Power Manager T61

    Hi,
when i try to install the Power Manager on a T61 i get the errror message "Error occured while copying files" during setup. Try different installations without success. Any idea?
    thanks
    Kai

I would suggest going to http://www.lenovo.com/de/de/index.html and navigate to the Downloads und Treiber page, letting the page detect your system. Once you are on the correct page for your machine, download System Update. Install System Update and then let it manage the installation of the drivers you need.
If you already have tried to install Power Manager and have a non-functioning installation, un-install it first. You are correct about the interoperability and sequence of installing certain modules. The System Update does a good job of sorting that out. Good luck!

I have a triple booting machine with Windows7, Arch, and ArchBang.  Windows 7's system partition is where I have the bootloader installed.  I recently installed Archbang and now my other Arch is not showing up in grub.  I tried updating the grub menu by running os-prober, installing grub to the boot partition and doing a grub-mkconfig but it will not find the other Arch on the other partition.  I'm thinking maybe this is a naming issues since they have the same grub entry name?  I don't know.  Any thoughts?
