Problem accessing password protected podcast

Hello,
I'm having trouble accessing a password protected podcast. I'm not asked for my username or password. The download fails silently. When I click on the exclamation point in the left columb I see the following message:
There was a problem downloading "http://rss.somepodcast.net/podcast/podcast.xml".
Authorization is needed to access "http://rss.somepodcast.net:8080/podcast/podcast.xml".
[OK]
I'm using iTunes 7.0.2 on MacOS 10.3.9. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I discovered that I could access the podcast if I hand edit a copy of the feed and insert my username:password into each link.

  • Password-protected podcasts; does Podcasts app support?

Now that a beloved podcast has gone behind a paywall, I'm in need of support for password protection in Podcasts app. The workaround in iOS5 was to enter the password on iTunes on the Mac, and the program would update to the Music app on the iPhone. Now, the Music app no longer supports podcasts at all, and the password-protected podcasts seem to transfer to the iPhone intermittently. And certainly, there seems to be no support or subscribing to password-protected apps from Podcasts app directly.
    Or am I missing something?

I've been getting a similar problem. When I update my podcast feeds, if I don't press ok on the password window before it times out, it kills Itunes. I think what is happening is that Itunes is start to request the feed, gets an "I want an user name and password" dialog from the server and then pops up a window. If you don't respond in time, the far server ends the session, and when you finally do respond, itunes can't handle the response from the far server and crashes.
What needs to happen is that Itunes needs to say "I have a username and password associated with this feed" and automatically send that, then only prompt the user if there is a response from the server saying there is a problem.
That being said, I still have the same problem of not finding a place to report this bug as well.

  • Can't access Password Protection Manager on my External Hard Drive to unlock it

I can't access password protection manager on my External Hard Drive to unlock it , I got updated antivirus and I always use safely remove to remove the hard drive. I see the UNLOCK APP Drive, and the Public Area, but when I run the "Password Protection Manager.exe" file at UNLOCK APP Drive, the bar will just be fulfilled by approximately 60% by showing "Loading...", then it stops for many seconds, and it starts to run the Installation file (PasswordProtectionManagerSetup_F.exe) which will delete all unlocked files if I accept it to install.

    Hi
I need to know that how can we read a file from the password protected directory through JSP.
The JSP and the directory are on the same server, but the directory is password protected.
I am using tomcat, and even when I upload files through JSP the JSP can not access the directories as they are password protected.
How can we pass the username and password in our servlet/Jsp to pass (LOG) into the directory and read/write the file.
    Thanks Saulat

But now I think they should hav given some thin to solve this problem

  • OBIEE 11g having problems with password protected PDF files.

I have been able to get an analysis in OBIEE 11g to display PDF files.
However, some of these documents contain sensitive information and must be secured. Since anyone with access to the file name
could simply type in the proper path in the browser window, this is unacceptable. In order to try and prevent this, I created a pdf file
that is protected with a password.
Opening the file by itself, produces the desired results. The password is requested before the file will open.
When I open the file through my analysis in OBIEE, Adobe reader activates, but the password is not requested and the file does not open.
It is as if OBIEE is somehow not sensing that Adobee is asking for a password.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

FYI, in case anyone is interested, I found out what is going on.
I created the original password protected PDF using Microsoft Word. I did this because I do not have a full version of Adobe Acrobat that allows me to create files.
On a hunch, I found someone that has a full version of Acrobat, and had them create a password protected PDF file. This file worked perfectly.
Apparently, Word is not strictly adhering to PDF guidelines, and OBIEE senses the differences, resulting in the file not opening properly.
Something to keep in mind for anyone linking to password protected PDF files in OBIEE.

  • Can't access password protected .Mac Web Gallery

Safari is my primary browser. I have been creating web galleries using iLife '08 and my .Mac account and then viewing them with Safari for the past month or so with no trouble. This weekend I tried creating a password protected web gallery and it won't load in Safari. The gear icon just spins forever and has timed out when I have left it alone long enough. My other web galleries continue to load just fine. Clicking on the link from within iPhoto for my password protected gallery doesn't work, typing the url into Safari doesn't work, going to my gallery index and clicking on the icon of the "locked" gallery doesn't work, etc. I can still view all of my other web galleries, but this one that I'm trying to protect just won't load.
This actually appears to be a Safari problem. I don't get a dialog asking for User Name and Password. The url works just fine using Firefox on my Mac, and it also works on a PC running Windows XP. When using something other than Safari, I get the prompt for User Name and Password that I would expect. Upon entering that information, everything looks normal and works just fine.
Tsk tsk Apple! Safari shouldn't be having trouble displaying protected .Mac web galleries. Sheesh!

Just wanted to let you know that I have the EXACT SAME problem, except it is affecting my password protected iWeb site and my Gallery. I can view it from Firefox, so that is the web browser I am using now. I sent a bug report to Apple, and I also send them a request for help using e-mail, but so far I have gotten no response. Hopefully someone is working on the fix?

