Problem "A serious error..." after msi deployment (8.0 on Vista)

Environment is Windows Vista Business with UAC enabled in a Win2003 policy controlled network.
Files used:
acropro.msi provided on the Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional volume licence CD.
acropro.mst created with Adobe Customization Wizard 8.
Command executed:
msiexec /i \\mynetwork\...\acropro.msi transforms=\\mynetwork\...\acropro.mst
Situation:
After successful deployment of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, when Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional is run, after about 5 seconds I get the message saying: "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot continue. Please reinstall the application and try again".
After searching google, this seems related to the activation service unable to contact a licence server.
Our volume licence CD is supposed to be pre activated. In fact, after manually running setup.exe on the same CD, everything works. And no activation is necessary. But not so using the msi.
My question:
I want to deploy Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro using only the msi. Anyone has a idea?

Our problem was partly solved by ordering another CD with ALM (Auto License Management) disabled from Adobe. See the reference.

Then Acrobat 8.0 installs Ok under an Admin account. The Acrobat 8.1 patch renders the software useable with non admin credentials.

Export problem "A serious error has occured", or hang, upon export to Encore.

I am using adobe Premiere CS3 3.2
I am trying to export my project to a DVD. I've been told that the best way to do this with minimizing quality loss is to export to Encore.
My project has some filters that affect system memory and have locked up the computer numerous times before, like Looks Suite and Noise Remover (on some clips)
when I choose export to Encore, then choose settings, I get the error "A Serious Error has occured...." Then I trried lowering the settings, and I got the window that says "Rendering", at least, but nothing appeared in that window after I left it overnight.
So I have some questions:
- What's the best thing I can do to export my movie onto a DVD with minimum loss of quality?
- Should I export as a video file first? Which is the best quality? Then can I export to Encore?
- Does it help to pre-render my entire project in Premiere first, THEN export to Encore?
I'd appreciate some advice.

EDIT: I just tried to export as a Quicktime Uncompressed video with the regular method (Export-> Movie).. and it gave me the error "Could not compile movie..." then the message "adobe premiere pro is running very low on system memory"
So I am assuming this is a memory issue? Then what should I do??
Also, I want to ask- If I put my entire project with all its files onto an external hard drive, then move them to another computer with adobe premiere pro installed which also has the same filters installed, would I be able to export this way?

I am quite sure it is a memory problem... the computer exported other videos in the past just fine, but its never been used for making a film with a lot of filters and such that run down the memory, and so it gives me the memory errors.
I am not sure what is "Memtest86+"... I would like to try such a program, but in fact this is not my computer... I am using a Workstation at a University and now I have limited time to complete my project (I must figure out a solution by the end of the day on Monday)
Maybe AVI is the best for some... but I have done comparisons beforehand which found .mov to be the best... and I was even told that uncompressed quicktime doesn't lose quality at all (though in fact it seems to just a bit). So if you not completely sure which will be better, I will go with .mov.
So I will try a few things- like exporting only the "special" clips which used a lot of filters on individually as .mov, then reimporting them into the project, then trying to export the whole thing into encore... If that does not work, I will try to export fragments as.mov (because if I try to export too much at one time, it has the memory error->crash).. then create a new project, import the .mov files, and export to Encore.
I only have limited time to solve this problem.. do you all think I am taking the right steps?
Also one key question I have is about the audio.. do you recommend that I export all of the audio into one wav file, and then put that into the new project? Or should I just export the quicktime files, with their audio, into the project and keep it like that?

Tried it in Premiere Pro CC, and it doesn't work!
A have tried three times..
- new project
- imported my video

For me the OpenCL Mercury Render engine is less stable and performs worse than the CUDA equivalent on NVIDIA cards. As you say you are using an NVIDIA card, see if there is a CUDA option for Filmconvert or use software rendering on the CPU as you have found.

