Prob. with Absolute/Relative Positioning of Layers

I used the List-u-Like generator to create a menu (
http://www.listulike.com/generator/)
for this page that I created in Dreamweaver:
http://hdumc.org/
and my menu is acting wacky in Firefox. Everything looks fine
in IE though. I've been trying to read through the Help on
positioning, but it gets so confusing. Can anyone help me out on
what I'm doing wrong?

Have you checked out the SMART CSS extension available on
Adobe's web
site? It may help.

  • Spry Menu Bar killed by absolute/relative positioning

I have a Spry Menu Bar that works beautifully on most pages
of my site, but it does not function at all – not even the
    top-level links – on
    this
page where I have used relative and absolute positioning of
other objects to create CSS image rollovers.
If I comment out the link to the CSS file, the menu bar works
normally. Also, if I comment out any of the positioning rules in
the CSS file, the menu bar functions as usual – but I want my
    image rollovers.
I have tried giving the other elements a lower z-index, and a
higher z-index, but this did not help. Any ideas?

  • [Dreamweaver CS4] Absolute & Relative Position - Referenzpunkt und Probleme WebSite

    Hallo Community!

You know, Vererbung von Eigenschaften, IDs, Klassen und so was...

  • Prob with absolute time

    Hii everyone....
I have some questions to ask to u guys...firstly, I'm using serial comm to interface data into labview...There is no prob for configuration...but I have 2 mistakes here.1stly, refer to my table.PNG...I build the table using build table express...so..I enabled the date time. When I run the prog...the date/time didn't fuction anymore...It seems like its stuck with the first read...so...i have tried to open the front panel of the build table express to modify n try to put time stamp..but I think that there is no need to replace it because it had Gate waveform time array.vi already...I tried the other basic simulation to confirm it...but the date from table will run also after I start to run the other prog.
And the other mistake about write to measurement file..the situation was same as above that I tried to show the elapsed time or fractional seconds in the text file at the left side...but it did not happened.that means the fractional seconds always shown as 0.0000 till the target time...
And my last question it...How can I put a gauge and link with the waveform?because here I can't link this gauge icon with the waveform...and lastly,How could I change universal time format of x-axis from the waveform to current time...thank u very much...

oh...i'm sorry dennis..i almost forget these thing. Here, I attached my vi n PNG file. Actually I put the gauges 4 my data from my waveform.I think it can be linked with signal without any prob. So, I didn't know that this function just a scalar input. So refer to my table2 PNG. the date / time did not run properly n stuck with the first time/date data...thank u very much

  • Problems with relative positioning divs

    Hi all,
I'm still new to this css layouts thing, but am stumped by this problem. I have numerous parent divs with multiple child divs within them on my page design, and for some reason these child divs are not taking up the correct spacing that I enter in the CSS. They are all relative positioned, mostly using floats and clears (and I don't think I've missed any of those). Help! Hoping that it's something simple I've missed.
To pinpoint one example of this recurring problem, the #sidenav_one div will float: left with a spacing of top 8px and left 8px, but then #sidenav_two refuses to float: left, clear: both with a spacing of top 8px (I've had to put in 16px to actually get 8px, in both Firefox, Safari and Opera). (relevant parts of code highlighted).
I am happy to change how I've structured the page, if people think there is a better or cleaner way to do it. Thanks in advance.

This is much simpler than you would think. You're making it hard work for yourself because you believe css is much more comlex than it really is or need be.
You rarely need to use relative positioning at all. You are using too many <divs> and redundant css attributes to reach your goals.
Think of the web as a simple structure of boxes and ino those boxes you place html tags or 'when' needed other <divs> ('when' is the choice word here. In time you will know when and when not to)
Copy the css and page code below and paste into a new Dreamweaver document. See how much leaner and cleaner the css and html code is.

  • Issue with images and AP div layers

Im a bit of a noobie. but i have a problem with this website
im working on. I have a table with an image in it serving as a
background for some text i wish to put into it. I use an AP Div
layer to put in the text on top of the image. Of course when i open
the page in a full window, it displays properly, but when resizing
the window, the text shifts as a cause of the div layer not
moving... Is there a way to fix this or another way to do this
    properly?
    thanks in advance.

