Probably nothing, but: how much (external) pressure can MBP take?

I'm visiting my grandparents, and had my MBP closed on a firm leather sofa (atop a binder I was using as a flat surface). I was off the couch, so my grandpa decides to sit where I was sitting. He lowers himself into the seat with one hand on the armrest, and +one atop my MBP+! I don't think he even saw or noticed!
Now, I'm obviously using it now, but I was just wondering: how much pressure can the case take? My grandfather's almost 90, so he's most likely not that heavy; he certainly doesn't look it. Anything I should watch out for as far as possible signs of trouble? The MBP's probably fine, isn't it?
This concern will most likely come to nothing, but it seemed like a worthwhile question regardless, so I decided to ask. Thanks in advance!

Come to think of it, does the TSA let laptops go through the machines without taking it out?  I thought they only allowed that for the soft cloth sleeves.
I have yet had a TSA agent ask me to remove my computer from my notebook carrying bag.  I just put the whole bag right onto the bin.
Never had a TSA agent put another bin on top of mine either.  If this ever happened, I would have filed a complaint or asked to speak with a TSA supervisor.

The language, compiler, or JVM specs will probably say.
However, if you need to ask this question, then your classes are far too big.

How much the upgrade process depends of database size, in this case?
    I have fast boxes  IBM AIX 5.3 , 64 b.

    Appreciate your comments ...
Yes, sound stupid, regarding test environment, but in reality, is not that much:
-I do have "preprod" environment, (2 instances RAC) same releases of OS, OCW,RAC ... but DB size is 40 GB!!!  It has all the objects as production, but (again but) it does not have physical standby, as production has. This is not that unusual, knowing that production DB grows very fast, and very large, and business do not want to keep preprod, dev, test databases same HUGE size as production is. Savings ...
-My DB upgrade depends if application  running on top of it is certified for higher RDBMS release ... looks like they have some problems.
-Very encouraging sounds comment that DB upgrade does not depend that much of the DB size ...
    - i do not recall from where this info came, but I have heard that R 11.* treats PDF files in different way that R10 did it ... and because of that, process of upgrading big databases which have many items of that type (pdf) can take very long. Any idea about this?
-Brian, thx ... I'm trying hard to provide DB simmilar size in UPG environment and face all possible pitfalls before I go in production...thx for youe advice. I'm relly interested in how upgrade to 11.* from 10.* traets my pdf-s ... All my TBs comming from pdfs. Everi advice will be wellcome ...

  • Every tune in my library is marked with an explanation mark and produces a report " The song ..... could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  Probably yes - but how ?

Every song in my library, both purchased or downloaded from a CD, is marked with an exclamation mark and produces a report " The song ......... could not be used because the original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it ?"     Well, probably yes - but how ? and why necessary ?  HELP !

It would help to have more background about your iTunes collection such as if you keep it on an external drive, or if you have moved or renamed anything recently.  iTunes is very sensitive to you renaming or moving files or folders involved with your media.  iTunes only keeps a reference to where a media file is located  and then goes to look for it when you try to play it. If you have changed things since it was added to itunes then it's like me sending you to look for a friend in my addressbook but that friend has moved.
The other possibility is your computer is starting to lose files.  Again, the computer uses a reference database to tell it where on the drive to look for a file. If that database gets corrupt then it starts losing files.  Use Dsk Utility's first aid to verify your hard drive.

  • How much external disk space is needed for editing HD video?

    If I'm using FCE:
    1) How much external disk space is needed for editing HD video:
if I downloaded 150mins of HD video? and
do editing with it which will have an output of 120mins.
Now PC, going to a MAC user soon   Windows XP

    Hi(bonjour)!
As a rule of thumb for HDV editing, use those numbers:
    12 to 15 meg/second for capturing ( your project is 150 minutes long, so 780 meg/minute, or 117 to 125 Gig).
If you do any editing, add transition, video effect, add 12 to 15 meg /second to the total.
As your project will have to be rendered for the print to tape operation, calculate 12 to 15 meg/second for all the length of your final movie. Add this amount to the total. (example: a 60 minutes movie : 49 Gig).
If you want to burn a DVD on your Mac, calculate 3 to 4 meg/second for downconversion to DV material if you check "self-contained" in quicktime export dialog. (example: your finished project is 60 minutes long : 10.8 Gig)
iDVD itself needs 3 to 4 times this amount if you want flawless operation.
Finally, if you use your internal hard disk for all this storage (it's not a good idea to capture on the same drive where Mac OS X belongs), your Mac OS needs some spare room to breath (doing caching, etc), and your hard drive must have a least 25% of free space to avoid file's fragmentation.
As hard drive's price drop, get the maximum size you can afford. 250 Gig is a good choice if you want to do just one project of 90 to 150 minutes at the time.

