Problem about New Portal Desktop?

hello
I have read the PDF document about How to Create a New Portal Desktop.
And I have done following the document.
Now I have a problem,when the test user open the Portal Desktop,the Top-Level Navigation iview is in the top,and it cover half of the Masterhead iview.
I check a long time ,but I can't find what's the reason.
Anyone can help me ?

Hi lexian,
May be while creating the theme you would have set a larger height pixel for this.

Hi Pradeep.,
1. add a new 'IF' rule.
2. Edit it in the edit section (above the 'IF's part) to 'user' (in the dropdownlistbox) = <userid> (free text).
3. Press 'Apply'.
4. Edit the 'Then' section of the new IF to show the new portal desktop. You can add the full desktop's id by right clicking on it in the 'browse content' section if the screen (where you opened the Display Rule from) and choosing 'add portal desktop to expression'.
5. Press 'Apply'.
6. Move your 'IF' up. Display rules are evaluated from top to bottom until the first one that applies.

The problem about integrate Portal and R/3

Hi everyone :
   We want to achieve that our vendor can query R/3 report via our Portal. I had done SSO configuration.
   But we had about 500 vendors, it is impossible that we create 500 R/3 users for our vendors, because the cost is too much .
   And there is another problem, vendor who had the authorization to query report can query the other vendor's data at same time. But we expect that certain vendor can query his data only.
   I think this is a general problem when integrate Portal and R/3, BW .
   Is there somebody had solved this problem or give any advice?
   Any discuss is welcome.

I would say: get in contact with your SAP account manager anc check which options SAP can offer you...
Normally every user using a R/3 system has to have a valid user license in that system. Expecially when you want to access control to data on user (vendor) level you nedd to identifiy the user clearly and uniquely which by standard means you need a user for every vendor.

Customization of New Portal Desktop Framework

Hi All,
My requirement is customization of Default Framework Page based on client specifications and i need to assign that new Desktop Framework page to only end users not for all the users.
The Below steps i did,
I copied the default framework page into my own folder in Content Administration and then i did few changes after that i went to System Admin Role and i added my Own Framework page to Portal Desktop, after that i went to master rule collection in Super Admin role here i created the one rule and i am applying the my own frame work page to user using If USER = XXXX THEN Portal Desktop = XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, after that when i am clicking on APPLY button i am getting below error ERROR_DESKTOP_NOT_FOUND
If any thing i did mistake please let me know, if any one knows step by step solution please help me on this one.

Using URL Alias in "main rule" for a new portal desktop.

I am having a scenario :
I am having two different business functionality. For accessing them separately i have to create to different portal desktops. Each one will have there own iviews and roles.
BUT
They can have similar user ids.
I.e. same user can access both the deskops based on option selected by him.
Supposed Implementation which i am thinking :
i will create a html page with 2 buttons :
1st button : Application 1
2nd button : Application 2
I will map these buttons/Links to following URL.
Application 1 : irj/poral/application1
Application 2 : irj/poral/application2
On clicking either of these buttons/Links user will get a login screen for SAPNETWEAVER PORTAL.
After login which desktop to be displayed will be decided using following MASTER RULE :
Now i will create a master rule with "URL ALIAS" in IF condition.
My Master rule will look like this :
IF URLAlias = irj/poral/application1 THEN desktop = Application1
IF URLAlias = irj/poral/application2 THEN desktop = Application2
Now I am having 2 questions in mind :
Is this possible ?
How to create URL Alias for a desktop ?? (Or do i need to create a URL alias for desktop !!)
I cant try it until and unless i am sure !!
Please comment on my scenario....
Or tell me if there are some other options.........!!

yes this should work, you have to create the aliases application1 & application2 in the web.xml (see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/de/48/1d5d0171364269e10000000a421937/frameset.htm)
I think, the initial page with the buttons shouldn't be located in the portal, because then the users would be already logged on (but you can place it on the java-stack at the plain http anyway)
but keep in mind, that you have to create an alias in web.xml & a master rule for each alias you want to have.

I got the error message : "BlackBerry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." after I installed it by the zip installer named "610_b038_multilanguage.exe".
How to fix the error and launch the manager successdul?

I also cannot use the software with my Bold 9650. I have a solution though - buy an iPhone.

No access to new default desktop without Super Administrator role

I have created new desktops and rule collections. All new rule collections are linked to in the master rule collection under folder 'Super adminstrators'.
Now when I try to log on as a normal user his new desktop is not displayed - instead an error message saying that he doesn't have access appears.
If I assign the user the Super Administrator role, then the correct new desktop is displayed.
What setting am I missing?

Hi,
To fix the problem with the Portal Desktop, make sure that all users that it is assigned to have permissions to it and to every folder in the path to it (including the "End User" checkbox checked).

Runtime error while creating a Portal Desktop

Hello *,
I want to create a New Portal Desktop in System Administration > Portal display > Desktops & Display Rules (EP7 SP14).
The Portal Content editor is correctly showed when I create de Desktop in the Portal Content folder, BUT, a run time error is showed when I try to do the same under a "New Folder" under the Portal Content Folder.
I am working with Administrator user and the permissions have been defined as follows:
Portal Content
content_admin_role Full Control End User Role Assigner
Everyone Read End User Role Assigner
super_admin_role Owner User Role Assigner
system_admin_role Owner User Role Assigner
New Folder

What do you mean by a prefix here?
For me the theme implementation is not working either way
- I am not able to create a new desktop (some SAP Error)
- Copying the default desktop into my folder and doing the required changes there.
changed the name/id/theme/default framework page
but when i apply it to a user, doesnt show up.

We are on 7.0 SP13 (patch 3). We are also getting runtime error while creating a desktop.
I was reading one forum thread and came to know that there may be a bug in SP13 and 14 that...
If the desktop you are creating is in a folder that has a prefix (say, com.sap.folder), then it gives the run time error. Which turned out to be true in our case.
I was able to create a desktop in a folder which doesn't have prefix.
So I created the dekstop in non-prefix (dummy) folder and cut and paste the desktop to the needed folder.

Check the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

How to add new Portal Theme to Default Portal Desktop

I created a new Portal Theme and now I want to add it to the default portal desktop. Here are the steps I am following:
1. System Administration-> Portal Display -> Desktops and Display Rules
2. Open the default portal deskop under Portal Content->Portal Users->Standard Portal Users->Default Portal Desktop. Right-click and select Open->Object
3. My new Portal Theme does not appear in the list of available portal themes to choose for the default.
Please tell me what I have to do so that the portal theme I created appears in the list.

Problem migrating news from one portal to another one

Hello,
we want to replace our portal, that's why I have to transport all settings for the news and the news items itself to the new portal.
I already transported:
- the news form using WEBDAV
- the news items using WEBDAV
- the layout set
- the collection renderer
- the forms availability settings
- the news iViews
Now my problem is, that the news items are still not displayed and also the forms availability doesn't seem to work, as the forms are not offered in the KM Content.
Have I missed something to migrate? I hope you can help me.

I checked everything again, everything was transported successfully.
The /etc folder is not READ-ONLY.
Do you have some more things in mind what could be wrong?