This is a problem with absolute positioned tags it's a CSS
    thing not a Dreamweaver problem.
You should be staying from layers and using hand CSS with
divs ID and class. Check out the adobe site for tutorials on using
Dreamweaver with CSS. You should find these in the designer
section. They are quite good and they'll give you what you're
    looking for
Also a good book on this is CSS the Missing Manaul it really
explains what's happening and going on here

  • Do I understand AP Divs & relative positioning?

    Hello.
So to cut a long story short....
I am newbie & plunged into creating my first website using all AP elements, only to find out that this is not a good way because of the nature of the AP's.
After much help from this forum (PZ in particular) I decided to do my research a little bit more.
I still have to create another website that I guess should really be built in flash (as suggested by someone). But as I dont know Flash this is not an option. (please see attached design concept).
The only elements I really need at this point would be for the "get a quote" & "about", "contact" bubbles to have rollover states that change colour when the mouse goes over them.
I have been trying to find the best way of doing this without AP elements.
    1) Create a Div container with the main image for the background, then insert a table and try to insert the rollover images that way. But after research, I am finding that I should be steering away from tables and moving towards CSS. Which then led me to Idea no 2.
    2) Create a Div container with the main image for the background, then insert Div's and adjust the margins (relative positioning?) to move to the Divs in correct places I need the rollovers. But again I read that this method should only be done for tweaking a web page and not  structuring a webpage as may cause problems.
    3) Create a Div container with the main image for the background, then insert Div's in a grid like system (see attached image of my guides where I would place Div's), But this seems a over complicated way to do it and you end up with divs that have no use & lots of unwanted code.
OR am I right in thinking this works?
    4) Apply a relative positioned Div, set background image, then place AP div's inside RP Div that I would use for my rollovers? If I did this would this then avoid the problem of the AP divs moving in different browsers?
Or have I got this all completely wrong and have to go back to the drawing board again?
Your thoughts would be appreciated :-)
    Many thanks in advance
    Louisa

Build your HTML content logically from top of page to bottom of page.  Use default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all) for the majority of your page layout.
Use AP Divs only when absolutely necessary because doing so removes them from normal content flow.
To control APDivs in relation to other content on the page, you many need to wrap them inside a relatively positioned container.
Example of APDivs inside a Relatively positioned container:
    http://alt-web.com/DEMOS/CSS-Disjointed-Menu-Rollover.shtml
As far as your design concept goes, you could do this a number of ways.  With CSS sprites or an Image Map, for example.

  • Relative Positioning of Slices

Why doesn't FW allow you to export your slices using relative
positioning!? I might as well ignore the export css feature all
    together.
I need to insert FW html into an already existing html
document, but the absolute positing of the elements is causing me
to have to hand code every individual slice. A major hassle.
Is there something I'm missing? Does anyone have a quick way
of modifying FW css to relative positioning?

Have you checked out the SMART CSS extension available on

  • Is it normal to use over 9,000,000k of memory (Private Working Set) when working on 3-4 photos with approx. 10-12 layers each while running CC??

