Problem about opening iPhoto
When i open iPhoto 5 for the first time the program searches for photos, even if there aren't photos on my library.
I've tryed to update iPhoto to the latest buid 5.0.4(263) but the problem still remain. I have the suspect that the problem is in the BezelService.framework folder, but i'm not sure.
The console give me this message:
2005-12-12 10:23:32.113 iPhoto[267] * +[CIPlugIn _addPlugIn:allowNonExecutable:]: selector not recognized
Maybe this is the problem? It is possible to substitute this plugin?
I hope to have explained well enough my problem.
Thanx for your help, if there's one
Alessio,
Someone in the past had the continuous loading of photos problem and it was related to installing iPhoto using Pacifist.
This is the file that was missing for the other posters.

If there is another Mac around that has this file, you can copy it to your Mac.

I installed iLife '06 tonight. When I opened iPhoto it said I would have to convert something and my pictures wouldn't be able to view on older iPhoto's. When I clicked yes only 1/10th of my pictures came back. The rest were just grey blocks and when I opened them it just had a question mark. I called Apple care and they said do the restore feature. I did that and it didn't work. Then I deleted all the photos out of iphoto and used my backup disks to restore them. I use backup 3 to do all my backing up. It put the photos in the picture folder but not in iphoto. Then i called apple care again and they said to restore the whole computer back to iLife 05 and try again. Has anyone else had this problem with installing it. I know the explanation is long but just wanted to state my case. I am currently reinstalling iLife 06 after restoring my computer
I fixed the problem. Guess I had a bad instal the first time. When i loaded it the first time the dock went away and I had to restart the computer. After I restored the computer back to out of box settings and loaded iLife 06 and it seem to work when i opened iPhoto back up

Hello,
When I open iPhoto (9.2.3) I have a message indicating inconsistencies.
I click Cancel or repair and the library displays.
I want this message to disappear
I tried to rebuild the authorizations, indexes and so on, but the problem persists.
I would like to create a new iPhoto library in which I would have everything back (slide shows, photos, albums.)
I contacted Apple but without Apple Care, no support.
They said me to create a new library and to copy the Masters directory of the old one to the newest.
After the copy, when I open the new library, it's empty.
Ideas?

When I´m trying to open iPhoto it says "The program turned off unexpectedly" What to do? I`ve tried to open it several times, but the same problem happens again.
We have no way of knowing, but if I were you I'd back up now at least.
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store -

BR Villy.LHi Villy,
Although i have not faced this issue but one workaround fix that can help you to address your problem would be....
Please add below 'actions' to 'everyone' role using NWA->Identity Management
UME keystore-view.TicketKeystore entry-actions.all.all
UME keystore-view.TicketKeystore property-actions.all.all
UME keystore-view.TicketKeystore view-actions.all.all
Then, Initiate RWB using URL - http://<j2ee-host>:<http-port>/rwb/rtc?op=init
I hope this fixes your issue.

Problem of opening iphoto library in other softwares
Hello,
As it is said in the title, i can't open the iPhoto library (i'm using iphoto 6.0.6 with os X 10.5.2) in other softwares, i mean, the photo viewer in mail, the photo viewer in iMovie, and also the photo viewer in the finder (datas file), when you want to download something on the web. But for example on data file, i can see the music, i can see the sequences also. The only thing i can't see is the photos from iPhotos.
I have to say, without that problem my iphoto is working totaly normaly, i don't have any problem.
I didn't found any support on the web or on the mac website, so i'm afraid i'm the only one having this problem.
Can you help me ?Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Problem with opening iphoto 6 library in iphoto08
I just copied my old iphoto 6 library into my new macbook, picture folder. Then I opened iphoto08, but iphoto shows no pictures, even though the "new" library is 6,3 GB large...
Any ideas?
The only thing I ca think of is that my old iphoto library seems a bit "messy" when I open it...Macbubel
What does "a bit messy" mean?
Some things to try:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point iPhoto at the library. If it finds a valid library then it will update and open it.
If it doesn't find a valid library: was iPhoto working normally on he old machine? Try copy it over again if it was - maybe a damaged copy.
Otherwise:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Updated to Yosemite, no problem. now iPhoto and iMovie won't open. Says I need to update software however, when i try to update indicates my User ID and PW won't work for these two pieces of software. User ID and PW works everywhere else.
I am having the same problem. I even changed my password and updated all of my security information. Now it just gives me an error and retry message, which of course also does not work. Went to support and was going to open a chat (seemed the simpler option) and received a message that my support has expired for this serial number unless I want to pay $29.00. So I chose the option to call later, which was the exact time suck I was trying to avoid. Why wouldn't the new operating system also update the apps that were already part of my old platform?

i cannot open iphoto- the message I am getting says Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command-
I tries and it doesnt work!!What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

i just updated my mac and when i went to open iphoto it says it "can not open because of a problem" how do i fix this?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List. -
Firstly, I can't open iPhoto on my macbook as of a few days and could it have anything to do with a problem I have updating my iPhone's software as I've downloaded extra iCloud storage but I still can't get the iPhone to recognise the space for software
No. With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
For the iPhone issue ask in the iPhone forum.

I am having a problem when I try to select a photo or itunes song in Imovie or other programs. I get a window with grey lettering that says: "Open Itunes to populate this list" or "Open iphoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list. I have tried relaunching programs and nothing appears. Seemed to start happening a while back after one of my system upgrades.
After a a lengthy conversation with Apple Tech. ($20), my problem seems to be solves. The Iphoto problem solved by trashing the plist file. The Itunes was more involved. We had to create a new Itunes folder and import the files into the new folder; and then import the playlists.

Can anyone help me. I have iPhoto 9.2 and Mac OS X 10.7.2.
Every time I open iPhoto 9.2 and try to go to photo stream iPhoto quits unexpectedly. When I reopen I get "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library. Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems."
I have read plenty of the posts on the subject and it seems that deleting the "3ivx" fixed the problem. I looked at the detaied reports and see where it says "
Library/Application Support/3ivx" etc..
On my report it says "/Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/*/iLMBiPhoto8Plugin". Does this help with an answer?I am also having this crashing problem. I am running lion on a 2010 mac mini. My iPhoto library is kept on an external drive. I just upgraded to iPhoto 11 and everytime I try to enable photo stream the app crashes. I have tried all the above suggestions, including re-installing iphoto from the Mac App store. Below are the first 50 lines of the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