  • IPhoto - MobileMe gallery subscription - problem with password-protected

I am having a peculiar problem with subscribed galleries from MobileMe in iPhoto 08 and iPhoto 09. For galleries that have password-protection enabled, the full URL of the gallery subscription feed is pulled through as the Subscription title instead of the gallery title.
    For example "http://gallery.e.com/ACCOUNT-NAME/XXXXXX/?webdav-method-truthget&depth=infinit y&feedfmt=atom....
This doesn't occur for public MobileMe galleries. The title of the gallery comes across and the URL of the subscription is hidden.
Anyone having similar problems? Local Genius Bar couldn't help and assumed it was just a bug, but it doesn't seem to be typical of Apple.
As an aside, it would also be nice to have these feed subscriptions behave similarly to the way RSS subscriptions work in Mail, with the ability to select how often the feed is queried and indicate the number of new items. This would alert users of changes to feeds.
    Joe

Upon further research, it appears that this problem occurs when publishing from either iPhoto or Aperture to MobileMe. The problem seems to be when a gallery is published and one chooses not to have the gallery appear on the main gallery page (hidden). It seems to have nothing to do with whether or not one protects the gallery with a password.
So, Apple, if you are listening, can you provide any information on how to have the title of the gallery come through when subscribing using iPhoto while at the same time not listing the gallery on the main MobileMe gallery page? This seems to be a fixable bug.

  • Can you restrict or password protect podcasts?

I would like to do a podcast but would like to be able to restrict or password protect it. Is this possible? if not are there any other options?
    Thxs.

Yes if you have a program that allows you to set a password on the PDF file or you ZIP it with a password set on it. For that you wouild also need a ZIPping program that allows you to set a password. Adobe Acrobat does, not sure about Acrobat reader. And there may be other PD creator programs that allow a password to be set.
But with a password set, either on the PDF or a ZIP file, the person you are sending it to would need to know the password to even open it for viewing. Maybe you are looking to Lock the PDF from being edited?

  • Problems with password protection.

    Hi guys,
my site was password protected and now when I republish it and visit it, it doesn't block me anymore... (I don't have to type anything, it just opens the page) in the inspector panel it still looks like the thing has a protection - password and user name - but I can access it anytime I want without it.
It drives me nuts... there is no way to tell if the thing is secure or not... is it a new update issue? I don't get it.
    If you have any idea...
    B.F.

Your password protected site will accept either the username/password you specified in iWeb OR your .Mac username/password. Either can be saved in your browser cookies or wherever so once you are logged in, you won't necessarily have to do it again.

  • Adobe DC/ problem with password protected documents

I downloaded Adobe DC on my android tablet for school work. When I try to open my textbook it is password protected and I am unable to enter my login details.... please help?

    Hi,
Do you get a username as well as password field or just a password field to enter your login details? Is your PDF file, 'ProtectedPDF' by Vitrium? Currently, Adobe Acrobat DC on mobile devices does not support third party DRM protected pdf files. You will have to open the same on the desktop.
    Thanks.

  • IPod touch can't access password protected WRT310N

I purchased this wireless router (WRT310N) so I could access the Net using my iPod Touch however while the iPod detects the network I am unable to access the network even though I am typing in the correct password.  Anybody else have this problem?  What am I doing wrong?  Is this an iPod issue or a Linksys issue?  Please help.

Are you sure you enter the passphrase correctly? Try to change the passphrase temporarily to something simple like "12345678".
Also, make sure that you do not use the SSID "linksys". Change your SSID to something unique. You don't want to connect accidentally to your neighbor's router.
Don't disable SSID broadcast. It only causes trouble.
Try toremove the wireless network from your iPod touch: select it and choose "Forget this network". Then go back and select "Other...". Now enter your SSID as network name. Choose Security WPA. Then enter the passphrase into the Password field. Press Join.
See if it connects now. Do you get the check mark to the network name now?

  • Can iTunes grab password protected podcasts?

I have a subscription to an audio stream from a radio station here in Dallas. It's a subscription based thing where you can get the show with no commertials, and the profits go to charity. I have been using Doppler Radio to pull it in up till I got the new iPod (I had a creative Nomad till now). Since I can get iTunes to sync automagically when i get home every night, that would be the best thing to use...
I can't see any way to put my user name and password for the site into iTunes. Am I missing something, or is there no way to get subscription based podcasts?
This is in Windows, by the way. Oh, and if you're wondering, the radio show is a talk show hosted by Russ Martin on KLLI Dallas. They stream it live, too, for free, in case anyone is interested!

  • How to access password protected web service endpoint?

    Hello,
I annotated an EJB as a web service end point with @WebService and @WebMethod, and put this end point into a security realm from sun-ejb-jar.xml.
Then I use wsimport to generate the client source code and compiled them with my program. But when I call the web service, an exception was thrown with message body "The server sent HTTP status code 401: Unauthorized". It seems that username and password for the realm will be set somewhere.
Could someone tell me where can I put the username and the password?
    Thank you very much.

Also I don't understand how security works in cases where I do not have the password. Imagine that my client is inside a web application, and is authenticated by the application server (by some unknown mechanism, even could be sso). I have access to my Subject and all, but I don't know the password.
How would I do to call another web application (or web service) in name of the callee. (that is, the user who called my web application)

  • IOS7: Password-protected podcasts no longer work

Get "unable to download this podcast" error.  Works if I login to the desktop version of the website.  Works on an iOS6 device.  Help!!!!

Yeah.. I've been trying all day to find a way to configure my web server's authentication such that the Podcast app for iOS will work. It seems to have some level of password support, as the podcast app will ask me to give the credentials. However, I've yet to have it work.
I've tried basic type authentication with nginx, basic and digest with Apache2 and I even opted to setup a legit SSL cert for the server, in case that was an unspoken issue.
Dang, I really want to secure my podcast feed AND have people be able to use it on their iOS devices, especially on their AppleTV (hence installing Apps isn't an option).