Serious Error After SpeedGrade Dynamic Link

I used dynamic link to send a sequence to SpeedGrade. When I sent the sequence back to Premiere, it completely froze up and after forcing quit, Premiere said there was a serious error and needed to shut down. Even when attempting to reopen the file, the same thing happens. I've tried rebooting, uninstalling and checking the library folder permissions.

the link exists but cannot be used for some reason (it refers to a database alias which is valid). That was actually the reason why I wanted to re-create it.
Nevertheless I tried the utlrp.sql script, but it gave the same error as before.
As I noted in my first message, in 10g the situation is different, there DBMS_XDBZ is also a package in the XDB schema and the synonym points to it.
As I currently don't have access to another 11R2 database, I cannot compare the XDB schema to another one, maybe there was some problem when creating the database. But up to now I've had no problems.
Could you please tell me how it is in your database, is there a package DBMS_XDBZ in the XDB schema or only a (public) synonym as in mine?

SDO invocation errors after re-deploying composites

Hi,
We have an application with EJB exposing SDO web services and composites calling those services.
The wsdl and xsd files for those services are pushed in MDS by our build.
The problem is every time we re-deploy the application (EJBs, wsdl/xsd to MDS, then composites), the composite throw errors when trying to invoke the SDO web services. For instance:
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Exception [EclipseLink-45010] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 1.1.1.v20090430-r4097): org.eclipse.persistence.
exceptions.SDOException
Exception Description: Type not found for interface [com.ed.ted.sdo.EscSDO]
at org.eclipse.persistence.sdo.helper.delegates.SDODataFactoryDelegate.create(SDODataFactoryDelegate.java:54)
The problem also happens when we re-deploy one of the composite making SDO calls.
We use ant scripts to build and deploy.
The only solution we have found so far to get rid of this issue is to follow these steps:
- un-deploy all ejbs and composite
- stop the server
- delete domain/servers/cache and tmp
- restart server
- re-deploy ejbs and composites
Has anyone encountered this kind of issues ?
We can't figure out if it is linked with MDS caches, SDO or weblogic.

I had the exact same error when trying to invoke an EJB/JPA based SDO exposed as a SOAP WebService (based on Biemond's example: http://biemond.blogspot.be/2012/08/generating-ejb-sdo-service-interface.html).
To get rid of this strange error, I had to:
1) delete domain/servers/cache (not the tmp)
2) restart server
Then when I invoked the SDO service from SoapUI again, it worked! :)

Why do I get "The system has recovered from a serious error" after system shut down

Every time when start/restarting the computer using the attached .vi I get a window with "The system has recovered from a serious error." Although this does not seems to have any effect on application and I am able to use the test equipment but could someone explain why this is happening?

Why not just connect errorcode directly with BundleByName? You don't need the Select function here...

Problems with Start up after loading Parallel and adding Windows Vista

Everytime I start up my MacBook, I have to hold the option button down. Otherwise it goes into a booting up windows screen. How do I get the computer to go right to the Mac desktop, when starting up?

You have selected Vista as your boot OS.
In Leopard, open the System Preferences and under Startup Disk, select Mac OS X, 10.5.whatever and that will solve your problem.
You can also set the boot preference in Vista, but I am not sure exactly where. BootCamp installs a similar boot option in Vista or XP.

Clients getting errors after ZAM deployment

Hi, I have created one NAL to deploy the ZAM Asset management to all Asian workstations. now there is one site all workstations getting one errors "windows xp setup: the application could not be initialized when start up" after deployment. this error always happened whenever client startup. please advise
how to get rid of that. thanks.

Big Problem !N73 error after update

Hi guys, im having a problem on my N73 and maybe you guys can help me.
I did the software update on my n73, before i did the security copie all good all ok, now i put the security copy back to my n73 and after i put the PIN number it appears a message saying " Error starting up the phone". and i cant pass that part, but the weird part is that i still can take call and the menu and everything appears when someone is calling me ! o.0.
But i cant make call or access the menu, is all white with the error message.
Can someone help me? thanks

We have sucesfully developed an ADF application (latest 10g ADF libraries), deployed it to OAS (10.1.2), everything were working. Now the application is moved to another hardware, all software is newly installed, same versions are used. And now we are getting this error on any page access:

