Problem about EA6700 USB Storage

I am using a USB2.0 disk on the EA6700(plug in the usb2.0 slot of the router).
I can copy file to the usb disk from computer and play movie file on computer directly from the usb disk.
But when I want to delete the file in the usb disk. The windows7 system pop up an alert said I need some kind of authority to delete the file.(the file that I just copy into usb disk from computer few minutes ago)
The alert window shows:You need the Linksys\admin authority to delete this file.
But sometimes the alert is:You need the Unix User\admin authority to delete this file.
So I go to check the router config.
USB Storage > Folder Access > Secure Folder Access(already turned ON) and there are 2 authorized users:admin(read & write) and guest(read only)
USB Storage > FTP Server(already turned ON) and "FTP Port 21" and "Encoding UTF-8"
USB Storage > Media Server(already turned ON)
Now I have to plug in the usb disk on computer when I want to delete file.
How can I directly delete it when it`s on the router? How can I have the authority?
Thanks very much!

You may want to contact Microsoft on how to create a login account in your computer. Make sure that the router's Folder and File Sharing was configured properly. Check this link to know more about the USB storage options of the router:

  • Some problems about making USB boot

    Hi AF!
I'm having really big problems about making a USB Install Key!
Its a 256mb (I will only use base) But how should I make the partitions??
After reading another topic - http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=18643
I still having some problems - Normally I would say the whole USB key should be FAT16 - is that correct or how should I make this ????
Another part is about making the bootloader ?? Should that be Lilo or should I use the mksysconfig. If I use lilo with /sbin/lilo -M /dev/sda - I get the error upon boot - this is not a bootable floppy or disc??
And if I use mksyslinux?? - well not sure I'm using the correct command - so how do I use this ???
    Thanks
    Peque

well its been some time since i did this but if memory serves well
    make sure that in /etc/mkinitrd.conf the USB= "   "  <thats blank  not

i believe i told mkinitrd to install all the usb modules i needed even then i had to use initrd-full.img
    also i needed mdadm installed
i ran lilo on my pen  grub just wouldnt work for me it installed but couldnt find what to boot . lilo would boot up on the machine i installed it on but wouldnt boot on ant other machine never did figure that out , my thoughts went else where at that time & havent  gone back to it yet.

  • E3000 USB Storage / Media Server - Web access?

I just set up an E3000 router and haven't any problems so far.  I have a question about the USB storage and/or Media Server though.
I hooked up a USB drive to the router, and it works just fine via Windows Explorer.  Is there a way to access it through a web browser though?  I'd like to access the drive from my Wii if that's possible, so is there a way, possibly with the media server? Mainly, I want to play videos from the drive on my TV, but I don't have a fancy internet-enabled TV
    Thanks in advance.

I think you can try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your router.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router and upgrade the firmware on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on your router, reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.

  • A2107A USB storage puzzle

I've recently acquired two of these tablets (over-enthusiastic bidding on eBay!), and I'm pretty happy with them. But puzzled about the USB storage they offer: they seem to be identical units, same model number, build number, baseband version. But one of them says it has 12.26Gb of total USB storage, the other only 1.35GB. Any explanation? Genuinely differently hardware inside? Or some software issue that might be fixable?

Hi, Please try the following first:    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70001-70500/sp70030.exe If still no luck, you have to install chipset driver before USB 3.0 driver using driver from the following link:   http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-r200-notebook-pc-series/7486447/model/7584372 Regards.

