Probe-scsi-all failed

hi all :
I have 2 v440 (solaris 9) and 2 Sun StorEdge 3320 and I can see the disks from format command but not from probe-scsi-all.
When running probe-scsi-all , it keep giving the following message ::
Error : LSI 1030 : timeout waiting for interrupts status
Could not set initiator ID
MPT firmware, FaultCode : 8112
Thanks for any reply !

I have the same errors.
I created a mirrored root drive on my v440 and I do not believe it is working. The Sun manual said I could boot off the mirrored drive, but that failed.
boot disk2
disk2 /pci@1f,700000/scsi@2/disk@2,0
Any suggestions?
Thanks

  • Probe-scsi-all sees something, but OS does not

How about a more specific question this time?
I'm seeing something that may be relevant in probe-scsi-all:

...but if I run format, I don't see any 3511-related devices, even if I:
    /usr/sbin/drvconfig
    /usr/sbin/devlinks
    /usr/sbin/disks # or /usr/sbin/tapes for tapes
    /usr/sbin/tapes

What do I need to do to make some devices visible on a V440 from a series of 4 3511's?
See also the post I'm about to see about serial communications though.

Any further suggestions? Thanks much for taking an interest in this.

  • Format cannot see disks but probe-scsi-all can

    Hi Folks,
I have attached a Storedge with five disks to an external SCSI card and can see all the disks via the probe-scsi-all command at the OBP. However when I do a boot -r I would expect to see all the disks with the format utility but I only see the internal disks.
Has anyone had this problem? If so am I missing something obvious?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
check the scsi-initiator-id in printenv on OK prompt .If it is 7 change to 6 and check whether u can see the hard disks through format command. and also u can run these three commands on root prompt to detect the hard disks
    1) # drvconfig
    2)# disks
    3)# devlinks
    Best Luck
    Regards

  • Probe-scsi-all not showing storedge

    Need help on storedge 3310......
As I discussed an issue on 3310 .......
I tried probe-scsi-all to check the storage device........but its not showing it.............
    any idea??

    hi, guys:
about your question, at first , we need to ensure your 3310 configure .
    1. do you map lun on 3310 with sccli ?
    2. is the SCSI HBA adapter sun brand ?
if you sure it is mapped.the scsi adpate is sun , maybye the line or scsi apapter is defect. you need to replace it.
because of i have ever an question that similar with you . the OS can display disk, but the probe-scsi-all cannt display it .
for a long time , i investigation it , i have found out the cause, the HBA adpater isnt sun brand.
hopful it can help you !
    best regards

  • Install from SCSI CD fails: ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30

I have a x86 based server w/SCSI HD and DVD drive.
    Install fails with following.
Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201108
ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30 seconds
       Falling back to interactive prompt
You can try to fix the problem manually, logout when you are finished
sh: can't access tty; job contro turned off
    [ramfs /]#
I hooked up a IDE DVD drive and using same CD installs OK.  Then, once installed, I switch my DVD back to SCSI that failed the install, and guess what?  Arch booted from my HD now recognizes the SCSI DVD drive, I can mount it and so on.  Looks to me like the install kernel doesn't support my SCSI DVD drive but the installed kernel does.
I need the Arch install to work from the SCSI DVD drive on my system.  I'm trying to develop an Arch distro for my particular system, which there are about a dozen of in the field, they all have SCSI DVD and no IDE drives.  Will I have to add a SCSI driver to the boot kernel?  Or is my problem something else?
    I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (ther is a /dev/disk/by-id  by-label  and by-uuid).
    I do a:
    "[ramfs /]# lsmod | grep sr_mod"
    sr_mod        14951   0
    cdrom        36329   1   sr_mod
    scsi_mod    131482   7  sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata,mptspi,mptscsih,scsi_transport_spi
[ramfs /]# lsmod | grep scsi
    mptscsih        20040   1   mptspi
    mptbase            63459    2   mptspi,pmtscsih
    scsi_transport_spi    20059   1   mptspi
    scsi_mod        131482  7   sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata,mptspi,mptscsih,scsi_stransport_spi

    scrath "I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (ther is a /dev/disk/by-id  by-label  and by-uuid)."
Should be: I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (there is a /dev/disk/by-id  by-path  and by-uuid).