  • Do you know how much a partner can make referring a Cloud Service deal to Oracle?

As an OPN member, how much a partner can get paid for doing Oracle Cloud Services referrals?

For our SaaS products the referral fee is 10% of the total contract value up to $50K (to the partner). It is a great way to start in the cloud as you only need to be a member in good standing at any level to refer. Normal OMM (Open Market Model) rules apply, but consider it as a very low barrier to entry option.

  • How much Image Data can the Scenegraph hold?  handling big pictures?

I have some jpg pictures that are taken with a standard compact camera.
Pictures are around 2MB in size. I would like to load them full size so I can Zoom into them later.
I can load about 4 of this pictures (total 8MB data), but not 5 of them.
    Where is the limitation?
How much Image Data can the Scenegraph hold?
any tweeks or workaround for big pictures?

    You mean this:
The default maximum heap size is half of the physical memory up to a physical memory size of 192 megabytes and otherwise one fourth of the physical memory up to a physical memory size of 1 gigabyte.
For example, if your machine has 128 megabytes of physical memory, then the maximum heap size is 64 megabytes, and greater than or equal to 1 gigabyte of physical memory results in a maximum heap size of 256 megabytes. So Java doesn't want to use a lot of ram by default. My 3 Year PC has allready 4 GB Ram. But well there are laptops with 1 or 2 gb RAM. Even my 5 year old video-pc, only there to watch some movies, has 1.2GB RAM. So Whatever, maybe Oracle will change this in Java7 or 8. As well also Anyway, i can do make the a little bit more effiecient, but if someone want to load a jpg captuared with a 12MegaPixel Camera, you just need some Ram.

  • How much storage units can be added in the single bin.

    Hi all,
Can anybody tell me how much storage units can be added in the single bin.
    Dev

    Hi Dev,
AS Prashant & Abhijit mentioned above the maximum storage units in a single bin is based on various factors such the putaway strategy & capacity check you have set for your storage type as well as palletization data.
Now in case of Bulk Storage which you have mentioned above, please go through the below F1 help for the block structure.
In bulk storage, you need to define for each block (or row) how many
storage units fit into the block.  For this purpose, you must define
both the number of columns as well as the maximum stack height.  *The*
product of these factors usually gives the maximum number of storage
+units and is determined automatically by the system.  However, it is+
possible to change the maximum number of storage units to a lower number
if the storage bin or the material features require this.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How much HD's can I use for my Xserve G5 RackMac3,1

How much HD's can I use for my Xserve G5 RackMac3,1 and with ??? TB?
    Thanks

    Hi
Not quite sure what you mean by "how much?" If you really mean 'how large' then Apple's Support Article might help?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1219
Failing that and if you browse this Forum, you'll find some people have had some success with 3rd-Party 1TB (and perhaps larger) SATA drives:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2702491?tstart=120
XServe G5 takes up to a maximum of 3 drives. You must use Apple's own Drive Modules. If you want to configure the internal drives as a RAID 5 (minimum of 3 drives required) you will need a compatible RAID Card installed.
Your mileage as ever will vary.

  • How much cold temperature can an iphone 5 endure?

I am just curious how much cold temperature can an iphone 5 endure? here in my town, 4'c is normal in daytime and 0'c at night and dampness present in my room all the time which cause my cell phone display black and unresponsive.

Cold will make a lithium ion battery drain more quickly than normal and can cause the phone to shut down. However, I doubt it's zero degrees in your room at night. If it is, you have bigger issues to worry about than your phone. Unless your phone is a tropical rainforest or has a constantly running hot shower or is a sauna, it seems unlikely that it could be damp enough to cause an issue. You may have a larger hardware issue. Consider getting the phone checked out by Apple.
I'm not sure I'd want to live in a town that only got 4 degrees warmer in the day than at night in the winter. Brrrrr.......