Major problems and vital errors after downloading

left the mac downloading from itunes (through firefox) and did not return for a few hours - when i did i found a program called Talkback had installed itself, and the computer seemed to have crashed. i restarted to find a large number of vital errors:
1: finder is non-responsive
2: all documents from hard drive have disappeared/unable to see anything
3:the programmes themselves are working - i can access the internet on firefox for example- (as i am now)
4: when i open Safari this programme TALKBACK appears on the dock (and error messages pop up). it cannot be dragged to the trash
5: all drop down menus are blank (including apple menu), all dialogue boxes are blank
6: all typing apart from in specific apps(ie here!) is blank
7; all desktop files and folders have disappeared
8: fonts have changed style
What can i do? luckily i have everything on an external hard drive, but most of the computer is unusable. What is Talkback and what has it done?
Any help GRATEFULLY recieved.
p.s- i have already posted on this topic but did not give a good title to get attention!

It would really be good if you had the original disks so you could run the Apple hardware test. You can call Apple support and if they still have sets available, they're around $60. You could also buy the TechTool Pro utility which does the same type of hardware testing, as well as has pretty good disk repair functionality, better than what the Apple Disk Utility can handle. When the Apple Disk Utility won't repair a hard drive, Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro are the two choices for repairs.

I tried added the patch update 9.0 but can't open it because I told I can only open this if it comes from apple store

When you uninstall Premiere Elements 9.0 to which the 9.0.1 Update has been applied, both are uninstalled. So, at reinstallation, first Premiere Elements 9 gets reinstalled and, when that is successful, then you reinstall the 9.0.1 Update.
Here are the check list for the basics for a working program. In just case, please review the list to make sure you have ruled each in or out of the problem situation you are now facing
1. Working from 9.0.1 Update and are do you have the latest version of QuickTIme installed on your computer with Premiere Elements?
2. Program works with or with the antivirus program disabled?
3. Installed and are running program from User Account with Administrative Privileges and also Run As Administrator applied via desktop icon?
4. Video card/graphics card driver is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
5. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file (also known as the settings file). That should be found Users/User name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Elements/number of version. In the folder which has the version number as its name should be the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete.
6. Scratch Disks reviews.

As it relates to Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Mac.
The spontaneous fix of the previous episode of this issue makes me wonder if some computer updates may be factoring into this. What programs do you have automatically updating at this time?
Please review and consider and then we can decide what next. Since I am not an Elements Mac user, I am hoping to find common ground between the Windows and Mac programs to find the problem and resolve it.

MSI deployment problem/previous MSI Versions or Uninstaller?

I'm attempting to deploy the latest Flash Player 11.3.300.265 MSI but almost every installation is failing. If I try to deploy the MSI manually on a problem workstation, I'm prompted for previous versions of the MSI. Apparently the older copy of the MSI we have on our file server doesn't match what's on some of the desktops, so I receive error 1714 and the installation fails. On workstations that have the same MSI version as what's on our file server installed, the new MSI installs properly as it's locating the previous MSI it needs. Apparently the newer MSI packages are dependent upon whatever existing MSI is currently loaded. So my solutions appear to be:
Obtain each previous MSI package from version 10 and up and rotate the version stored on our network file share. Each workstation will then eventually see the old version it's looking for to faciliate a successful installation of the new MSI.
Find an automated way to uninstall the current version of Flash Player and run this task ahead of the new Flash Player MSI deployment task.
Option 1 would require me to obtain each previous version we may have deployed. Is there such a file repository available?
Option 2 is something I've tried working on but have not been successful. The Flash Player uninstaller does not seem to work correctly. After running it I'm still prompted for the previous MSI at the original location it was deployed from. The Player is not listed in Programs and Features/Add-Remove Programs and the Flash directories in the Windows system folders only have the Flash log file and nothing else.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

There is a "universal flash player installer" you can get it here : from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe.
This uninstaller gets updated with each flash player release. You also need to get the current copy to uninstall the latest version of the flash players.
here are some notes I've placed in my script
REM WARNING a new copy of uninstall_flash_player.exe must always be used for every new Flash version.
REM from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe
REM After downloading remove the "unblock" stream from uninstall_flash_player.exe
REM
This will get ride of all prevous version.
uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall
after this you can install the current version with the msi files.