  • SCSI Transport Failed

Hello Guys, I'm trying to figure out if my harddrive is going bad in my system. I'm seeing a lot of SCSI transport error messages in the /var/adm/messages file. This only happens when our backups are running at night. We back up all our servers through the firewall using veritas's netbackup. Can someone help me sift thought this information in the messages file and let me know what all this means. Thanks

Hello, data is not being backed up locally. This server is our firewall. We have multiple dmz zones on our firewall. One of our dmz's host's the veritas master server which backs up other web servers in other dmz zones. When the backups kick off at night, these messages appear in the /var/adm/messages file. Does this mean the firewall cannot handle the load of traffic??

  • Report to show all failed login attempts in B1 system

    Hi,
Please advise is there anyway to view all failed login attempts in B1 system.
    Regards,
    Priscilla

    Hi Priscilla,
Unfortunately, all failed login attempts are stored on each clients' local drive. There is no table to hold them.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Despite my best efforts, I am unable to remove iTunes 11.1.4 from my PC, this being made necessary because the original installation had a flaw and did not load properly. Effor to use the control panel, deleting dll. files, etc. all failed. iTune out??

Despite my best efforts, I am unable to remove iTunes 11.1.4 from my PC, this being made necessary because the original installation had a flaw and did not load properly. Effor to use the control panel, deleting dll. files, etc. all failed. And, of course, on startup, a window opens with the error and tells me find QTMovie.dll and delete it because this may be the source of the hangup. Also, in trying to delete iTunes, I get the additional message that I must get approval from the System Administrator to take this action. I am the System Administrator.
    Any ideas would be welcomed.
    Thank you.

  • SCSI transport failed error

    Hi,
I am getting SCSI transport failed error on my Solaris 10 servers. iostat is reporting Hard & Transport errors.
I am able to access to lun and able to write data to it without any problem.
    Questions:
    1. what does this error mean?
    2. could this impact the performance?
    3. possible fix?

    Help appreciated.
    Thanks.

it means that when the sun tried to send or recive data to the drive it could not. this could be cable or scsi controler. but the most likely proublem is your drive. i would get the data off and try a new drive be fore it fails.

  • Sun v240 dvd not showing in probe-scsi

    hi
    error message is
    cannt open boot device
    when i write boot cdrom

The optical drives in V210/V240 systems are IDE drives.
You won't see them via probe-scsi.
You will need to do a probe-ide to see them.
As for your boot error, try replacing the media with known bootable commercially created disks.
If that doesn't work, then replace the optical drive.

Some 3rd party security software causes this, ie;Norton, check the settings to be sure it is not blocking HPSA from connecting to the internet.
Download and Install the latest version of HPSA from this webpage and try it again

  • FTP 553 upload FAILED in LION ( cuteftp, transmit, coda, cyberduck all fail) , But works in Windows 7.

    Hi folks,
I hv a big trouble in FTP upload.
I own a VPS server, and now is rush time I need to upload some file.
Now, I use CUTEFTP, TRANSMIT, CODA, CYBERDUCK in my updated LION, ALL FAILED.
and also, I can not use those client to creat a new file, and not allow to do anything.
maybe you will say, " check your VPS setting ".
    the points are:
    1. I can use those client in sometimes, and error in sometimes.
    2. I can do anything, including upload, download, editing, creating file in my other WINDOWS 7.
Okay, Anyone know the solution? Please help me.. thank you so much.
p.s, ftp is easy job. I dont why APPLE **** this up like always.

    Problem solved!
I found out how to get FTP to work on my Macs. It was just a hunch, but I tried it and BANGERS ON! (FYI: Bangers is an English slang term for sausages, the kind that is usually enjoyed with a sparkling fermented beverage. Ergo, bangers on implies that the work is done. Time to celebrate.)
As you know, the Macintosh is a very sturdy operating system based almost entirely on Unix, but with a candy apple shell GUI. The developers of this candy coating went to great lengths to provide transparent services to the users that once were only available to the zealous key coders of yesteryear. File Sharing is one such feature. All one has to do is turn it on and specify a folder, and that folder makes itself discoverable on the local network. Oddly though, having it on interferes with passive FTP. All I did to make passive FTP work was to inadvertently decide that maybe … just maybe … it was a problem because it was another kind of File Transfer Protocol. So, I tried turning it off and the rest is history.
    BANGERS ON!