I started using CC in December with absolutely no issues. In April, CC suddenly started crashing on me when I would run certain actions that I have used for years. My first thought was that my computer was going bad. This began a two month process of eliminating any potential computer problems. Fixes were as follows:
    Installed new SSD.
    Installed new 2T storage drive.
Installed new video card and power source to run new video card.
I am operating Windows 7 with 16G of RAM on a quad core, which should be more than sufficient to handle the demands of CC. It worked fine for four months, so obviously it is capable of doing the job.
$400 later, CC still crashed while using certain actions.
As a test, I tried running the same files with the same actions on my husband's computer, which is a year newer. CC crashed on his as well when the actions were ran. After much head banging, tears, and communication with Adobe, it was determined that it's not uncommon for older actions to not be compatible with newer versions of photoshop. As a result, I spent weeks reworking my entire workflow to redo/remove the actions I had come to rely on.
Fast forward to today. I have fixed everything I possibly know how to fix, yet I still have to be VERY careful not to push CC too hard. I used to be able to work on 6 photos at a time, with 10-15 layers on each photo. CC NEVER crashed on me. Now, I can barely work on 2 or 3 photos and it will crash if I'm not careful about running one action at a time (instead of batching) and I have to keep my layers to a minimum. During the time I was trying to figure out my computer problems, I started paying more attention to my memory usage while CC was opened. Before all the changes, I would use 5-6,000,000k of memory with only 2 or 3 photos opened. AFTER all the fixes, I still continue to use an insane amount of memory.
Things to consider before offering any suggestions:
*Yes, I have re-installed CC about 5 times after my computer upgrades, mainly because I could not get my actions to populate. So I don't think a re-install will help.
*I tried removing most of my actions from CC, and it made no difference in memory usage. Besides, when I did the test on my husband's computer, the only actions installed were the few I was trying to test.
*I disabled auto-save and the recovery feature. Still no difference.
So, bottom line, my question is if it is normal to use so much memory when doing such simple tasks?? Most of my layers are levels, curves, fill, and a sharpening layer and noise filter. It doesn't seem those would be considered task intensive. Not only that, but also when I did the test on my husband's computer, I checked his memory usage and he didn't even break 2,000,000k at the same time I was using 5-6,000,000k for the same task. And he only has 12G of RAM. So SOMETHING is not right! Is there a setting I need to change so that CC is not so memory intensive?? I could see if I were doing 3D graphics of something, but these are simple photo edits that I have done for years without any problems.
Sincerely hope that somebody has some/any suggestions on how I can get the memory usage down so I can run CC as it's meant to be - fast and efficient!
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Thanks again for your suggestions Noel! I do hope that resetting my preferences will be a last resort. After my re-install it took me a week or two to get everything back to where I wanted it! For some reason, the way the computer techs set up my new drives, CC did not populate any of my actions/preferences/etc. I figured a round about way to get my actions to load, but it was a real pain in the butt!! I certainly hope I don't have to do that all over again. Although I will say that even before I got everything reset in photoshop, I was still having problems. The only thing I pulled into a fresh install of CC were the few actions that were giving me problems ( I worked with the defaults until I could figure out how to reconfigure everything). Before and after my changes, CC was still crashing on me and using tons of memory. Just something to keep in mind regarding my preferences being an issue.
Here is the information you requested. Hopefully the answer lies within! I have been in tears many times since April trying to get my CC/computer back to running the way it used to. This has put me SO far behind on editing I've even had to stop taking sessions for now. So I am VERY appreciative of any and all suggestions you can offer!

  • Font Smoothing + Relative Positioning = Problem

    Hello,
I ran across a strange inconsistency while designing a relative position based layout.
My page has two divs, both relative positioned for height. They do not overlap. The page renders excellent in Firefox 3.5, and not bad in Chrome (though a little different from FF). Safari however pushes my second div down too far.
I found that by disabling font smoothing (or rather switching it to anything besides "windows standard") fixes this issue. However there isn't even any actual text on the site, at all. There's 4 images, a couple input fields and a submit button.
I can post some of the code, or example screenshots of what's happening. I've tried a couple css hacks to target safari (without targeting chrome) with no success. Anybody have any advice?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Please disreard...
I got it figured out. I just moved the paragraph tag outside
    of the table
and changed the position from bottom:50% to top:50%
once the <p> was moved out of the table, it's normal
    position would be at
the very top. So, I moved it 50% down from the top using
    relative
positioning. Being inside the table caused it to not work in
    Gecko? I
    wonder why?

  • Airport connection probs with Mac Pro and 10.4.8  too.

This prob is not just related to iMacs or MacBooks as published in the knowledge base doc. I have exactly the same prob with my 2.66 GHz Mac Pro. I have to reconnect this beast to my wlan router manually every time.
    PLZ Apple fix this asap!

