Probelm in Deleting INFOCUBE/ODS?

Hi ,
I'm trying to delete the Bussiness content CUBE and ODS,
Getting error when to delete Cube "Infoprovider "xyz" is not use Externally"
ODS error " Infoprovider "xyz" set to INACTIVE.
Please advice how to delete the CUBE/ODS in BI7.0 version.

I already loaded the data into the InfoCube and ODS. But i want to delete the 'year column=1900 , 1910' only (not the corresponding datarecords).
IS it possible to delete that Year Column only from the loaded data of InfoCube .
I think , it is possible by creating a new InfoCube and transferring my InfoCube data into newly created InfoCube and writing the start routine for Update Rules in between my InfoCube & newly created InfoCube.
So do you know the ABAP/4 code for that

How to automate selective deletion of ods in process chain

Hi,
How can we automate selective deletion of ods in Process chain. I tried with the proceedure. Using T-code "delete_fact" I gave selection parameters and Name of the program and saved this as variant and gave the same program and variant in Process cahin. But it is not deleting data. So plz guide me whether I have missed anything in this proceedure.

you have to give to program variants in the process chain for data deletion to take place. in the first program variant include the rsdrd_delete_facts as program name and in the program variant give a variant for your infoprovider selection.
Now again select another program variant and include the name of the program which you get after selecting the infoprovider name and the generate selection program option in the "program for deleting selected entries from the data target" screen " and press execute.
again give another variant for your field selection.
now try execute the process chain.

Data deleted in ODS, data coming from the data source : 2LIS_11_VASCL.
when for the above ods and the data source when trying to delete the request whole data got delted.
All the data got deleted in the fore ground. no background job has been generated for this.
I ma really worried abt this issues. can u please tell me what should be the possibilities for this issue.

Hi,
I suppose you want to know the possibilitiy of getting the data.
If the entire data is being deleted, you can reload the data from source system.
Load the setup table for your application. Then carry out init request.
Please note that you would have to take a transaction-free period for carrying out this activity so that no data is missed.
Once this is done, delta queues will again start filling up.

Cannot delete infocube

When trying to delete infocube (ZCSRDB_C3) I get the following error:

I am not finding anything in where-used for this cube. When I look in se16 at these F tables I get 0 entries for them. Likewise, I don't see these F tables in RSDDAGGRDIR. I do see entries in the RSDCUBEIOBJ table but I thought this just lised infoobjects that are used in a cube. I wouldn't think this would keep me from deleting the cube. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Well, the F tables are aggregate tables. Which is odd, of course, because when you go into "maintain aggregates" for the ZCSRDB_C3 infocube no aggregates exist. I have looked in RSDDAGGRDIR table to try to lookup the /BIC/F100029 and /BIC/F100040 aggregates and there is no entry for them (Note: I assumed you enter 100029 in the AGGRCUBE field).
Anyway, I don't know of any other way to tie the aggregate tables to an infocube. I'm guessing in the end I will just need to delete these tables in se14, but would really like to verify what they are tied to before I start deleting tables. Does anyone have any other ideas on how I can get more information on these aggregate tables?

Finding the infocube/ods space

Hi,
Using transaction ST14, I have got the Space used by top 30 Infocubes, ODS etc. on quality server. The same I tried to do on production server. But it gives the message
"Field or table is initial" instead of the list of Infocubes or ODS.
But actually everything on quality and production server is same. so i am not getting the proper solution.
Can anybody tell me how can i solve this problem?

you need to schedule the job in ST14 to get the first result for top 30 objects...but take care..as it will take a lot of time and resources and your other scheduled jobs will starve...
Also you can get the size through DB02...object name and then add the size of all the tables pertaining to that object.

Hi,
Designing ODS/CUBE depends on u r reporting requirement.
Sometimes there is no ODS for specific functional area. If u r going to design the ODS then ou need to know the the table from where u r datasource is extracting the data. Then on the basis of that u will have to design u r ODS. If u r using 3.5 then u need to add RECORDMODE manually but in BI7.0 it will added as a default value initial.
Then u can design all the relevant dimension in the cube on the basis of logically related infoobject. U can use line item dimension if any infoobject having same data record as fact table.Here u can follow Kimbal's rule while designing the Aggregates.
If u r using BI 7.0 then u may think on BI accelerator to design and maintaing the cube.