  • WRT600N USB Storage Problems Solved

For a couple of years, I've been living with all the problems others have reported with the WRT600N USB storage - lost connections, permissions problems, rebooting the router to recover access to the USB drive, etc. I solved my problems, mostly, by switching to a DLink DIR-655 router. I assume other routers in the Dlink family that support USB devices will perform similarly.
My main problem seemed to be interference from the microwave, which is in an open kitchen/keeping room arrangement in my house. However, the bottom line is that any time I lost wireless connectivity to the router, due to the microwave or unknown causes, I'd lose access to the USB drive. This meant a trip upstairs to power cycle the router and the USB drive several times a day.
With the Dlink, I still sometimes lose wireless connectivity due to the microwave or unknown causes, but not as often. Sometimes, but not always, this will cause me to lose the USB drive access. If I do need to reboot the router, I can do so from the web based interface, something that was not possible with the WRT600N, so no more trips upstairs to perform this operation. I also find have a stronger wireless signal in my work location with the Dlink.
Dlink uses a SharePort software utility to manage the USB connection and this has to be installed on all PC's that want access to the USB device. SharePort makes a USB device appear to be a local device attached directly to the computer you're using and you can attach external drives/printers/probably USB hubs. (I've experimented only with an external USB drive.) Because of this, however, only one computer can attach to the USB device at a time - not a problem for me, but you need to be aware. The software has a mechanism for requesting access to the USB device from one computer, when the device is in use by another computers. You can also set it to automatically connect to the USB device if its available, to try a reconnect if connection is lost, and to automatically run a program when the USB device connects. Dlink says SharePort will support FAT or NTFS formatted drives and there's no known limitation on the drive size.
Dlink support doesn't seem much better than here - it took about three weeks for me to get an answer on the external drive size and formatting options. There are plenty of complaints on the Dlink support site about poor support, poor performance of SharePort, etc.  So, all I can say is their router/USB device sharing has worked much better for me than my Linksys WRT600N ever worked.

Welcome to the WRT600N nightmare. The Storage Link is poorly documented, and the firmware controlling it has issues. Basically, it will corrupt file date/times stamps whenever you copy files onto the attached drive. It has also been known to be a bit flaky about maintaining the drive as a connected/mapped drive. Backup programs may have difficulty accessing the drive via Storage Link. Depending on the file format you use, you may encounter file size limitations on the Storage Link drive.
I, personally, gave up after a few days of these issues mentioned above and bought extra USB hard drives for each computer in the house rather than try and use the Storage Link as a NAS.
What O/S are you using on your computer? I can try and walk you through the setup.

  • [solved] USB storage devices problem

Hello everyone. I have MSI Wind U270 and recently I've moved from Ubuntu 11.04 to Arch. I really like Arch so far but I have one quite big problem and I can't find any solution, so I hope someone here could help me.
After I'd installed Arch, I tried to copy some file from/to USB flash drive. After just few seconds, transfer failed with information about I/O errors and USB flash drive disappeared along with any other USB drives connected at the same time but logitech usb mouse and keyboard continue to work.
My first thought was that it's simply broken USB drive, but same thing was happening also when I tried to move some files from/to any other USB storage device that I have.
Here is sample dmesg output after I connect device:

Next I thought – computer is broken. But it simply couldn't be true because in Ubuntu it's working.
I wanted to test if USB transfer is working in other distros, so I downloaded few and tried:
Ubuntu 11.04 – everything is working
Ubuntu 11.10 – it's not working, exactly same errors as in Arch
    Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 2 – it's not working
    Mint 11 – it's working
    Mint 12 – it's not working
So one thing in common that I can think of is fact that USB transfer is working in distros using kernel <3.0 and is broken in those using kernel >=3.0.
In dmesg output I can see ehci_hcd errors. When I remove this module before moving files, than everything is working fine apart from very slow transfer but it's obvious.
I really hope that someone will be able to help with my problem.  I don't know if it's some bug or it's just some configuration error.
EDIT: problems were caused by rts5139 module (card reader). Blacklisting that module solved all the problems.

  • EA6350 usb storage problems

I have a WD Mybook 3tb drive setup as my usb storage, and it is very unreliable. At times it works fine, but is unusble a large majority of the time. As in, it can't access a single file on the drive. It doesn't seem to be related to access either, as it sometimes happens under heavy usage, other times accessing a file at a time. The drive had no problems when plugged into a computer.
All of my settings are default, no secure access, no media server or ftp server, no media prioritization.

