Probelm in Visual Composer config in developer studio (NWCE7.2) for R3/BI

Hello,
I have installed the NWCE7.2 for pilot and having problem in configuring the Visual composer in developer studio to connect to Backend R3/BI
I have followed the steps mentioend in the page but consistently getting the eerror

error : Connection failed, checke network connections settings or authorisation details : Search exception (0)
Can anyone please guide me how to go about getting this working.

Hi Raghu,
We can view the services by creating a logical destination in the NWDS.
For this purpose we need to do the following steps :-
Window > Preferences > Destination Configuration > R/3 Configuration - For ECC destinations
Window > Preferences > Destination Configuration > Web Service Configuration - For Web service.
Please try it and let me know if successfull.

BPM TOOL, what is Visual Composer Vs any other BPM Tool

Could you please share information regarding using a modeling tool to author business process [as-is/to-be]
ours is new implemantation and we already own sap business suite software, and our implementation /configuration Team is considering of using a bpm tool to do capture the processes.
my question is what leverage can we take of Visual Composer ? when compared with other BPM Tool.

If you have license for SAP Suite, then there is lot of things you can leverage with VC than it being useless if otherwise.
1. You can combine the output from the quick design and code free modeling environment of Visual Composer with the output from a full coding environment like Web Dynpro ABAP or BSP? Actually you can do just such a thing thanks to Portal Eventing. You can trigger event from VC. Yes, you can combine ABAP and VC
2. You can extend Visual Composer through Web Services
3. You can do an MDM integration in VC - combining data from varied sources
4. You can build a Web Services Based Visual Composer Application. Visual Composer has the capability to easily link to and consume a web service from within the SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer storyboard.
Also, if you are using BSP, these applications can be linked into a Visual Composer application. The linking is done via portal eventing. Linking these two technologies into a single application with receiving and parsing the Visual Composer event string from within ABAP.
5. SAP has released 300+ Enterprise Services and there are many ways to consume these. A BPX can use Visual Composer and the Composite Application Framework (CAF) to consume SAP Enterprise Services using MDD - Model drived development.
6. J2ee engine from Developer Studio is disabled

Hi Experts,
The restart of j2ee engine from Developer Studio is disabled for some reason. The function "restart process" is grey in j2ee engine management in NWDS.
Can anyone help me to enable it?

1. Switch debug mode on temporarily using the J2EE Engine view
in the NetWeaver Developer Studio
2. Switch debug mode on permanently using the J2EE Visual
Administrator.
Whichever way is chosen, the J2EE engine will need to be restarted
for the configuration to take effect.
The Visual Administrator tool allows you to configure all aspects of the J2EE Engine. Using this tool, itis possible to switch on the debug mode permanently.
*USING THE J2EE ENGINE IN NWDS*
Select the server node and from the right mouse click pop-up menu,
select "ENABLE DEBUGGING OF PROCESS"u201D.
This will cause the server node to restart in debug mode.
USING THE VISUAL ADMINISTARTOR
1.start the visual administraotr
2.select the configurtation adapter.
3.locate cluster data.
4.switch to change mode

BAPI in Visual Composer

Dear all,
im using Visual composer 7.0 and trying to build an application for Real Estate.
when i goto BAPI transation in ECC 6.0 i can see my bapi
bapi_re_sc_create with diffirent input parametrs than those
appearing in the visual composer (input ports).
does this mean i have to raise a message to SAP or did
someone come through this error before ?

i have made sure both system and client are same.
please if anyone has access to visual composer and transaction BAPI
check input ports for BAPI_RE_SR_CREATE in visual composer and in transaction BAPI select the filter all, and then select
Real estate Management --> Flexible real estate -->
RESearchRequestREFX --> Create.
check import parameters are they the same

Where do I get a copy of Visual Composer??

It is not available for download from the SAP website.
I wanted to create an EAI solution for demonstration purposes using VC, but I read it is not possible to connect to non-SAP systems using the Visual Composer?
So it is no use for what I want.

Hi Sean,
Visual Composer was not yet released in an unrestricted shipment release, therefore it is still not available for download. It is planned to happen in the third quarter of 2004 (Probably September).
This version will support not only SAP data sources but also JDBC and Siebel (with more third parties to come in the future).

The NW Developer Studio is only for Web AS 6.40. The reason is that the NW Developer Studio is based on J2EE 1.3 while Web AS 6.20 is based on J2EE 1.2.
In your case, if you only want an IDE for WebAS 6.20, you can use the free download Eclipe from eclipe.org. And if you want to use a JCo proxy generator for your development, you can use the Java Connectivity Builder to do so. This Java Connectivity Builder comes with the CD in the Web AS 6.20 package. The function is to generate Java proxies for accessing BAPI.

To answer your third question, No, NetWeaver Developer Studio (NDS) isn't to replace ABAP or ABAP workbench. NDS helps in creating Java based applications to compliment with the ABAP programs and enable them accessible via the Enterprise Portal. ABAP would stay to be the primary development language for SAP systems. The newest version of NetWeaver software also come with an option of ABAP stack where in you can develop web based applications (accessible via the portal) using ABAP

I Want To Know Client Side Validations Possible in Visual Composer.
Because I Write Validate Code For input Field.They Give Only Red Color Message To inputField WhatEver I Gave In Condition Error Message.They Do N't Validate the InputFileds.But They give Suggession Only.

Hi SubbaRao,
Although the WebDyn Pro runtime of VC does not perform "true" client side validations, the conditions that a modeler enters on a given control can prevent unnecessary requests to the back end. In order to add such a rule to a control you need to:
1. Choose Configure on the context menu of the control you want to validate
2. Select Rules in the Validation group of the task panel. This will open the Define Validation Rules dialog box.
3. Click the Add Row button, and then open the Condition drop down list, and add the condition you want (to prevent).
4. In the Error Message column, enter the text you want to display when this condition occurs.
If you have an action defined in the same view, it will not be carried out if the condition is true.
If your action is defined in a different view, you need to change the action's validation scope - go into the Define Action dialog and the validation tag, and change the validation scope to "window"
If none of this helps, try to describe what you have done and I'll see if I can help.