I had a similar problem which I've fixed!
I have four machines here which can connect to my Netgear DG834N via Aiport. (I say can because they normally connect via ethernet.) My MacBook Pro always used to be fine when connected wirelessly but recently, not aware of any changes I've made, it connects for about 10 seconds then disconnects. All other machines are fine and hold the connection.
This is what I tried before finding my solution:
    1) Deleted all references to the network in the keychain and remade them.
    2) Created another user to try
    3) Changed channels on the router even though I can't see any neighbour's networks.
    4) Made sure computer and router were up to date with firmware/software.
I'm assuming that it has to be a computer problem as the PowerMac, iMac and iPod Touch have no issues at all. However, the cure was in the router.
I run with SSID broadcast turned off, WPA2 encryption and MAC address filtering. Allowing broadcast of the SSID cures my problem. Turn it off and the computer connects then drops it ten seconds later. Turn broadcast on and it maintains the connection. I've tried it all afternoon, leaving it connected for about 30 minutes at a time before turning SSID broadcast off again. Works every time! Broadcast SSID - fine, no broadcast - drops after ten seconds.
Now, if only I knew why! And why only the laptop?

  • Getting the absolute text position from a DOM tree

Does anybody knows how to get the absolute text position of a node inside the DOM tree? Is there any DOM implementation that keep track of the absolute text position of each Node element or I need to overload somo methods by hand?
    Regards,
    Daniel Oliveira

The position() function in XSLT returns the order of the element.
For an xml document with elements:
    <a>
    <b></b>
    <b></b>
    </a>
    <xsl:apply-templates select="b"/>
    <xsl:template match="b">
    Element b:
    <xsl:value-of select="position()"/>
    </xsl:template>

  • Queries not working with multiple bind position variables?

still need help here - can anyone provide any direction?
(note: this is a follow-up from prior topic, " How to use JDBC Positional Binding Style & ExecuteWithParams?")
I created two simple view objects off of the same entity
    object to perform this test:
#1 - ViewObject with one bind position variable - where clause: where id > ?
#2 - ViewObject with two bind position variables - where clause: where id > ? and id < ?
I created two separate .jspx pages, view1.jspx (one input field) and view2.jspx (two input fields), for each view object by dragging ExecuteWithParams operation onto the JSF page.
The .jspx page with one input field works (returns result sets.) The view2.jspx page with two input fields does not work - the query does not return any result sets (no errors produced, it just does not return any rows) - I've tested my query outside of jdeveloper and it works fine. I also tried switching my inputs to make sure I did not have an illogical query (i.e., id >100 and id< 1).
Is there anything different / extra I need to do to use two bind position variables?
Everything in this simple test was identical except for using 2 input variables versus 1.
Technology stack is: jdeveloper 10.1.3, jsf/ADF BC, mySQL 5.01

Using the where clause: "where id > ? and id < ?” for the 2 input variables, I get the same result - no row results returned (though query works outside the browser.)
Interestingly, I modified the where clause to “where between ? and ?”, and then used values of ‘1’ and ‘100’ to test. Using the BC4J tester, the query gave back a single row with id = 100 (should have brought back 100 rows because there are 100 records with id’s 1-100.) So I got it to return something, but not the right results. This makes me believe that a different query is being sent to MySQL other than what I'm expecting from what is shown in the SQL Statement of the View Object..
Is there anyway to view what SQL statement is actually being sent to the database using the BC4J tester? Also, could this be an issue related to the mySQL connector drivers and JDeveloper? I’m using mysql-connector-java=3.1.11-bin.jar (10/10/2005)? First though, if I could see what query is actually being sent, this may help me to debug and figure out the problem.

  • Relative position of dock icons cannot be changed by dragging.

I have just moved from Tiger to Leopard and am trying to reorganize the dock I inherited from the older OS. In particular, I wish to change the relative positions of the icons. The old (Tiger) method of drag and drop didn't work ... any icon I try to move always snaps back into its former position when I release it. This happens in both the applications and folder categories on the dock.
I consulted the documentation for Leopard and it describes the same old way of moving icons as with Tiger. Clearly this simply does not work. I searched this forum with "dock icon" and didn't find any discussion of this phenomenon.
It looks like a bug. Has anyone else encountered this?

    Hi Norman,
Try moving your mouse down when you're shifting icons. I find that if you keep your cursor at the level of the other icons (as opposed to below them), the icons won't shift aside. You could also try pulling the Dock icon you're trying to move out of the Dock region and putting it back in at the new place. It's not the most intuitive of behavior, I know.
    Hope that helps!