I recommend trying this, it maybe trying to catalog that size of information and may take a while. Do a reset sometime at night before you go to bed, Set up the router again and enable the drive on the router. Let the router and the drive be alone over night and check back in the morning. Let the router do it's cataloging of the drive. It should be done by morning. Look at the drive light in the morning. If it's still blinking, the router maybe still accessing the drive and it's contents.
The more you put on the drive the longer it may take the router to catalog the drive and it's contents. I personally don't use USB drives on the router unless they are small drives. I prefer using wired LAN NAS for any storage solutions.

  • E3000 USB Storage Problem

    Hey,
Just setup my E3000 router and all was good.
Connected a FAT formatted HHD to it and all went well.
Disconnected the HDD and uploaded my music and movies.
When I connect the drive and click the "Create Share" button, the dialog comes up as normal but when I hit the "Submit" button the browser shows me this message:
"Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data."
As if I have lost connection to the router. For about a minute or two I can't access the router.
Any ideas? I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.7 if that makes any difference.
    Thanks guys!

I think you can try to reset the router and reconfigure it.
Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.
Follow this link to configure the USB storage connected to the router.

  • EA4500 USB storage problem

I have ea4500 with the latest avaiable firmware. smart wi fi, I have tried several USB pens and hard disk  but I cannot save a file over 3.1 mb to to the shareport device. the routers main page shows the correct storage space available, but the computer always shows 3.1 mb available  I can access files saved on the stick no problem, but i cannot add files
osx mountain lion, all Usb storage device are formatted to FAT
    please help me I'm desperate!!!

Are you having the same issue saving files using other computers? Check if this is the case and use a windows- based computer for isolation. Is Secure Folder Access ON and have you set authorized users for your storage device? You might be using a log-in that only has read access as you are not able to add files. See Tested HDD and Printers for the EA4500. These devices are guaranteed to work with the EA4500. If your drive is not on the list, there is a slim chance that the storage feature will not work (properly).

    Hi
    Welcome To Lenovo Community
You may need to install the correct drivers for USB
    http://www.tinybeetle.us/A1_USB_Driver_20110816.zip
Extract that to a folder and then point windows to that folder when it does the driver search.

  • EA6400 Problem FTP USB Storage

When I do not restrict the acces to the files I can reach them by FTP
When I do restrict the acces I can not reach them anymore
After usin my login I got this screen
Like you see: the Transcend is not visible.
Yes I have the rights to see and write on the USB Storage.
    Anybody a suggestion?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Use Username: admin and Password: the router password (admin by default). Don't use your Linksys Smart WiFi account password.
Are you able to access the drive locally using the Remi user? Did you made sure that you checked the Transcend share when you created the Remi user?
Try Chadster's suggestion by creating a new user and clear the browser. Or you can try using another computer.

  • My Pro freezes when I connect USB storage

ok so for about a month and a half now, sometimes when I connect a USB storage device, my MBP (13 inch, from the most recent early 2011 line) will freeze. if there's an animation ont he screen, like the time machine symbol, it will keep going, but no response from keyboard or trackpad. at first it happened with a new cheap USB flash stick, so I thought it was that. but since then, once in a while it happens with my time machine USB hard drive, my android phone, and a different USB stick, none of which have had this problem before on anything, including my earlier Macbook from 2008. ideas/causes? this guy seems to have a similar problem: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15088832#15088832

  • Using USB storage devices very slow in SL

I have two MAC's and use Entourage on both, in order to keep my Microsoft Data Base sync's I have it on a removable storage device which I move from MAc to Mac. Since updating to 10.6.1(SL) Entourage has slowed down to a snails pace and I can only assume that SL is doing something different in handling the USB external storage devices .
Very disappointing and frustrating .....Apple not a good move
    Anyone else having problems
    Thx
    John

Yes, there are many threads about slow usb transfer or slow i/o in general e.g. (not necessary linux 3-related)

Was the issue present in kernel26 as well? What filesystem does your usb device have? How slow is the transfer?