Error in deletion of ODS data

Hello Gurus,
We have three ODS's in our project to which we will do daily loads.
Before full upload we will delete all the present from the ODS's. The deletion process we will do automatically using process chains.
It was working fine. but from the past week we are getting an error while deleting ODS data. ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY - Error, Please explain me why we are getting such error and how to rectify it.
We tried to delete the requests manually one by one from ODS.
The data is deleting from the Active table but still it is showing that request in the <i>Manage</i> screen of ODS.
How to rectify this error. kindly give me some inputs.

Hi,
In the BW server you can try one of the report program to delete the entire requests in infocube or ods.
Report program is RSDELPART1
Just run this report program in se38.
In the selection screen of the program,give the name of the data target from where you need to delete all the existing requests.
This technique was once used.
Please let me know whether it works.

Loading performance of the infocube & ODS ?

Hi Experts,
Do we need to turn off the aggregates on the infocubes before loading so that it will decrease the loading time or it doesn't matter at all, I mean if we have aggregates created on the infocube..Is that gonna effect in anyway to the loading of the cube ? Also please let me know few tips to increase the loading performance of a cube/ods. Some of them are
1. delete index and create index after loading.
2. run paralled processes.
3. compression of the infocube , how does the compression of an infocube decrease the loading time ?
Please throw some light on the loading performance of the cube/ods.

Hi Daniel,
Aggregates will not affect the data loading. Aggregates are just the views similar to InfoCube.
As you mentioned some performance tuning options while loading data:
Compression is just like archiving the InfoCube data. Once compressed, data cannot be decompressed. So need to ensure the data is correct b4 Compressing. When you compress the data, you will have some free space available, which will improve data loading performance.
Other than the above options:
1.If you have routines written at the transformation level, just check whether it is tuned properly.
2.PSA partition size: In transaction RSCUSTV6 the size of each PSA partition can be defined. This size defines the number of records that must be exceeded to create a new PSA partition. One request is contained in one partition, even if its size exceeds the user-defined PSA size; several packages can be stored within one partition.
The PSA is partitioned to enable fast deletion (DDL statement DROP PARTITION). Packages are not deleted physically until all packages in the same partition can be deleted.
3. Export Datasource:The Export DataSource (or Data Mart interface) enables the data population of InfoCubes and ODS Objects out of other InfoCubes.
The read operations of the export DataSource are single threaded (i.e. sequential). Note that during the read operations u2013 dependent on the complexity of the source InfoCube u2013 the initial time before data is retrieved (i.e. parsing, reading, sorting) can be significant.
The posting to a subsequent DataTarget can be parallelized by ROIDOCPRMS settings for the u201Cmyselfu201D system. But note that several DataTargets cannot be populated in parallel; there is only parallelism within one DataTarget.

Delete InfoCube Index Question

Hi,
Before my data loads I have always dropped InfoCube Indexes. I recently Partitioned our largest InfoCube and now it seems that dropping the indexes takes forever so now I can't really drop the indexes during our daytime loads because it would take too long to delete and rebuild the indexes on this InfoCube.
Does anyone know if this is normal behavior for a partitioned InfoCube to take so long to drop and rebuild indexes?

Since you stated that this infocube was large, and you recently partitioned it, make sure you compress your requests . Also consider compressing with zero elimination as much as possible - this will reduce data size for indexing.
How big is the DB server this is running on? Are the DBAs looking at DB settings regarding this which could impact index creation time, e.g. ora init settings, temp space, index tablespaces, etc.
You might also need to delete unused indexes which are still existing on your cube.
Also, these index rebuilds should be running with No logging specified - which is default. But it might help to check and confirm once.
Other than this, OSS note 323090 might be worth checking for you.

Check your all the requests in the cube if they are all okay.
Secondly..check all the InfoObjects that you have used in your InfoCube...
Thirdly..check if the cube is updating any other data target...

Delete Infocube via process chain V RSA1

When deleting the contents of an Infocube through RSA1 you get a choice of deleting Dimensions or Dimensions and Facts. When you are creating a process chain and you use the object Del;ete contents, what does it use as default Delete dims, or delete dims and facts?

In the process chain, goto the deletion process step.
Right mouse click and select Display Variant.
Here you can see a check box and "Also Delete All Dimention Table Contents".
Based on whether this check box is ticked or un-ticked, you can make out what it does.
